Yes man, finally Rammsteins drummer get his well deserved credit. He is so great at keeping the simple elements sound great. The drum sound from Sehnsucht is by far the most iconic sound, because of the industrial sound the drums had. I am pretty sure his drums were triggered back then and the mixing went into some programming. On the LIFAD album he went all in, playing many songs with double bass drums. He is a great drummer but does not get enough attention.
Chris Schneider Is one of the most underrated rock+industrial drummers. He's sharp, heavy af, he's able to be musical and original even when he plays very simple patterns. Rock solid, cornerstone of each and every Rammstein show. Great video and beautiful sound recreation. Hats off.
The drumtech of Rammstein once told me, how he needs to tune the snare for the live concerts to a certain (and pretty narrow) frequency range. Otherwise it will not be able to cut through the bands wall of sound. For this purpose he used a tunebot. With more and more experience, he started to challenge himself, hitting that exact frequency without the tunebot.
so did he mention what range and/or frequency that was? would love to know, as i'm sure a lot of drummers would. hopefully maybe AoD would kindly tell us what was the tuning for the batter and reso on the snare they used here, pretty please : )
had the pleasure of seeing rammstein live a few years ago - amazing show. although schneider's drumming is quite simple, the groove the band creates is a headbanger's dream.
Simple, yes, but also absolutely perfect for what the music needs. Rammstein is very much like AC/DC in that the guitar riffs, bass, and vocals carry the songs.
I was lucky as I got to see them in 2012 in Tampa during what was essentially their greatest hits tour. The drumming for that show I noticed was allowed more to breathe. There were way more fills and ad-lib stuff going on which was awesome. For example, during Keine Lust, I swear there was three times more double bass and tom stuff going on than on the record. It was just awesomeness! The drumming was on fire.
This is the most catching drum sound to me. I've been listening to metal and rock bands for the past 20 years and STILL by far this is the best sound on the planet. No surprise to me that their shows sold out years ahead. No matter how expensive tickets are. Outstanding legend of all times.
I don't know anything about drums nor do I really plan to, but I am blown away by the amount of effort you put in those videos !! The details of each kit, the cinematography, and the editing of each video,... Everything is top-notch 👌
Sonne and Reise Reise are two of their most beautiful songs, along with Mutter. But I could keep going on and on. The drums in those songs sounds absoloutly heavy and powerful
I think a lot of that has to be with the Live sound. They have the snare absoloutly cranked volume wise in the PA system. Plus with a good, tight tuning.
Dude, if you think thats heavy, you should hear his bass drum live. you dont just feel it in your gut, you feel it in your soul. I cant wait to see them this year on tour!
Great work, man. Greets from germany. Like Christophs sound and playing very much. Never too much, always right, plenty of room for the rest of the band. And he is grooving like there´s no tomorrow. As a beginner i used Rammstein songs as playalongs what helped a lot . I still use them today. I love the energy

I am always impressed by the effort you put into creating these videos! Thank you very much!
Thank you, a brilliant video, I have been a rammstien fans since 1998, so wonderful to see yourselves as experts put together his kit and sound. Fav album for me is "Mutter" :-)
Wow bro!!! What a great drum cover!!! I LOVED this video! How you recorded and explained what drums he/you are using and all that! THIS is a true drum cover man! Great job!
My jaw is on the floor right now. That DW setup is phenomenal and the Zildjian cymbal choices imo are perfect. That pdp bell 🔔 bronze snare might be one of my new favorite snare sounds. I absolutely love all of these episodes recreating famous drum sounds but you have really out done yourselves here in my opinion.
Excellent video! Rammstein has one of the most aggressive sounds of modern bands, this video is really helpful to understand how the drum kit works and how to get closer to it, thank you very much. As a final request, could you please make a video about some psychedelic/stoner rock band? That spacious drumming sound is so interesting and commonly underrated, that I barely see it nowadays... maybe Queens of The Stone Age drum kit? That would be awesome to understand all these bands and try to come to an interesting drum kit, the songs "My God is the Sun" and "I Appear Missing" could be a good approach but if you think other stoner band/song could be better for this matter please do it, after all you are the experts. Great video
LG
Totally right His live setup today is exactly what you mentioned. Since we were aiming for a sound from back in the day when he was still with Tama, we decided to go with a different configuration and different drum heads 👍🏻
America HAD Joey Jordinson. But the rest of the planet has this number one drummer. Rammstein is a perfect example of German values, being the best of all the rest. High standards, disciplined, ending every show like gentlemen, and damn, if I don’t get to see them play live before I die, I can only explain how I feel about this in Deutsch. Ja
Schneider is such an amazing drummer in my opinion. But I always think about that, can he play more difficult elements? Altough in Rammstein songs he's playing simple, but his perfectly drumming is more, than simple!
Rammstein have riffs which are so simple that any other metal band playing them would sound silly. But they make them sound massive and catchy AF.
Exactly what i thought! Sometimes the most basic and simple riffs, melodies etc are the ones who stick the most in our heads
Christoph has such an incredible sense of swing and groove. No need for flashy technical wizardry when you're that much in the pocket.
that is perfect comment. Kiene Lust swings so hard its not funny

His sonor snare has like 500 plies lol
He's always been a less is more kind of guy, as opposed to other guys like Ray Luzier from Korn, who less is more from a technical pers
Idk man Mutter and Reise Reise had great drum sounds
I can tell you his drum sound even MORE monstrous live than it is on the record.

Thanks for sharing this story. Rossi really is an outstanding guy with a lot of great stories to tell!
@@ArtOfDrumming yeah, i have met him a few times and it was always very cool to talk to him and share ideas about drumhead choises and tuning them.
so did he mention what range and/or frequency that was? would love to know, as i'm sure a lot of drummers would. hopefully maybe AoD would kindly tell us what was the tuning for the batter and reso on the snare they used here, pretty please : )
@@skwark56 Unfortunately (as far as I remember) he didn‘t mentioned the exact frequency. 🤔
@@annegretkasten6277 What do you mean?
Rammstein got me into drumming no joke. I can't thank Schneider enough for introducing me to this instrument
Dang this was amazing.
had the pleasure of seeing rammstein live a few years ago - amazing show. although schneider's drumming is quite simple, the groove the band creates is a headbanger's dream.
Simple, yes, but also absolutely perfect for what the music needs. Rammstein is very much like AC/DC in that the guitar riffs, bass, and vocals carry the songs.
Agreed completely. Perfect for what Rammstein needs. I personally love Christoph’s drumming. Live at Volkerball in 2005 was my favorite.
I was lucky as I got to see them in 2012 in Tampa during what was essentially their greatest hits tour. The drumming for that show I noticed was allowed more to breathe. Huge Rammstein fan here, you guys did an awesome job, the sound is almost identical! :)
When I heard your re-created snare sound I froze! It felt like I was in the studio waiting for the recording to start. Amazing!
I really like the simplicity that Doom has in his playing is very solid and consistent.
You guys always nail the sounds and performances, but you REALLY nailed that snare sound.
This is the most catching drum sound to me. I've been listening to metal and rock bands for the past 20 years and STILL by far this is the best sound on the planet.

The drums sound on Rosentrot and Reise Reise and LIFAD are amazing.
I don't know anything about drums nor do I really plan to, but I am blown away by the amount of effort you put in those videos !!

Sonne and Reise Reise are two of their most beautiful songs, along with Mutter. But I could keep going on and on. The drums in those songs sounds absoloutly heavy and powerful
i would love to see y'all recreate the drum sound from the rammstein live paris gig. the snare on that concert makes the songs sound heavier imo
I think a lot of that has to be with the Live sound. They have the snare absoloutly cranked volume wise in the PA system. Plus with a good, tight tuning.
well at gigs he uses some roland triggers, this is why the snare sound more heavier ;)
Dude, if you think thats heavy, you should hear his bass drum live. you dont just feel it in your gut, you feel it in your soul. I cant wait to see them this year on tour!
Was better than I thought
Amazing work!
Rammstein whole sound is huge
Finally, i've been waiting for this moment for ages
Great work, man. Greets from germany.

That snare is just perfectly tuned! I love it! 🤘🔥
I'm glad you chose a song from Mutter, which happens to be my favorite Rammstein album.
2:00 the fact that he used Sonne as a refference song is awesome
I've never liked bronze snares. But after this video I REALY want some! Thank you!)
I'm working on some songs and using Rammstein as my sound model, this video is an immense help, thank you!
This channel man... just... just makes my day.
you forgot to mention the most important thing: THE HAND!! The way that you have to feel the groove, the accents (that you did flawlessly) :)
I absolutely love "Sonne" but there are basically no accenting on the drums...
@@nikitacalvus exactly, having no accentson the hi-hat sets a very steady pulse on 8ths
the drum and guitar breakdowns in Spieluhr and Spiel Mit Mir are probably my favorite things about their entire repertoire.
4:18 That slight minimum difference in sound in between kick drums is glorious...
Thank you, a brilliant video, I have been a rammstien fans since 1998, so wonderful to see yourselves as experts put together his kit and sound. Fav album for me is "Mutter" :-)
Sounds fantastic, and as a drummer myself , been playing for 20 years. Never gets old to learn new things. Very good and interesting video
I have to say, you do very impressive recreations of the drummer's sets and playing. Bravo.
Thanks a lot 👍🏻
I'd sell my soul for that kit.
Nailed it. The snare is absolutely pitch perfect
Agreed. The snare sound in Sonne is iconic, and he hit it pretty well on the head here. It’s also fantastic in Reise Reise
That snare sound is heavenly!!!
Wow bro!!! What a great drum cover!!! I LOVED this video! How you recorded and explained what drums he/you are using and all that! THIS is a true drum cover man! Great job!
It’s time for a Vinnie Paul episode. Get some square sized drums and go to town!!
Reise, Reise has my favourite drum sound. In songs like Mein Teil or Keine Lust the drums sound perfect. Especially the snare.
Was hoping for this for so long
Recreate Queen’s Somebody To Love, please! That tom sound is truly iconic!
maybe the best video yet! lots of layers of technical, and you guys nailed it!
Very well done video, as always. Great choice for a sound to recreate!
These videos are great. It's awesome to see you guys reinvesting the success of the channel back into production and drum funding. Keep it up.
Great, tone!! Snare is just perfect!
Awesome!! Doom is one of my favorite drummers, simple, yet very creative and precise! awesome recreation
Nice job algos..been more into Jordison videos lately but I do really enjoy Rammstein and especially their drummer
Great video guys love the video
Love all albums but mutter is a masterpiece 😊

Bestrafe mich from sehnsucht has gotta be my all time favorite by them
crazy pure art
Really similar sound! That heavy high pitch snare really gives that same feel.

Once again, nailed it !
Thanks ! Great video !
If there wasn't for the word UNDERRATED. Comment sections would be empty.
saw the band twice. great and powerful presentation . very impressive. rock solid drums both times
Dude, that snare is so damn good sounding
Well done! Will check out the mixing video - the processing will be interesting. But great drum set and great playing! Liked! Best regards, Stefan
@5:25 that sounded exactly like the snare intro to Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen? Perfect.
I'd love you guys to cover aaron gillespie's drum sound mainly on underoath
Great stuff. Chris is a great drummer, Rammstein is an awesome band. Such a great sound.
You nailed that snare drum, great breakdown.
You guys are killing it in these videos 🤘🏻
i've been waiting so long for this!
The Drum Sound of Meshuggah / Thomas Haake would be sick
Wow that is just so impressive! Everything about this video I loved
This channel with blow up soon!! So good!! Keep it up!!! I hope you guys do that Du Hast cover as well.
Wie immer ein tolles Video, klasse Sound! Besonders schön, dass ihr euch auch vom Look inspirieren lasst! :)
I want to request Recreating the "Tilly Birds" drum sound!!
Your videos are always so good. Great Job!
I think he uses pinstripes batter and diplomats bottom heads I remember in an interview, and also the DW jazz series shells
Totally right
His live setup today is exactly what you mentioned. Since we were aiming for a sound from back in the day when he was still with Tama, we decided to go with a different configuration and different drum heads 👍🏻
So perfekte Aussprache aller Namen. Seid ihr selbst aus Deutschland?
Krasses Video, wie immer !! Respekt
Hallo Moe, Danke dir! Ja, aus Neustadt an der Weinstraße
You nailed his snare. Good job.
I never thought that this video would ever happen
always with good quality content. keep it up the good work guys.
Amazing Video!
Hier kommt die Sonne!!! 🤘🇩🇪
Darn, I really wanted to hear that 22" A Custom Ping Ride.
Zeer slechte drummer drumkit niet goed afgesteld
Great video, thank you!
Pretty much nailed the drum mix. Wow.
Super gemacht, wow!

Would love to see a recreation of Roger Taylor one time. A very wide career to look at with many different sound possibilites.
2nd Kick definitely needed
how about got to life from korn? i was wondering what kind of drum kit david silveria used 👍
Awesome break down video!
I recently watched a documentary of Rammsteins first album and their sound was influenced by the band Clawfinger.
Yeah man..Great job..Everything sounds awesome 👌
Nailed this one!!!! wow!!!
You nailed it. Nice work
Spiel mit mir!!!!!
The fire suit!
Even blew the mighty KORN off the stage.
Love that snare sound
you gotta do John Otto's sound from Chocolate Starfish. Maybe the best snare sound ever.
Oh man.. what I would give to play on a kit like this, or Jukka's bubinga kit.
Schneider is such an amazing drummer in my opinion. But I always think about that, can he play more difficult elements? Altough in Rammstein songs he's playing simple, but his perfectly drumming is more, than simple!
Man i would be over the moon if you guys did one of these for Abe Cunningham!
Fantastic video
Группа,,Раммштейн,, смело можно дать титул, Супер рок группа, Лично я, восхищаюсь этим коллективом,
My bass already drod D for this song ❤
Drums sound killer…. I want that snare!!
