@@lazrbeam117 it's masking tape, even you wouldn't break a nail peeling it off. Where were you when the Heritage Custom Shop sent out one of their "better" guitars with factory installed headstock dings? Is it because you're an NPC? [It is.]
I'm actually in favor of Gibson offering a regular lineup of all their major models in Studio, Standard, Custom, and Supreme trim levels, all the time. To me that makes sense.
Yea I’m surprised the first rendition of all the supreme models don’t come in the same colors. Im sure there are people out there who want all of the supremes in the same color.
I think the sea foam green would look much better with black binding on the body instead of the white and it would match the rest of the black on the guitar, knobs, pick guard and pick surrounds.
I'm a fan of ES 335s, and this one is an ES 335 with a bonus with all those killer tones. having so many options makes it where it could take the place of three guitars. for people that don't want to have a bunch of guitars in their collection. a one guitar does it all kind of thing so versatile, if you get my meaning? and color and it's arrangement is great. in other words what's not to like about this guitar? besides the price being a tiny bit on the high side. it just means a person would have too save up a few more $. which is not such a bad thing.
Trogly, I love your videos. I just can't seem to wrap my head around Gibsons QC. At that price point that guitar should be flawless. I mean tooling marks on the fret nibs, buffing compound on the fret binding. Splintered wood in the pick up cavities. Saw dust inside the body. Masking tape at the end of the neck. They need to do a better job with their QC. Keep up your great educational videos.
I really like the supreme line but at the current prices a used custom shop model is more appealing. That’s used R8 or R9 pricing. Still can’t argue that’s a gorgeous guitar.
Called it 😎 (colour & reasoning). Love the seafoam, the neck back & the contrast between the two. Just the fresh gold hardware makes it a bit much for me, visually … But sounds great, too! Nice one! ✅
Salutations Austin! Really nice ES-Supreme! It sounds great, and offers so many different sonic options! I have found that the coil splits really come in handy when I am recording or performing live, and I need to back off a just a little bit to prevent unwanted feedback. I really like that particular color too! Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🌟🎸
Beautiful guitar , the finish really brings out the aqua color in the inlays , I'm still getting used to the ' chandelier ' on the headstock , Ive yet to own a Custom LP or ES model with the split diamond so one step at a time ! I love my ES-335 very muchO so , semi-hollows are the chit ! I really like the Ebony 3-pickup version , very cool . Thanks Trog !
A very nice looking guitar, if I didn’t own a Gretsch Country Gentleman this would be an option. A little embarrassing to their QC department for this to be shipped with masking tape still a fixed.
@cataclysmicconverter you know CC I have a Duo Jet G6129T 59 in silver sparkle finish and it too is flawless, beautiful guitar! That's cool I didn't know you had some Gretsch guitars.... very cool
We've seen some Supreme headstocks get the widow treatment but I would like to see multicolored option or 2 tone with the middle and end the same color with a contrasted second line.
I don't care how often I've already said this in comments below uploads like this one. I feel inclined to repeat myself. Gibson really needs to study the coil-tapping systems in guitars built by other manufacturers to improve upon their own semblance of it. If I purchased this guitar model, I would swap out the coil-splitting feature for phase cancellation.
Same case as my Gibson Les Paul Classic. Same push pull also. Not a big fan of the case, but I use the push pull all the time, being s tele guy at heart.
This is where I’d like to see a 5 way switch of some form. Where positions 2 and 4 are one full HB + one coil tap. Personally I’d switch the 3 way switch for a 5 way rotary switch
I own a 1967 es330 TDC. It is sweet! My favorite Gibson model is the electric Spanish line for sure. Now I want a Supreme! But I will not give Gibson that kind of money. Fender still rules.
Using Burstbuckers is actually pretty smart. The Burstbuckers don't actually split all the way. When you use the push/pull, you get like 10% of the other coil, so it alleviates a lot of the feedback issues.
If that were the case then the DC resistance reading would've been different when he had the push-pull in the up position. Instead they put resistors on the push-pull pots to 'tap' some of the signal. You can see them when Trogs has a look inside the F holes
I have the Inspired by Gibson Custom 1959 ES-355 in Ebony. And I love it. After I polished it to a mirror-like high gloss finish, the guitar looks more black, as in deep inky black which compliments the gold hardware more. And made it look much more expensive. That is $5.7K in savings right there.
I looked at the guitar on both my tablet and my computer. To me, the color looks more like teal than seafoam green. Regardless of the color, it's a nice looking guitar!
Id probably remove it too for this coloured version. It’s got such a nice top and my playing style rarely scratches guitars. Trogly mentioned tortoise shell pick guard for this ? Gawd no. I truly despise tortoise shell anything on any guitar!!!
I put a tortoise guard on my Fender Jass bass with figured top and I have to politely disagree, but yes, a tortoise guard on this guitar would be wrong (IMHO). If it has a beautiful top, no guard is my taste. My 335 does look kinda off without a guard though.🤷♂️
I just can’t get my head around how to justify the extra cost over some of the other ES range! Definitely could have gone with the custom shop pickups in the 355’s!
Agree. I bought a used Yamaha SA2200 for 1000 dollars. It has maple body, mahagony neck and ebony fretboard, and all wood work is just perfect. A previous owner changed to Grover tuners, and I changed to a switch-craft pickup switch. Now the guitar was so good so I installed a set of Wolfetone Marshallheads splitable alnico V pickups. With all that I came up to 1400 dollars, but sound, playability and looks is just great. Ok, a surfgreen es Supreme would be nice, but it’s 3000 dollars more.
It's a nice enough looking guitar, but I wouldn't call that particularly supreme, not with those unbound f-holes. Hofner used to use some beautiful binding on their old guitars such as the Committee and the Golden Hofner. Gibson should try something like that for the edge of the top. And bind those f-holes!
I have been waiting for this one, as i think its my next Guitar! We have always asked for the option to have/not have a pickguard. It should be an option, i hate the screw holes that are left on my other hollow/semi hollow Gibson Giutars. Its not like there cheap! Its also made in Nashville, not the best factory, my Epiphone made there had that same deep cut nut, its not correct, cut too deep!
After playing the 2024 IBGCS Epiphones I don’t see any reason to spent anymore than $1300 (with hard shell case) these days for a Gibson instrument. I’ve been playing guitar for nearly 50 years and I can’t pass the Epiphone/Gibson blindfold test with the new Epis. Blows my mind! 🤯
At the current prices, no Gibson is worth buying. I can afford most of the Gibsons Trogly shows and have been a Gibson fan-boy for over thirty years. However I’m a player and not a collector and they simply don’t offer value for money.
I'm just imagining what would happen if Glen Fricker found a spare bit of tape on a guitar he was reviewing. Don't know exactly what he'd do, but it would probably end up being pretty funny
I'm a Gibson fan and own two of them, but they will never improve QC as long as consumers keep letting them slide. A case full of shavings, forgotten masking tape, and a poorly cut nut should not be acceptable on a $4,300 guitar.
For that much money, I'm shocked the inside of those cavities looked the way they did. They need to smooth out those routes! The finish and neck look nice though.
The “masking” tape is actually Gibson’s Authentic Tone Tape ™️. You just removed the magic.
Calm down, Paul Reed Smith.
It's Gibson authentic low qc
Tape authentic!

dude! flying v supreme😍
I would love to see the ES-Supreme in the figured top Wine Red they make for the Les Paul Supreme.
Wine red for this would be an amazing colour.
Yea I’m surprised the first rendition of all the supreme models don’t come in the same colors. Im sure there are people out there who want all of the supremes in the same color.
Wow, that really is a BEAUTIFUL finish on that.
This is the guitar of my dreams, man... That's my favourite colour, it sounds beautiful... God...
It's like Caribbean water over ripples in the sand of a lagoon.
A lot of useful tones with the tapped coils, especially with the semi- hollow body. Yes I would rock this😊
Beautiful guitar. Love the chandelier inlay.
👍 agreed
That color is so amazing, I think these need a flamed neck to justify the price and "Supreme" naming scheme though.
The Moderns in that color look great because of the ebony fretboard.
I think the chandelier headstock logo looks the best on the ES style Gibsons. Beautiful guitar
At $4300 it is fair to have a few nit picks, I would expect it to be near perfect for my money.
Agreed. Should live up to the supreme name. Not just the supreme price.
I’m impressed it left the factory with the blue tape, makes you think what else they could have looked over
That thing is GORGEOUS !!! Sounds good too !!! Thanks Austin !!!🎸🔥
The color and the inlays are awesome loving the look ❤
I think the sea foam green would look much better with black binding on the body instead of the white and it would match the rest of the black on the guitar, knobs, pick guard and pick surrounds.
What beautiful mother of Pearl on the headstock wow that is gorgeous
Looks gorgeous!
The split bridge with distortion sounds awesome!
Looks terrific to me; especially in that light tan color you showed briefly.

I wish Gibson would offer a single cut hollow body - they'd sell a ton!
I would love to see one with chrome hardware for once. I can’t stand gold.

Gives me yacht rock vibes…however, it handled the distortion quite nicely 👍
The tap coil is gettin better, not just usual split coil that volume difference became a problem

Iam not that skilled either but i damn like compound radius. it plays more effortless
So are es 339, Flying V or maybe an Explorer version next?
I'm holding out for the LP junior and special Supreme myself
I'm curious if the other finishes reflect in the inlays the way this one does? The inlays look almost turquoise at some angles.
That’s just during the playing demo segment due to taking the green screen out and adding some color back in
I like that you can tell humans built this nice instrument
THIS THING IS GORGEOUS!!!! But not for 4k.
Like it better sans pickguard. In fact I think ALL pickguards should ship in the case so the player can choose to install it or not.. pet peeve

Would have been bettwr if they had done the les paul supreme back to the old specs. 5A top and carved 4A back like my 2012 supreme
Definitely a step up to the 335
That's a lotta stuff for $300 upcharge.
Lovely paint job but black binding would suit it better.
Sounds like a Gibson!
No electric guitar is worth over 2500 to me.. i like beaters ao i dknt have to worry about banging them up. Spend the money on good amps instead.
Right on. Great point. A decent tube amp can make a really cheap guitar sound great.
