    Been a fan of the Roughriders, and the league, since 1988 when I got to see some live while on holiday with my wife visiting her relatives in Edmonton and Winnipeg. Still watching down here in Australia all these years later.

    As a long time BC Lions fan in Seattle who has been to a few games over the years, I have to say the CFL is a good league when it comes to the on-field product. I also like how affordable the tickets are which allows me to bring a few friends to the game something I can't do with other leagues (apart from MLS & USL). The biggest thing that is preventing the league from growing in the US in my view is the media rights deal. The CFL needs to tell CBS to put some games on network TV especially on weekends during the summer in which they are not showing the PGA Tour so that more people who don't have access to cable & CBS Sports Network can watch. Lastly when it comes to CFL+, the league needs to fix the buffering issues associated with the site.

      A true US tv deal would be nice. However, y'all can get every single game for free on CFL+ streaming service. Better advertising of that would help. What is better than free? Ha ha

    I'm glad that I started to watch full CFL games this season after watching all playoff games last season. Every game was a blast... can't say the same about CFL+ as it's not doing great, missed Elks at Argos game and wanted to catch a recording on CFL+ but it lacked 1 and a half quarters... thank god CBS recording was not too hard to find.

    IMO, I think the CFL can serve to be a great offseason league for the NFL fans in the states. I know the league is Canadian focused, as it should be obviously, but there seems to be interest to keep it exposed in the United States and building a fan base in the US. Maybe this is a good thing because the money that comes in from the States will help the CFL in the long run. Sure it might possibly negatively affect the league but at the same time it will help the league maintain itself.
    I feel like in order to do this, the CFL should continue to find ways to get their product out. They are on the right track with streaming. Of course they're competing with other sports like Baseball, Soccer, and even the Olympics so obviously streaming is the best way going forward. So hopefully the league continues to gain some popularity in the United States because I think the fact the league plays in the summer is a relatively good thing.
    Now with that also said I think CFL should do some PR with the NFL. Like maybe during the preseason for the NFL, they could host crossover games. For example The CFL selects a few teams to travel to the US and play a few NFL teams but with the NFL rules and in return the NFL selects a few of their teams to travel to Canada and play a few games with the CFL rules. If injuries are a concern, then the teams can use 2nd and 3rd string players so that way key players don't risk season ending injuries on both sides.

    Yeah, about content... CFL completely missed on the story of Reggie White Jr. He was injured in the home game for Montreal Alouettes against Ottawa Redblacks on October 10th, 2022. And the first game back? Home game for Montreal Alouettes against Ottawa Redblacks. Reggie White Jr scored 2 TDs in his first game back after not playing for 620 days... Come on CFL...

    Let's go Lions! minor gripe: I've always found the name Tigercats silly. It's redundant. Be a tiger or a cat.

    • @teo_heel
      @teo_heel 3 місяці тому

      It's not redundant if you know the history of the team. Tiger-Cats were formed in 1950 when two Hamilton teams merged - Hamilton Tigers (5 time Grey Cup champions in 1913, 1915, 1928, 1929 and 1932) and Hamilton Wildcats (also known during WW2 as Hamilton Flying Wildcats as they had members of Royal Canadian Air Force in the team and won Grey Cup under that name in 1943). The name shows the history.

    Seriously whose genius idea was it to make CBS Sports Network the channel to see it in America. The only main advantage over ESPN is your no longer cut off by NFL and CFB coverage once the Preseason starts but still. I don't think FS1 has any NFL games they air in the fall. I'm sure there would be people interested in a CFL game over a low level Power 4 game or a Group of 5 one. Also why don't any of the Networks have a game on a random Saturday afternoon instead of Golf or whatever they air around then.
