Hey family! Welcome to Episode 4! This is our last episode unfortunately 😔 More details in the video. I hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think in the comments and happy Sunday! One love ❤️
This is the first video I’ve watched of her and when I scrolled down i was so surprised to see she didn’t have 1mil subs and her video’s are so underrated
@@CongoTalks243 I find your channel very informative keep up the good work .. Whoever is looking for good information will surely find your channel.. keep doing what you are doing... peace 🙏🏾
You are a daughter of Africa. Very good narrative Lunda Queen imposed her rule over the Alui/Aluyi tribe today called Lozis in Zambia 🇿🇲 to this day her decadent still seat on the LOZI throne . I wish one day I could meet you, don't despair you are doing a great job.
You are a bit off. The Aluyi migrated to Zambia from Congo around 400 years ago. The founding matriarch of the Aluyi is Mbuyuwamwambwa a Luba princess who had children with a Lunda prince. But it wasn't until the time of her descendant Ngalama that the current ruling dynasty was established in its current form, and cemented control of the region that would form the "Barotseland kingdom." The Aluyi are the dominant tribe of the region and have always produced the 'royal' lineage for the kingdom. But they never practised inbreeding and intermarried with foreigners and the surrounding tribes. We Lozis are mixed people, of primarily Luba stock, under a dynasty whose male lineage traces back to Luba royalty.
It's very interesting that you talked about the downfall of the empire. I remember being taught at school that the downfall of the Lunda empire started when the Yeke people immigrated from Tanzania and had constant wars with the Lunda until the Lunda lost all connections with the confederate states that made up the empire. In addition to that, the slave trade brought by the Yeke people and the introduction of Swahili in the region of Katanga weakened the Lunda empire. By the way, Kirund/Kilunda was the Lingua franca of Katanga before being replaced by Swahili. The Lunda empire finally collapsed when the Belgians acquired most of its territories.
What?! This is the last episode... noooo... boooo😅.. I'm sad now, I was hooked.... Interestingly, we have two Lunda groups in Zambia, the ones in the Luapula valley up North under chief Mwata Kazembe and the ones in the Northwest under senior chiefs Ishindi, Ndungu and Kanongesha...
Yes I am a White Person I am so sorry that White Men cause so much hurt in the Congo My Tata was a good men he love you people and So do I and Mama too love you people we got good memories of the Congo and all my family miss the Congo so much we live in Matadi ,it good to see thing pot on video that we seen in the Congo and the Congolese you speak I remember some love your Video,
Nowadays the majority lunda people are located in Angola.!!! They want to separate from Angola to rebuild their kingdom. In Angola they are called lunda-tchoke.
If you want to have a lot of ressource of Congolese kingdom you better go watch Thomas luhaka who’s one of history teacher in Congo , he talks about all of the kingdom in Congo
Hey felicity, hope you're well. It's sad to hear you've put a pause on the series.. But what I'd suggest is if you can have a look at the Yaka Kingdom, situated in the Bandundu region, quite interesting history, they stem from the Lunda men that left Lunda empire to reate a new society im the Kongo region of kwango. Mixing with the yaka warriors that were there.. They Resisted numerous times European attacks. I've got materials i can forward to you to help your research, you're interested. Thanks. Have a blessed one.
There was no Yaka Kingdom 🤣🤣🤣🤣 swear everyone wants a Kingdom. You claim to be descended of Lundas yet your language is closer to Kikongo languages than Lunda languages. Funny
@@stayalert7060 The Yaka Kingdom existed, there is research on this although not much. The whole reason why we’re here is to learn and that requires open mindedness to double check information before ruling it out. The Yaka kingdom was established in the Kwango region of the Kingdom of Kongo and it was established by Lunda conquerors led by King Kasongo. What was known as the Yaka Kingdom was once part of the kingdom of Kongo, that’s why you see Kikongo influence. And the word “Yaka” is a title that the kingdom of Kongo gave to the their warriors. Throughout the colonial era, the Yaka Kingdom was one of the most organised kingdoms and also one of the most resistant to the colonial influence. I hope this provides some clarity. Blessings
@@CongoTalks243 thank you, I failed to see this comment. I will will forward you the documents, but it seems as though you've done alot of research already
@CongoTalks, I would be good if you also talked about the Mushi empire which controlled majority of the Eastern Congo, The Bangala and Mongo empire that controlled the Northern part of the DRC, including the Tetela Kingdom
I just came upon your video. I would like to clarify some of your founding. Tshibanda as you called him never reign for simple reason that not only he came from another tribe but his mother , grand mother were not from the Lunda royal family. The kingship come from the mother side. Queen Ruwej married Ilunga who is from balubakat tribe in Katanga he is not from Baluba tribe which is in Kasaï. Queen Ruwej couldn’t have children and therefore gave her cousin Kamong a Ruwaz, daughter of Kasomp a Ruwaz from Mukachiland, to Yirung (Ilunga) to have children. They had a son Yav a Yirung. Each time that Queen RUWEJ had her period she had to take off the royal bracelet Rukan( made with human veins ) and she will give it to Yirung for safekeeping. One day Yirung fled with the Rukan. His son chase after him, killed him and returned the bracelet. In Lunda Empire we have more than 5 family from whom an Emperor can emerge. I come from one of royal family. Mwant Yav Kaumb who reigned from 1920-1951 who his father was also Mwant Yav.
Can you tell me where you got this because I'm going down a rabbit hole of the kingdoms of congo and I have yet to find more information other that a few sentences.
Oh, wow, you just mentioned the Chokwe. They are one of the major tribal groups of Angola. I guess the northern Angolans and the Southern Kongolese are the same people.
The Lunda empire crossed the borders of Zambia and Angola the colonialists separated us, I think identifying ourselves by which empire or kingdom you are from will kind of bring us together.
Mwat kanongesha, mwat ishindi makanki kazada chanyika, mwat chinyama these were the sons of mwat nkondi and they left after there sister luwej or nawej married tshibinda ilunga who came from luba land
I was told that the kwilu area was part of the Lunda common wealth but I’m not sure. I personally think it is a crossroad of the Kongo, Lunda and kuba kingdom. By the way I’m bunda from the Idiofa, Kwilu area
Yes, I remember as a kid, we learnt that certain tribes such as the Tshokwe, the Luvale, the Leele, and the Mbunda belong to the family that composed the Lunda empire. She was right about the empire having confederate states.
HEY GREAT WORK, MY MOM WAS LUNDA THOUGH BASED IN ZAMBIA. MY DAD BELONGS TO AN EHTHNIC GROUP RIGHT THERE IN CONGO CALLED SALAMPASU ( I DON'T KNOW THE PREFIX USED WHETHER ITS CHISALAMPASU OR.....). I WAS N'T BROUGHT UP WITH HIM THOUGH, BUT MOM TALKED TO ME ABOUT HIM. HAVE COME ACROSS SUCH A TRIBE IN CONGO? THANKS.
I personally have not come across anyone from the tribe but yes, the tribe exists in Congo. The Salampasu people can be found on the Western side of Congo, at the border between The DRC and Angola. Maybe I will explore a bit more about them in the future.
Thanks , would be very grateful if you do so. I wanna know my ethnic group. I even have my two sisters there, mom got me into Zambia when I was just a toddler. All I know is about Zambia.
Yes Queen Ruwej didnt have childreen for her own. Apart of practicing matrimonial system Lunda or Ruund people practiced also "Polyandry ". That makes sense since a King s daughter can be Queen like in the case of Ruwej with all power as a King therefore a queen is allowed to have multiple husbands in the court just like kings were practicing polygamy. So polyandry was popular in Lunda society.
@@CongoTalks243 Thank you for your work in keeping informing people. Next time If you have time try to do Yeke or Bayeke Kingdom (Ganrangaze people) its interesting Kingdom in Katanga province.
Luiji did not look at his father s nakedness when he was drunk and removed his clothes but the two brothers did and made fun of their father when he came around about what transpired the father then proclaimed luiji to be his succesor and not the brothers they faught with but the sister but she was powerful the brothres therefore moved to countries in southern and east africa
