About 2 years ago I realized the trick to finding my perfect shade every time is to look for the lightest, grayest shade lol. I definitely have warmth to my skin, it's just olive/gray not yellow/orange

This is such a thoughtful explanation of applied color theory! I struggled for years trying to determine my undertone. The MOST helpful fact I learned is that all color temperature is relative - clearly stated in your video. For me, seeing how yellow I looked photographed next to my cool-toned daughter was key. But next to my more golden friends, I look cool. I've landed on neutral skewing warm for myself. Determining undertone for my Caribbean husband was hard - he's very brown, but he has a red undertone. Color is complicated.. It's all relative!
foundation has to match overtone and is separate to undertone. There are no neutral undertones, everyone leans either warm or cool. Olive skin is cool undertone, and the olive appearance is due to the mix of cool undertone with golden overtone.
You're spot on about the spectrum! It's SO hard to find the right shade of foundation for my undertone! The traditional "techniques" indicate that I'm more on the warm side but some of the warm stuff looks unappealing on my skin and then both silver and gold look good on me (gold looks better tho). So far, I have found Audrey Coyne and Haley to be closer to my tone.
Audrey Coyne is actually an olive undertone, most likely on the cool or neutral side. She looks great in a lot of deep and subdued cooler colours, but can carry off gold jewelry and a camel coloured coat -- a great dichotomy in her colouring. 🥰

omg yes I've loved that blog post for several years! so genius!
This video was literally so amazing !!! I learned so much new information 🫶🏻 thank you !!!
I'm so glad!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'm turkish and turks doesnt have just one typical features. We have asian, white, red, middle east types. I'm Asian type turk and I was thinking my under tone is warm cuz my skin looks yellow but I love silver jewelry, I love famous dior light pink blush, I use wet n wild blossom highlighter, i was dye pink and purple my hair and everybody likes purple on me. But now I found I'm cold. 🤍
This is sooo helpful. I've spent so much money buying different foundation brands and I still get the same result - YELLOW foundation. :( I didn't know a lot about undertones and it explains it. I'm warm/olive. My sister and I are of the same complexion but have different undertones. I've been buying what she recommends and it's been discouraging. Thanks for this!
