Contrary to what the Venezuelans will tell you. The land never belonged to them. It changed hands many centuries and was in possession of the Dutch at the time it was transferred to the British. The dispute was settled fairly in an international tribunal in 1899 after USA threaten war against the British at the behest of its vassal regime in Venezuela. It was brought up again in the Cold War era of the 60’s by USA and UK meddling to stoke division in Guyana because it had a communist leaning Government then. It is a disputed territory no doubt. Venezuela will have no problem if Russian & Chinese oil companies extract the resources, but NOT the Yankee Americans nor Shell/BP & other EU companies.
