Well done! I’ve made several so far. Building what you play and playing what you build is a blast. Thanks for sharing!
Nice build. Good going. You are a real woodworker. I saw the band-aid. Thanks for sharing.
Dat ik deze niet eerder gezien heb. knap man!
I like the way you figured it out on the go. I think you'll do well at this.
Excellent start to finish! Thank you.
Groovy, that’s the way I built all my cigars box guitars.👍
Awesome job, love the workshop!
thanks for linking your stuff in the description Ive been looking for uke pickups for a while and your the first person to actually link where you got the pickups from
Thank you! Excellent work.
That was amazing. Thank you.
nice job bro.thanks for sharing this great vid.
Cool! I never assembled anything other than IKEA furniture by myself, but ... still got a hope to build some super simple and lo-tech string instrument one day : )
I just built one of these on my channel and it’s great!
Good job.
I've never heard a video pairing a cigarbox guitar with Cuban music. Good idea! Making soundholes might created a better acoustic sound, though it's unnecessary with a electric pickup and a good amplifier. But I think you should have placed the pickup on Elisabeth. You should have drilled Elisabeth. Drilled her several times, in fact. I mean where the name is, of course.
I love it, it look really nice and sounds great. Great build
Great job. Looks good
misterously switching between 4 and 6 elements pick up, back and forth. generally the angle between the pickup and the neck is mirrorimaged of the way you did id. nice guitar and video! And a really nice mello sound.
The part where you go to the other shop 😂. Good stuff!
Great for a first effort building a guitar! Well done! It would be interesting to see you build a good quality solid body electric guitar.
amazing :D and nice that you're back :)
hey, sorry it took so long :)
no problem man and i must say that i watched every video on your chanel and that you're amazing :D
I add 2 springs under a little tension along the neck to give it natural reverb.
where do people get these cigar boxes?
Wow! It's beautiful! I love the offset pickups, and the neck is sublime! How about some "f holes" or small resonators? I'm starting to build one today, but I'm going to try to do the neck angle around 15 degrees.
Pretty darn good for a first time!! But, I have to say that's a pretty extreme angle for the headstock scarf joint!!! Most angles I've seen (and I cut) are around 15 degrees ... still, great build!
Thanks! I didn't really notice any negative effects from the headstock. But i see how it would be better with a smaller angle. Thanks for the tip! 👍
@@SpareTimeShop heheh, my observation about the angle is very minor to the point of "who cares, it works!" I don't why I even mentioned it... like I said that's a great cigar box uke!!
You still need knobs. How about some dice? You could drill out the one dot (because it's already centered) and have the sixes looking at you. Just a thought.
Great idea!
Really awesome........
Thanks a lot :)
Cuba!!! Que viva Cuba!!
Excellent video! I’m going to build an electric cigar box guitar for my next project. I’m wanting to go with two pickups and a three-way selector switch...sort of telecaster style. Any tips for that? I’m probably going to go three strings instead of four, though.
Thx alot
Can you make one fretless and six string??
Such a great video showing techniques useful in any cigar box building.
Is the neck a 1" x 2" piece to start with? (actual 3/4 x 1 1/2)?
Wondering about enough space for the 4 strings.
Thanks for making this one. Very helpful!
😀 How about making a cigar humidor out of an electric guitar?
how will the fabric on the inside affect the sound? Will it rattle less is it better?
How does the sound hold up after years under tension? Is there any warping of the neck
Knap gemaakt!
bedankt :)
What fret calculator did you use? Oh, and amazing build by the way. I have a perfect box in mind for mine. I brought some (not)Cubans home from South Africa in it once.
whats that saw you are using...??
I'm guessing you mean my "japanese" flush trim saw (very thin blade) from Stanley. You can get these and spare blades in pretty much any home improvement store. Hope this helps 🙂
Is it possible to use an actual guitar neck on this?
Yes of course! it would make it a lot more easy in fact. I didn't have one, so I made my own. Thanks for watching 😁
Spare Time Shop thanks for responding! I was planning to make a cigar box as my first homemade guitar, hope it goes well! P.S. I’m pretty new here and I’m enjoying your content so far! Keep it up!
Subscribed!!! You do get work bro.
Another question?
I noticed when you were measuring for your frets it appeared you were measuring from the top end of the fret board.
Shouldn't the scale length be measured from the middle of the bolt (where the string makes contact on the top of the bolt)?
You instrument sounds great however you did it!
Yeah, i added half the bolt thickness to the fret size, its easier to measure that way. Thanks for watching 😁
ik moet dit zelf maar een keer proberen
What are the measurements of each piece of wood?
Just realized the T shirt. Lol asem... West vlaams ftw
Awesome, en het geluid is beter dan verwacht!
thanks, dat is deels omdat ik nog maar 4 akkoorden kan :p
Hashtag: You can make almost anything into an electric guitar if you can buy or know how to construct a neck.
That headstock angle 🤭😳
It's a bit strong, but that's an arbitrary thing. There's no wrong angle.
Van waar ben je
Oudenaarde city!!!!
8:48 WTF hahahahahahahahahahaha
could you have gone more in depth on the measurements
Can it rock? No)
❤😂😂
Think this is easy enough for someone who hasn’t really built anything ever? Hahaha
Daling maguba
Except you measured the frets from the edge of the nut, and not the highest point.
Maybe next time, just build a solid body guitar the same size as the inside of the box? Insert the solid body into the box. Done.
