Thanks for keeping it real and showing us not just the highlights. She definitely flooded.
A couple of pro tips for those watching who may be interested in the SmartCarb:
Leave the choke warning sticker in place until you're ready to start the bike. It'll help remind you to leave it open during the initial filling process and for any subsequent filling-from-empty scenarios. The SC2 is a sealed system and we want to let the air in the float bowl purge out slowly rather than quickly. Having the choke open helps that air to purge out and is required only when filling from empty. No need when simply turning the fuel on for a ride.
Tap on the carb while it is filling to help the floats settle in.
Use the included in-line fuel filter to see the fuel flowing. When starting for the first time it's advised to fill the float bowl and then turn the fuel off at the tank petcock once filled or when the fuel flow slows/stops in the filter. Only turn it back on once the engine is running. If the bike is hard starting we don't want to continue adding fuel to the cylinder through continuous turning over or kicking, which can lead to loading up and exacerbate a flooding scenario. Plug checks for fuel are advised.
Always turn the fuel off at the tank after a ride and especially when putting it up overnight or transporting the bike. We don't want the full head pressure of fuel in the tank continuously bouncing on or applying pressure on the float system. Doing so will prolong the life of the float needle seat o-ring and ensure no flooding incidents occur.
At the end of the ride we recommend turning the petcock off before getting off of the bike. Leave it idling with the fuel turned off for as long as it takes you to pull your helmet and gloves off. That will run the bowl down a little bit. Then kill the engine. That'll make for very easy starting the next time you're out. Start it before turning the fuel on.
Leave fuel in the bowl unless putting the bike up for a very long time, in which case removing and fully cleaning the carb is advised. Use stabilizer if the bike will sit for more than a few weeks and drain it through using the drain screw before re-filling with fresh (choke open). Draining the bowl empty and leaving it like that can cause float stickiness.
Keep the fuel clean, keep it off while not riding, stay up to date on maintenance with an annual cleaning with hot, soapy water, carb cleaner, and compressed air, and a rebuild every 2-3 years with replacement service parts (included in our rebuild kits).
Flooding is a result of loss of float control either due to fuel short circuiting (in this case), debris in the float needle/seat, stickiness, or worn service parts in the SC2. Check-valves in the internal vent passages prevent fuel flow through them and are intended for short-term flooding protection either upright or when laid over, but fuel can still flow unchecked past the metering rod, albeit slowly. If allowed and exacerbated by repeated kicking, well, we can see in this video what can happen. Kincade, how do you fit that leg into pants? 🤣

Thank you so much for going into detail on these steps, and once again, I'm kicking myself for not following instructions properly! There are so many things to keep track of as a build progresses, and I should have been more attentive to the requirements of this carb, especially given it was the first start. Thank you for spending the time to walk me through the fix and I'm thrilled to have the bike running. Can't wait to see how she runs when properly tuned and ready for the first rip!

my favorite thing on the bike isn't the bike itself but the care and wisdom you put into it, it honestly looks like it could not have been done any better. I would be thrilled to get the air filter kit although i do not need it, i ride and am restoring a 1983 RM125 and your videos teach me so much about bikes i might not have known and really help with my project. Great job on the bike!

I recently discovered Zep Citrus Degreaser (I got it at TSC, I think it's available at HF as well) and I was blown away at how quickly it cleaned up my "new to me" 2006 WR450! Soak, let sit, then rinse off.. YEARS of grunge came off with no scrubbing! A second round, rinsed off with a cheap battery powered pressure washer and the bike was almost as clean as new :)

When you run into a problem and now have to figure out a way to resolve it even if it takes multiple tries, sometimes you got to think outside the box and be creative. Kincade 1 tip, the put the chainlock facing the tire. Looks a lot better when a black spot is not just for the whole world to see in a brand new gold chain.

The beauty of the cone pipe.
I wonder how that pipe would work AFTER hydro forming to shape the cones better.
    More power or less.
I sacrifice a pipe to test that on a dyno AND the track.
