Born at 24 weeks Jordyn Grace Beers is a miracle and a warrior. She may be tiny but is mighty in every extraordinary way 🤍
I am challenging grades 5-12 in both the Oxford and Lapeer school districts to create a “Critical Care Card” for parents with children in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or with long-term medical illnesses. While much attention is rightly directed towards the well-being of sick children, it's equally important to recognize the immense emotional toll that such situations can take on parents. They are not only caregivers but also advocates and voices for their children within the healthcare system.
By creating “Critical Care Cards” specifically for these parents, in similar situations as my aunt Jenee, these students will have the opportunity to provide a source of comfort and strength during an incredibly difficult time. My hope is that these cards will serve as a tangible reminder that the parents are seen, heard, and supported by their community. I’m inviting students to write/ include heartfelt messages of support, encouragement, and empathy, along with uplifting quotes, drawings, or even small tokens of comfort. The goal is to provide emotional support and solidarity during challenging times, reminding parents that they are not alone and that their community cares for them and their children.
