I spent days working out my RAM issue, including running memtest on both sticks (17k+ errors) and then each stick separately (0 errors) then switched their dimm slots and tested them together again (0 errors). The computer has been running fine for a week now. Technology is baffling to me.
Hi and thanks for the video! I have a question: is it advisable to do the test with one ram slot at a time or, with the latest updates, is it possible to do just one for all the occupied slots (all 4 in my case)?
for the future a test with all might be better and then if it doesnt tell you what stick is bad test them all individually. saves time if the ram isnt actually bad
i just did mine today. i had used an empty SD card and it worked fine. as long as you know how to navigate through your bios then u should be okay. mines still reading through my ram so ill comment when its done to see if it worked
I'm experiencing something weird. I just built myself a 2700X + Gigabyte B450M Aorus Elite + Teamgroup dual channel (2x8) DDR4-3600. Placed the DIMMs in slots 2 and 4. Memtest86 fails at 3200MT/s and above using XMP timings. Switched the DIMMs to slots 1 and 3, got even more errors at 3200. Switched back to slots 2 and 4 and now Memtest86 passes 3200 twice already. Ok why is it suddenly running well now?? 3600 is still failing but I think it's because of the memory controller and not the DIMMs.
You are right! 3600 MHz is simply too much the controller. 3200 MHz is what most people get to run. So you can try to enter the values manually, because it won't work with the XMP profile.
I have a 2014 Alienware PC and when I got it off Marketplace about six months ago it worked absolutely perfect there was no stuttering and was smooth. As tike went ofln I'd factory reset itna few times when it got shitty..then uphill last night...the stuttering on even offline games lowest settings...shits driving me absolute bonkers. I really hope this helps
It seems that way. Try with different sticks or use the same sticks in a different rig and repeat memtest there to be sure. Most likely only one is faulty, if you use multiple sticks.
@@Chris-ep2js I didn't even bother trying haha it seems like a hassle, I think my ram is fine. If your ram isn't working properly I think you'll know via the motherboard. 2 hours sounds extreme to me

@@letrface_8596 did you find your fix. i suspect my ram is bad, constant WHEA UNCORRECTRABLE ERROR errors and pc crashed/blue screens

How to choose slots to check ? I don´t wanna run in all my memory.. How to select the slots i wanna test ? is that possible ?
The manual of your motherboard should tell you the correct slots for the test. Usually it is slot 2 and 4.

Should I be taking out one ram stick at a time then run the entire test twice so I could see which ram stick is the issue or will it tell me?

I would want to try this, but I dont have a usb drive and its a bit scary to change startup settings without truly knowing what im doing

The screen at 1:10 takes absolutely ages to get past on my computer. I watched this full video and I hadn't gotten past 'getting memory size'
@@letrface_8596 For me, the issue I was having was the usb I installed the program on I believe. I used a different one and it worked fine.
