Depends on work. I worked security for illegal hole in the wall gambling rooms woth casino touch screen machines. Constantly hitting licks on those places. Used to leave my piece in my side cargo pants pocket and used a basic ass level 2 cuz dumb. Felt much safer knowing they can't just yank my shit out while I was taking their temperature as people are walking in and out the door right next to me, brushing my shoulder with theirs.
Not with the level III retention holster I have, I’m just as fast with or without retention. But index retention holsters like those are a good way to shoot yourself.
Level 2 or 3 you should have a thumb break holster instead of trigger finger break. Less likely to put a round in your thigh or get the release jammed up preventing your sidearm from releasing from the holster.
I'm not telling anyone their business but as someone who has shot professionally and handled firearms for over 20 years that open carrying with anything less than a Level 3 makes you a liability to everyone around but many don't want either the extra weight, cost or difficulty. Been through too many gun grab attempts in over 20 years to use anything else but that being said if you don't train substantially with a Level 3 holster you will fuck up your draw when it matters the most. @@jamesbroughton5201 I EDC a Level 2 holster just for retention of a gun without a manual safety. The Level 3 with a hood is overkill unless you are carrying a duty weapon openly. It’s definitely better for security and displaying that you’re armed as a deterrent. I don’t like that the lvl 3 has 2 locks though because if you’re hand is on your weapon to unlock the top retention lock, why even have the other lock to deal with?
Nice information on the different level of retention my man. You should check out Safari Land holsters. They have the release on the inner side of the holster instead of an outside paddle that someone might hit / or could be bumped.
After seeing the training class where it took two grown men to remove a gun from a third's Blackhawk SERPA after it got sand in the latch, I'm a Safariland ALS/SLS convert. There's reasons many departments and ranges ban them (BHS) especially for guns without manual safety as the motion to release it under stress can cause an ND.
I have a glock and a blackhawk serpa level 2. The thing with this holster is it requires a lot and I mean A LOT of training and practice. Most NDs happen when they try and push the button, then as the gun is drawn their finger falls into the trigger space and the trigger gets pulled. This button is meant to have your finger dragged accrossed it, so when the firearm is deholstered your finger is on the slide in a pointing motion. Took me weeks to get that muscle memory down. Now its second nature.
@@Stonecon I owned one, but considering they're as welcome as wicker furniture in a nudist colony in local places people shoot pistols for training and competition, I moved on. My affinity for the 1911's ergonomics makes the SLS/ALS system intuitive even when I'm carrying a striker fired weapon with no safety. That’s how my uncle was suddenly retiring red in 1970. Get a level three and there’s no reason to think about a “Smart” gun.
Do you feel safe with the level 3? And confident that you can draw quick and accurate in tense or high stress situations?
how many people have you shot at? or better yet, how many times have you had to generally use those holsters to equip your weapon and fire
Serpa gang. "I just shot myself!"
Lmao
Military used them for a long ass time so
@@Conan361 but they were never using them in combination with a Glock pistol. They're using them with the M9. M9 first shot will be double, so that heavy trigger pull would lessen the chances of you having a negligent discharge. Also the M9 dose have an external safety tho it was rarely ever used.
@@Conan361 then got smart and switched to safariland
@@Conan361 The military also used trash magazines on their M4/M16 without antitilting followers, for decades. Military using/issuing something doesn't mean shit. Serpa Holsters are trash.
This is similar to what I use as a sheriff on our gen 5 glocks.
Except the hood you push down on the that positions your hand into the pistol and you can drag your thumb across for a quick draw.
Still, TRAIN with your holster you will be carrying!
I don’t use this holster nomore I had it for body gaurd and level 3 security gaurd but alot of the Leo’s Ik run these and they good with them
I’m glad To see a bro from the same city doing what u doing ✊🏿💪🏿
Level 3s are great for cops and security. People do try and snatch your gun A LOT. Gives you time to fight.
Yea I used it for security
Yup
So is this to prevent the user from drawing as fast or to prevent an aggressor from being able to take your weapon from you as easily?
Comes straight out my pocket just how I need it, I’m not into puzzles G😂
Whatever bro
I use a LVL 3 Retention Holster from Safariland it’s molded specifically for the firearm I use/edc
Literally missed the holster in the beginning 😂
Probably cause he uses level 3 holster more. Or it’s just a mistake? Things happen, not sure why you felt the need to point it out
@@txerrible1386 because these blockheads are obsessed with pointing out the most fucking miniscule things ever in these youtube shorts.
@@txerrible1386 bless you my brother
I prefer the open frame drop in holsters. Literally just holds the gun in place but allows for insanely fast draws
The glow around officers firearms fades when it goes in these holsters
level 3 ah get u popped 😂
No cap
It’s for cops mostly
@@Frost-ey1xc that’s even worse
Not with proper training😂
Depends on work. I worked security for illegal hole in the wall gambling rooms woth casino touch screen machines. Constantly hitting licks on those places. I'd rather a lvl 3 holster when I'm having to be inches away from someone I'm unlocking the door for and letting in. Used to leave my piece in my side cargo pants pocket and used a basic ass level 2 cuz dumb. Felt much safer knowing they can't just yank my shit out while I was taking their temperature as people are walking in and out the door right next to me, brushing my shoulder with theirs.
Man you gonna be half way to heaven by the time you pull out to fire.
Not with the level III retention holster I have, I’m just as fast with or without retention. But index retention holsters like those are a good way to shoot yourself.
Everyone who could rob you is definitely taking more notes than they ever did in high school
I love my Safariland ALS/SLS worth every penny and has been my goto for on duty carry
As a criminal I appreciate this
Lol aye atleast it’s helping people so you’ll be better off
Can't wait to need my firearm and have to work a rube Goldberg machine to get to it!
I carry a Safariland Level 2 holster. It's as fast as any of my others; you do practice from retention when you train, right?
For all the dummy’s saying this holster is terrible, this is a holster meant for security or foot patrol situations, the button is so someone can’t just come up and easily take the gun out. not meant for edc they are patrol holsters and nice ones at that.
@@jamesbroughton5201 I EDC a Level 2 holster just for retention of a gun without a manual safety. The Level 3 with a hood is overkill unless you are carrying a duty weapon openly. With practice, you can draw from any of these in time to engage a threat or they wouldn't exist. I'd be curious how many of the comments are from people who don't actually own or carry guns.
@@jamesbroughton5201 yeah it is, but the title should say it. So therefore it's being promoted to civilians and ought not be the case. Both of my Dallas police friends use these holsters, and I understand why. For everyday civilians it's a no go. I carry everyday and am a veteran
I prefer the off hand or curly bill holster position. Essentially just having the holster backwards but on the same side as your dominant draw hand.
Looka like meant just for glocks...do they prevent accidental discharged rounds?
These holsters + Sig = Trauma: Life in the ER
Joking 😂
That level III is my peace of mind!
This is why I prefer conceal carry
@@joeybaby2505 I do too. I almost always conceal. When I open carry I prefer this holster system. It’s just THIS video wasn’t about my preference.
Dawg that holster will get you killed
"Depends on the kind of work you're doing"😂
The level 1 is the best cause it gives a +speed stat but also a drop mechanic which can suck, but that speed buff comes in hand
Im a big guy and I have a hard time finding a nice holster that fits good with out it jiggling .. Where do i search the teir 3 holster?
Much like type of weapon, if it works for you and you can operate it safely, carry on. My opinion is not intended to be enforced.
@@kdawson020279 yeah I get you man. I didn't take it as anything more than an opinion. I am interested in what you were running though. Never heard of it. Is safariland the brand name? Can you post a link?
@@Stonecon Search "Safariland 6378" - that's the one I have for my S&W M&P. It's convertible from a paddle to a belt loop. Safariland is one of those groups that has subsidiaries that are public safety supply companies and military contract fulfillment people. They bought Break Free CLP, for instance, but other than the Safariland logo on the bottle it's the same old. They've kept some obscure and dying products alive because they could afford to absorb a product that doesn't make a company all by itself. Some of their stuff is meh like any supplier, but their holsters are first rate.
BHS ?
We call those negligent dischargers.
Which one and why?
@Frontline Owl factual!
Easily avoidable by practicing your draw stroke, proper finger placement or simply not having one on the chamber. 🤷🏾♂️ We can’t always have things perfect. Sometimes we gotta pick which one is more important and work around the rest.
@Frontline Owl it's only notorious to clowns/amateurs who think they can handle it... then they end up on a meme about idiots with guns. Serpa level 2 holsters are for experienced/professionals who have trigger discipline and need or want the fastest draw. If u don't have trigger discipline u probably shouldn't have a glock/gun without a manual safety and certainly should leave a serpa holster to vets
