I sure hope I AM WRITING TO Teepa!I just came across this video and am so excited. My sister age 86 has some kind of dementia and I saw one of your other videos that included the Language-Music info, so every time I call my sister I always have an old song from our childhood in mind to include. Brings her great joy! I either jog her memory with the title, or a line or two, and she breaks out in song.yesterday I actually recorded myself singing a couple of songs from our youth, then I played the video on my iPad while aiming my cell phone at it while we were on a FaceTime call! What a hoot! We both sang along with it, laughed and laughed.;;it was almost like being in our car on a long trip when we were kids. Back then there were five kids and two parents and we all sang parts….so yesterday we sang "Sweet Violets" a funny one and fairly long. The other was ‘Beer Barrel Polka. I have more in mind… I know there must be a better way for her to play the video but she can’t remember how to find things I send her. Hope you can figure it out to envision it, but it sure was fun. Maybe today I will do "the Bells of St. Mary’s" or "Love’s Old Sweet Song". Thank you so much for your knowledge and willingness to share. I wish I had more time to learn sso I can make her life more tolerable, I am nine years younger than she is but have end stage liver disease (even tho a life-long non-drinker)so she will probably outlast me and that really worries her because no one else seems to understand her much.
Hi, @kethousel, you are not actually talking to Teepa here, but I will make sure that she sees your response. The Positive Approach to Care Team talks with Teepa at least once a week if not more and we always share things with her. I'm going to focus on Oral health this month with my clients, see if we all can get in to better oral health care.😂
I think I wod do better in a pair or group for some hygiene things now that Teepa mentioned it!!! I grew up in sports so lots of locker rooms. I also raised 3 kids so I rarely had the bathroom to myself for forever! Lost the partner thing but still! Genius!

Thank you. I now have more tools to help my sister adjust to Nursing home. She behaves as Diamond. High Energy. I may have to practice these steps.
