I am on my second Pixie Bolero, The first one I made for a friend, but found that it was abit small for me.... so I am on my second one and making it bigger (was blessed in the chest department lol).... nearly done, and I just LOVE BUTTONS, so can't wait for this girl to be done, also making her in 100% crochet cotton, thank you for such clear instructions and being an amazing teacher x
Hey Michelle, so I did what she said, added 8 stiches(chains) to my first row... so you will have 144 + 1 (145) chains to start, this is where you add the extra 8 stitches, then I worked it out to be 72 Boxes (2nd row), 145 Double Crochets, 35 Loops and 2 Half loops, 18 Shells in total, then 36 different boxes above the shell row to make the next support row.... this is how I worked it out, but always counted, esp the double crochet rows.... if those are out your whole pattern is wrong. I hope this helps you 🙂 Anja's pattern is 136 +1 chains begin with 137 chains/ 68 boxes/137 double crochets/ 33 loops, 2 half loops/ 17 shells/ 34 different boxes. @@michellevangsgaard1976
Thank you for the pattern and the tutorial. Instructions were very clear. I am a UK 16 and quite busty. So I used 161 (160 + 1) stitches (160 would work both as a multiple of 4 and 8) based on feedback people have given on sizing here, and it seems to have worked. I also used a thicker 100% cotton yarn which I had recycled from another sweater. I'd probably need more stiches if I were using DK. For those struggling with size, I think it could help to keep crocheting (the first row) till the length fits the length you want on both your arms (drape it across your back and shoulders) and round up/down the number of stitches to a number that is a multiple of both 4 and 8 (e.g. 144, 152, 160, 168 etc). Hope that helps!
Hi thanks for your input. I think I'm a size 18 and probably even bustier 😂. I've got a thickish cotton based yarn which I'm going to use a size 6 crochet hook with. I hope it works 😊 out. Thanks from Debbie in South Africa!! I hope yours turned out great!! ❤

I've just come back from a weekend market and one of the stalls was selling crocheted crop tops. As a larger woman I just knew that they wouldn't be large enough to fit me, but as a crocheter it inspired me to look up patterns that I could adjust to my size. Yours was one that crabbed my eye 👁, and honestly, I don't know how I managed to miss it when you first posted it, considering that I'm a follower of your channel. Luckily I have yarn with me (I'm currently camping on summer holidays down in Oz. ) and I really like this pattern as I can make it a bit longer and wear it as a V neck, and know it'll hang past my larger chest and hang right. Good thing I have a tape measure with me.
@OpheliaTalks when it's finished I'll take some photos and post them to your Facebook group. I already have plans to use your pattern for a crop top jumper. I'll let you know how that goes.

Oh my goodness! I rewatched this while I was working on my second entrelac blanket. All the sudden I thought that would be cute with buttons on the shoulder area. With the gaps in between. So many things could be made. I’m trying to relive stress as my parents are going through a rough time right now. My mother fell down a short staircase of 4 stairs in her house but has a brain bleed & broken collarbone. My dad depended on her for all his care. He was in the hospital last week for what my mother thought was a stroke. They have stairs in the middle of their house to go to their bedroom so we’re trying to get my mother to accept that that house is not working for them anymore. It’s really sad. It just cheers me up to watch this video of that vintage bolero that looks like my mothers toddler dress. Thanks for your beautiful creations. Joanie

just finished my first one, and now that I get the concept of how it's constructed, I want to attempt making one from granny squares! So easy to fold, too! Just make a little rectangle and she pops into the drawer! Keeping my eye out for some cute mandala yarn so I can make another!
Your designs are so beautiful and I am working on a version of your Flower Poncho as I watch! May I make a comment about the video itself? The intervals where you play music while showing your daughter modeling the bolero are much louder than your voiceovers to the point where I have to reach over and adjust my volume. If that can be adjusted so they are more equal it would be so nice since they come abruptly and I am working on your poncho! It interrupts the flow. I don't think this is the first video of yours where this has happened but I may be mistaken. Thank you!
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you and I hope my comment wasn't annoying. You do offer wonderful content and I just hope to be helpful in making your channel the best it can be! Now back to my Flower Poncho...

first of all...Miau greetings from cat to cat❤😻😻❤they love watching us while we are crocheting.😂 Very very nice ...the beautiful shirt and thanks very much for the exact explaining. All the best for your creative works. love Maggy from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Love your calming demeanor. Always watching the channel. ...I got confused when you count an extra chain in foundation for chain Most crochet videos say second one from hook but love your videos more than most and I am sure everyone feels the same.feels
I just started to learn crochet and I have made a couple of strange blobs of rows of sometimes tight sometimes too loose chains that are a mess, but after watching your video it is all starting to make sense to me now. I plan on starting this project after work today. Thank you for sharing this beautiful sweater pattern.
This is really a beautiful pattern. I always enjoy crocheting more when the weather gets cooler, so I was looking for a little project. I think this will be a perfect gift for my bff who's bday is in January. She lives in a warmer climate, but still needs something light for evening. Now to find the perfect color! Thxs for sharing💖

I so love boleros. I always take them when I travel it keeps me warm. I soooo love this lacey design Anja. Love your videos. I’ll be making this one soon for next year for my travel. Your works are awesome & amazing designs. I’m so blessed I finally found your site. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH🙏🌟

I loved the way you explained how to do everything and each and every step so well. ❤❤ Hope to see your more projects like this in future as well.
I've just finished this bolero for myself. I really love the result! So beautiful design and button idea are amazing✨ also your explanations are easy to understand. Thank you for sharing:-) from Japan🇯🇵 p.s. Buttons I prepared were too small and easily came off... so I use crochet cords instead (lace up using holes) and it also works. I'll gather buttons which is right size and make another one!

You are so welcome Enola, I hope you enjoy making it! Thank you, Anja x
loved this pattern. mad eone in black and might make one in a beigey colour as well
Thanks for watching and making my pattern, Anja x
❤❤❤❤ I love this! It's definitely my next project! Exactly what I was looking for. 🥰
You're very welcome Carol, and thank you, Anja x
just finished my first one, and now that I get the concept of how it's constructed, I want to attempt making one from granny squares! So easy to fold, too! Just make a little rectangle and she pops into the drawer!
Keeping my eye out for some cute mandala yarn so I can make another!
Wonderful, thanks for watching my tutorial, Anja.
Thank you!
I'm sorry, but I'm unable to alter the volume on those sections, I have tried, I will look into it further Woodlawn22, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you and I hope my comment wasn't annoying. You do offer wonderful content and I just hope to be helpful in making your channel the best it can be!
Now back to my Flower Poncho...
Thank you ever so much for your tutorial. Your instructions were very clear and precise. That bolero is very nice and lacy. Perfect for a cool summer evening 🌺
It's so easy to wear, and versatile! Thank you Alice, Anja x
Hi can I use a different yarn weight and a different hook size like a 5mm? Thanks
Yes you can, but be mindful of the fact it will work up bigger!! Thank you iristai2451, Anja x
An amazing girl who is wearing an amazing bolero! Thank you so much for the tutorial, too!❤!!!😊!

Thank you. You explain very well and speak very clearly.
I understand you perfectly although I follow you from Spain
Wow, thank you Eva, I'm so glad it's easy for you to understand, Anja x
Love your calming demeanor. Always watching the channel. ...I got confused when you count an extra chain in foundation for chain Most crochet videos say second one from hook but love your videos more than most and I am sure everyone feels the same.feels
I just started to learn crochet and I have made a couple of strange blobs of rows of sometimes tight sometimes too loose chains that are a mess, but after watching your video it is all starting to make sense to me now. I plan on starting this project after work today. Thank you for sharing this beautiful sweater pattern.
Ooooo I'm so happy it's all fallen into place for you, well done, have fun, Anja x
Thank you for explaining so clearly, what a beautiful pattern ❤
Glad you like it meld40! I hope you or your recipient enjoys wearing it. Thank you, Anja x
You’re welcome Annie, what a lucky friend, l hope you enjoy making it, thank you, Anja x
Gracias maestra. Estoy haciendo el bolerito. Quiero entenderle pero no puedo. Me guío siguiendo sus manos. Bendiciones !!

You are very welcome. Thanks for watching Anja x
Thank you sooo much. This is my first project and it turned out very nice . Lacy and beautiful. I fell in love with the pattern as well. Thinking to make Saul with this pattern.
I loved the way you explained how to do everything and each and every step so well. ❤❤
Hope to see your more projects like this in future as well.
You are so welcome @meenumaharjan2087, oh yes, there will be more patterns in the future, of that you can be sure! Thank you, Anja x
I've just finished this bolero for myself. I really love the result! So beautiful design and button idea are amazing✨ also your explanations are easy to understand. Thank you for sharing:-) from Japan🇯🇵
p.s.
Buttons I prepared were too small and easily came off... so I use crochet cords instead (lace up using holes) and it also works. I'll gather buttons which is right size and make another one!
Awesome! Thank you Lee! Anja x
@@OpheliaTalkshi can you please help me with the length. When I did 137 chains it’s only 26 inches 😢 and on the video your looks longer as well
I did the chains as you did
Thank you, This is a great tutorial.
I wanted to understand how to decide on the measurements. I want to make this for my niece who is 10 years old
Can you ask for her measurements, or maybe measure something she already wears? How to do the multiples is in the video, thank you for watching, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you. She is very small. Her shoulder width is 13 inches. Is there any other measurement that I need to take? How do I see the multiples in the video?
Beautiful pattern and model. I have started mine for my trip to the Caribbean. Thank you
Wonderful Bernadine, it will be perfect for that! Thank you, Anja x
I just love your work. Very interesting to watch your videos. I’m making a shawl using your pattern.
