I read somewhere that Rosalie thinking about her own beauty was a way to get Edward to stop reading her thoughts. He hears her thinking about herself and mentally rolls his eyes and moves on.
I was listening to the audio he was listening to but I couldn’t get through actually reading the book without being over it and rolling my eyes. Anyway, omg I kept telling myself he’s such a kid!!! And especially now that I’m an adult it’s even worse/funny to read this book. The whole, she likes me I can’t believe it. I’m good looking? Really? Ughhhhhh he’s a 100 year old vampire with a 17 year old mindset and zero love life experience.
It's the way that Edward constantly refers to his classmates as children but doesn't acknowledge that Bella is also a child. The closest we get to him admitting it is when he refers to Bella as a girl.
"there is no way Edward has double the thoughts that Bella has!" He doesn't sleep 😭😅 he definitely does. Plus he has everyone else's thoughts in there 😂😂😂😂 I haven't read the original trilogy in a long time but reread Midnight Sun recently. Really liked the insights we got on Jasper through Edward's POV and how James didn't notice Bella right away.
Thank you so much for reading this story and giving us your commentary :) Midnight Sun is so dear to me lol. I adore it with my whole heart, it’s unhinged and hilarious and as an og twilight girlie, it captures for me, better than anything else, that particular flavor of angsty-earnestness that brings me right back to being 14, depressed, and so wholesome. Edward Cullen having one long panic attack for the entire 700 pages of this novel, counting bugs in the meadow in order to tame his thirst and let us know once again how god-tier his multitasking skills are, chasing James across the whole of Canada, and crushing the bottle cap as a symbol of his failure to protect Bella, ughhh it’s so emo and fun. I cannot wait for you to read new moon - the plot development is 🤌🏻🤌🏻 thank you so much for doing this!!
I absolutely love your take on these books! LOVED going through the Hunger Gmaes with you and revisiting Twilight is even more fun! BTW the shelves are great!
I agree with the hereditary theory about Bella's powers. Women usually get an interesting part of their father's DNA signature because remember the male side of the equation is what decides the gender of the baby. It would make sense that her power is enhanced but still traceable to Charlie.
The first part of this book was amazing, but after a certain point, Edward's self-hatred and obsession with Bella became a bit repetitive. If this book had been 200 pages shorter, it would have been excellent!
I couldn’t even finish it for this exact reason. It was wayyyy too much self loathing. I stopped at a little more than 100 pages from the end. It was too much.
One thing I need you to know is that this version of Midnight Sun is an "improved" version. The leaked 12 chapters from back in 2008 were... much worse. I distinctly remember that when Edward first goes to watch Bella sleep, he is still considering killing her. It also didn't have everything with the Cullens - it was basically all about Bella. Stephenie Meyer largely rewrote it (to much better results in my opinion) and it makes it this insane, unhinged, hilarious look into Edward's POV. Now if you want to REALLY laugh, take a look at Stephenie Meyer's FAQ on her website about all the Twilight lore (I *think* her website still has much of the same content. There's answers to the mechanics of vampirism as she imagined it and some things about the plot and it's so good.
my absolutely favourite headcanon is that bella and charlie are just autistic so edward can’t read their thoughts LMFAOOOOOO. logistically and for lore purposes it’s not true but i loved it. explains bellas personality a lot too. ++ also on edward being dark/creepy. it’s pretty traditional for gothic literature to have taboos like this. he’s a vampire, he’s not going to be taking her out for ice cream, you know? gothic literature has to be weird lmfaoo. ALSO author is a Mormon… so Edward’s protectiveness and like … pushiness of bellas boundaries is likely some … gender stuff from being a Mormon. the Mormon stuff gets uhhhhhhhhhhh MORE prevalent later.
Out of those extra stuff you mentioned at the end, you should probably read the short story The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner. The main bad guys of the series show up in New Moon and are pretty important for the rest of the series, particularly Breaking Dawn, and Bree Tanner’s short story gives some information on them that makes it worth reading. It take place during the timeline of Eclipse, so I recommend reading it before Breaking Dawn.
I genuinely smile when these videos come up on my feed. Thank you so much! If you're looking for another series that came out of this era, maybe divergent or mortal instruments.
As someone who only has ever watched the twilight movies, I love getting additional insight from your perspective on the books. So excited for you to read and watch new moon! And yes, your shelf is very nice
i can’t tell you how excited i am that you’re actually reading twilight i’ve obsessed over how bad but amazing these books are and im enjoying living vicariously through you and your first time experiencing it and my god does it just get worse i’m so excited!
This is so great for just the look into the Cullens, it's such fun to read (very much in a slight fascination/horror/trainwreck sense) if you ever saw the show YOU, it's very on point to so much of Edwards behaviour and view - yes it's overwhelmingly controlling, obsessive and toxic as fuck. He starts to micromanage every little detail of her life and everything around her. For Jasper also consider the fact of his power of empathy...... he has insane control as he also feels all the bloodthirst of his entire family.... (his mindset and appearance make a hell of a lot of sense for that) particularly Edwards for Bella on top of it all (forget Edward not massacring his singer and the classroom and most likely entire school.... it's *jasper* that should have snapped at the moment and killed everyone, and he didn't) And to be fair to the length - it is completely in character for Edward.
i don't think you understand how happy these videos make me, it's sooo fun to watch you enjoy and want to know more about that insane world, it really brings me back to when i first read the series
I’ve been a fan of twilight since I was 14 years old I am now 30 years old. I’m also a woman and what are the things that I like about twilight is the way we’re as able to go back and critique the series because there’s a lot of different themes and things you can kind of like look into deeper or with new perspectives like when I was younger and very much team Edward, I really like twilight and new moon and didn’t really fuck with the eclipse now eclipse is probably my favourite book in the series. Another thing that you’ll notice is like now that we have midnightsun and when you re-read the rest of the series kind of like can reflect and be like oh I get why it’s written this way Bella 17. She’s an unreliable narrator because she’s a child.
I began following you for the Hunger Games rants (which I LOVED). I have never seen or read any of the Twilight series and still absolutely love these reviews, even if I don't understand the references. Hilarity ensues!!
I'm rereading Midnight Sun. It occurred to me that there is an element of Fated Mates in this series. It's much deeper than infatuation leads instantly to blind, intense devotion and love. You see elements of Fated Mates mostly clearly in the last book. So, it makes Edward and Bella's instant connection and deep bond more plausible. I can also see toches of Romeo and Juliet.
I don't think it's ever explicitly explained in relation to Edward, but there are things in the books later on that indicate this does happen to vampires
I've watched this now a few times, and I feel like it would've been good if this book continued in the other books. As the story progresses and Jacob gets more of a prominent role, a dual pov book could potentially be really cool.
8:42 pretty much everyone's reaction to Emmett fighting the bear to be real. just like "ah yes, i needed this." and places it in the equivalent of the brain's back pocket
Brother your awesome, I’ve became a fan in one night. Watching all your out takes on you reading the books and watching the movies that I love, and that is including the hunger games series, are great and hilarious you got me cracking up. Keep up the good work, I’m loving it.
When you said Edward could date anyone including a supermodel, my brain went crazy and thought of this scenario where vampires only ever date supermodels and turn them and then eventually when humanity goes extinct, the only people left on Earth are vampires and supermodel vampires. Anyways, I think this book makes Twilight so much darker, where before it felt a little bit silly. Imagine re-reading the first book and everytime Bella is home living her life Edward is watching from the shadows. That scene where she goes outside to read and he's just lurking at the edge of the forest watching. Shivers down my spine.
I love that you're leaning into how ridiculous and chaotic this franchise is. Because you're right, both the movies and books are so completely unhinged that they're incredibly entertaining. The films are some of my favorite "turn off your brain and have fun" movies to watch when I need to relax.
really random but if you have time Stephanie Meyer also wrote The Host and it also has a movie. I think it would be fun to read as well. I personally always enjoyed that book a bit more than the twilight series 😅
I actually love hearing your reviews. You are drawing the perfect line between loving and hating it - just like many of us who read it as teenagers too :) The gender-swap story is actually really good too :) The perfect amount of nostalgia, but with enough new stuff that you don't feel like you are reading the same story again.. Sort of like with Midnight Sun
I’m my opinion Jasper wins best Cullen backstory hands down. They all have interesting backstories (except Emmett as far as I remember) but Jasper’s is just great. I’m looking forwards to hearing your thoughts as more is revealed.
Another great take. Enjoy your new lair. thought you were going to say he Dexter'd the two guys who were going to kill Bella, but that's a whole other franchise...
Love your shelves! I hope you put some plants on the top. Also be aware that with your general camera placement, the edge is close to creating a center line behind your head. Love your videos!
I threw the book when Edward decides to leave Bella in midnight sun and then doesn't break up with her. Without spoiling anything, that's enraging considering what happens later.
The first observation Bella internally has about Jess is that she's jealous so this is not new information to me. She was positioned to be Bella's not-really-friend from the start.
I was waiting to see if you would mention him bringing wd40 to her house lol the whole staging Bella's accident scene was insane to read as well, crime sindicate indeed
It's been crazy to come back to Twilight after so long and realize just how toxic the entire story is. Like we were really just out here accepting this as a normal love story back in the day
Midnight sun made me team Jacob. I read it last and reading how Edward was always planning on leaving Bella at the end of twilight just made me dislike Edward on a new level
I am GIDDY, brb going to listen to the entire Midnight Sun audiobook again. How is Race not your favourite chapter for humour ever? It's Fast and the Furious on crack with sparkly vampires. Maybe it's because I was such a Twihard as a teenager, but god this book is pure comedy gold to me.
I can't believe fans told you to read this one after Twilight! Some certain things are definitely spoiled... This whole book is basically a extra bonus book for fans and not for plot at all, imo
Edward is a professional yapper
I read somewhere that Rosalie thinking about her own beauty was a way to get Edward to stop reading her thoughts. He hears her thinking about herself and mentally rolls his eyes and moves on.
ooh I love this
"Eddie, buddy, you barely know this girls name" IM DYING 🤣
his frontal lobe has not finished developing 😔
Esmee is the only one to have a fully developed frontal lobe and it shows, even Carlisle is only 23
I believe Edward is also mentally/emotionally stuck at 17 so it makes sense why he’s in constant turmoil…he eternally belongs in high school.
Yes! The books say that you never develop past where you were. How horrible to be a 17 year old boy forever

I haven't read the original trilogy in a long time but reread Midnight Sun recently. Really liked the insights we got on Jasper through Edward's POV and how James didn't notice Bella right away.
Plus, it's EDWARD!! We always want more Edward😍
Thank you so much for reading this story and giving us your commentary :) Midnight Sun is so dear to me lol. This comment is too underrated.
I loved every word of yours because it's so true.
We know that Twilight is a trashy saga but we also love it for this.
“The gaslighting sounds less crazy”… have you just been…gaslit? 😄
I'm starting to realize Edward may have been the catalyst for what has become an obsession with dark slightly murderous and toxic mmc
He doesn't sleep 😂😂😂, he over thinks and he's an emo teenager 😂😂
I absolutely love your take on these books! LOVED going through the Hunger Gmaes with you and revisiting Twilight is even more fun! BTW the shelves are great!
Oh thank you!

This series is healing my inner child who got bullied in school after being obsessd with twilight. I'll proceed to read the whole saga again
my absolutely favourite headcanon is that bella and charlie are just autistic so edward can’t read their thoughts LMFAOOOOOO. logistically and for lore purposes it’s not true but i loved it. explains bellas personality a lot too.

Okay but the novella, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” is soooooo good and worth the read. Have to wait until after Eclipse to read it though.
It's definitely a must-read, I agree
I was team Edward for over 10 years, until Midnight sun. Now I’m an adult and I want to do Charlie
I genuinely smile when these videos come up on my feed. Thank you so much! If you're looking for another series that came out of this era, maybe divergent or mortal instruments.
Mortal Instruments is so messy, I would love to see him react to that madness
Jasper has a specific characteristic that I suspect might impact your ranking… no spoilers though, see you in a future twilight book
As someone who only has ever watched the twilight movies, I love getting additional insight from your perspective on the books. So excited for you to read and watch new moon! And yes, your shelf is very nice
Your delight on a vampire rippers backstory.... What are your thoughts on Anakin Skywalker? 🤣
Not just the men.... But the women and the children!
i can’t tell you how excited i am that you’re actually reading twilight i’ve obsessed over how bad but amazing these books are and im enjoying living vicariously through you and your first time experiencing it and my god does it just get worse i’m so excited!
you are now my favorite yapper hahaha
Edward might be 17, but that doesn't stop him from referring to Bella as "the child". What a prince charming.
I actually really loved Midnight Sun, kinda wish we got Edward’s pov for all of them lol
The bookshelf is contemporary & sophisticated. Love the typewriter!
I'm so excited for this. Please read the gender flipped version too
emmett is so goofy. Bag of eggs, fighting bears as revenge. Love him
Excuse me, what? There's a gender swapped version?
@@Deryatariit’s called Life and Death
I feel bad to encourage him to read that one but this is entertaining 😂
Don’t do this to me. I’m too deep
i don't think you understand how happy these videos make me, it's sooo fun to watch you enjoy and want to know more about that insane world, it really brings me back to when i first read the series

Did I read this book? No
Did I watch the video? Yes
Did I love it? Absolutely yes
Also I love that you're a fellow Slytherin but on the other hand how cool would it be to see you react to HP for the first time lol
I just love the way this man reacts ❤️❤️
I began following you for the Hunger Games rants (which I LOVED). I have never seen or read any of the Twilight series and still absolutely love these reviews, even if I don't understand the references. Hilarity ensues!!
go back and see his prior stuff... he has always been amazing!
The way I jumped at this notification! I love watching your commentary and this has been the best way to get my partner into twilight.
him helping angela start dating ben is also so funny
This video has inspired me to re-start the whole Twilight series. Definitely need to read this again. Love your videos ❤️
I wish you read and commented all the books we used to read as teenagers/YA😁😁😁
I’m late to seeing this video but I’m only 5 minutes in & I haven’t stopped smiling at the joy you got from readying this book 😊
I'm rereading Midnight Sun. It occurred to me that there is an element of Fated Mates in this series. It's much deeper than infatuation leads instantly to blind, intense devotion and love. I haven’t read any of the Twilight books. Is it explained that Edward is just stuck in a 17 year old maturity/ headspace? Cause that dude is crazy
I don't think it's ever explicitly explained in relation to Edward, but there are things in the books later on that indicate this does happen to vampires

edward is so unhinged and SEVENTEEN it’s so funny. she really made him 17 regardless of how smart he is and everything else
0:49 This comment made me laugh so hard I had to pause the video for about 7 minutes because I had the same thought and was very quickly proven wrong.
I really cannot wait for you to read New Moon, that is a wonderful roller-coaster
Bella is Edwards little window to humanity ✨
Commenting for the algorithm. I love these videos. Never stop :)
The whole bit at 17:29 had me dying, it was just too relatable
Been waiting for this video!
I am enjoying your commentary sm, can't wait for the next video!
I cannot wait for the rest of this series honestly
23:48 If you do plan to read the senond novella you mentioned you need to wait until after eclipse.
really random but if you have time Stephanie Meyer also wrote The Host and it also has a movie. I think it would be fun to read as well. I personally always enjoyed that book a bit more than the twilight series 😅
I used to love that book but I hated the movie!
The love and hate ride here is just chef's kiss.
Thanks for reading the book so I don't have to. 😂
I started to like Emmet so much more after reading this book. He's so protective with Bella. He's my dream big brother (I am an only child)
I’ve read a lot of paranormal romance and usually vampires can’t read the minds or thoughts of their future mates.
I’m just jealous about your original covers of Throne of Glass setting on your shelf😭
I can't believe I watched and loved the video so hard!❤❤❤
I actually love hearing your reviews. You are drawing the perfect line between loving and hating it - just like many of us who read it as teenagers too :)
The gender-swap story is actually really good too :) The perfect amount of nostalgia, but with enough new stuff that you don't feel like you are reading the same story again.. Sort of like with Midnight Sun
I’m my opinion Jasper wins best Cullen backstory hands down. They all have interesting backstories (except Emmett as far as I remember) but Jasper’s is just great. I’m looking forwards to hearing your thoughts as more is revealed.
Yeaaaa. Edward definitely mas****ates with his own angsty tears. If he had tears, that is.
Love your videos!
literally loving this so much !
I know it's off topic, but I would LOVE a video of you talking about Stefan's ripper persona
Can I be in love with this man I don't know besides watching all his videos for the last 2 days? Is it a super creepy Edward move? 😂
missing charlie is so real
Edward is literally 17 forever. He‘s frozen in time, that‘s why he behaves like that 😉
Tbh the bree tanner novella is a nice way to give more context to eclipse but is to be read after
I threw the book when Edward decides to leave Bella in midnight sun and then doesn't break up with her. Without spoiling anything, that's enraging considering what happens later.
Midnight Sun walked so current dark romance could walk 🤣
22:21 Oh we know Jessica Stanley 😂
The first observation Bella internally has about Jess is that she's jealous so this is not new information to me. She was positioned to be Bella's not-really-friend from the start.
Exactly. Angela was the nice one. Jess was a frenemy.
I was waiting to see if you would mention him bringing wd40 to her house lol the whole staging Bella's accident scene was insane to read as well, crime sindicate indeed
Why did they choose a guy whose voice sounds like a 50 year old man 😂 to voice Edward
You will eventually learn why Edward cannot read Bella's mind, be patient :) enjoying this series!!!
Anyone else ready for the Breaking Dawn book vs Breaking Dawn pt 2 movie review? No spoilers but I cannot WAIT, please god watch the movie second.
OH MY GOD IS THAT A MIDNIGHT IN PARIS POSTER I NEED A MOVIE REVIEW RIGHT NOW PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE
If I could pay for you to solely read and do these videos I would. I fcking love them
Omg thank you for reading this for me so I don't have to.
It's been crazy to come back to Twilight after so long and realize just how toxic the entire story is. Like we were really just out here accepting this as a normal love story back in the day
Midnight sun made me team Jacob. I read it last and reading how Edward was always planning on leaving Bella at the end of twilight just made me dislike Edward on a new level
is this how I find out Edward couldn't hear Charlie's thoughtssssss?
I just realized now how disturbing it is that suicide is romanticized throughout the whole Twilight story
I am GIDDY, brb going to listen to the entire Midnight Sun audiobook again. How is Race not your favourite chapter for humour ever? It's Fast and the Furious on crack with sparkly vampires. Maybe it's because I was such a Twihard as a teenager, but god this book is pure comedy gold to me.
your shelves look great. Where'd you get them
I hope you read the host by Stephanie Meyer after this series 😂
Alice is amazing!
"Eddie...Buddy" sent me 😂
edward's brain is frozen in time he's 17 forever it doesn't matter he's actually 104
I can't believe fans told you to read this one after Twilight! Some certain things are definitely spoiled... This whole book is basically a extra bonus book for fans and not for plot at all, imo
Please record yourself watching the movies! 😜 Yes!!! 🫶 I wish I can give you like 100likes for this video!!! 🤣✌️🙃☺️
Love it!
I was so anxious waiting for this haha
