If the arm is no less than the leg and the eye is no less than the nose, perhaps no one should be salaried to serve. Paul made a rather excellent case against accepting any money. If the church religious system (featuring temple, altar and all the other trimmings direct from the Mother of Harlots in Rome) is set up in such a way that one man must be appointed instead of a group of elders (unsalaried), perhaps the system is not from the Lord.
My father pastored 2 different churches over a course of like 8 or 9 years I believe... His first church was this super tiny old church in the middle of no where and averaged less than 20 people per week... My dad was part of the Assembly of God denomination and they are the ones that sent him to that church... That church was tough and had alot of pastors come and go, but he stayed there like 4 years before going to a little bigger church over an hour away... They averaged around 20 to 30 but attendance doubled and tripled at one point, but he only made 400 a week at the bigger church and had to still do construction full time.
Matthew 21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
Please name 1 example of a new test paid full time pastor. Just 1 person in the new test who received a regular salary (small or large). Jesus? Peter? Paul? John? Anyone?
I think the issue people have is that they “donate” money and want a large percentage to go towards non-administrative expenses. It is the same way people look at non-profits. I listened to a speaker a number of years ago lay out how this this model helps less people but makes the people who donate more satisfied because a high % of donations go towards programs. He argued that paying more for better marketing, executives, and technology (like the private sector does) will lower this % but increase the total amount that goes to these programs. An interesting way to look at it for both charities and churches.
They should work. It is not a career choice. Many are self protecting of a position and the way a church is and try to control every aspect and do everything. The scripture talks about so many other people in the church. Work and the church can aid with the needs because you work less than you could.
Do you think this version/expectation of a lead pastor with unicorn abilities is practical? Seems like a lot of weight for one person to be good at a lot of different things. Maybe breaking that role into multiple roles is more sustainable.
How can it be called ministry when you are being paid so greatly? I mean no one knows what anyone goes through at their job, but pastoral work is ministry right?
@Erick Diaz Then why doesn't the church pay their congregation members who server the church for events, children's church, nursery, ushers, greeters, and so on. Every church I've been too it is expected you give of your time because it's for ministry
@@YuGiOhDuelChannel hmm sorry about that. Not sure. I guess that hasn’t been my experience. Everywhere I have been they encourage us to serve because we are a family and the body of Christ. And God calls us to serve without having alternative motives like getting paid. I always was taught that ministry as being something that we are all called to do every day. Whatever your job is to do everyday, that is your ministry. Whatever God has entrusted you to do everyday like a job, etc. Do a good job, and represent God well in your sphere of influence. Serving is something different that you do as an extra because it brings joy to serve other people.
@Erick Diaz So a pastor isn't serving then, call it what you want. How can it be a "service" when a pastor is getting paid so greatly? Everyone else during the church event, or whatever situation is their of their own charity but the pastor is getting a pay check, you don't see the conflict in that? I mean someone going up to the events deck and sees "we need ushers" and then asking "how much does it pay", everyone would look at him cross eyed, and be like, we are looking for people do it for free, as a service to the church, because we are one body. Why isn't that same standard held to everyone involved with the church, pastors included?
@@YuGiOhDuelChannel I may be wrong but I think it’s because of 1 Corinthians 9. Apostle Paul says that people who devote their whole life to preaching the word and taking care of the church deserve payment. He chose to not do it because he had a side business of being a tent maker amongst other reasons I think. But the chapter makes it clear that Paul believed that it is totally valid for the pastor to receive payment. Pastoring a church 24/7 is waaayyy more responsibility than serving only 1 time or a few times during the week for an average church attendee. You cannot compare the two things. 1 Timothy 5 also talks about Elders and preachers deserving to be paid well.
If pastors/elders are faithful, their delight is to build up the flock, in every way, and put the needs of their flock above their own...Jesus told us how to recognise the greatest -those who minister and serve God's word take the least position, to uphold the weaker. This doesn't mean elders/pastors should live in poverty, but the mentality should be that of Christ, who emptied Himself of His royalty and riches in order to make us rich.
I am a Patreon supporter but I can’t find the full podcast, I am in sales and feel called to pastor and I really want to hear this full interview, where can I find it?
Pastors should get their lazy glutes and go to work. I had three pastors in my life time, and all of them work. My first pastor, Miguel Mendez, served twenty years in the US Army-while serving and pastoring. Till this day 18 March 2024, Mendez, is still alive. The second pastor, Guillermo Tosado, a carpenter and a mason, who worked from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Also, he managed to be a Pastor. The third pastor, Juan Hernandez, worked in a body shop. Pastors in the United States are to comfortable and entitled. Pay me, so I could go to a golf club and play a few holes. Live in a nice house drive an expensive car that they haven’t earn. Thanks to the members of the church.
who’s giving them that? If you want that you can talk to your congregation and the church sponsors if you got any because people who are not attending are not going to pay so you can get that that. Also most churches are open with a pastor there 2 hours a week, you’re telling me 16 hours per month is worth $6,667.00 per month that would put you in the 10%. No congregation and sponsors are going to be willing to pay over $10 a month each, so say you got 100 people attending they all pay $10 at the beginning of each month that gives you $1000 per, I don’t believe in Jesus but I feel he’d agree with me when I say that is more than enough since you’re only working 2 hours per week.

The more structured the church becomes over history the more pastors, deacons etc add traditions and personal likes to their "organization."

Everything is ministry. 9-5 jobs are ministry. Doing everything to the Lord

This type of pastoring, is it a ministry? or is it job? Pastoring is not a job, is it?

What’s with the vendor in the middle of the message.
No more than what Congress makes.
When you have a guest on your show, you really need to let them talk. I'm not trying to be super negative, just an observation
All pastors should be paid at least 80k
