As a retired dog groomer I hope this tips help.
1. Look up videos on how to line brush/comb. That way you can get all the way to the skin and keep those Matt's away in the future.
2. Try grooming on a table since that's what shes on at her normal place
3. If you decide to do this instead of grooming invest in professional clippers they last longer but do cost alot more because of this. Bravura is similar to what you have but professional grade
4. Look into a dematter tool it has sharp blades on it that cut the Matt so it's easier to brush/comb out.
Good luck! I hope these tips help and please ask if you have any questions im.glad to help. Also groomingsmarter on UA-cam is an amazing professional groomer that does some great videos that may help
You are so sweet to help!!
I really love this recipe. Sarah - a note to your viewers: I slice my loaf before freezing then I take out one piece at a time. For toast in morning - right from freezer to toaster. For sandwich’s- right from freezer to microwave and then use. It’s always good and for just Mom and I it lasts a long time. You’re welcome: The Papa
Notes from the Papa are always welcome! 😆
That's the way we freeze our bread, too. It works perfectly.
Great idea Dad!
Put her in the bathtub
You are a guy who knows what you are talking about! We'll take your advice any day👍
That grooming part was hilarious.
You did a great job for begineers
I love watching you and Belle interact. I can tell your relationship is very special. You are a great mom Sarah! We need more of this content on UA-cam nowadays.
I love your positive attitude. Your children have the best smiles. I think its because they were raised by such positive parents.
At the beginning of Covid about 3 months in, both our dogs were looking crazy and my husband decided he would give grooming a shot. He took the dogs one at a time in our smallest bathroom and did the haircuts. He came out wild eyed, lol. The dogs looked hilarious and he swore never again.
That's too funny!!
Hahahaha
🤣🤣🤣
The image I had in mind of your husband made me laugh. I only cut my dog as a teenager and felt like I got beaten up.
You vowed not to release this bread recipe until you got it right. So excited!
Tip from a vet tech- try grooming on a higher surface like your table or counter (while being very careful that she doesn’t jump down) This will usually keep the pup a little bit more still., especially if she is used to grooming!
Excellent advise! We always did ours in the sink, and then we would wash her after clipping so she didn’t get hair all over the house.
I couldn't stop laughing at the grooming part, not to mention the itching from the hair part. I have to sit to cut my 35 year old 6'3" son's hair because I'm unable to stand and I itch so bad after the fact because more hair gets on me than the floor. Another awesome video. Thank you!
I watch you all the time but I've never commented. I'm sitting in my craft room making a wreath and I am about to die laughing. That dog grooming was hilarious. And the music made it even funnier. Poor Belle looked like she had just been in a boxing match. Ya'll really made my night. I needed that laugh.
Thanks for sharing the bread recipe. That's the same one I've used for years. For those who are interested, Bread Beckers demonstrates it on their website with tips. Sarah, your grain mill isn't assembled correctly. There is a ring inside the flour canister at the bottom. Pull it out and it attaches to the top part of the mill to increase the pre-grind capacity. It also allows you to put the lid on when grinding to reduce noise. I bet that bread disappears fast at your house.
As a dog groomer I'm laughing at this video! It's funny when people bring their dogs in that have done home groom jobs on them. I never get to see behind the scenes of it! LOL.
I know you must laugh at what some of your clients do to their dogs!!
Thank you Sarah for sharing this bread recipe! Made 6 loaves today just like you do with bread machine and all ... 3 were devoured at once, lol
I love Seth's smile. He's adorable.
I did grooming school myself at the beginning of pandemic and i thought you would like this tip with shaving the hair. To shave a dog it is different then a human you want to go with the grain of the hair and not against it.
I have had this vacuum for 2 years. Love it!
I follow Stacy also, bought a Nutrimill because of her suggestion. Love her. If u use All purpose flour you do not need the lecithin or the gluten. In a pinch you can use an egg instead of the lecithin. The lecithin helps keep the bread intact when using freshly ground flour.
Oh the brownies! Haha. Immediately brought back a long buried memory. I got caught when I was about 5 (so 62 years ago) picking the 1st bite out of freshly baked bread. My mom had to bake bread with no salt for my dad who had a severe heart condition. So there on the counter was several loaves of bread. Until I came along. Apparently I had done it before and mom couldn't tell which kid it was that picked the middle of the loaf. Until she caught me in the act. Oh thank you so much for the warm trip down memory lane. A very special memory. You still amaze me doing all this work and still looking gorgeous.
I’m in the same group that traded their Dyson for the Shark Duo. Best vacuum ever.
You did a great job with Nessa considering a groomer has a dedicated table, standing height, with a pole that attaches the leash to keep the dog upright for the groom. I have three Lhasa Poo/Havanese w the same sort of hair & when I can't get them professionally groomed, I start by cutting the length w rounded-end scissors and THEN evening it up w the shears. The head & ears are always the hardest part. :)
Neesa is precious and I love the way she is just a another member of the family and the kid's are so good with her!
Omg love u guys!! Lol dog looks awesome....rest momma after a long day u need to relax
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!! I finally managed to make a batch last night, and even though I made a couple of minor mistakes, it was the best bread I’ve ever managed to make… when I told my family that the next batch should be even better, they couldn’t see how that would be possible!
That was so funny with Nessa bread look good Seth's smile would melt anyone
I’m in love with Seth’s cheeks
Empty bathtub and lots of little bits of cheese, she can't escape and every time she's over it, bribe her with more cheese! That's what I do for my little cavalier! God luck 😁
Great bread recipe! Tried it for the first time using freshly-milled hard white wheat berries. I let my bread machine do all the work and it finished the most beautiful crusty loaf of bread! So soft and delicious. Thanks for my new favorite bread recipe!
We have the same vacuum and I love it! I have to clean it out a lot but 🤷🏼♀️ It’s honestly the best one I’ve had so far.
poor dog lol!!! yall tried though it looked better than i could do but. looks like she liked it too.
We have had that Shark vacuum for about a year and a half and we LOVE it!!!
Congrats Sarah and Bell! Did a good job. I always put my little dog on a table with an old towel under him. He was used to it and it went real well!
I groomed my dog at home for years before he died - he always looked a little goofy for a few weeks until he started growing back a little bit. 😂 But he was terrified of the groomer, so we made it work. I learned a new grooming skill just this morning - I clipped our bird's wings!
Reminds me of my daughter and I trying to give her dog a haircut. 😂
We finally called the mobile groomer which was great!
You don't need to heat/melt your coconut oil before dumping it into your bread recipe. We scoop it roughly with the measuring cup, then just plop it out (a knife helps) into the bread machine. The kneading breaks it up and spreads it evenly. Bread machines usually knead at a slightly warm temp, too.
Lolol, I tape favorite recipes to my cabinet too💜
I have a small dog like yours and for years I cut her hair using round nose paper scissors. Yes it was choppy but I never cut her skin. I did graduate to real hair cutting scissors, which really improved my dog grooming but for the tricky close to the skin cuts I went back to the kiddy scissors. Here they charge $45 to groom the dog and that just wasn't in the budget so she had some bad hair cuts but the sweet girl never once complained. Loved the pretested brownies but you have to wonder who thought no one would notice that the center of the brownie was gone. Too cute.
We also had to groom our Yorkie for months when the groomers were closed for COVID. Now she back on her monthly appointments. We have a freezer alarm. Gives us peace of mind knowing we won’t lose everything in the freezer
That is a very nice bread 🍞 😋 recipe! Your homemade bread always looks great 😊👍💕💕💕
Grooming a long haired dog is hard! My groomer deserves a big tip she's awesome!! Bread looks delicious and the brownies too!
After this experience I really respect groomers!!
Thank you for normalizing moms who forget what number they were at even when you only have to count to 4.. this is me EVERY. TIME. 🤣🥴😑
This 💯%
Nessa is such a cute dog! She really, really makes me want a puppy like her. 🥰 Seth is SO stinking cute and very advanced! I love watching him walk around and smile. 💜 Girl I do not know how you do ALL that you do!? lol But seriously...you are super mom! Thanks for sharing your sweet family with us. Love from Tennessee
Ok the bread. THANK YOU!! because I have been doing the fresh ground wheat for about a year and have been struggling to get it right. Had no idea I needed to add the gluten. And the bread machine trick is so much easier. ❤️
Sarah, we have a Maltese mix.... shes a year old.....she’s the absolute joy of our lives.... but we have the same exact problem..... I brush our Sasha regularly, daily even for up to 30 minutes a day and we STILL get Matt’s..... her hair is SO SO thick and SO LONG!!!
I also can not get her into the groomer for over 7 weeks.... (we just opened back up here recently) so we will be doing it ourselves in the next few days!! I’m a nervous wreck about it!! (Waiting for my 18 year old to have his days off from work to help)
Lord help our poor puppy 💕❤️🙏🤪.....
She looked really good I think, you guys did a great job!! !! I’m sure much better than my Sasha will look 🤪😜
Much Love from Oregon, 💕❤️🌲
~Trina~
I need to try this bread recipe. I've never made fresh bread but really want to try.
The Bread Becker’s recipe is our favorite too! I reduced the oil and honey to 1/4 cup each (at the beginning of the pandemic when grocery shopping was challenging) and we didn’t notice any difference. I have kept it that way to lower the cost a little.
I’ve groomed my dog since she was a puppy. I put her in the tub and shut the door to distractions. Also controls the mess. I just always figured it would be less stressful on her than a stranger in a new environment. Plus wayyyyyyyu cheaper!
My husband has always groomed our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. He’s almost 11 years old now and has always hated loud noises. ( I wash him in the tub but I always let him dry on his own, the noise of a hair dryer would be to much) I do take him to the groomers to get his nails cut though! I worry about cutting them to close and making them bleed. ❤️ he still doesn’t like to be groomed but puts up with it...
Brave lady!!
Thanks for sharing. Watching your video feels like a visit with a sweet friend. Shalom from Israel. We recently switched over to artisan bread (due to a family member having diabetes). Just flour, yeast, salt and water. Kids can mix it with a wooden spoon. Once it rises, coat with flour and plop in the middle of a baking sheet. Place a tray of water under the pan in a very hot oven (440f) for 20-25 minutes. Easy. So fun to see how it fluffs up for that Aiden Brad look. Tastes amazing (since it's basically the same ingredients as the craft paste my mom used to make for us as kids... Minus the yeast). Enjoy your beautiful, growing family. Of our ten kids, only one left at home. Eight married. Wait until you try to remember birthdays of your grandchildren.... But you've got time.
Super fun and interesting video. Blessings!
My daughter got me the same vaccuum that you have and I love it.
That have alarms on Amazon that are two pieces, one goes into the freezer, the other goes on the wall and will sound an alarm if the temperature gets above a certain temperature. They're about $20 if I remember. Worth the peace of mind! I have 2 of them!
She is that cutest dog! Love her!
We had a Maltese for 18 years. Our breeder informed us that she would likely prefer resting on high places (sofa backs, our shoulders, etc). He was right!
awwwwwww Nessa is completely adorable!!!
Using honey instead of sugar in bread makes it taste SO MUCH BETTER. We use a very similar recipe.
I am testing out a new bread machine for the first time today - picked up a 25 pound bag of bread/pizza dough flour from Sam's yesterday - can't wait to starting baking my own bread on a regular basis - I will try this recipe - thanks for sharing!
Haha. I learned to groom my pups myself thru trial and error and have saved soooo much $$$! Keep at it! It will get easier! It’s also easier after a groom bc then you have something to use as a guide (if it’s not too grown out!). I still experience oopsie grooms but the hairs grows pretty quick and there are also sweaters to cover up big mess ups. 🤣😂🤣 Love your vlogs and congrats on your little one on the way!
Your video brought back some funny memories of my family and I trying to groom our little schnauzer all the time! We definitely didn't do a fancy, professional job, but we always got the job done and had lots of laughs trying to spiff her up to the best of our abilities! She passed almost ten years ago, and we still miss our Heidi Jo 💙
Loved the grooming! I have never cut our yorkies and am scared to try! 🤣🤣
The bread looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it! Brownies looked really really good too! Yummmmmm I love brownies! Congratulations on the pregnancy, I was tearing up in your announcement video the other day, as I too strongly believe that every baby is a blessing! I started too late in life, so we only have 5, which is a lot so disregard the “only”, hehe.....but I love to watch all the larger family vloggers! I would’ve loved to have many more if I could’ve! I’ve been watching your family for many many years, and I know you’ve shared on a blog before where you got those covered shelves you have in the front room by where you were grooming your cute dog, but I can’t seem to find it.....
we are desperate for storage like that so I’d love to know please!!!!! Thank you! Your children are wonderfully polite, kind, and gifted! I love your family so much!
We've had that vacuum for almost 2 years now. It's pretty good but can get clogged by a cheeze-it. When that happens it won't suck anything up and with grid up and throw crumbs everywhere when you lift it. Also hair will wrap around the roller. We take a razor or box cutter to it monthly to cut the hair away.
For Nessa’s mats, just take the hair around the mat and then make a couple snips into it length wise. Then use a dog grooming comb to brush the mat out. My friend had an Old English Sheepdog and I would help her get the mats out. It’s always worse with their ears.
Dog groomers use a table with a adjustable hanging collar and another thin strap that holds them in the centre.
You and Belle did a great job!
Belle is worth her weight in gold. She’s always up to the challenge and determined to try until she gets it right.
I so look forward to all your video’s. It makes my day when I see your notification bell!
Thanks for the tips!
I have my meat split between my freezers in case of a failure I don't lose it all. But I check mine daily too and one has an alarm. The other one is in the laundry room so I'm seeing it often.
Thanks for the recipe!
I like to bake fresh bread for communion at church so I might try this recipe!
I’ve been using this recipe with my home milled Kamut flour, omitting the gluten and lecithin. It is so easy and delicious! Much easier than using a kitchen aid or hand mixing. Thank you!!!
I highly recommend you invest in the Andis Excel 5 speed clippers. A cheaper clipper doesn't compare to these at all. Use cooling spray on the blade often throughout the cut. Brush the dog well before the cut and don't let too long go in between cuts and you will have a much easier time. I have had to learn this on my own during the last year and life is so much easier now.
Our Yorkie tolerates being groomed. We do it at home. It takes time when they’re not used to you doing it. We give him a good summer cut one or twice a year depending on how fast his hair grows and how hot it is outside. We let it grow otherwise. It’s a two part process when we trim him though. One to trim and one to bathe. Both make him mad, so we like to give him a break bc we know he just tolerates both.
She turned out pretty good for your first time.
When my sons were young, the freezer was a problem with them not shutting it completely. I started making a rule that they lock it every time they opened it. Worked for us.
We have tried that but somehow it just gets left open anyway>>>!
I love whole grain bread! So beautiful!
Awwww, your puppy looked adorable 💜
Can smell the bread through the video. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Sarah the bread looks good and the bread will be gone in a couple of days. Bell brownies looks delicious and some one always have to sneak a piece of something sweet. Great job on thr grooming guys.
We have a freezer alarm and it’s definitely worth it! 💖
I have the same clippers. I love it!!! I started grooming my dog since the pandemic.
I love your channel. I don't know how you do it all. God bless.
Puppy, "I'm laughing with you, not at you".I have mini foxy so love all puppies. Gosh your dog has grown! Bless you all, Diana NZ
Thank you for the laugh! I needed it. After years of working in the Veterinary & Animal Rescue industry, I felt this. I love wiggly puppies! ❤️🐶
Also, thank you for the vacuum recommendation. On top of my 3 kiddos ages 13, 11, & 5, I’ve been taking care of my eldest daughter’s 3 kids ages 12, 4, & 18 months, because she & her husband are nurses working the Covid ward in a Hospital the next town over. My poor old vacuum can’t handle the loads of Cheerios as well as other messes that come with a toddler. 💖
bread looks great
She is now a ruff, tuff powder puff dog. Bet she feels better too!
We found a favorite bread recipe last year and one of my kids THREW IT AWAY!!!! 🤦🏻♀️ We’ve been searching ever since. Will need to try this one! 😋
“Come here Nessa!”
Dog: I’ll pass.
😂😂
The groomer really makes there money! God bless your family!
Oh what joy lol doggie grooming at home 😃 we had several French Poodles and always groomed ourselves, definitely a two people job.
Saved us a ton of money !!!
We have to groom our dog too. She’s used to it. She is a lot bigger. It helps to put her on a table. She hates getting her legs shaved. 😂
Lol now I'm all itchy!!! I swear I can feel hair in my nose 🤣🤣
I loved the music with the dog hair clipping..it sounded like a circus, which was just exactly what it was! 🤣
I feel like you're my mom in a weird way. I have pretty bad anxiety and chronic pain and watching your videos is so soothing like I'm hanging out with my mom. Thanks for continuing to post videos.
I have an almost 8yr old cocker spaniel who has always gone to the groomer. Well, last year I was able to get him groomed at the beginning of March, then his groomer shut down. It was the end of July before I could get him in again. I bought a set of clippers to do exactly what you did. The first time I was scared to death I'd mess him up. But I did an ok job. I keep his face teimmed between grooming appt. He actually goes next Thursday to get his Summer shave down. You guys did a good job!
Home ground is the best! I've had my Nutrimill for 16+yrs and still going strong!! Bread Beckers has some great info!!
Lecithin is an emulsifier. I have Now brand too. Got mine at Natural Grocers. I had 2 bread machines and 2 of other things when my oldest 8 were all home. Makes life easier!
I have that vacuum and I love it!
Our beagle loves to sit on the back of couches! 😁
I can relate to grooming the dog!It takes 3 of us to trim to 7lb pomeranians!!They fight us like wild animals!LoL 😆
Try standing nessa in an empty bath tub , she won’t escape so much and the hair is contained and very easy just to vacuum up and disinfect the bath afterwards !xxxx🌸💕💖🌸💕💖🌸💕💖🌸💕💖🌸💕💖🌸💕💖
You and Belle did a great job as first time grooming your puppy 🐶 👏 ❤ 😊👍💕💕💕
The first couple times our dog (who is 60lbs and fluffy looked like a drowned rat but then she started looking so great plus its so much less expensive for us (saves us $120 every 6 weeks or so) that bread looks so good! Thanks for sharing 👍 love you guys and looking forward to the new baby. God is Good
I have been waiting for this bread recipe😍 . I have been inspired by you and have been mostly buying one ingredient foods for the past 2 months, which means I can not buy bread anymore and have to bake it myself. I have never baked bread before. As I know you like keeping things simple, I waited for this recipe rather than finding something else. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Loved this video
We got our Bread machine from a garage sale. $5.00! In original box including the wedding card tucked side. Pretty safe to say they're still wondering who gave it to them. LOL.
Thanks for being you!
My blue heeler lays on the back of the couch too. We always say he is part cat!
You were very brave to try and groom her. It is not easy. Groomers should get a lot of respect for what they do. I know I appreciate mine!
I do too!!
😁😄🤣I had a dog that had to be groomed. This brings back lots of memories.
Those loaves of bread look so good!! 😋
You and Belle did a great job!! She is a cute sweet puppy
