lol... I sure wouldn't mind, but I never set out to create "teaser" lessons. I generate a little money from views, so I'm happy with that. I do have some tabs for sale, but even so I encourage folks to struggle with the videos as opposed to grabbing a tab. Glad you're enjoying the lessons!
Jim Pankey Well, since I got you hear I’d like to say that I think it would be cool if you did a video telling us about you. You seem like a cool dude but you’re mysterious.
You have the best tutorials. Trying to find banjo tutors locally is impossible, but I am getting better everyday with your videos and practicing rolls and learning chords. Thanks for taking your time to make these videos!
Caroline Rose Davis wish me luck I'm just learning to play I love it I all ready play guitar you have got have a love for any thing you play best of luck to you
If there was anybody I could go pick with and have fun while I'm learning itd be you Jim. Thanks for all the material you've put out folks out here like us sure do appreciate it.
A great vid Jim. I’m a two finger drop thumb player and do an alternating roll but go to an Em and just do chords with a few little ditties to sweeten it up. It works great for my weird style but I’m going to add a few of your touches. Thanks Jim!
Merry Christmas to you and your family Jim. 2020 will be a year I will remember, both for Covid and the year I learnt to play the banjo. Thanks for your inspiring videos..
As always - thank you, Jim. One question if that's okay (and I tried slowing it down to make sure I have it right and listening closely), but In the forward and reverse rolls you explain (starting around 2:11), is the THIRD forward and reverse roll in this sequence (the one with the C-chord) a slightly different string sequence - where you pick the SECOND string instead of the THIRD? Is this right? - (slide 2 to 5) and then 4-3-1-5-1-3-4-1 - (one fret up) and then 4-3-1-5-1-3-4-1 (i.e., same as above minus the slide, with the 3rd string as the second note again) - (C-chord, hammer on 4th) and then 4-2-1-5-1-2-4-1 (so NOT the third string, but the second string on this one?)
Thanks enjoyed it. do you have a lesson on plane Bugle Call Rag can you show a simple version how to play that I'm having difficulty Darren Huffman from the Ozarks
Thanks Jim. Loving the wagon wheel, but I'm having a lot of string noise when sliding from 2 to 5 on my wound 4th string...I did not hear that from this video.. what suggestions can you give me for elimination of that.? Thank you
Hey Jim, thank you for helping me on my banjo journey! You are the only reason I know what's what. I am forever grateful. I do have a request if you have the time. I've scoured the web looking for the banjo notes for, Goodnight, Texas // "A Bank Robber's Nursery Rhyme", and have come up empty-handed. It's a fun tune and sounds fairly simple. However, I am having trouble keeping up. Could you teach us how to play it? Would love ya even more- even though I don't think it's possible. Hope all is well!
@@JimPankey I know most just trying to figure out the instrumentals. Most I can figure out by ear just trying to make sure I’m close but his tuning is a little different than most.
That's not one that ever comes up at any of the jams I've ever attended. I know that Flatt & Scruggs did it. I bet if you worked your way through my beginner series you could figure that one out on your own. :)
hello my name is Darren Huffman and I have a request to learn how to play The Bugle Call Rag I was wondering if you have a video out on how to play that always wanted to learn how to play that bugle call on the banjo
It would be VERY helpful to play the FULL song BEFORE you talk. Ive nothing to reference without actually hearing what Im supposed to be doing. You arent the only one that does this I click on a video and there is 10 minutes of talking and I have to root thru the video to actually FIND any playing but because I like your videos I suffer thru it lol
Dude!!! Be polite. I don’t see you creating content. It takes a bit to figure out how this stuff works, but obviously you already know that. Hold on, I’ll fire up the Time Machine and go back in time to fix this. Sorry your fast forward button is broken.

Thank you, Jin, for the whole series. No banjo instructors here in Mid-Wales, so you have been my way into Banjo.
Thanks Jim,..your likely to reach 100k subscribers by years end! Your definitely a favorite.
Thanks. That would be awesome 😎
I love the way you sing the strings and chord slides etc.. makes more sense...
Thanks ☺️
Hi Jim, Really enjoying your UA-cam tutorials.
This man never has a bad hair day

Thanks Jim never thought I would be able to play so much your videos are the best
Glad you like them!
Thank you MR. JIm. I am 14 and have been playing for a year on the 25th and am realy getting to understand. this helped so much it was awesome!
Glad to help!
Great video Jim, I learnt it with alternating rolls and basic chords but yours is much more interesting. Thanks Davy
Glad I can give you something different to add to yours!
Thanks Jim. You’ve shown me a great easy way to play this. Not complicated at all
Glad to help!
Had banjo block for a few weeks then been ill. Finally sat down today and had a lightbulb moment with this one. Yay
Awesome!

Your lessons are great! So easy to follow. Thanks

Thank you so much. That was a great tutorial.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a great demo, thanks 😊
Thanks for watching ☺️
Thanks Jim, I learn more from your videos than any others. I do have a special request, can you please do, Blue Kentucky Girl...Loretta version..!
jim you’re just awesome!
Thanks ☺️

Without looking at the video I’m gonna guess that you’re correct. When playing a C chord it’s nice to hit that 2nd string.
@@JimPankey Many thanks, Jim!
thanks so much for sharing - love your videos.
Done a great job 👍
Thanks
Thank you!! You are a legend!
Thanks enjoyed it. do you have a lesson on plane Bugle Call Rag can you show a simple version how to play that I'm having difficulty Darren Huffman from the Ozarks
Thank you Jim for giving me a version of this song that I might be able to play. And is that 7 boxes with Jonny Walker black or red labal behind you?
Oh my gosh, too funny! You’re talking Jonny Walker and I thought they were law books. Haha
They’re law books
Thanks Jim. Loving the wagon wheel, but I'm having a lot of string noise when sliding from 2 to 5 on my wound 4th string...I did not hear that from this video.. what suggestions can you give me for elimination of that.? Thank you
There's going to be a happy medium where you're holding enough pressure to get a good sound, but no squeak... keep practicing, you'll find it.
@@JimPankey Thanks, will keep going.

Jim could you please make a tutorial on how to play "The Gambler"
That would be so sweet. Do it Jim!
Could you show how to play some of the Ralph Stanley banjo instrumentals 1st one like holiday picking
I have lessons for How Mountain Girls Can Love, Hard Times, and Clinch Mountain Backstep…
Are you looking for a custom lesson?

I play this at the few "kid" gigs. In the key of G, its a simple I IV V tune. The "melody" line is G GG G, D E E D, BB AA G.
Now when I listen to wagon wheel, in the back part of my mind I hear “ forward and reverse... forward and reverse ..... 😊
Seems like decent lyrics... lol
Hi Jim would really like to hear Grandfather Clock in your style
how i slide the 4th string right? it sounds anoying with my banjo :(
Practice... there will be an amount of pressure that’s “just right”.
Awesome
Thanks!
Can you post the tab for wagon wheel? The version in your video. Thank you
I don't have this tabbed. Honestly, with UA-cam's slowdown feature and a little time you can figure this out - no need for a tab.
Hey Jim....haven't seen you since the "Lounge" days.....
Right gonna try and impress a girl with this
This is her favourite song
Good luck!
hello my name is Darren Huffman and I have a request to learn how to play The Bugle Call Rag I was wondering if you have a video out on how to play that always wanted to learn how to play that bugle call on the banjo
Does this work for the chorus and the verses?
Yup!
I can’t find the TAB for this one Jim, have y’all got it tucked away somewhere mate?
Nope.. never bothered to tab it out. You can figure it out though. :)
Jim Pankey you’re probably right, I’ll work on it, thanks mate 🍻
Happy banjo dude has tabs for it, look on his Chanel
Does the index finger go down for a C? Is it 2 strings or 3?
Which sounds better to you?
@@JimPankey well, I like it with my index down, but is that still a C?
Thanks for replying by the way! I have asked a few questions and you've always responded. It's real nice of you!
