How to crochet a Bolero (All Sizes child to Adult)

  • Learn to crochet this easy bolero. It can be sized for children all the way up to adult. You measure yourself to get a custom fit. Don't be afraid this is easy and looks great.
Perfect for chilly evenings. You choose your yarn type and hook size. I used a medium weight yorsted yarn but found that this may be a little too thick. I suggest you use a lighter weight yarn or even perhaps some thick crochet thread. I used a J size hook, if you use a thread or thin yarn switch to a size H (5mm) hook. I added extra rows, but you can stop when it reaches your desired size. I was trying to hide my rear end... Oh well..... Happy crocheting

I won't waste my time making a crocheter's pattern that don't model their work. Thank you for modeling your bolero. It's look terrific!

Yolanda, this is so gorgeous! I praise God once again for your generosity and the video teaching of this beautiful bolero. I am making one for a young lady that I have mentored. I want her to feel like a princess of the Most High King that she is, and with this gorgeous pattern I know she will feel like a princess! May God richly bless you and keep you!

Hi Yolanda, I am grandma Carol. I learned basic crocheting in 1977! Have made many blankets and scarves and doll clothes but never felt confident in my ability to do such beautiful pieces like yours. You make it so easy and you have a very pleasant way about you. Thank you so much for making and providing these tutorials!

Hi Yolanda, I made this bolero but I made it for my 16" fashion dolls and my BJD dolls. I used your measurement on the dolls and it works. So now this bolero can be said that it can be made from a doll to adult size. I also made a long-sleeve one. I've made more than one and they look as good on my dolls as yours look on you. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Have a blessed day!

Yolanda, I made two of these boleros, one in lemon green and the other in cream and sent them to my sister in Canada. She loves them and is always sporting them on. This was my very first attempt and the result was successful. You taught me to crochet. I never imagined I would ever hold a crochet hook in my hand!. I am a knitter.Thankyou Yolanda for making me smile. Merry Christmas.

Hi Yolanda; I made this for my granddaughter with a very fine thread. It consisted of three threads two violet the other a multi colored blues to green. This came from Mastic, Shirley NY. The women had a shop in her house the threads were amazing.
The bolero that I made has a little sleeve and looks very nice. Thank you so much for this pattern. It was do easy to follow. I live in Florida now and have some friends who fell in love with this pattern . So I am passing it on. Thank you, Loretta

You are amazing. Excellent job. As a total beginner, I found the instructions and video super easy to follow. Looking at the Bolero I thought it was extremely difficult and I wouldn't be able to understand. I crocheted with you following you step by step, set back the video, paused, continued the video and I am amazed how easy it was. Thanks so much for the easy measurements too. This is unbelievable. Thanks for sharing. xxx

Muchas gracias!!!

Hi Yolanda, I know you are gonna giggle. I didn't reduce one inch as advised and ended up with a bolero for a baby elephant!!! It took me one hour per shell row. Over 180 shells per row!!! The bolero was never ending. I cheated by adding extra SC rows round the arm and it fits me. I made this for my Sister in Canada. She would not know I made a mistake. I have started another for my daughter in law and I decided to TAKE YOUR ADVISE. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING AND CARING. xxx
