    What a beautifull machine, like the ones I remember from my childhood. I am a BMW flattwin guy, but I love these Honda CB series. I drove the big CB1300 many years ago, you could do everything in 5th gear, so much torque and such a quality engineering. If this was painted in the classic Bol d'Or coulours, it would be sick. I love my flattwins, but I sometimes wish that the German engineers go to Honda and learn how to make smooth engines and quality gearboxes.

    • @RiderCamTV

      Definately a lovely machine! i'd be with you if they painted them in the classic colours.. love my flat twins, but this was a lovely smooth machine :)

    Hi Rider cam excellent review. I have recently just bought one of these over one of the Bonnevilles or RNineT’s. I test road them all but settled on the CB because of the lovely smooth comfy ride. And ultimately because they’re aren’t many on the UK roads & I wanted something different from the Triumph’s or BMW’s. I’m going to get my tank sprayed in the old school candy orange flake paint scheme to hark back to early 1970’s 👍🏻

      Hi PR Jackson.The Honda CB 1100RS in Black looks fab. As you own one, can you please help me out and tell me why you preferred it over the R nine T ? I liked the bling add ons from the BMW special catalogue but cannot justify their prices. I know if you topple a Beemer the cylinder heads always cost a fortune if damaged but not sure if Honda offer anything to upgrade any of its parts.On the UA-cam video I cannot hear much of the exhaust bark but think the BMW may sound better,not sure can you tell me otherwise,no Honda Dealers near to me.

    • @aapddd
      @aapddd 5 років тому +1

      @@richardallan455 I bought the cb 1100 rs a month ago. I was looking at the BMW too without testriding one of those. I was sold on the Honda because of the buttery smooth engine and gearbox. Sound is also important for me and the thing Honda has done with the oldschool bark is really cool, it does really sound better than 'regular' 4 bangers.
      I bet the BMW sounds great too and because it's a 2 cylinder, it will rumble nicely. The thing that put me off though is that the big boxer in the r nine t vibrates quite a lot where the Honda is always smooth.

    I have a 2014 CB1100 and to me is has more than enough power. In fact, I would have preferred it to be a 750 or so. But I couldn't resist the retro looks.

  • @TheKevphil
    @TheKevphil 6 років тому +1

    As a high-school student in the late '60s, the big Honda 750 Four was an amazing machine. I never did get beyond my little bullet-proof Honda 90, but for me, the "exposed" air-cooled engines, with their chrome fin and OHC covers are so much better looking than today's water-cooled bikes. This Honda painted the fins black, but it's still a very handsome power plant. (In pure engine LOOKS, I think my favorite was the Honda 450, I think because of its DOHC covers.) Anyway, thanks for your no-nonsense but engaging review. I have sub'd and will enjoy exploring your videos. BTW: Those are some NARROW roads you were driving!

    Great review of a lovely bike. This bike does attract a lot of criticism and maybe it would of been nice for this RS to make 100HP Vs the EX's 89HP just for a little differentiation. But at least you review the bike for "what it is" and not for "what it is not". I have an EX model and love it, I also own two other bikes, both making 147PS and they are no more fun to ride, just different.

    I picked up a 2018 model in red a couple of weeks ago and I have already done 1200 miles on it! Just waiting for a nice calm (no gales) day to wash it and then clean & lube the chain (for the second time). I have had that gear number (dash) not showing thing once so far (I was looking out for it) and a tap on the gear lever made it recognise the gear I was in (6th). I think it is because the gear change is so light and easy that I barely tap it now to change up or down. All in all, my fourth bike (or fifth if you count the loaner I rode for four months earlier this year) and it is streets ahead of the others.

      +SmokinZen thanks for the kind words :)
      Because it's quite a lift bike the power is definately there and at freeway speeds I don't think you'd have any problems at all. On the twisties it handled really well too, felling 'planted' and positive providing great feedback and responsiveness.
      Hope that helps. Ride safe :)

    Dear Rider Cam TV Team, thank you for your Great vids! I Love the way you make the Videos! My questions is, do you think that the Honda CB1100RS Could be a beginner bike for an middleager? I like the style of the bike, i don't Need a sportier one, i also like the EX Version But for me is the RS the modern bike! A lot of magazines and youtube vids spoke of an not easy handling in curvy roads. They meant that the thicker Front wheel is the problem. Did you mentioned with your experience anything about this? Thank you! Best regards Peter from germany (Rheinmünster)

      The Honda CB1100RS is an awesome bike, and would be a great place to start. The bike has a nice weight and we found it really easy to manoeuvre. The RS is also a great bike and would be a great return to bike biker and beginner alike, its very versatile and powerful without being too much to handle and will be a joy to ride I'm sure. Didn't notice any issues with the front tyre at all.... ride safe matey :)

    How would you compare the bike with suzuki bandit 1200 k6? I used to ride suzuki bandit 600 year 2004 and I found it fine. Some people say 600 is too lazy but now I got suzuki bandit 1200 k6, I see difference but I don't find 1200 giving me some extra pleasure compare to 600, except its more powerful and more heavy. What seems weird is only 180 km/h speed, on my suzuki its 260 km/h and I guess power and numbers are quite similar. Thank you for respond, considering selling my bandit and go for HONDA,

    The 2013 bike had quite a bit of vibration once you get over 3300 rpms. How was this engine? You say it it smooth. It that only at low rpms? I could not ride 65 mph without annoying vibration thru the seat, bars and pegs. The rear suspension was also sprung too heavy for me at 160 lbs so it didn't do much. Easy fix.

      Hi Neil, i foudn it smooth at al revs, be it 60 ish all the way down. No vibrations either, just found it a smooth ride :)

      @robertbrandywine 6 років тому +1

      I had a 2013 and didn't notice any buzz or vibration at higher rpms (if you want to call 3300 higher). Smooth all the way to red-line. But some riders did report a 5000 rpm buzz.

    Hi mate, Compared to Triumph Bonneville T120 which one has more quality and stability and worth its money?

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  7 років тому +2

      +Faisal Al-Eidan hi mate, thanks for the question. Not ridden the T120 yet so don't know 100% although looking at them as a friend has the T120, they are kinda of different bikes really as this one is a cafe racer style. Both have their qualities and it really depends what you like more. Hopefully inthe coming months we can try the T120 and see how they compare.

    • @Nick_R_
      @Nick_R_ 7 років тому +1

      The RS is more comparable to the Thruxton R. The EX to the T120. But yes, I wondered about this too. Honda quality is so high, but my old 2010 Triumph was right up there too. The 120 has had some teething troubles (of the kind Honda would just not have), but I think they've been resolved now. A quality experience is also down to your dealer. They play a big part in that. Get to know the people you are thinking of buying from! For me, the Thruxton R is way ahead of the RS. But the EX/T120 is a much harder choice...

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  7 років тому +1

      +Nick Rijke that's very true. The T120 is a nice bike too and your definately right about getting to know the people you are thinking of buying from. :)

    You keep saying cafe racer es . Its not, its a 1970s style superbike. Cafe racers are from the 50s and 60s with flat humped seats, rear sets and drop handlebars. Different era mate.

  • @majowa83

    Why do you call it a “cafe racer-esque”? If it’s clearly a new UJM.

    With a flashed ECU, HC pistons, higher lift/duration cams, 4-1 headers and maybe port cleaning/matching this engine should be making an easy 130 bhp all day long without becoming a puddle of aluminium under the bike at stop lights . . . at least one of the most important ingredients it's already there: 1140cc ! (^_^)

    I must say Honda did a really good job on this bike, I'm an retro look classic motorcycle enthusiast and retro naked muscle bikes also, the only flaw I see in this model is it's low power engine, only 89BHP for a 1.100cc, to be honest I would preferred it to give at least 120BHP for a big bore engine, miss the days of the CB1000SF, CB1300SF and X11. Other than that is a lovely bike.

      Ogeid Zelop the reason for the low horse power is because of all of the Emission requirements of Europe and U.S ( Cal )

    • @Ryzen_56X
      @Ryzen_56X 7 років тому +4

      Yes the european low emission E4 is at fault for the low powered machines that will be produced in the future, the best combination for Honda in this case is that they should of reborn the CB750 and made it the new RS (CB750RS) not with a big bore engine 1100cc. Which will be priced at 15000$ here in europe, expensive as hell for a 90BHP 1100cc bike.

    I don't know who want a naked bike. If you ride it all day you are beat up from the wind and covered with bugs. Is it just for looks? I am used to BMW's 130 HP and why would I only want 89 HP?

      +Siclmn Cyclerider it's a choice thing I guess. This bike is a lovely machine but I wouldn't have it to ride in the same way as my adventure for the reasons you said, but I definitely enjoyed riding this one, and you really don't notice the HP to be honest because it's not a racing bike and for me, has plenty of power ;)

    Sure Honda makes a nice riding, pretty machine, but sorry, having owned and worked on quite a few Honda motorcycles, I'm much more impressed with real engineering which involves being able to maintain and work on a bike without tearing out my hair. Something Honda has never figured out. I'll take the rough castings of a Yamaha or Kawasaki any day, when working on them is about half as time consuming and frustrating.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  7 років тому

      +Richard Alexander very good point mate and it seems as though most manufacturers are going that way that you need specialist tools and gadgets to do anything. For me that's great as I'm not an engineer or mechanic but I guess it is frustrating for those who want to do their own maintenance etc. Ride safe

    • @richardalexander5758
      @richardalexander5758 7 років тому +2

      RiderCamTV: Sad really, because in one relaxed afternoon session I could direct a design team exactly how to create a bike that a large number of people would love, and be able to live with. Problem is such a machine probably wouldn't sell because it wasn't inexpensive, or the biggest, fastest, most flashy, or snobbish. That and the bike market is changing, with most new riders uninterested in a practical sport bike capable of touring. Safe riding to you as well
