I like how you went straight to the point in this video - no intro, no nonsense! Straight to the mission!
But what will the people who like the nonsense do…? Can we compromise on 50% more nonsense than this and 50% less nonsense than usual…?🥴☺️
Liked it too, but I still have a great appreciation for the all-knowing all-seeing baby at the center of the universe showing up once in a while.
@@flayshon exactly…you get it…👍🏽

"4 hours of walking really cuts into your your day."
As a man without a car, I can confirm this. I had to change my Fitbit targets since I reached most dailies before getting to work. My calves are +amazing+ though.
I have no car. Yes, it takes longer to get to the grocery store but my calves are fire.
How far is your work?
I walk to work as well! It takes me 25 minutes or is 2km! I also walk my kids to school (there and back is also 2km)
So I’m often at 6000 steps by the time I get to work in the morning!
@@jakubs.6767 around 2.1 miles, or 3.38km. but I go for a run before work so 10k steps was too small a target and got annoying checking my Fitbit for why it kept buzzing. It just gave me weird motivators, like "you've achieved your week's goals!" on a Tuesday afternoon headed home.
I always go over 20k steps a day, and I sincerely need an Audible sponsor to support my habits!
Yeah, funny how walking develops calves. Nobody believes my calves originally grew from walking off my weight. They think it happened at the gym.
I can’t believe I just spent 20 minutes watching you walk! You are hysterical and amusing and I’ve just started a 10,000 step a day challenge. Great job!
Hillarious! 😂😂😂
Me again. My Colorverglasung joined me ^^
Im obese but my new job has given me the chance to walk 20,000 steps 4 days a week 👍👍 I’m 3 weeks in, and I’m down 15 pounds already.
damn, you prolly fit as fuck now
What position are you in if you don't mind me asking
Normal. I lost same amount in Sam's time span. Alot of it is water your body was retaining
@@mom4u412012 it’s fatty acids binding with water and releases
Observe the video…20,000 steps is hard on the body and mind and tough to maintain even at 4 times a week. I’ve done 20,000 steps many times. After 12,000 it’s like…WILL THIS EVER END! So, I do around 12000 steps one shot 5 times a week at a decent pace (occasionally more if I have to go for groceries) which brings me up to around 16,000 - 18,000 steps. Really, there is no need for more that 10,000-12,000 if walking at a decent pace.
I lost 60 lbs in one summer walking a 4.2 mile loop trail in a state park 3 to 5 times a week. I did make 1 modification to my diet. I ate a whole carrot every time I wanted a snack and after the carrot if I still wanted to eat that snack I would. I loved it.
I did something like this, but instead of the carrot, I smoked a crack pipe... killed my appetite dead. Lost some friends and family over it, but also 14lbs.

as a non-car-owner, one of the things i like best about walking so much is highlighted in your video: popping into that market to find a tasty treat and discovering a path you'd never noticed before. the freedom in mobility and exploration is pretty fantastic on your feet.
A related story about walking;
I live in a middle of nowhere village in England with no signal and a lot of dog walkers. My favourite thing is we have two single old people in the village; both widows and they're BFFLs and live across the road from each other. Their routine is to wake up, go for a very long walk, have breakfast at Brian's House, and then in the afternoon they go for another walk and have lunch at Margaret's.
Margaret is the village gossip and she's lovely and Brian has a little Jack Russel dog and a walking staff (think gandalf). They have such a wholesome friendship and it all started bc they kept walking the same route every day ☺
Oh. I love how cozy that sounds.
My 90 year old gran has a walking gang where every morning they walk 3 miles and gossip about the grandkids. Makes me look forward to being old :)
It sounds like a children's story by Cynthia Rylant, the "Mr. Putter and Tabby" series. Lols
So cute❤️
Well done, Craig! Nothing like Type 2 Diabetes and the fear of losing your feet to make you lose 35lbs in 18 months from diet alone - me, (neuropathy keeps me below 2 miles of walking per day, unfortunately). Was 202lbs in Jan 2021, at 5'9" (214lbs in Jan 2018). Now at 166lbs and dropping. Goal - 150lbs Jan 2023 and Diabetes beaten
- with workouts
I wish you all the best with your goal. I'm also t2d with a lot of bs # struggles and a shiny new insulin routine. I have a garden & chickens that help keep me moving, but it's just not enough. I live in a rural area where going for a walk is complicated by terrible roadways and heavy traffic. I'd love to walk, but I am also afraid of getting plowed over by a dump truck going 20 miles over the posted speed limit.
@@rebekahyoder9335 I've found treadmill + super interesting podcasts or watching a movie while I walk on a treadmill makes it fun.
Diabetes is never “beaten” yeah i dropped my a1C to normal levels and no longer have to take metformin, but I’m still diabetic. So are you
That's amazing! I'm happy for you.
Plant-based diet helped my wife reverse her diabetes, if that's of any help to you. She's been in remission for 5 years now. I wish you all the best in your journey!
I’ve been walking at 4 am every day for 7 years. It’s addictive. I often hit between 20-30k steps a day. I love it. It’s so therapeutic.
Yeah I do anywhere between 20/30k 6 days a week. (My job)
I can relate to the mental benefits and clarity it provides.
When I have time off though for annual leave or whatever I try and let my body rest a bit - but when I do I miss the walking!
yup, been waking up and walking/running for about an hour and a half, only been doing it for 4 months now but it’s definitely addicting
You guys lost fat,??
@@SonuSharma-vh5ef yeah, went from 245 to 185. on top of eating clean of course. still going strong
@@Wizard.Performance wow that's great bro I'm also looking forward to taking my daily steps to 20k cuz I really need to lose that weight.
Suggestion for another challenge: "I ate without doing other stuff at the same time for 30 days". Personally, I'm so used to automatically turning on a video or podcast or checking texts while eating that I don't know if I could physically consume food while just staring into space. Sometimes I spend a bunch of time preparing a nice meal but barely appreciate it as I'm eating because I'm watching a UA-cam video and writing a comment. Like I just did, with a chocolate bar that just added 250 calories to my day whether or not I noticed the experience of eating it.
This is a great idea! It's hard for me to just and eat as well.
Good idea! Living alone i find myself always looking for a noise
My wife pointed out to me recently how privilege we are as men to decide to just up and go for a walk. We live in a quiet area of rural England and still she makes sure to tell me where she’s going, when she’ll be back and doesn’t take unlit paths. Bummer. Sort of only half related. Enjoyed the video 👍
Yeah, I am 25, female, very thin and petite. I started walking around my supposedly safe and quiet community and this guy started chasing after me, lost me in a local store, chased me again, managed to get help from a family, lost him and ran home. Never did it again. I'm always on edge because I know all it takes is one crazed person to end my life and/or get even more trauma.
I think your wife is scared for no reason. I'm a woman in a small city and walk all hours. then again, I believe in my own safety
@@cheery-hex I’m sure Sarah Everard and Bibaa Henry did too
@@cheery-hex a small city in some ways is safer than rural areas. That’s great that you feel safe but many women don’t feel safe walking in their towns. I live in a big city in a great neighborhood so I usually feel safe. But the neighborhood over makes me feel on edge at any time of day
Yes, there's definitely a different baseline feeling of safety going out depending on how much others see you as a target. Communicating that you're going on a ramble is good regardless, in case you have some accident and someone needs to go look for you.
I live in suburbs, and the area I can safely walk feels pretty small because the main road (a high speed divided highway) doesn't have consistent sidewalks; pedestrians are killed in car accidents a couple of times a year. I take laps around the neighborhood, but limit longer walks that require using that main road. Personally, I feel more free taking a walk in the country where I'm unlikely to run into people, but I also grew up going for woodland walks with my grandparents. There are some rural places where I feel running into any other person makes my danger-sense go to red alert; I trust my instincts and don't return there.
This video came across my feed and I was like, “If I can watch a guy mow a lawn for 20 minutes, I’ll watch this guy walk.” I genuinely enjoyed your humor. And then, I thought, “I wonder what else he makes videos about” and I saw that you have 1.1M subscribers! Must be some good content. I look forward to it.
Same 😊
Honestly, this might be the most impressive one yet. The time and energy commitment is super high, but you did it! Congrats! Walking really improved my life as well but with far fewer steps. Just walking my dog daily (sometimes twice if my wife isn't home) is good for me. I listen to audio books and I move my body and it's nice. Breaks up the day too. However, my "good job!" days are 10-14k. A normal day is about 8k and that feels good. I've hit 20k only a few times and the pain the next day led to me hardly walking at all for two days after. Balance is key.
I mean 8000 to 10000 is Just fine :). I recently Started walking aswell and i want to make it a daily routine aswell.
Wow that's interesting. I work part time as a waitress, and on almost every shift I hit 20K, I guess my legs are so conditioned that I am not in pain the next day. But I agree, usually 8-14K makes me feel like I have a great and active day.
@@tundevirag755 Absolutely you are conditioned for it. Likewise trying talking all day when you normally don't, and your voice will hurt. This is no problem for teachers because that's what they do every day! The human body is pretty amazing, really.
@@tundevirag755 same for me, I work in healthcare and walk around all day
@@BradColemanisHere how old are you (if you don't mind me asking?)
When you were walking around at night alone, I realized that as a woman, I wouldn’t be able to walk so freely at night. People are weird if not actually dangerous to women walking alone at night. And then if not at night, just being miles and miles away without a car or public transit to take you back. It makes me kind of afraid to be without transport that far from home. There are rideshare apps of course but idk something about this makes me feel too vulnerable (especially as a woman).
Also it’s amazing that you are able to commit so much time to this, but it seems like it’s because your life is very flexible in comparison to others. At most you have to fit it around your wife and your daughter. Your work and workout schedule can be moved around to whenever.
Time commitment for this one is huge. Ive been doing 10k a day since covid and that's probably around 2 hours so to commit 4 hours a day to 20k is no mean feat. Helped me lose 58lbs so far. 25.9% bodyfat now going in the right direction 😊 Now doing a couch to 5k and wife and I also got a treadmill so got no excuse not to hit the target now.
I misread that last sentence as "couch to 5k and wife, and I also got a treadmill" and I was like damn, that's an ambitious program but good luck
Keep going, and look out when you get to your goal. It’ll take a couple of years after for your body to settle at the new equilibrium.
But losing 100lbs is the best thing I’ve ever done. 110% totally worth it.
You got it!
1 or 2 yrs
walk faster, probably can squeeze 10k down to about an hour
@@joesr31 lol... we're walking cos we can run 🤣🤣😂
The feelings you described in your first two weeks are extremely relatable
Especially about stumbling upon things and scenarios you'd otherwise miss. Hard to explain to people who don't do it, but you literally just go on a walk, and then just keep going and try out new "routes" lol. It's awesome, and I'm glad for you
This is really inspiring, thank you. I am in no way going to do 20,000 steps a day any time soon, but I think I'm going to start with 3,500 a day, which I know is totally doable, and ramp up from there.
That's awesome! I've actually done some research and it turns out that half an hour of walking per day (which is around 3000 steps) already significantly lowers stress. So know that it's already beneficial!
That’s a great goal! A few months ago I noticed I was only getting about 1200 steps a day. I don’t have a watch so this was from my iPhone. I’ve been able to consistently get 4k now but I’m finding it harder to get more than that regularly since my house is off a main road without sidewalks. I usually hit 8k on days where I run errands though
@@floedsje Since I wrote this comment, I accidentally walked 13,000 steps 😂 Tomorrow I'm shooting for 3500, though.
@@flibbertygibbette well, you got the over achiever badge.
@ForeverDreamWithinADream I'm currently averaging about 3500-5000 so it's all good, heh
Love this! 20,000 steps is no joke. I really wish walking around a city or park or anywhere in the dark alone was an option for women. I even get a little freaked out if I'm walking alone on a trail in the early morning sometimes. Too many murder shows, I guess.
Yeah true crime podcast habits definitely put a damper on late evening walks alone lol
My family worry about me , the city is 15mins away and I would go into the city after work 10pm to go for a walk it's well light and people around but am a nurse I get over exhausted and then Need to walk to rest my mind.
Being an occasional practitioner of 10k steps per day, I'd have to concur. 20k is no joke whatsoever. I've hit that latter number only when I'm on vacay and do a lot of casual walking/resting/walking/resting type of activity. It's tough.
Walk indoors
Problem solved
Carry a gun with you so if someone is being creepy you can kill them
I love that we got to see the baby geese growing up throughout this video. Also congrats on a successful month (+3 days)!
The baby geese need their own sequel
When I started my walking, I discovered goose nests nearby. I watched them hatch and grow up, spent lots of time with them. 5 generations later and I'm still walking to visit the geese. They're actually super friendly when they know you 😂
I watched this video about five days ago and immediately was inspired to follow lose it just like you did, and I’ve been walking with a goal of 20k steps per day too. I’ve lost 5 pounds already. This video was exactly what I needed. Thanks Craig!
Did you continue?
I remember when Craig used to punch eagles. I think moving on to swearing at geese is what we in the biz call character development?
I've just clocked in my first 20,000+ steps after seeing this video. Whether or not this will evolve into a challenge depends on how I feel when I wake up tomorrow, but I've already logged more steps in a single day than I've ever achieved before. :)
Keep going!
Been 2 months. How’s it going?
When you said "Some people drive to the grocery store. Suckers, NOT ME! I walk..." it made me proud. Most of Europe (from what I know) people prefer walking to the store. At least for shopping just daily things or something you need to fill up on right now. If we stock up freezer and so on we probably drive to a supermarket and fill a cart or two. And as an example... I live in Sweden and here we have foot/biking paths all over the country. I could walk from the south of Sweden to the north on almost exclusivly foot paths.
I went for 2 years without a car. Getting groceries SUCKED, everything is sold in in big packages (ie heavy) and the routes often involve walking along highways. Having been to parts of europe, its often the same distance to the grocery store, but its a much nicer walk (alleyways, tight residential roads, shaded treed areas). Sweeping generalizations, but walking for groceries (as your only method to get groceries) sucks in North America.
Same as in the netherlands
I’ve watched on and off over the past 10 years and of everyone I’ve continued to watch I think you have been the most inspirational and life changing. Your videos really stick with me in ways I didn’t expect. Thank you
Wow! I'm a biologist that hikes and backpacks around looking and all things nature and I can't imagine forcing myself to walk to just get steps. I do 8-10 miles a day and am exhausted, but also hills suck. Amazing job craig! Definitely pat yourself on the back that's a lot of walking! You basically backpacked a trail around the city and neighborhood. Also I was dying laughing at the American flag bit. Love your humor. And I love that Chyna has the same humor and never misses a beat.
Your commentary is actually really enjoyable. I've seen a ton of videos like this and yours was the most fun to watch (you didnt drag on endlessly about health and weight loss THANK GOD)

Two years ago after a dramatic change in my personal situation I moved to Florida for most of that year. I quickly realized what a mistake moving to that pit of a state was. After several nervous breakdowns, issues with living with my family, severe depression etc., I started doing 20,000 per day. At first it was completely by accident then a daily goal. I did that every single day for around six months straight. Even in the rain. I only skipped a day or two when the storms were too much. Every single evening I was out there, earbuds in listening to music and podcasts.
I became a part of the landscape of the area I lived in. Walked right up to my local coyotes. Crossed paths with many poisonous snakes. Made friend with a local owl that would look for me every night while I was out there. Those 20,000 steps kept me alive until I was able to leave that black hole of a state and go back home. I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for those nightly walks. My favorite shoes had no soles left at the end of all of that. Wore right through. I’m grateful that my job right now has me doing between 10 and 20 thousand steps per day outdoors, daily.
When I was in Florida for two months everyone was smiling and said hi , even teenagers, as I walked my 4 miles on the beach daily. Winter in Florida beats winter in ct anytime!
it helped with the depresso?
I’m glad you are safe and back home. I understand about toxic family members. Take care of yourself. Your walks sound magical.

I don't work and if I don't walk I gain weight. I average 10 miles per day. It takes around 3 hours 15 minutes. I break it up into 2 walks. It really keeps the weight off.
I agree with the walking and logging calories for weight loss strategy. Biking is a bit more fun though and burns around the same calories
Calories counting isn't great. It's a chore that's unsustainable and depressing.
Mindful eating is much better. You learn to listen to your own cues.
@@acmulhern I sorta agree with you, but I think counting calories in the beginning of weight loss gives a lot of information that can drive a person to realize how over maintenance they truly are. As a person who has lost, gained, and then re-lost/kept the weight off, it always helped to have an “info-period” to readjust my mind to what I’m actually eating, but overall, no, I don’t think counting past a couple months is sustainable in the long term.
@@acmulhern Best practices is to count calories for at least a month so you better understand the caloric content of the foods you typically eat. This is usually a mind-blowing experience for people who have never tracked their calories before, whether or not you're trying to gain weight/muscle or simply lose body fat. This should be accompanied by using a BMR / TDEE calculator so you know your maintenance calories and what a surplus or deficit actually looks like in the real foods you eat at the amounts you eat them. Only by establishing a base level understanding can you even begin to think of "mindful eating" - otherwise you're just operating in a vacuum of ignorance about how your own individual body operates.
Not to mention, most people have little to no understanding of what foods contain what amount of calories, or the caloric differences between macronutrients. Counting calories at the beginning of a body transformation is widely regarded as a meaningful and enlightening step by most all nutrition and training professionals. And like the other person said, it's not something you do forever - it's simply foundational education for anyone serious about changing their bodies.
@@acmulhern Listening to your own cues is how people get into binge eating disorders and fall off the wagon. Our bodies can be deceptive. There has to be thought and commitment to an entire lifestyle change. "Just listen to your body" is generally bad advice if you're already in bad habits.
Most people assume that "working out" needs to be this super aggressive, high intensity thing all the time. And that's why most people fail and never stick to a workout routine. Literally just moving throughout the day -- say if you do this and log around 15-10k steps daily, is really more movement than 1-2 hours at the gym. It can be this easy. Overall movement, raising your NEAT, is more sustainable and less miserable than committing to a HIIT workout or running at the crack of dawn for no reason.
The past 7 weeks i've tried upping my steps to about 10k after i realized i sit all day long and i never thought i would enjoy or appreciate walking so much. the last 3 days or so i've had a flare up of pain in my knees and ankles from a chronic illness and it has honestly made me realize how blessed i am to be able to have a fully functioning body most of the time. i've begun craving the movement which i never imagined happening.
On another topic, I want to compliment you on the creative ways you’ve found to include Ada while never compromising her safety. Well done, Dada. (I liked it when she called you guys Mama and Dada.)
Been doing this for about the last 10 days. 20k is no joke but honestly I sleep and feel so much better. You’re always tired afterwards but it’s like a good tired. Definitely get hungry a lot so the calorie intake has increased as well. It helps to have a treadmill. I usually just hop on it for a mile or so every 1-2 hours and that does it.
Watching Craig make jokes about his surroundings is my new favorite thing
"America" 😃🇦🇺
I've been getting my 10k steps everyday as of the last month and have found that it helps with my adherence to my diet. I have severely underestimated the power of walking. I think I'll continue that for the rest of my life hopefully!
Semi-related note - I've been having chronic gut issues (bloating, constipation etc) for years and a few months ago started tracking my macros (fat/carbs/protein) based off of some calculations my wife provided (from the book Unlock you Macro Type). Turns out I was eating 2x the amount of fat I should have been, and not nearly enough protein and carbs. Feeling WAY better now - only rare instances of gut issues. And yes walking is rad, although 10K/day is plenty for me.
I have a herniated disc in my lumbar spine & the only thing that keeps me pain free while it heals is walking 11,000 steps a day. I hate walking (prefer bike riding) and I hate the heat/ humidity haha but I sleep and feel SO much better in general. I also think it's better than cycling for most of my body.
It takes me about 2 hours to do 11,000. If it's too hot, I do what you did and do 2 30 minute laps in my house to a podcast and 1 longer walk in the evening. On the path, I like to challenge myself to catch up to people to keep a faster pace. I also heard if you focus on something in the distance, it'll help with a faster pace too! Thanks for the video, I might have to try 20,000 one day!
You're the best, WheezyWaiter. The self-improvement challenges are so inspiring.
This is my first time watching your channel. Love this. Honest and humorous. I have done the circles inside at night before. Looking forward to more vids.
Hilarious video! The run ins with the geese really cracked me up. That was a big time commitment to do that much walking, it kind of inspired me to get moving (not 20,000 steps though).
I am also walking 10k steps even after reaching a healthy weight (used to be obese).
It a great way to exercise your heart and parts of your calves.
Burning 200-300 calories extra is a perfect way to exercise if you are unable to run for longer distance like me and still want to lose weight.
This is something you add after fixing your diet.
Stay in a calorie deficit to lose weight
It doesn’t matter what type of diet you follow to achieve the calorie deficit.
Also, end of video thoughts, this is 1000% why i wish we had more accessible walkability in America.
Wow, 20k steps is amazing in one day, much less EVERY DAY for so long! I have health challenges (EDS) and try to walk a couple times daily, but 10k steps is a huge day for me and I couldn't imagine achieving what you've done. WELL DONE!
10K is a good day for anybody and a much more realistic goal for the non obsessed. 10k is doable.
What has really helped me walk more is that I made a desk for my treadmill that I can work from. It's nothing for me to log 4-6mi in one go, and I feel like it helps me to be more productive on my computer because the walking keeps my mind occupied enough that I don't feel the need to fidget. (I am aware this isn't an option for everyone and I feel very lucky to have access to a walking desk and treadmill.)
I have been enjoying your videos so much!! I try to walk about 3 miles a day and that feels like it takes forever, so, wow, well done!! Also, I’m terrified of geese and we have ones with children near a pond I walk by. Frickin’ frickers!!! They hiss at me too! They’re the worst!
I started walking every single day since Black Friday (minimum of 10,000 steps but up to 20,000). Aside from a break from getting covid, I am over 1300 miles. Off bp meds, clothes fit great.
Great video, thank you!
As someone who’s averaged over 10k steps a day for the last few years, I would summarise as this:
A dedicated 30 minute walk is consistently recommended as the best and easiest exercise for your heart. 30 mins will get you to 5k. General daily activity will likely get you to 10k. Very easy, very manageable. Take care everyone!
You're thinking walking 30 minutes is 5 kilometer???
This is like the exact distance i grt with moderate running (~6 min/1 kilometer). Do you really walk this fast or was it a typo?
@@theunmobablespes6582 Ha! Sorry, I meant 5k (5000) steps :D I think distance wise.... I cover 4Km in 30 mins? I do walk quickly though, have been doing this for around 25 years at this point.
@@jameskenny3159 ORLY!?
@@theunmobablespes65825k not 5km 😂
Loved this video! This challenge (and the newsletter) have inspired me to aim for 10,000 steps a day which feels great. Not always hitting it but I am walking waaaay more
I love that you did the 20k steps a day challenge. 10k is relatively easy, but 20k is a real time commitment. It becomes a mental game.
For the uninitiated, "Two Guys Talking About Lettuce." is a masterful demonstration of two guys with extremely different names being able to stay 100% on-topic (the topic being lettuce) for about 40 minutes at a time. But after 40 minutes, anything goes.
Sounds like a perfect podcast to listen to while getting my steps in. Gonna check it out.
Hubby and I have been on the fence about trying Factor so when we saw that they were your sponsor we decided to finally give them a try. Love your content and your family is just beautiful. Hope all good things come your way! Thanks for all the smiles
I took up walking (about an hour a day) during the pandemic and I've kept it up! It's such a good habit, makes me enjoy the outdoors and see some nature, I've noticed it improves my mood too. Highly recommend - oh and get yourself a rain jacket and you'll be good to walk in rain too!
Good on you for creating a good new habit. Just as a side note for someone else on a walking journey, you can also match in place and the steps count ( though the distance won’t show obviously). I have found doing a 7 minute March every 30 minutes or hour depending on scheduling really works well . Since I am able to keep a brisk pace for such a short time, I get the steps in and burn more calories. I think it may be a bit of a HIIT kinda thing that happens . But it is a good idea if you have time constraints where you can’t do full hours sessions of walking
I’ve been doing this for 22 days. I started challenging myself to do 10k steps everyday and very soon I realized it’s a commitment easily threaten by winter storms and crazy -30c weather, so I started marching in place using my cushion kitchen pad, and that evolved into running in place, and just like you, every hour or so I put my iwatch into a “indoor run in place”, turn on music and hit 1000 steps in 7 mins. It has become my all time favourite thing this winter, everyday I meet my 10k steps and I don’t consider this exercise just movement. So simple and relaxing.
Goose poop has been my biggest annoyance during my daily walks....That and sweat dripping in my eyes.
Goose poop drips in your eyes? Gah-rossss
Time to train all the goose in the area to use your toilet.
Walking is also a great stress-buster…Those days when you’re feeling down, a long walk will help so much. Also, if you’re having trouble with your sleep, walking will also help with that.
Man... that is a huge commitment. I remember back in my single 20's when I was working on training for a marathon and I'd basically work, commute home, run, eat, and go to bed. You did this all while raising a human and being married!
The first time I tried keto I combined it with walking and it was great. I’ve tried it a couple more times without the walking and it didn’t have quite the same effect. This has definitely reminded me that no matter what I do I need to keep walking.
This is brilliant, ever since I've started working from home I've been taking a walk every lunch break and it's done so much good!
I am 43 and 8 years ago I had a stroke which left me with a paralasis on my left side that affected my leg, hand and half the face. I had to do major recovery where my doctor said that walking is the best exercise to do so I got a hyper active dog(the best border collie ever) to walk with me and can take it and started with 3 to 5 km a day which was super hard for me at the time with the problems I had. As I got better and helthier I could walk 25 km no problem. After about 8 months my leg, arm and face were normal like nothing happened.
I keep walking 13 to 15 km per day because I got used to it, still got a hyper active dog, keeps me healthy, never gain weight and more I guess but the point is WALKING CHANGED MY LIFE so...
Keep walking
Normal parents: "shhhh, the baby is sleeping"
Craig: "WALKAWALKAWALKA"
Great that you did this! Keep going! My mom walks over 20,000 steps every day. She listens to a lot of audiobooks.
Huge props for doing this for a month! I've done a week and it already felt like a challenge. Some days are good, some you have to really force it. I think anything north of 10k is good long-term.
3 months ago I was at 220lbs (5'10 tall) and decided I needed to go back to my healthier weight of 170lbs. I knew it would be a challange but the biggest effort was to lose the weight. Maintining it later would be eaiser. In an effort to expedite the process I reduced my calorie intake to 1000 caloires per day and cut all flour from my diet. I focused on meets, eggs, low carb meals and vegetables plus water. No fruits except berries. No fast foods. Nothing fried. Lots of broccoli. I did drop in about 10 weeks down to 170lbs. I went from X-tra large shirts to medium and from 38 waist to 34 waist. It worked for me.
As a woman I was freaked out when you were walking downtown. I could feel my anxiety increasing.
Pretty amazing how neurotic and anxiety ridden women are about this. Men are twice as likely to be attacked by strangers than women.
@@ctguitarguy8510 assaults are not a competition. Stay a King Loser, Incel.
This is awesome! Congrats on completing your goal. I currently do 10,000 a day and it's so hard. But this has motivated me to try for 11,000 steps a day (no way I could do 20,000, but an extra thousand or 2 is a good goal to have 😊)
Congratulations
10k a day's a good goal. I've done it without fail for over 2 years now (started in early COVID) and at first it was a hassle and on some select days (ugh travel days!) it is. But by and large it is completely second nature, has made my life immensely better, and I wouldn't even want to look back.
I loved this! Really inspired me to go outside and walk around. Thanks :)
Fun fact: there's also a little forest near me and within there's a path that I cannot take because of the same not very friendly geese. Today I gave it another shot and was not surprised. The geese made noises and began following my every step and that was my cue to run. So I ran for my life.
I just came to say I watch this video whenever I need to get back on track with my steps. I love your channel and how witty you and China are. Keep up the great work. 🎉
This inspired me to go for a walk. I went for 3 miles. When I was done, my right foot was a mess. The ball was numb and I have a blister on my heal. Thanks.
Now here's a man who's walked the walk.
Can he talk the talk?
@@vigilantcosmicpenguin8721 Obviously.
I got back into walking somewhat by force. I recently moved to Switzerland with my family for work. We enrolled my daughter in the local school system. There’s no bus service like in the US, so this meant that she needed to walk to school. Since I work from home, I decided to walk her to school. In Switzerland, the kids have an hour and a half for lunch and the school closes down. This means I need to collect my daughter to return home for lunch. Long story short, I was walking to and from her school four times a day, five days a week. I started feeling really good and people who knew me said I looked like I lost some weight. I went from a size 38 pant to 36 in about a month. Now that school is out, I’ve continued to walk in the mornings and evenings. I’ll go out for about an hour and a half each time. At the end of the day, I’m right around 15,000 steps. Sometimes I hit 20,000 or more if I have some errands to run.
Love the video and the humor. I’ve encountered geese myself, give them a wide berth. If goslings are present, I go nowhere near them. I have a healthy fear and respect for geese. I think I’d rather encounter a junkyard dog face to face.
Geese when they've got young ones with them are FIERCE. I have experienced that myself unfortunately more times than I would like (ideally 0).
I started watching your videos almost 10 years ago and laughed about your nature rap for years. I eventually started watching other channels but now that I'm back everytime I hear your voice i get hit by a wave of nostalgia. I miss your dark souls videos, and stay awesome
To be honest, you look so energised and healthy!
I'm curious to know, whether you continued your regular excercise on top of walking.
I think you inspired me to do something similar!
Yep! I kept working out.
@@wheezywaiter Did you stop running during this challenge? Running definitely counts towards steps and shortens the time to complete them.
Those f*":g geese were everywhere, I'm tellin'ya 😂😂 I thought I was gonna die, I haven't had so much fun in a very long time seeing a UA-cam video 😂
Almost 3 years ago (Jan 2020) I decided to walk 6 miles a day. During the early part of the pandemic (April 2020-Dec 2020) I was able to up it to 10 miles a day (about 20,000 steps), even went over 100 miles a week a few times. I still walk (4-6 miles/day for exercise/fun) but now I try to ride my bike more (30 miles/day). Both walking and riding are great exercising for body and mind.
You might be the most refreshing youtuber out there. I spit my smoothie out my nose and mouth when you said your daughter told you. Hilarious!!! Thank you for making me laugh and be a uplifting human!!
Heck yeah! I've been on a 15k step challenge thanks to you.
You just encouraged me to put my phone down and go for 10km walk along the canal! The first time in 2 years doing so much exercise willingly ;) so thank you! I will try and keep this up as I have developed quite the dad bod!
I used to take a 1,5h walk every day in summer but ended up with tendonitis... now I bike instead 😆 I prefer it because I can go farther & for longer and I can experiment with routes a lot more :) plus I'm less prone to injuries
I love your personality! The most entertaining UA-cam vid I've seen in a really long time.
Great effort, 20k steps is no joke. Also, that Simpsons episode about the lemon tree is 👌👌
eyyyy Owensboro! '>'
I've also done the "small loops around my house at night to meet a step goal" bit, always feels silly haha
This was a joy to watch! Thanks 🙏 for all your hard work that I know went into making this video 🥰 I’m walking for my main exercise and I absolutely love it! I hit 10 thousand steps most days but I need to pay more attention to my calories 😂
"Doing stuff makes time better." Thank you for that gem. Will add it to my quote collection immediately.
I’ve been getting 10k a day for the last couple months, and I increased that to 11k this month. Super nice way to make sure I’m not just at my desk or on the couch all day
Your "10,000 Steps a Day for a Month" video is one of my favorites, and I loved this one too! I grew up in WI and went to Madison for college before moving away, and it's always nice to get a glimpse of familiar places 🙂I just found out there are Ian's Pizzas here in Seattle and I probably walked 10,000 steps to get there LOL. Always love your content, Craig!
You are so funny and entertaining. Thank you. You should try dropping down to 8,000-10,000 steps/day to maintain. I lost 10 lbs in 33 days walking everyday after eating (3x/day) while on vacation in Europe.
oh my god, this was the funniest video hahaha! I kept cracking up everytime you said '"America" lmaooo
I wish you had mentioned what systems you created to get your walk-in. 4 times of 5000 steps? 1x day 20k? How did you juggle work/ family life and exercise? Did you wake up at 5? How much time did 20k take you per day? 3 hours of walking? 5 hours of walking? What health info was useful to you on the apple watch? What dietary changes did you do to loose weight? I wish there was more of this...
Agreed.
Thoroughly entertained for 20 or so minutes, thank you. Your commentary is classic - love it!
As an amputee with a maximum of 3,000 steps a day, this was really interesting to watch.
I just started a 20,000 steps a day journey a week ago. I Googled '20,000 steps a day' and this video popped up. Funniest most relatable video I've seen through this journey. Amazing. You are very down-to-earth funny. I love this 🤣👍🏆👏🚶♀️
That's a lofty goal. I think I could do it if I didn't have a desk job. I used to knock out 10k a day but that was hard. 20k, impossible with my job.
I started because of a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes and they pulled my CDL, so I started slow at 5,000 ft steps per day after 2 weeks I went to 10k then in 2 more weeks I went to 15,000 then in 2 more weeks I went to 20k + everyday for exactly 5 months the benefit's are as follow, no more sugar meds my a1c was 12 when I started it is now 5.4% I have lost from 365lbs I am extremely excited to say I am 261 lbs. and am in full remission from t2 diabetes, I was eating 2 strips of turkey bacon 2 boiled eggs in the am at noon 1/2 can of tuna or salmon and absolutely nothing after 5pm fast till morning and repeat! if I got hungry during my walk only I would eat a Metrix power bar only. or a piece of dehydrated jerky I made myself without all the preserves. so it took a bit over 5 months but it all together was around 6 moths almost 7 full months total. oh and DO NOT EAT PORK!!!!
