- Since the Miraculous London Special, my mind has just been swirling with ideas and fresh plot points for the future of the show. I honestly haven’t felt this excited about the show’s prospects in a long time. So today I wanted to dive into another direction I think the show is headed in. Now I know a lot of you with think I’m on both hopium and copium combined, but I genuinely believe it. That Marinette has actually made a consequential mistake where she isn’t in the right. Revolutionary I know, and you may question due to her clear favouritism by the writers, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned above all else. The one thing that the writers value even above Marinette. The drama. The drama will just be too good to resist. Trust me, listen to what I have to say. I might just convince you.
Lila exposing Ladybug's lie about Gabriel would be such a good parallel to her first appearance when Ladybug exposed her lie about being friends

Yeah, people complained in the finale, that it didnt do anything with Monarch being adriens dad, and didnt resolve plotpoints and whatnot.
They are getting to that, we Just have to let them cook.

But after 5 seasons of plot holes and basically return to square one in S5, I don't belive in this. They ruin this, like many things in plot.
I want to see the awkward conversation between ladybug and cat noise about the real villan being Gabrielle.

and how was season 5 a "return to square one" exactly? after 4 seasons of maintaining status quo with filler-esque villain of the week-stories, they finally changed the formula in season 5, by putting monarch on borrowed time within 24 hours of him getting the miraculous, ending the love quadrangle between marinette and adrien by finally making them a couple, decreasing the stupidity of the in-universe characters, so characters like the mayor cant just do whatever without consequences anymore (which was really unrealistic in the first 4 seasons), and many other things, that shook up the status quo, so its not a return to square one in the slightest, aside from reducing the number of heroes back to two. Which was NOT a bad move, as many of the miraculous had powers, that could just one-shot the villains if used correctly, and which the good guys should have used much earlier. Gabe may be the posterchild for smoothbrainedness, but he got more mileage out of the miraculous than the good guys ever did. Rooster+Bee for example.
If this ends up being the right choice with zero consequences I'm walking out on the spot.

After watching the special, I think the truth will ultimately get out and people will be angry, but Adrien will still believe that Marinette did the right thing. I don't want that but I think it's highly possible.

I love when stories do plot points with moral ambiguity like this. It's easy to say that we would tell Adrien the truth as observers looking in, but I think anyone would struggle in her position. Telling someone their abusive father was a hero is awful, but finding out that they're actually the supervillain that's been terrorizing innocent people for months, while also cranking up their abuse as a result, and the closest thing they had to a replacement mom being a willing accomplice who only stopped because their life wasn't saved would make anyone have a nervous breakdown, especially for someone so young and barely made peace with his mom's death. There's also the fact that he accidentally played a hand in his deteriorating health near the end of his life. I'm totally expecting an eventual Chat Blanc 2.0.
Realistically speaking, Adrien would more readily accept that his abusive, cold-hearted father was a magical terrorist than Marinette's obvious lie.

If he knew his father was the villain and the magical terrorist, that means he is now safe from his abuser and so is the world. For now anyway.

It’s definitely gunna bite her in the ass, and let’s be honest Natalie didn’t want to go to jail because for Adrien and for her. Knowing ladybugs true identity, Nathalie is the only adult that isn’t involved with the temple knows
With Natalie knowing, it does change things. Marionette has an adult to talk to and help if she needs it. Natalie might be able to cover for her if she needs to fight a villain or Natalie might have to wield a miraculous again.

If there's one thing I've learned from this show it's that (except for the first season finale) every season finale what promises to change the status quo... then they chicken out and everything goes back to status quo.
Marinette kissing Adrien in Hero's Day? All is forgotten.
Everyone's identity revealed, and Adrien and Marinette starting relationships with other people? It doesn't last long and Kagami and Luka are demoted to less than secondary, even Chloe's betrayal is mentioned as casual and barely mentioned again.
All the tension between Chat Noir and Rena Rogue? Or Felix betraying everyone by stealing the Miraculous? Meh.
True. The Miraculous Writers have shown time and time again that they have absolutely no idea how to write long-term plot-lines-hence why they always stick to the old and tired villain-of-the-day format. There’s never any time for the major plots to develop because we’re always spending half an episodes on the Akuma being set-up and then on the Akuma Attack.
And with how little of a character that Adrien has had since Season 5 began, I doubt he’ll be mad for more than a few seconds if he ever learns the truth. I predict that Marinette will just start crying and acting like the victim, and Adrien will put aside his own feelings and comfort her. Because she matters more than he does to the Writers.

@@Doomzdeh the writers dont think as much as the fandom, they call this a kids and episodic show, meaning there is no actual input to show as kids wouldnt get that deep.(even though the main audience are teens that are nearly adults or the adults themselves that have been growing up with the show) there are really many plot holes,(the scenes main comment said and more) and well, they dont care enough to fix it. as for adrien, thomas casually said in one of his tweets that adrien is a ken to marinette's barbie(ken is just there to model a boyfriend/crush/love interest to barbie), also he says that why cant a girl(marinette) be superior? must it be boys or smth like that(he implies feminism wrong lol) by that,they make a clown out of adrien/chat noir, make him do smth stupid or reckless just to prove ladybug is the smartest of all and doesnt need anyone by her side.(even though adrien/ cn is protagonist and his powers or his character is equal to marinette/ lb) so yeah, i agree with you, most likely they will shove adrien off again and call it a day

I just remembered Ladybug directly lied to all of Paris in the press conference. Imagine the chaos that happens when they find out she lied.
Edit: Even WORSE, probably the entire WORLD. They were affected, and she lied to THEM to. It's Ladybug vs The World at this point.

Nah, imagine the chaos that happens when they realize that they built a giant memorial to Monarch, a Terrorist who wreaked havoc on people’s emotions and well-being, in the middle of their city.
3:40 I have to say though that it’s not entirely wrong to blame Su-Han for that failure too. He is the grand guardian but he chose to leave the box with Marinette YET as the ADULT he chose to NOT teach this CHILD how to be a proper guardian. He didn’t teach her anything even though he is the adult and technically the grand guardian so it’s his job to make sure the guardians ranked below him do a good job. But he didn’t nothing to ensure that. He left Marinette to figure everything out on her own. She is a child yet he left that responsibility in her hands and expecting everything would go right. And Marinette has 2 conflicting roles. The guardian role and the role as Ladybug. Yes technically she needs to know who Cat Noir is because she is the guardian but because she is Ladybug she cannot know because it leads to problematic consequences which lead to the villain compromising her for example which leads to the compromising of Cat Noir too and that’s an issue because then the villain gets their hands on both jewels. In order for her to learn Cat Noir’s identity she would have to give up her role as Ladybug or she has to retrieve the Butterfly Miraculous first. I don’t feel like those 2 episodes were good examples to show us why Marinette is treated as right even when she fails. Because it is acknowledge that she failed but she’s not the only one who is at fault for those particular failures.

I mean, both Furious Fu and Ephemeral have Marinette tell Su Han essentially that she doesn’t need him and she can handle things on her own, and on the surface she seemingly does, so he does back off. He only came stepped in in Ephemeral because he thought she was being too reckless, but she told him off for meddling.
Su Han is objectively right in every one of his appearances, but the narrative doesn’t want you to agree with him because that means Marinette is wrong and he we can’t have that.

Su-Han should have demanded a Miraculous and he should have used it to track Gabe down. As an adult, he could use the power as often as he wanted. I wager that the Rooster or the Goat would be most useful to him, but we can’t have that because every sucky side character in this show needs a Miraculous.
I thought that he had realized that in the Season 4 Finale. He seemed to blame himself for what happened. He had been treating Marinette like his equal when she wasn’t at all. I still wonder if he knew the circumstances that led up to her becoming Guardian-her leading Hawkmoth to Fu, her entrusting Chloe with a Miraculous multiple times, etc.
Instead, Su-Han doubled down and left Paris entirely in Season 5. What a joke of a Guardian. Fu kept relatively tight leashes on Ladybug and Chat Noir and this worked for 3 seasons, and Su-Han can’t even keep things together for 1 season. And this guy had the nerve to criticize Fu?
@ I agree that he should have demanded to at least be more involved, but that would require the show not put everything on Marinette and we can’t have that because everything needs to be put on her, she is the only character of importance. Marinette is the main character, therefore she is the one who is always ultimately responsible and right in the end, even if she makes mistakes, the narrative will alleviate her all wrong doings and anyone who offers her any opposition is demonized, like Su Han, he is right that a child shouldn’t have the miracle box, that children shouldn’t have miraculouses, that she as the guardian should know who Chat Noir is, and that he trusted her to keep the box safe and she failed. But everytime she always claps back with, I know better than you because we have been fine up until this point, leave us alone old man! It frustrating.
@@Doomzdeh "Entrusting" Chloe? What are you talking about? Marinette was neglectful and distant with Chloe throughout Season 3, not so different from what she later did with Chat Noir in Season 4. Even in "Miraculer" she proved that Chloe was worthy of being Queen Bee, but Marinette denied her.
I just can’t wait to see how Lila will use her information she got from the book against ladybug. The whole plot for season 6 has a good start with everything from the London special. I just can’t WAIT!
It's insane how far this show has progressed, it doesn't even feel like a kid show anymore lol. I got into the show late around 2017-2018ish I was like 10 or 11, now I'm older than Marinette 💀

One problem I have with this is that it barely connects to the pool party scene in the season 5 finale where she seems totally different, happier and not at all sorry for lying to Adrien since she finally has her trophy boy than the emotional mess she was in the London special. Heck, we don't even see Marinette comforting Adrien, but Kagami, while we see Ladybug (again) making excuses to Chat Noir to hide secrets; which by this point already did irreparable damage to each other.
That was Just a flash Forward to an arbitrary Point in time, to end the finale with. They could have Spoiler the Special instead, but who would want that? Its kinda Like adventure time, when the lich tried to Wish for the extinction of all life, and it jumped straight to farmworld Finn chilling, without any explanation.

I'm really hoping Marinette's lie ends up exposed at some point in season 6. It could be interesting to see how the city of Paris reacts to finding out what their beloved hero hid from them.

If ladybug does tell catnoir, yes adrien would be devastated, speechless even, but maybe understands where ladybug is coming from by trying to protect adrien
I would say that Marinette's decision to lie has put her in a position where a proverbial sword is hanging over her head by a thread that Lila is now waiting for the right time to cut and have it drop on her.
The decision also makes it seem like Gabriel still managed to get the last say of manipulating the narrative his way with the puppet being Marinette.
So now things seem like a calm before one big storm that will eventually hit.
Lila who is known for being a liar, now holds the truth and moment she strategically uses will critically reverse the roles of Marinette now being the and Lila being the honest one which may temporarily sway citizens to trust the new Hawkmoth in a way over trusting Ladybug.
The fact that she lied as Ladybug would make very emotional Parisians and the world wonder if Ladybug was complicit in Hawkmoth's actions and will diminish the trust they had in her.
Plus, this decision probably won't make things easier for Adrien as while people would have been mad if she told the truth in the first place, it probably would have had a higher chance of dying down sooner.
However, now with each day that the lie carries on the emotional weight and effect the lie carries will grow, when Lila eventually reveals Marinette's lie, it will have a worse reception than telling the truth early on would have had.
It won't just be the weight of the fact that Gabriel was Hawkmoth|Monarch, it'll be the weight of that plus the fact that Ladybug willingly lied to people about that fact for who knows how long depending on when Lila reveals it.
This will make some people believe that both Ladybug and Adrien were complicit in this making the fallout much worse.
Let's not even mention how Adrien's going to react to finding out that he's been grieving and trying to honour his enemy and abuser and worst off is that his partner just let him.
Yes, the special did a wonderful job expressing the black, white and greys in the complexity of Marinette's decision, but no matter how you look at it, this decision is just doomed to blow up in Marinette's face in one of the worst ways possible regardless of how much plot armour they give her.

With seasons 4 and 5 establishing Alya as a backup Ladybug, the stage is set
I think it’s important Marinette has these flaws. Marinette and Gabriel actually have a LOT of parallels. Gabriel was a start up fashion designer just like Mari, his family was in the food industry like Mari, they both fell in love with a blonde haired green eyed person who comes from an oppressive family and was way above their station. It’s implied that Gabriel used to be like Marinette, now he’s selfish, obsessed and power hungry with a lot of bad qualities which are qualities you do see an ounce of in Marinette from the beginning of the show- she’s obsessed, and almost forces her moral views and opinions which can be viewed as controlling.
It’s important they both parallel each other as the respective protagonist and antagonist of the show. Marinette is what Gabriel still could have been like if he hadn’t let his bad qualities get ahold of him, just like Gabriel is what Marinette could be like if she has no-one to check her impulses and bad qualities.

The Miraculous Masking might obscure details about the Holder, but I’m pretty sure that people can still tell that Ladybug and Chat Noir are most likely minors (or, at the very least, below the age of 20).
What you said about: "Cat Noir being made a fool and weak so that LadyBug can swoop in and do everything, making him look weak and less competent in comparison" made me think about what someone else said, and I think it might be true.
This show tries it's hardest to have what media would call a "Strong Female Character". But it ends up failing in an interesting way.
All they are doing is making the male character "Dumb" or "Weaker" in comparison to the Female character instead of making her strong on her own.
I think most of us forget Marrinette is fourteen...she didn't ask for this and is human she's going to make mistakes. I'm just glad the writers and animators seem to be taking this show more seriously.
Yeah ofc she but she going about all the wrong way instead of trusting others to help. She think it all on her which makes her the dumbest hero when she got back up but don’t use because she afraid of losing then but that the point of being a hero can’t handle it pass to someone else. That the problem she got used to power she have even though it does cause her pain it most thing that makes her alive. This lie is like going to bit back no matter what choice she makes, she already make the worst decision by lie about Adrien’s father. No what you can’t say Mari is not blind by love for Adrien to see that it will actually hurt him for her to keep this a secret. It don’t have be a secret for the whole world to know but just the person you care should at know his father was a monster. No one is asking Mari to bring perfect but they are asking her to be human and do the right thing even if the person you love end up hating for it
It would be so funny if Lila is only hype in this special and then she is just Gabe 2.0 for the rest of the show.

Like remember Felix's gadget from Risk? Adrien picked it up and nothing came from that.
Getting a season 6 or 7 episode called Timetagger 0 would go so hard
Guys. I think there’s a few things that y’all should be taking a bit more into account.
1. At this point, they know that the butterfly miraculous is in the hands of someone worse.
2. Marinette knows that Adrian is a senti, and thus Akuma for him is far more dangerous. If it infects the wrong item, it could very well wind up killing him.
3. If the world knew right now, there’s a number of things that would make this extremely dangerous.. for one, it would make the whole city heck the world for the matter primary akuma fodder with that much anger and disgust.
4. And the thing that I think people should be taking the most into account! ADRIEN! Best case scenario, if people knew that his dad was the magical terrorist, threatening the whole DM world? He would be a social pariah. He would be under a microscope from the perspective of damn near every single person.
Worst case scenario? His actual life could be in danger! People have done terrible things to the families of criminals even when they had nothing to do with what happened.
I don’t think Marinette was in the wrong necessarily. Do I think it was the right call to make? Maybe, maybe not. But at the same time, she’s a kid trying to do her best in a very, very shitty situation, and never forget the fact that she basically got emotionally blackmailed by Gabriel.
Cut her some freaking slack.
Actually I think Mari's biggest mistake was uniting Chloe with her mother. It was that that ended Chloe's redemption arc prematurely and drove Chloe into Lila's hands. Still I suppose it could be said Mari was setting up Lila's defeat. Lila treats everyone including the Kwami's as tool. I don't see Chloe treating Noorro like Lila does.
This special got rid of most the disdain I had for the finale - most of it is spent on Mari debating if her choice was correct which was absolutely needed. The scene where she tells Adrien that his father is gone and only tells "half the truth" is so heart-breaking for both characters. Mari feeling like she has to lie, and Adrien breaking down and trying to piece together how his father could be gone. One of the last lines they say is that they're going to fight together "like old times", I'm taking this as the writers (Astruc is hardly involved with S6 onwards from what i've read...FINALLY) stating that LB & CN will be fighting together again. Maybe CN won't be sidelined all the time now... I miss his sassy quips.

This special episode was crazy. Though it did clarify so many of our unanswered questions from the previous finale. I’m honestly struggling to recover from what I just watched. Oh, and Lila is a TERRIFIC VILLAIN. I’m bloody scared.
I’m always torn hearing criticism about Marinettes character in like the first two seasons. You have to remember, this was a show meant for kids before they added lore to it. She didn’t need to be a well rounded flawed protagonist, because the show was entertaining 7 year olds. In the later seasons though, that does change.
@smartypants I JUST REALISED, LILA HAS PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING (including the crypt) with Emilie’s body, the ring, the contract with Tomoe, everything! If she were to turn the public view and frame ladybug as a liar, she would have EVIDENCE too! What if in the season 6 finale, the whole world turns against ladybug (including chat noir and the team)
Honestly I think what may become one of the worst aspects of the London special(and by extension the Paris special) is the fact that they’re good. Because if season 6 turns out disappointing I feel as though this special may become soured in the fandoms opinion. It becomes another example of what miraculous could have been.
So here’s to hoping that the special was a sign of things to come and not the exception
To be fair, Marinette wasn’t wrong about Su-Han. He literally didn’t provide any aid whatsoever in Akuma Attacks or in tracking Shadowmoth. He’s done nothing. He could’ve taken a Miraculous to use to fight alongside Ladybug and Chat Noir (he’s an adult and could use the power as much as he wished, plus he has a fighting style to use against Akumas), yet did nothing instead.
Su-Han calls himself the Celestial Guardian, and yet he left every responsibility in the world to two 14-year olds. There’s really no denying that, though Marinette was responsible for the rise of Monarch, Su-Han definitely was too.
Heck, do you know who the perfect person to have given the Dog Miraculous in the Season 4 Finale was? Su-Han! He apparently lives far enough away from the main urban areas that he likely wouldn’t have been touched by Risk. He has experience with the Miraculous and could’ve provided a great amount of aid against Strikeback. Instead, since he barely helped at all, Marinette didn’t think of him and Felix got the Miraculous as a result.

I can't be excited cause i'm still bitter about how season 5 ended. We wouldn't need the lodon special if the wtiters had just included Adrien IN THE FINAL BATTLE.
How would including Adrien mean that the London Special wouldn't exist? Lila finding out their identities and finding the butterfly miraculous and making her wish could still happen. Adrien being there wouldn't change much.

You do realize that if Adrien were included in the final battle, then the London special wouldn't have happened, right? Neither would Gabriel's Wish. Nathalie would still be dead, and Gabriel would've still died anyway due to the cataclysm. Adrien would literally have no one left and he won't understand why. If Adrien found out everything in the Season 5 finale, then there won't be any plot for him in season 6, and a lot the foreshadowing we received throughout the seasons would be for nothing. Also, the events that occurred during the finale were things that NEEDED to happen at that particular time. There simply isn't enough time in a single 2-parter for Adrien to unpack and process everything. That would be too much at once and it will feel emotionally rushed. Adrien will find out everything eventually, but right now, that in itself is the new major plotline of the show moving forward. People need to stop saying that the London Special was made to "Correct" the "mistakes" in writing that the Season 5 finale had. The London special serves as an EXTENSION to what we were left with at the end of season 5, and it also paves the way for the show's new story arc to begin. Secrets and Lies has been confirmed to be the major theme for season 6. Let's just wait and see how things play out, the writers know what they're doing.
@sliced_oranges.128 i completely agree you couldn't deal with the emotional fallout of Adrien finding out in just a 2 parter, but considering the london special acts as an epilouge to season 5 and doesn't fully resolve things, the show could've just as easily revealed the truth to Adrien in the finale then used season 6 to really dive into the fallout. It would make just as good a teaser for season 6 as what we have and would imo better pay off the fact Adrien is related to the villain.
Does anyone realise the fact that the amount of plot armour that the characters will have will be insane because bunnyx will always be there to stop anything significantly bad from happening so we always know that the good guys will win ?

Marinette could totally pull the card, "You guys idolized him, buying merch and valuing his opinion, therefore I didn't want your world to be shattered," to the people of Paris, which would render this irrelevant. Given this show's record with its fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised if the writers just went with it.

We need a series of episodes in season 6 where cat noir/adrien finds out the truth about who he really is and what his father did. Resulting to a crash out (or him being a more deadlier version of chat blanc) that will get out of control until there is some reconciliation.
The London special episode where the action doesn't really take place in London and which is probably the least special of all the special episodes because originally it was supposed to be a double episode to conclude season 5.
It would probably have been much better than the rushed ending we got as a finale, but anyway.
For me the episode seems to prepare two important things:
- Probably Adrien's discovery that he not only lost his father but also that he is mostly responsible for it when he used his power on Monarch's arm!
- the collapse of the united miraculous league when Ladybug's lies come to light.
I think what would be cool is if Lila reveals the secret and then we get like a civil war kinda thing where Cat Noir makes his own team with some of the other heroes agreeing that Ladybug shouldn't have kept it a secret. Like they won't be against each other they'll just work separately
Sorry to disappoint you, but remember that they always save the best writing for the specials.
I mean, in the Paris special was the only time Monarch was intimidating...whereas in the series he was humiliated by a bunch of kids.

With season 3 she started to have PTSD in season 4 (Especially part 2 of the season, Chat Blanc travma) And Marinette wanted to protect him from getting akumatized. She's not only overwhelmed but also keeps lying to people she loves. And now that she knows that Gabriel was Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch,
She doesn't know what she should do. And Gabriel Agreste is Adrian's father.
Btw, I also think that Adrian will akumatized as well, because he discovers the biggest secret of his father, which Ladybug keeping it as a secret.
He will be denial and akumatized as Chat Blanc for real. Ladybug and the other heros will defeat Chat Blanc, however Adrian will break up with Marinette after that.
And that's the perfect motive for Panic (Akumatized Marinette) her fears are now real and she's alone and more overwhelmed than ever. She keeps blaming herself and depression, now that her biggest fears has happened. I think she will use her fears for beating the heroes, including Chat Noir. As Panic.

The funny 😆 part of the special is that Lila basically gave herself the power to time travel and later the power of a ghost 👻. I mean it was fun to watch the butterfly 🦋 miraculous be used in such a way instead of just giving someone who would probably mess up.

I could see Lila making a villain that exposes lies in an up in your face method that causes people to act irrationally and violently turn on someone. Kind of like cancel culture on social media. However, the villain not only grows more powerful by the pain he or she causes but openly mocks that person’s pain and sadness while doing it to add insult to injury. Basically, imagine a sensational journalist with the personality of Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen. That would be such a terrifying villain and it would be even better if the villain did the things they do simply because they can.
Even if a movie or special was good, I have no hope for them to deliver a satisfying payoff or any type of payoff in the series.

Right? In rl, she would be hated. What she did is unforgivable. Usagi aka sailor moon is superior as, not only a hero, but as a character as well. You can sympathize with Usagi when she tries to find a way to save the world and Hotaru without having to sacrifice her. It’s not that she’s willing to sacrifice the planet, she just didn’t want to sacrifice anyone. The things she puts herself through in order to find a way to save Hotaru without putting the world in jeopardy makes her a pretty realistic hero. The raw emotional frustration and sadness when she couldn’t power up was amazing because you can empathize with her. What I love about Sailor Moon is that she is a healer but she also punishes the wicked. I love how she goes from bratty and arrogant to selfless and heroic. Even when she can be bratty at times, she’s truly kind.

Just like Rapunzel from "Tangled the Series", Marinette is seen as from jump, right about everything and anyone who calls out her wrongdoings, is wrong. Umm, Felix knows his uncle was Monarch too here. And, since he is currently in a relationship with Kagami I don't think he'll be too happy or thrilled that even her own mother got off scott free with ease here and will even probably return to his old antagonistic ways here to take others like her, or his uncle down from the inside now that he's part of the hero team here and even become an antagonist toward series Ladybug especially when he and Cerise learn about the movie universe versions of everyone there and even use Cerise's blackmail photos against his late uncle and the series version of Ladybug against her to the public here and even against series Cat Noir when Argos and Chrysalis even learn about the once existed alternate Cat Blanc timeline future, the nightmare he's dad imbued on him before, or his mental split personality as him if the writers are going for that as well too here and even use the bunny miraculous to travel back in the past before Fu was even a guardian or accidentally destroyed the temple before and challenge Su-Hun for his occupation as celestial leader of the Order of Guardians, win fairly, and even use their resources as they and his mom please to bring real change to the world so no one else will ever turn out like they did before here. But, that's just my idea here if Felix wins over Cerise's trust for him and his mom before he frees and gives back her miraculous after capturing her and confiscating it without anyone even noticing it once they learn of each other's childhood pasts here first since they share similar enemies with the series versions of both Marinette/Ladybug and Gabriel Agreste here after all. Hey, if anyone in the comments has had actually had a loved one do the things that has lied like Marinette has to Adrien, what happened to your relationship afterwards. I mean, I get if a mom doesn’t tell their five year old that their dad is a drug dealer then I get it, but that situation isn’t really analogous to what’s happening in the show. I also don’t think the ‘she is only a teenager’ argument is going to work since most of the show’s audience are also teenagers, and teenagers like judging each other.
From what I remember Astruc say this is kids show, that's why we had many problem with episode chronology (cuz if kids watch this it must be enjoyable whenever of knowing plot or not)... I get it, it was targeted at younger audience, but they must realise that audience grow with them, and propably realise at S5. Still I think they could do this better, just like MLP 4 gen. They hold to they core but blink to bronies sometimes, to show "hey, we know you watch this too so have this as show of gratitude".
With this show’s track record I’m not expecting much because Marinette is always treated right or at least correct in the end for rash/poor decision making.
This could be nothing, but when lady and cat were talking…when she said “keeping a huge…secret” and on secret it cut to cats face and the look he was giving her…i wonder if the resentment from Adrian was poking through the mask a little bit. Man I hope season 6 cooks like this special
I like to think that everything from season 1-5 was basically the equivalent to the first Jojo story "phantom blood". A bit clumsy, awkward and still sort of getting the hang of it, but had a genuine heart in it. The next one will be its "battle tendency". Believe It or not, but both phantom blood and the agreste arc have far more connections than you think. Reception wise, they're probably the lowest rated (but will still be the most important part to understand the story) as the creators were still like a bit learning to walk with it. Ironically, it happened in opposite ways (the agreste arc started well but began to sour with time while Phantom Blood started sour but improved as time went on. Same goes to the protagonists Jonathan and Marinette and even their relationships with Adrien and erina). Story wise, both feature people of lower and high class finding supernatural artifacts (the miraculouses and the stone mask), blonde deciveful handsome devils abused by their dads before those dad's died from disease (Felix and Dio with colt dying due to using a broken miraculous and Dario dying due to Dio poisoning him), old Chinese men who drove the plot forward (Fu and Wang Chen), innocent nobles (Adrien and Jonathan), characters who were originally poor but became connected with rich people later on and became successful themselves while also being English voiced by Keith Silverstein (Gabriel and Speedwagon), a bullied girl who later became stronger (Marinette and erina), villains who use minions (Gabriel and Dio), a mentor who sacrifices themselves (Fu and zeppelin) and even a bittersweet simultaneous win/lose ending involving the rich characters (Gabriel sacrificing his life to heal Natalie and move on with Emilie by using the wish and Jonathan encouraging erina to escape the exploding ship and rescue a baby at the cost of his life while also keeping Dio detained. Funnily enough, both of those nobles had Hebrew names which might have eluded their fate: Gabriel (גבריאל) translated as “God is my strength,” “God is my strong man,” or “hero of God.” and in his ending, he has literally given the power of god and decided to do something right after so long. Meanwhile Jonathan (יונתן) means "God has given" and throughout the series, we see Jonathan giving many things to various characters: he gave back the doll to erina, he tried to give his help to Dio, he tried to give his best in everything he did, he gave Dio a beating for unconsensually kissing erina, among many things. Most important is that he gave his life in the end to protect erina and the baby so they could escape and live their lives and he could keep Dio detained).

I like to think this and lolirock would put our protagonists Marinette and Iris through a ringer of fear, distress and shock in the next arc but through different ways: Marinette would have that whole "I've seen more than others and I think ot may better stay with me" arc while Iris would face paranoia that she could lose all that's dear to her in the blink of an eye, now that praxina is the villain.

If i were a writer the season plot would be this:
Lila acoumatises sandboy and discovers LBs worst nightmare is chat blanc.
Here plan becomes to make that a reality since if it happens ladybug would be terrified and wouldn't act thoughtfully, and noir wouldn't be a threat .
She would make it a task to discover chat noirs identity, and eventually suceed.
With the help of tomoi she would ruin adriens life and eventually expose marrinette as a lier to him.
She would look like the honest person trying to save him from the evil tomoi, and he'd be looking for someone to comfort him because he no longer trust marrinette.
Thoughts would cross his mind of joining he, but he would choose not to give in.
Lila would send an acouma that would amplifie those thoughts untill it was all he could hear.
With a mix of the pain of his difficult new life, the realisation that his dad is hawkmoth and the betrayal from the one he loved the most he would finally give in.
Chat blanc would then be the villain for the finale (under the influence of lila, so he won't destroy everything).
All the other heros would get absolutely clapped, and ladybug would realise there's no way to beat him.
She sees that the only way to win is to get through to him emotionally, which she finally does through talking about his mother or something (idk).
At the end martinette would ask Adrien if he forgives him and hed say that he forgives her, but he can't trust her and then they'd break up.
There's probably a million plot holes, and this kinda sounds like a cringe fanfic, but still. I hope they go in that direction.
I think Marinette will be the akumatized one, while Adrien will join Lila/Iris as she will be honest with him.

I can see this playing out a few different ways with this secret.
Scenario 1: Lila tells Adrien the truth and he lose complete faith in Ladybug and gives up on being Cat Noir for a few episodes to a season.
Scenario 2: Marinette loses everything when the truth about Gabriel is leaked out, losing the respect of the other holders, the people, and Adrien. Marinette loses her relationship with Adrien and contemplates no longer being the Guardian.
Scenario 3: No long lasting consequences as Adrien is able to come to terms with the truth and accept that Ladybug was actually trying to help him and felt great remorse about failing him.
Scenario 4: Lila tells Adrien the truth in hopes of Akumatizing him. Adrien loses faith in Ladybug. Adrien confronts Ladybug as Cat Noir and forces her to tell him the truth. Adrien hands back his ring to Ladybug and quiets for the time being. Adrien then takes time to learn the truth about his father being Monarch. He then gets help from Bunnyx to see what happened during the final battle between Monarch and Bug Noir. Adrien learns the whole truth and the aftermath, Marinette attempt to save his father and her regrets in failing. Adrien then goes in, after Marinette is venomed, and has a final moment with his father. Adrien then returns back and becomes Cat Noir again. But the wound of what happened is still there.

I respect the heck out of Nathalie for being willing to turn herself in from the get-go. I said this before, I truly think she was a character that the writers had written off as just a henchman in the earlier seasons and only realized her potential down the line and THAT'S when they started writing her with more content. Basically, she was a throw away character that they pulled out of the bin after she had already been on the show. I really like her and wish that they would have given more thought to her character from the beginning.

I can only watch from the sidelines since I been disappointed too many times. The only form of ladybug official content I see now is short clips and reviews that sometimes make me watch the episodes then disappoints me all over again. I think the movie was the only thing I watched fully by myself and felt like miraculous was in a good place.

Every time I watch this show I have to remind myself that Ladybug and Cat Noir are equals. Their miraculous are the only two that are a yin and yang symbol even in the box. The fandom made Cat Noir lesser than Ladybug. The first few seasons were enjoyable because of their dynamic. After that, I just stopped caring. They weren't themselves anymore.
Not fandom but same series itself made him less relevant. You not had him in the S5 finale, you not had him in the last special, show itself is more and more about Mari.
I honestly can't see the proverbial 'shit hit the fan', which may lead to chat disowning ladybug or even the identity reveal, at least on chat's side. This might even result in the most wanted senario (by the fandom) the infamous marinette akumatised arc, i mean, the show would blow up if that happened, as well as the aftermath being a fun concept to deal with i really hope the writers dont get cold feet and really explore all possible facets of this story line and really drive home how marinette is fundamentally against 'lying' tho she is lying to everyone, which would draw lots of parallels

I thought i was done with the show but then i heard this special came out and decided to watch it bcs, who am i kidding? this show is my toxic ex i keep coming back to. I still hate how things went down, but seeing marinette struggle with deciding whats wrong and right, needing the support of natalie, bunnix, and of course cat noir was really interesting. its the kind of internal struggle that weve barely seen throughout this show. I hope this will be kept up in season 6
I think the change in writing might also be representative of a change in methodology. How now the endings are not gonna be clean little tied in the bow packages. But they're going to be in partial wins and back alley deals. This could also be representative of a change in the planned demographic of the show going from being a children's show with everything wrapped up in a bow to messy real world style endings.
There’s no such thing as a right or wrong decision, proven by the Bunnyx’s. All you want is for her to suffer from her choices or to take a risk. But you fail to realize that season 5 was the end of a huge arc meaning she would have to have improved a lot more. Her failures are always involved in the finales or “important” episodes, which is where she’ll always have more room for character development. But in the frequent episodes, she will always win.

"Narrative promise?" At least AG had a tragic motivation. Lila/Cerise, the apparent new main antagonist, has no motivation whatsoever. None. Why does she do what she does? Why is she wholly one-dimensional? What are the bases for her psychopathy? So long as those questions remain unanswered, the emergence of a compelling narrative structure seems highly unlikely. Or perhaps the writers' aim is to induce boredom?

Yeah, I have no faith in this show anymore. Personal opinion, it's just gonna keep repeating the same mistakes and go to shit just at it was starting to get people's hopes up. Just like it did in previous seasons.
The biggest L of the episode (only conceptually) is having to burn a regional special episode to adjust the tracks. I doubt they planned the london special around fixing in the moment backlash.
