Jim - Love the videos, and I’m learning a ton, but I’m struggling with the first section. You’re moving too quick for my beginner fingers and I can’t quite see your fingering on rolls in D and E minor. Mine just doesn’t sound right.
Thanks Jim for the guidance, I’m trying to run before I can walk, I also messaged you on link in so please ignore as this is my only method of social media but still would be good if you could connect, thanks again.
Hey Jim, I am really enjoying your videos. I have been asked to learn this song by the local elementary school music teacher. Do you have a tab available. Thanks for all the great videos!!!
Hey Jim! Really enjoy your videos! I have bought several tabs from you. I'm having a hard time with the 1-4 split in the bridge (2nd string first fret and 1st string fourth fret). Is there something easier that would substitute and sound almost as good? Maybe overtime with practicing I can get it down but for now I'm having the hardest time and it sounds awful!
Take a few days and just work on that chord shape. That's really the first D7 chord I learned. I really hate to give a "cheat", but you could just play the 4th string open.
Would you be able to suggest a banjo book that teaches the finger placement for notes too old to learn tabs I already can read music and have many music books
One thing I have been struggling with on this song and On Cripple Creek is the slide to next string transition/timing. For example on the third string slide should I pluck the third string and then very quickly pluck the second while I'm sliding at the same time? Having a hard time getting the timing down. Thanks!
Stop thinking of it like that. Do the roll. The roll is what dictates when the strings will be struck. Don't mess up the timing of that roll. Everything else comes second.
@@JimPankey thank you! For some reason I wasn't thinking about it that way (overthinking life, like always). That makes a lot more sense now. Thanks again.
Hi Jim, loving learning! But quick question? At end of your Country Roads 'first break', you're throwing in a finger on the 4th 2nd fret I believe, and then on a play through, you end on a 3 slide without the 4th finger, if that makes sense. Just a different 'take' as I see you've presented before?
Do you have anything covering how you finish the song (last 10 seconds or so of the UA-cam video) I tried slowing it down, but it's just so quick! Thanks for all the videos!!
Hi Jim, I am finding the D chord shift in the chorus with my ringer finger a bit difficult (I don't have the longest fingers and keep pressing on the 1st and 2nd strings when coming over on the shift). Do you have any tips to help with this? Really appreciate all the effort you put into placing these videos and tips up.
Really good stuff. I almost have it down, but I keep having some trouble with specific parts, most noticably the hammer-ons in D. I can't really get the timing correct, and I think I lack some strength in my ring-finger so it doesn't really "pop" like I want it to. It doesn't sound too awful, but it lessens the melody a bit. Any tips or pointers how to get it correct? I also really like the outro bit, I would love to learn it. I think I have the descending scale part down soon enough, but the rest keeps eluding me. Slowing the video down helps but at 50% the sound quality drops too much or my untrained ear to be able to properly hear the notes.
Don't get hung up on "correct". You don't have to do it like I'm doing it. I bet you can find a way to get close to the melody with skills you have mastered.
Hi Jim, I am in the process of tabbing this video, I have the first part and over the next week hope to have the rest. Anyhoo, I noticed someone asked for tab and I could send you it in PDF, Midi, ASCII and GPX GP5 (Guitar Pro). It's all for free of course. Do you want me to send them to you so you can distribute?
Jim Pankey Ok, Yesterday I tabbed the verse too, next is the bridge. I will put them on UA-cam so you can see them later. Then I will need an address. I have tooth problems today but will do the bridge tomorrow, probably.
Hi Jim. I'm working on this one as i love your arrangement but I can't get the words to fit on the verse when i play it. I can sing it when you do it, any advise? Many thanks
That constant rewind is how you assimilate the information so you can use it later. You’re training your ears and learning to play - as opposed to just spewing back a string of notes you’ve memorized. Also... UA-cam’s slowdown feature is darn handy.
@@JimPankey thank you sir, just giving you a hard time. Learned your version of John hardy so fun to play. I need to work on my chords as that's what's holding me back here.

These early videos were made for folks that were already playing, and I wasn't super careful about doing everything the same way each time.
Do you have anything covering how you finish the song (last 10 seconds or so of the UA-cam video) I tried slowing it down, but it's just so quick! Thanks for all the videos!!
I do have a tab for it: sellfy.com/wildjimbo/p/28FR/
Hi Jim, I am finding the D chord shift in the chorus with my ringer finger a bit difficult (I don't have the longest fingers and keep pressing on the 1st and 2nd strings when coming over on the shift). Do you have any tips to help with this? Really appreciate all the effort you put into placing these videos and tips up.
It's just one of those weird things... You'll get it.
I kmow this is a older video but can you tell me what roll you are using please..and is this begginer friendly ,,tks
Hello Jim, i can't pay with Paypal, in my country is blocked. Can i pay with credit card?, thanks
We can probably work something out. Shoot me an email to wildjimbo@hotmail.com. Let me know here if you do that so I can go check that account.
Fantastic...is that recording king? 35?
It’s the RK M5
Thanks.
+Mark Jordan thanks Mark. Would certainly love to look at it and possibly make it available to folks.
Jim Pankey Ok, Yesterday I tabbed the verse too, next is the bridge. I will put them on UA-cam so you can see them later. Then I will need an address. I have tooth problems today but will do the bridge tomorrow, probably.
Ok - here is the Verse: ua-cam.com/video/sBSfRm2fr1s/v-deo.html
And here is the Chorus: ua-cam.com/video/o1nDX1HpeJk/v-deo.html
Hello Mark, can you post a .pdf link for the tab you did for Jim's arrangement?
I apologize to my laziness but do you have any videos on adjusting a neck just right
Couple of videos to check out --

Jim, I am just beginning to learn banjo. In surfing the net, I've noticed that many melodies get lost in the rolls and fills.
That's true... especially when beginning. If you're just starting out, stick with my beginner series until jumping into the more advanced stuff.
Happy Fathers Day!
Thanks 😊
Great video! Could anyone tell me what tuning it's in? Having trouble figuring it out and doesn't sound like open G
+METALLICAISHORRIBLE thanks!
it's open G. (gDGBD). :)
Question
I hit the strings on the car getting it out and the y moved the banjo is out of tune
What should I do
The stings shifted
Case
Sounds like maybe you moved the bridge? Should slide back into place.
Should I just reposition the strings or see the repair man
I don’t want to snap anything
(Mrs Sheridan)
@@stephensheridan93 Unless something is broken, and it's just the bridge that's out of place you should be able to straighten that out.
How can i purchase your tabs for this song????

Hi Jim. I'm working on this one as i love your arrangement but I can't get the words to fit on the verse when i play it. I can sing it when you do it, any advise? Many thanks
I'm sure it's just a matter of practice. If you can sing along when I play it I bet you'll be able to do it soon.
@@JimPankey I will keep at it. Thanks Jim
Jim Pankey hello Jim. I don’t do Facebook. How can I order your tab books and the tab for country roads. Thank you. Tom Biller tomabiller@gmail.com
Link to tab is in the description!
I can't understand the bridge, 3-1-5-?-1-5-3-1, help!
Forward roll... but anything works as long as it’s got 8 notes. 31531531
@@JimPankey Thanks Jim
jim, would love this a bit slower more "broken down" you're moving so fast I have constantly rewind and i just cant get it! lol
You’ll get it. It’s worth the effort. 😊
Why doesn't tab have an accent on the melody note?
Because frankly, no one does that. Sounds like you may not be ready for this one yet.
