Taco sings Hildegard Knef (Hildegard Neff). The iconic German singer and actress who would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 2025. Hildegard Knef is one of the very few German actresses who rose to fame in the US, where she played in more than 30 Hollywood productions.
After impersonating 'Ninotchka' in Silk Stockings, Hildegard Knef (who changed her name into 'Neff' for the U.S. market) became a celebrated Broadway star. Her repertoire is considered part of the German legacy, still being played and sung by many artists. Her iconic image, being a sophisticated artist and feminist, made her a role model not only for women, but also for everybody celebrating independence, freedom and diversity.
2025 will be the year of Hildegard Knef with numerous artists presenting and interpreting her songs, paying tribute to one of the last 'true artists and divas'. To honor this German icon, Taco recorded 2 of Hildegard Knef`s songs she recorded in English back in the 60`s. 'In This Old Town' ('In dieser Stadt') and the very typical self-penned and self-ironic 'From Here On It Got Rough' ('Von nun an ging's bergab').
Taco not only expresses his admiration for this unforgetable star with these songs, but also approached these musical gems in his own, typical 80's style.
