  • Abarth WasteGate Adjustment.
    I went with 4 mm preload and it seems to help and haven't see any problems.

    Good video. I am sure it has been mentioned, but you don't need to remove the rod from the arm. The inside of the vacuum actuator is a round diaphragm, so all you have to do is break the nut loose and turn the splined shaft on the actuator end. Take a paint marker and make a reference dot on the shaft, that way you can count the number of turns.

      What are you talking about. There's no way to turn that rod without taking it off the arm.....you smoking crack

    Thanks for posting this video. Was trying to take mine out to polish it yesterday but couldn't get the c clip out easy enough and was worried about losing it to the abyss... Will try to pick up that replacement kit, and give it another go..

    Ok, so today I was browsing for "Abarth Rally Car" and came to this video. After watching it and the rain currently in Phoenix AZ. I was like well I have nothing else to do...so I followed this video's instructions.
    Before this video - PSI steady @ 18 psi then drops slowly.
    After this video - PSI increases to 21 psi, however the turbo gauge displays immediate response to 18 psi and gradually increases to 21 psi. "Rotating 3 revolutions" did this for me, no psi drops like before.
    Special Thanks for this. Not bad.

      you do know that the psi slowly dropping at high rpms is to protect your engine right? I wouldn't recommend keeping this up.

      Jandro Rod your wrong sir the psi drop is do to the wastegate having the wrong preload from the factory the new 1.4 turbos are set with this same preload that this man just did from the factory now. Knowledge is power. Psi doesn't break motors power does..

      Chris Severs the Abarth Peaks at 5,500 rpm, which is where the papi starts dropping slowly. this is to keep the band at the peak power smoothly. All turbo cars do this to protect the engine. If you keep peak boost all the way through higher rpms, the gas output won't keep up with the stock programming thus damaging your engine eventually.

    • @Jandro1083
      @Jandro1083 7 років тому

      Chris Severs if the new ones do it, I'm pretty sure they're programmed to handle it, but not previous models.

      the psi drop is due to the engine using all the air the turbo is able to feed it at high rpm. It has nothing to do with protecting the engine.

    0:35 bad habit to get into; leaving tools on/around battery, especially positive terminal, even with the cover, they can still slip under and cause direct short, possibly injuring, starting fire or damage

    Do you mean reset the ecu when you've mentioned reflash the tune? 😅

  • @vinanoir
    @vinanoir 2 роки тому

    when you say you had to reflash the tune do you mean you simply just wrote over the ecu with your tune file again? or did you flash back to stock, and then with the tune file again? OR did you flash to stock, re-read the ecu, and get a revised tune from the vendor?

      I just Flash the tune already on the car again. I had to watch the video again. It's been like 7 years since I made this video. I could not remember. Also This mod is still on my car and still no problems.

    Hi, I am about to do this and I am wondering what you meant by reflash the tune? If I unplug the battery and do what you did in the video and then plug it back when I’m done will that do the job?

    • @KapturedbyKerry

      Yes that should do it. What I mean by re flash tune is I have a custom ecu tune from shopeurocompulsion.net/

  • @MrToonfish
    @MrToonfish 7 років тому +5

    Funny @2:45, when you're with the rod with no preload at all, then you start turning it half way one time and a second time... you counted 1 turn, 2 turn but in fact you're doing 2 half turns so in short you counted 2 turns and doing only 1 ! ;-)

    • @tryagain.k1821
      @tryagain.k1821 6 років тому +3

      Not true. If you watch the video you will see he does 2 half turns and calls it one turn. Another clue is the white mark on the side of the actuator rod.
