With this skill levels, you can't go mainstream. Only musicians can appreciate this skill madness..
With this skill level, you can only go mainstream if you can sing Top-40 like George Benson.
Yes, that's true. I am/was a musician (guitar player) and I get excited about this band and music and especially Frank Gambale. Today was the first time I've heard of him. Unbelievable...
I find a incredible joy in this music that even transcends the amazing technical skills!
Maybe not totally true - I had a girlfriend years ago who wasn't a musician but she loved Mahavishnu Orchestra. I got upset because she said she preferred John McLaughlin's music to Allan Holdsworth! She was pretty rare though! 😄
My wife isn’t musically inclined , yet she loves Yes and King Crimson as well as her girly music , lol
One of the most versatile , amazingly phrased , musically expressive shredders on the face of this planet ! Frank has it all ! Total respect & admiration for his genius !
The '90s were a golden era for fusion nerds.
And lets face it, we are nerds...
jajaja, the best comment!, and yeah... we are nerds... lol
BrotherDevious I think we are just entering the “golden age of modern fusion.” Guthrie Govan, Tom Quayle, Alex Hutchings... These players are leading the way!
What the hell is fusion anyway?
As much as I like Govan, he is no Gambale
@@jazznotes3802 Allan Holdsworth and Greg Howe among others would disagree with that golden age statement.

Thanks !!!
😊
Thanks
Damn, that keyboard solo on Humpty Dumpty, was as sick as anything Chick would do! That was rad!
Thank you!
Frank Gambale is unreal. What a player! I see he was using the Marshall JMP-1 Preamp here. Nice.
Great concert - keyboard solo in Humpty Dumpty (piece starting at 15'17'') is incredible !
incredible guitarist, musical genius, and he seems a very nice guy!
That version of Passages is amazing!! Should be listened to by everyone in the world, perhaps prescribed by doctors. As someone else aptly commented, it is 'musical Indica', and should be used in times of stress.
Yeah you're right. he is on fire here.
This is insane.. Plain and simple. BEASTMODE
+Zach Derbas Christ is burning inside hahahah!
Not only is his playing superb ...but what a great sound Frank wires in with the GB10 Ibanez.
Agree!
King of the king !!!

I had the honor of going to school in LA at The Guitar Institute of technology with Frank Gambale back in 1982-3 era... From the first time he played in a performance class "everybody" knew he was going to be a famous guitarist !!! It was also VERY intimidating to go up on stage after he played... I'm a Blues / Rock / Light Fusion guy... not even close to his league... but it was cool to be there before he burst onto the music scene...!!!
I always wondered about this. Did you or anyone see the difference between Frank as a freshman and when he graduated? Did he come to GIT as an already accomplished player or did he just become a beast during his tenure at GIT? I suspect he was pretty incredible when he first showed up.
I was there at that time as well.. it was a golden era .. Henderson just started with Ponty.. Gibert.. Gamble..and Herring where all there as students . You could walk down the hall an hear them playing with Robben Ford Jeff Berlin .. Joe Diorio.. even Don Mock or Howard Roberts at the time !That kind of exposure was priceless and those lessons have stayed with me to this day.. it was an honor ! It was 3000,00 when we went ..its 30.0000 now ..ouch . I stayed with Frank and some other student / teachers in North Hollywood. He was downstairs and you could always! hear him practicing . he was working at sweep picking at the time . He is a pretty cool guy ..and dedicated. I took some courses Dick Grove .. it was a different focus.. composing .but Mi training really helped with the theory. I miss that red Strat that he brought out from Australia. He sounded great on that . His dream even back then was to play with Chick Corea. He proves that with hard work and talent dreams can come true .The timing was right for it back then as well .Thanks for posting.. it brought some great memories back.
wow .. great story
Why do you say that abour gilbert?
King Brilliant would you care to explain why?
I just stumbled over this guys vids last week and I cannot believe he,s been playing this shit for over 30 years. The Internet is has brought our standards of what is good up by many levels.
check out his "Present for the Future" CD if u like this... good stuff!
Great concert. I met Mr. Gambale a few years at the Token Lounge here in MI. What an honor and pleasure it was to meet the Master. It's also great seeing the amazing Otmaro Ruiz on keyboards as a young cat now playing with Simon Phillips & Protocol. AWESOME!!!
I lived in North Hollywood back in '89. I went to Dick Grove School of Music then...
After graduating from a Midwest College with a B.A. Poly Science. and Music Performance.
I learned more out in L.A. in one year, being swamped in the music scene than 4 1/2 years at an "institution"
I remember going to see Frank at the.. "Baked Potato" Just being blown away!!!
A few years ago I saw him with Return to Forever .. Getting back stage .. and telling him about seeing him ... "back in the day"
He smiled, asked me .. "So what do you do?" I told him I had a corporate job for about 13 years... But of late ? I now teach guitar for a living with a methodology that has brought what I learned from LA here.. to Minnesota.. I was rather shy about it..
First thing he said? "No man, what you're doing is an honorable and noble profession.. Bless you ! ..."
What a great guy.. Great Guitarist. and ... Someone who stepped back "from the lights" and gave another of the profession a kind word...
Blessings to Frank!
What a great story ! I would carve that sentence in wood and put it in a frame :) Sounds like Frank's a genuine and humble person
That's a lesson that I seem to be hearing more and more. Thank you.
What a breathtaking performance of Nunzio’s Near. Frank shows us why he’s one of the best! The drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr. is awesome too. He plays for Chicago now.
Gambale killin. MI should make CDs of these performances. With artist permission of course
Or at least put the flacs up for sale. I'd buy some of these...
hard gonna be keeping that level hahah
I think Frank watches this and realizes how awesome that strat style guitar sounds and finally is about to release his FG-2 strat . I will be placing my order now .
FG with wig & leather pants / band with backward caps : no doubt, we're in the 1990s !! THANX 4 SHARING
Great Band Frank! cheers, Denny
Wow. I remember when I picked up his live CD in the 80's. Unreal. What an amazing player. His technique was out of this world, but it never was over the music. Frank is a legend among guitarists. He has such feeling in his playing.
Very soulful playing! Love when Frank plays on melodic rock tunes, he has so much felling and soul in his tone :)
Outstanding musician , one of the greatest guitarists & just an amazing human being ! Had a chance to meet Mr Gambale in South Africa at one of his clinics . We chatted for about 30 min ! Gracious & humble individual , with guitar chops to match ! Remember as if it was yesterday !!!
Announcer: "Please, welcome Mr Frank Gambal..."
Audience: "LEE!"
He switches over to solidbody at about 28:25. I never was into "soft jazz" until I heard Gambale's albums. We are so lucky to have him to watch and learn from. He seems very happy.
I saw him with Vital Information a year earlier and my jaw was on the floor the entire show. I had heard a couple of his recordings, but seeing it in person was like one of the wonders of the world.
Masters at work. Frank sounds spectacular on the jazz box.
Great performance! Congratulations to MI and Mr. Gambale, evidently!
+Luciano Magno Passages é simplesmente fantástica. O que acha Luciano?
@@RodolfoNunes1982 Sensacional, meu amigo! ✌️🎵
VAMOS PANA OTMARO, SALUDOS DESDE SANTA MÓNICA EN CARACAS VENEZUELA. UN GRAN VENEZOLANO EN EL MUNDO.
That keyboardist is amazing! Great chops, but his phrasing is incredible!
Adam Hansbrough Just so you know!!...
His main instrument is guitar!!! That's why
he is an amazing keyboardist!!!
Otmaro Ruiz
@@sticktrik despite being a guitarist he's a great keyboardist
yes oui
Otmaro Ruiz on keyboard!
Otmaro Ruiz, one of the real Masters.
Absolutely
Proudly made in Venezuela..!
Techinical and musical's "best of times " of FG, i'd see him in Porto Alegre ( Brazil ) in the same year , awesome guitar player , and other musician 's too.
The passages solo is just plain sick
Freaking amazing! There’s no others guitarist with the great note selection of Frank Gambale.

Eric clapton ? 😢
the late great Allan Holdsworth could maybe.. would give Mr Gambale a run for the ultimate legato god guitarist title or maybe Guthry Govan but my bet would be on Allan
Wonderful!
We're all here cause of Frank, but Ric is pretty much a bad ass too...
Thanks for uploading this video. Frank is definitely a Great, IMO.
AWESOME 🎸 THE Band is like the Top of a Ice Cream Sunday, The CHERRY 🍒😋 on TOP. I listened to Greg Koch and then Johnny Hiland. Love 💘 Your Channel and Band. BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL TALENT 🎼😍❤🔥✌🤩⭐🪝ed 👏👍🤟🕶🙄🤯🎸
Thank you for this concert! One of my favorite fusion artists. Master craftsman. Passages., the tune...spot on. He shreds, with soul. World class‼️
Such a work of art! This can only be explained in 2 words. "PURE GENIUS"
you are always a student :) thanks a lot beautiful master!!!
The one and ony legendary Frank Gambale. Scott was great ,but all the guys of CCEB agree he was The Chosen One.
He makes it so easy...A BEAST!
Thank you very much for the upload.it s great!!
Thanks MI. Love 90's archives!
Amazing arrangements awesome music 😎🎸
Simply marvelous !!!
Frank Gambale is the GREATEST player too this date!!!
I can't understand why people keep banging on about Jimi Hendrix,Stevie Ray Vaughan,John Mayer,Eric Clapton & Carlos Santana etc....
Frank Gambale is the GREATEST no matter what style he's playing!!!
Pound for pound he is more than a match for Yngwie Malmsteen & Michael Angelo Batio for speed & he is as melodic as you can get!!!
Their must be something in the water in Australia because let's not forget Brett Garsead!!!!!!!
And no tapping !!! I like to judge it by the fact that you know Frank can play anything from the guys you mention but none of those guys could play Franks stuff at full on mode .
@@bunnynikkipeaches2442 Frank Gambale is a force of nature!!!!
Frank, you're the best! Thanks for your music!
thanks!
great year!!!
48:30 "Little Charmer"
All the best moves of guitar rock!
He nails the genre.
One my of top favorite guitar songs of all time. Just insane.
The whole show is impressive, but the solo section in Little Charmer is jaw-dropping. Not only Frank goes wild with unbelievable phrasing and skill, but also the way the band raises dynamics, the whole build-up... Insanely good.
OMG!!! thanks por ulpoad this!.
The keyboard player is insane...a BEAST!
who is him?

Amazing!!!
Got to see Frank play with Chick Corea's Elektric Band a couple times. Simply amazing. My favorite albums of his is Live from the Baked Potato, recorded in 1988 and Show Me What You Can Do with Stu Hamm and Steve Smith.
sem palavras emocionamte
Love the melodic rock solo towards the end . Bravo
amazing JAM!! pure fusion guitar
wow, excellent audio for this!!! thanks
Sweet. I was actually at this show. I could probably point myself out in the audience if I tried, vaguely recall where I was sitting. :-)
Arpeggio heaven. What utter Divine perfection. So worthwhile to watch his band perform.
What a legend🎸.
what a great musicians
he is so good that nobody even noticed his leather pants
😂👍good one
You notice them but immediately forgive him
10 years earlier it was not just leather pants, but also the most 80's shirts you could buy
@King Brilliant oh i didn't notice that.
that's how good he is.
Fusion players aren't knon for wise fashion choices, and FG is the king of ridiculous looks, but we don't care because it's all about the playing! 😍🎵🎵🤪
They could make a living doing Demo songs for my Casiotone keyboard hahaha 🤣 it sounds the same ... now seriously jokes apart, Frank is truly one of the best out there , such a legend abd the band is superb , simply amazing musicians! Thank you for sharing this ❤️🎸
Great backing band.
keyboard player looks like maradona. great video. skilled clever musicians!
Mestre Gambale "espetacular"...
How cool!
magnifique !!
Ah little charmer! Master was playing this song at begining of chopbuilder video lesson. And many years long this song was like a backgroud song for my life.
Outrageously great playing. Frank has such great musicianship and musicality. The rest of the band is great, too, but Frank is so riveting there’s not much resource left for the others.
Frank - Totally Awesome.
awesome :-) they r beast
A masterclass......taste + shred.....great chords/melody coupled with stratospheric sweep picking.....
Imagine I'm just a 7 years old that time , the best guitarist till now ❤️❤️❤️
Love It!!!!
When Frank's on he really is a monster.
One my guitars heroes .. Speed n Finesse.
Passages is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
His ballad playing on the solid body.... his most soulful stuff!
Australian - superb player, but so extremely humble
Frank your a beast! So proud so cool!!! Dont know about the fringe tho mate🤣your the greatest❤️✊🏾
The best!
Great Frank!!
