    Honda stream oil change:
    Today's video is on my wifes Japanese import honda stream rn6 1.8vtec r18 not an rsz it a model X, i will be changing the oil and oil filter for a mugen filter and also a new blitz flat panel air filter, this is a jap import car but its the same engine as the 8th gen honda civic 06+ fd civic and fn civic so this video may help you out if your looking to change the oil will will also see a magnetic drain bolt(sump nut) this helpes to keep any small metals that may be in your oil from damaging your engine so i suggest you get one i have used them for years and they do work.
    The oil filter is mugen and helps with better oil flow, i don't race this car or drive it fast i just like to have the best oil flow so the engine wont be starved of any oil.
    The blitz flat panel air filter will allow the car the breath easier and give better air flow while giving a slight increase in power that is hardly noticeable. gains 4to6bhp

      I used to only use top names like motol or Castrol, until i found out that SPOON RACING only use honda oil and all their race engines and when asked why not something better spoon said "These Honda engines have been developed to work with Honda oil so all we're doing is adding on performance parts to a Honda engine so why not use Honda oil and we've never had any issues with the oil" so that's why I use Honda oil but Amsoil is very good also. Thanks for the comment.

    Hey man, what oil you useing 5w 40? I have no idea where yo start looking for parts like pads and oil not something you can just enter a reg for with these streams! Iv the same stream seen a Couple of google searches come up with 5w 30?

    • @GPTV2020

      Yes, if you are in Ireland/uk 5w 30 is what you would use, but hotter or colder countries would be different, its the same as the 1.8 civic of the same year. An R18 engine. Check out these site's for parts.

    Quick one for you. I have an RSZ now with the last few weeks. I've noticed that the temp guage never sits at half way on it, it's always a bit below half way once it's upto temperature. Is it the same in your car? I'm paranoid that it's a bit thirsty and not getting upto proper temperature.

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  2 роки тому

      Honestly if you just walk in to buy parts in any motor factors then you will most likely get the wrong parts. But there are good websites to get OE part numbers so get the part number you need and bring it to a motor factors this is how i normally do things, or bring the old part with you and most shops will measure it up for you.

      @@dailydad6335 handa should have known what you needed but yes 3 litres should be enough, always check the dip stick, don't over fill it. It's worse to over fill it then it is to under fill it. Drive it a bit after doing the job, then check levels again.

      @@GPTV2020 I asked the guy but the guy i was speaking to said he dont have the exact specification for a japanese import only the irish ones, what the heck does that even mean? Its honda. • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  Рік тому

      Ah sure, they just sell it in Ireland, they have no interest in doing extra work to find out how much you need, a few clicks of the mouse and they could have told you, but thats what your dealing with here. Why change the oil at all? Just because it's new to you or is there a problem with it.

  • @josiahngige
    @josiahngige 4 роки тому

    how many litres of oil does it take?, I have 2012 RSZ version and we put 5 litres, someone told me thats too much

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  4 роки тому

      yeah, thats a bit much, 3 to 4L is enough, put in 3 let it settle for a few minutes and then if it needs a bit more after dipping the dip stick put in more but it should only need around 4L to the top notch on the dip stick. if you put in too much then when driving it can start going out your breather pipe in to your air filter, open it and see if its oilily if it is stop driving it, change it, clean out all the pipes and drain some oil, just loosen the drain plug a bit let out a bit and tighten it up again. hopefully you didn't get any in the intake.

    • @josiahngige

      @@GPTV2020 intake and others are ok, little residue on the Air filter from engine braking I was told. I have done 3 services so far since purchase and we put 5 litres each time.

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  4 роки тому

      Well after a while the 5 letters would settle down and would be over the top mark on the dip stick id say, in the owers manual it will say how much it will take. 3.5 L or 3.7 quarts i usually put in around 4L at the most.

      @@GPTV2020 thanks man but it really is hard to get suspension parts, but if I buy an old one how long will it last, I called red power and they said they can provide me bc coilovers they are not cheap and I think you can adjust them softer or stiffer, will they suit daily drive with occasional road trip.

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  Рік тому

      I like a car to look low with good handling but i removed my dampening adjustable coilovers because of two reasons, 1. The top mounts were gone as you seen, but two, the are very hard to live with. You cannot set them softer the the original suspension, they are very bouncy and if you lower the car, you get negative camber which means the inside of your tyres ware away quickly so you'll need camber bolts. Thats fine, they are cheap enough for the front but the need camber arms which are 200 euro. BC's are excellent coilovers so they could feel good on a daily but my coilovers were a grand and they were good but hard to live with.
