Just did the dash swap a few weeks ago... Holy Shizz! Such a huge difference. Like the old speakers weren't even there. So much louder, and crisper sound all around. All inspired by this video- thanks for the walk through!!!
aug 2021 replaced these; took all of 30 minutes including unbox - install - clean up. connectors are exact, speakers are a definite improvement. thanks GT, this helped.
Purchased everything you linked in the description and just finished installing. Took like 15 mins. Thank you- what a difference in sound. Now for the doors...
Haven't watched your door speaker video but i can almost guarantee those were the issue. My stock speakers were starting to blow in my renegade just s few years after i bought it. Hot garbage. Replaced them with some mid tier JBLs and it made a world of difference. I need to do those dash speakers too. Thanks for the walk thru, my man!
keep in mind that the adapter reverses the negatives and positives. I had to cute the tip off adapter, use the speaker splice that comes in box and wire it correctly. if you look at the the way it goes into oem speaker and way it goes to adapter to speaker, you will see what i'm talking about.
Appreciate the video! Getting ready to do the same on my 17 limited. AND thinking about using an Allen wrench to get at some truly loathsome Torx in the MySky Rails! Guess I've just always had Torx bits handy and never knew/thought about Allen's as a work around. So, thanks 2 times 🙂 hope your Renny ain't misbehaving!
@@AdventureGT ya damn right! And usually a plan C, D... Hey I'm thrilled I learned something I didnt know. That's pretty great. It actually makes me excited for my work week to wind up so I can get after that sunroof again. Maybe I'll FINALLY fix the cursed thing. Feels good to be inspired to work, so thank you. I hope you do more Rene stuff. I may try to vid my MySky repair. Should be a disaster. I'll let you know. Take care of you and roll on.
I have the same problem and the cause could the insulation that goes behind each speaker or the the transistor units that gives power to each channel, with in the time, every time that it's overheated the sound quality decreases...I am thinking to change the whole system...starting with the upgrade of the radio system...to a more modern unit...with the same capabilities than the factory one...
Everything you have done to your renegade I have done right after lol! Waiting on my day time running lights but after that everything should be good , but lately we have been having this jerking motion while driving , dodge has said they are more then likely gonna replace the motor , their is a recall coming soon is what they said , I have a 2018 btw with 50k miles I bought it knew if u have this problem I would love to know what your dealership told you , we thought it was the transmission
Its good to hear my videos are inspiring people to do the same. 😁 Thanks for the heads up. I haven't heard anything yet or felt anything while driving my Renny.
Hey Man Nice Video. I was more curious how difficult it would be on this vehicle; seems not difficult. You actually got kind of lucky those done tweeters didn’t protrude too far and interfere with the grilles 😅. Does this have a subwoofer 🔊, either factory or aftermarket? That’d be one of the first things I’d do if I had this. I put one in my Miata several years ago and it made a huuuuge difference in overall sound quality. Although the head unit needs to have crossover control so as to block the lows from the door & dash speakers; the point is to make the subwoofer do that heavy lifting. Also YT has a lot of good frequency sweep test videos to gauge the sound system.
Anyone know what the whites taps on the speaker grill are called? The white connector thing that makes the grill snap back into place. When I took the grill off 2 of those things fell off now my speaker grill doesn’t snap in.
Thank you so much for making this vid! Will the same parts work for my 2018 jeep renegade limited? Also do I have to get door speakers along with these dashboard one? I am seeing people talk about distortion once you hit a certain volume and bass?
Well I would say you don't have to get door speakers but it will improve your sound if you do. If you just do the dash speakers it's still a better upgrade. And it should fit your 2018 with no problems
so new speakers dont have "trash cover" like the original? I might add a piece of cloth over the top to keep out the bugs and random debris that may find its way there.
Hi there bro, i bought a pair of Kickers Dsc350(3.5") for my jeep gc 09, appears as recommended to upgrade, do you disconectn the battery of your jeep when u did it? i affraid to install it, also the kickers i bought are coaxial, so im changing the tweeters for the coaxials
Does your Jeep Renegade have the Beats audio package? I was told by a local installer that I was limited to aftermarket speakers because of the Beats Audio package and how the speakers are configured with the tweeters or something of that nature? Does anyone know any truth to this claim? Thanks in advance.
Great video!! Did u ever find out if it was the door speakers or the dash? I know u said dash replacing didn’t make much difference. I’ve the same issue 😬
I think I figured it out. Its kind of weird but I can only hear it when I play music from my phone through BT. When I have my sirius radio going I never hear it. So I'm boiling it down to bad music download/ audio.
@@AdventureGT the rams have notoriously had issues with their Bluetooth modules!! likely that. try that same song via bluetooth on a good speaker and its likely fine. This is a great upgrade. I did the same in my ram 2500 but went with Kicker in dash and doors. Factory speakers are just turds.... lol
I'm completely speaker stupid but trying to learn. So the dash ones are midrange, which is the mid and bright end of the sound wave. If they are not the right ohms (I think...like I said, don't really know anything), you have to turn the music up volume up to hear the bass through the door speakers, which is too loud for the mids in the dash and you end up with distortion in mids trying to get a balanced sound. Turn volume down lose bass completely, but mid distortion goes away. So what to do? So...you get this "crossover" or "bass breaker" (another component, wired in line to + on speaker) and boom! Balanced sound...rich bass, clear mid and highs. Some sort of capacitor that give you the right ohms? I don't even know number you are supposed to shoot for... Meh, anyway. Stereo stuff is complex.
Usually when switching speakers around you wanna stay close to stock numbers, especially if your not changing out your head unit. You could have some expensive speakers put in but your head unit won't be able to keep up. Change put your head unit and you'll have a whole new numbers game. I recommend looking into Crutchfields website, they're very knowledgeable with all there stuff.
I installed the JBL club 322f to my Rav4 dash and I get sound distortion at high volumes when the bass kicks in. I don’t know why that’s happening. Is it the speaker themselves ?
It might be the wires. I was told with some cars you have to reverse plug in to the speakers. That will require cutting off the connector and switching them around. Try that first
I know you must have mentioned this in a different vid, but I thought (for some reason) ...I guess I assumed ...that your Jeep was a '17. What year is it? I noticed that your stereo setup is different than mine...I have a '17. Maybe it's aftermarket?
I'll be honest with you. I'm not sure if it was the speakers I chose but I'm not getting a whole lot more bass. It's definitely louder and clearer but it's still missing some bass.
@@AdventureGT sorry, I have one more question. For the door speakers you use no amp, too? Is the max volume still loud? Thanks for your time man. Best regards from Germany!😘

My door speakers on the front where the first to go. And yes, it was a heavy distortion before it went completely crap.
That's how it starts unfortunately

Aw bummer, I can hear it all the time. Radio or aux, it’s always there but good to know the dash speakers didn’t solve it

They are definitely an upgrade from the stock speakers
