I've made 2 CBUs, one for my brother and one for me (because as I was breaking in the one for my bro I was having too much fun and thought I'd better have one of my own!) ... Both have rod piezos under the saddle positions with an onboard equalizer which in my opinion (via Shane Speal) makes all the difference between "good enough" piezos and "much better" piezos!! Funny story: the original neck for my brother's uke was just a tad narrow, playable but not really fun playable. But, hey, it's just a cigar box uke and it's just for my brother, right?! "Just?" for my brother?! Well, I took the unacceptable neck out, made another the proper width and boy, was it much more fun to play!! And if it's not fun to play what's the point?! Oh, yeah and it being for my brother it had to be done right!! 🤣
@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Could you do a video about songs to play on CBG with very basic chord shapes, like one finger on all 3 strings, one finger on the melody string, 'stacked', and 'staggered' shapes? I have some motor skills issues so I can't do the more complex stuff.
It is an L-hook or L shaped screw hook used for similar purposes as the normal C shaped hooks like hanging keys or other small, light things. A nice alternative to using a screw in that location as a string retainer. 👍
Answers a ton of questions. I am building a CBG " Trigger" based on Willie's Nelson's; out of an old very dead classical. Needed to solve the nylon string dilemma. Also nylons would be great for kids guitars due to sensitive tiny fingers. Can't wait to hear it amplified. Thanks again Del.
You know the Queen of Hearts is always your best beat.
hopefully I'll end up using ALL OF THEM 🙂
Most beefy guitars,Stand up basses and Chello's have a beefy heal at the body to the neck joint.

Definitely looking forward to seeing you "Tear it Uuup" on that one.
Cigar boxes are almost a real good size for a Mandolin, too.
Not only the Ace at building CBGs; you are the King at building CBUs!!! Take care my friend. Can't wait until your next video.
Thanks 👍

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing your build process.
Could you build same concept for violin?? 🎻
sure - I've seen other people do it ...
Just for something different have you ever considered making a cutaway cigar box guitar ?
Hey did you build the shirt you’re wearing?
Del, looks like your "0" fret is a bigger fret than the others? I would guess it has to be since grooves are cut in it. Nice build!
it’s a JUMBO fret
L shaped hook know as a dresser hook.
That totally explains your craziness: split shot lead poisoning......the MAD HATTER of cbg's. 😃😆😆😆😆😆😆
And the sound? You never said anything about the sound of your Ukulele!
