Seems DW completely ignored the fact that Venezuela economy was screwed before any major sanctions hit it. The way the oil company was run meant the Maduro government sucked every dollar possible from it and it's infrastructure was beginning to fall apart. All based on the wrong idea that oil prices would grow endlessly. Zero savings, borrowing even when the oil company still worked and the oil prices were at record high numbers. So when oil prices fell Venezuela was practically bankrupt, massive overspending, oil company production dropping due to badly maintained equipment, oil spills and lack of spares, debt and unmanageable expenditure. All tied up together with serious corruption and inefficiency. The problem with Venezuela is that those that are in power live like complete royalty and there is no middle class. What is not discussed in this documentary is the utter destruction of Venezuela’s oil production. They did not do a good job investigating Luisa Ortega for the documentary, she was responsable for many people on jail and tortured.
The documentary fails to provide a clear and coherent analysis of the situation in Venezuela. It leaves viewers with more questions than answers, making it difficult to form a definitive opinion.
The documentary is a missed opportunity to provide a comprehensive and unbiased account of the Venezuelan crisis. It is plagued by inconsistencies, questionable choices, and a lack of clarity.
It did not mention the bus routes Madura used to operate the buses.
It's clear that when a leader starts focusing on not being toppled, not because of rogue elements but because they're actually not worthy of the position they're in, that's when they actually fall, because it's like driving a car while looking at the rear view mirror. A crash is inevitable.
Kenyans this is the same thing happening here we are fattening a dictator.Ruto atatumaliza bana
Any countries that follows Russia and/or China is a country that is being used. I mean used even more than the Americans or British will use you during these modern times.
Trump ahould become the president od the world he will get rid of Maduro and make Venezuela beautiful again. The usa should control Venezuela and cuba and they will both be saved from a life of misery. Trump will fix everything. Trump will save the world
The moment Ruto visited M7, I knew Kenya was efd.
Don’t let socialism get in to your country is the worst thing that can happened to a country hunger hunger brow .
Ruto ni mwizi
Another great documentary here
Awesome doco.
politics, suck!!!!!!!!!
Who leads Venezuela is nothing to do with anyone other than Venezuelan's.
The west at its mighty finest tried really hard to break him yet they failed to do so, the man still standing
Solidarity!
It hurts so much to watch this. Que pena con mi Venezuela querida.
Love the wit and sense of humor of John Bolton 💙!
So the idea of international sanctions are so stupid. They have the disproprotionate effect of hurting the people not the government. On the contrary the government becomes more violent to repress the starving people that still find some energy to fight back.
America is angry they cant have control of venezula oil .
Wow this is insightful and very depressing
Excelent video
Manuel went from the pinnacle of military power...to being a building superintendent. LOL
I love how strong he is
But I do not like how he's not liberating the country out of poverty
He's only enriching himself
This is what is happening now in America. Sad but true
He isn't like what you say he is a common man in his real ways
So Sad Story!
I.ve met many beautiful people from Venezuela, I hate that they are having issues
The problem with Venezuela is that those that are in power live like complete royalty and there is no middle class. The poor people are under the impression that without whoever is at the top they won’t survive, even though they’re screwed as it is. This has been the case for Venezuela since the creation of the county.
If there was no oil, would we care?
No, like the many countries that there are with questioned governments but that do not attract as much media interest.
Nicaragua has oil?
A lot venezuelan now went to Trinidad😢
And Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago are lucky, they sent all the criminals to the u s a.
So the Guyana that is now the Apple of the U.S. eyes did the same because of U.S. sanctions. the very Venezuela and Suriname was places of refugee for guyanese today many seems to forget who the real enemies are they are back again doing the same like they did in Venezuela for decades
@@alancampos8906😂😂😂
And Guyana now they are robbing and killing the Guyanese people 😢😢
Behind every dictatorship is a nation who dances to the dictator's tune in exchange for a lousy life. 😢
Amazing
Stability and predictability, the two supreme national blessings, have existed contemporaneously with the Maduro regime.
I’m astonished to see him so cling to power without the support of the people!
He just needs the military’s support, a dictatorship rarely has majority support from the people
This is somewhat similar to what is happening in Kenya. Ruto is destroying our country
this is bad journalism i was expecting more from DW. this is terribly one-sided.
I couldn’t agree more
Viva la revolución ❤
The west needs to leave Venezuela alone. If the media wants to talk about it, they should talk about the US meddling in Venezuela's elections. They only talk about it because of the oil. There's a lot worse going on in Myanmar, or what Russia is doing to Ukraine.
Eh what? Venezuela is being aggressive to Guyana because of oil 🙄
Poor people over there.
Why are they interviewing so many people from the US? Don't they have enough analysts from Venezuela (or, at least, from Latin America)? Analysts from the US are either ignorant about other countries, or they will say whatever is more convenient to *their own* country 🤨
What is not discussed in this documentary is the utter destruction of Venezuela’s oil production. DW refers to the initial production of 3 billion gallons per day but makes no mention of the depletion of production (and jobs) due to lack of upkeep and utter disinterest in the capital necessities of production.
What percentage of oil wells are still at peak? What are the reasons for current 30% of annual output??
Wow, Deutsche Welle, bravo! Nothing says ‘Venezuela’ quite like a soundtrack of Mexican music. I mean, who cares about cultural accuracy when you can just lump all Spanish-speaking countries together, right? Looking forward to your next documentary on Germany, set to the tunes of Japanese Enka. Keep up the great work!
This guy Rafael Ramirez is one of the guiltily of this tragedy, also Luísa Ortega
