Shingo is THE best, one of the most under utilized racers in the series. In fact i would say he almost represents the best of the first stage, how personal the race felt, the setup of the battle, hell even the ending all displayed the best that initial D had to offer IMO. Many of its best arcs have alot of similar elements
He instilled fear. He was unpredictable. And he was experienced. And yet, he did not have a higher goal, he was just an asshole with that view of racing, and he wanted to be number one in the Night Kids.
He was the first character that actually felt like a villain. Initial D always felt like it lacked really too compelling characters after third stage imo
I infact think that his "totally not friend" Takeshi Nakazato is way more underutilized than Shingo. I would love to see more of Takeshi in the series and it makes me sad he is reduced to mere cameos after the loss on Myogi against the Emperors.
It would be an amazing redemption arc for him to train harder than ever before, go to Irohazaka and beat the Emperors once and for all.
And maybe along the way start something romantic with Sayuki along the way.

I love this, but if possible maybe you could have used a clip of itsuki crashing from the back so you can’t see it a levin just to add a bit more? Or maybe just a quick shot of when takumi hits the guardrail on purpose before cutting to black with the crash sound effect? Besides that amazing
Using the moment Takumi hit the guardrail on purspose is actually a good thought, I would definitely fit it into the video, but that didn't come to my mind when I was editing.

Even though this may be of my favorite races of all the anime, the way Takumi figured it out so quickly doesn’t really cut it for me…maybe Takumi could’ve had a previous encounter with Shingo, which would’ve had made him reconsider things and prepare for the big race via training previously, or even do two races, one loosing and another one winning for good.

Do some edits on the scene where Takumi actually couldn't catch up using Itsuki's Levin to those guys mocking them at Akina then Takumi jumps out of the car and while Itsuki still in it crashes into a guardrail, off the cliff and goes to hospital
