Don’t wear cowboy boots in Nashville, that is a 100% sign you are a tourist. If you are in a more rural county though then boots are everywhere
In small towns like Paris a lot of people wear boots lol
If you are in Southern California and it is lower than 65°F complain that is freezing and wear a big jacket
and panic when it rains.

The roads are mostly cleared off though right or....if you mean ice there are snow tires which if you rent a car might come with that.

Ugh same for any southern state. I’m a Carolina girl and i swear on my life i saw this lady (had a thick mid western accent before) talk to a waitress in a very southern way. The waitress obviously noticed and it was hilarious watching her try not to cringe. It’s only happened once but it better not be happening again. It made me cringe lmao

I mean don't get me wrong I love a good slice of key lime pie myself, but that's more of an indulgence lol. We're a little more than just that in our everyday life. Best thing to do in Florida is to go to a restaurant with outdoor seating and good _live_ music.

if you’re visiting california, it’s really easy to tell who’s a tourist, but to fit in, literally wear jackets in 80° weather. also talk about how you never know if it’s an earthquake, or something else like a train

I have family in Texas and they don’t own a cowboy hat!!! My uncle is more involved with the Native Americans and he goes to powwows all the time and he plays the drums that they dance to my youngest cousin competed in Native American dances and custom made all of his outfits

For reference we never abbreviate California unless it's "SoCal" (Southern California) or "NoCal" (Northern California). Though honestly I very rarely hear "NoCal" most people just call it Northern California.

Also, a good thing for Hawai’i is always respect your elders. I know it seems like a rule that should be applied everywhere, but especially here.
In Southern California, you’ll fit in by complaining about the weather and/or complaining about your commute.
Same as NorCal, 99.9% of the time we will complain how cold it is if it's anything less than high 60s, and if it is summer we complain about how hot it is LOL and talking about the traffic and how much we hate it is always an ice breaker, it's usually a daily conversation

The “ope” thing is so exaggerated, as is the whole obsession with ranch dressing.
If you really want to fit in in the Midwest, learn the art of understatement. For example, someone asks you how your day is going. If it’s going well, say “not too bad” or at most “pretty good”. Or on the flip side, if it’s going bad, even if it’s the worst day of your life, say “ehh, been better”
For Southern California, if it’s anywhere below 75 degrees, wear a jacket and wish it to be summer. Anywhere above 80 degrees, complain that its too hot and wish it to be winter.
*The real answer to Ohio is if someone says "OH!" to you you have to say "IO!" back, it's like "Marco" "Polo" except the rule applies at all times.*
For Arizona, I’ve noticed not a lot of people around suburban Phoenix don’t wear bright colors. When I moved here, me and my family definitely stood out in the crowd. People just like to wear dark colors, it’s trendy here.

I was exchange student in Wisconsin last year. I'm coming back summer this year. I've been in Chicago as well. I have relatives there. It's nice. I wanna go back. But I want to see more outside of Chicago. So what can you recommend?
