my family and I palyed this last night, we were so confused. Then I watched this and I realized that its pretty simple and my family and I are very dumb. 10/10 would recommend.
Yesterday me and my girlfriend bought this game. The art and description looked quite intriguiging for what looked like a dungeon crawler type game. If you're wondering if the game is suitable for adults (because, admit it, the art fascinated you), yes, it is - I am almost 30, she's 27. Everything in the box is high quality, from the game book, through the cardboard pieces to the miniatures. Can't wait to gather friends next week for a full game. Thanks for the awesome guide ! :)
It so cool that scanning the QR codes in the scenario book takes you to videos made by Rodney. That is so cool, and Rodney completely deserves to be the official go-to for "how to play" videos!
just bought the game based on a dice tower review (gotta love tom vasel). thanks for this extremely well made how to, i feel ready to start right away once we get it’s delivered. you e saved me tons of time bro, THANK YOU!!
The more I learn about this game the more excited I am for it. I always thought it would be fun to play with my niece, but after watching this, I can see having fun playing with my friends too.
Great video. I'm used to D&D, Gloomhaven, and other much more involved RPG style games and there were a lot of aspects in the rule of this game that I found unclear and confusing for some reason. You did a fantastic job clearing them up set not spoiling anything. Great job as always.
Stuffed Fables is an amazing game! I really enjoyed the stories 1 and 2 so far. The dice bag mechanism is really fun! I would totally recommend this game!
Just picked this up from my FLGS tonight and plan on playing it tonight. Great job with the video, I definitely feel a little more prepared. I think I'll watch this one more time before playing and possibly your gameplay video as well. A bit hesitant on that though as I want to avoid spoilers.
Just saw this game at the Games shop, Decided I needed to come check out your video before going back to buy it. Looks like a fun game but a little more involved than I was expecting.
So much fun!!! Highly recommend, especially if you're in tune with childhood sensibilities or have children and want to engage with them. The artwork is adorable, the rules are only mildly challenging for first time gamers (this video will solve all that for you), and it is immersing. Learning the rules beforehand will help that alot, but once you know how it works, it's fluid and cooperative even on other players turns because you can influence each others decisions. I really want some plush figures
Got this game delivered today. We are missing a piece but I contacted the shop and we are getting the missing piece! The game looks AMAZING. Reading through the rules made a lot of sense. Can't wait to play
If you like this, check out "Aftermath" or "Mice and Mystics", they're both book adventure type games like this :) I started with mice and mystics originally, and then got stuffed fables later :)
Just played this with my fiance and her daughter and we all loved it! But we definitely got some things wrong lol One question though. Do all minions, leaders, and bosses have to be one-shot by an attack? For example the Leader Crawlie has 6 defense and I roll a 4 on my attack. Does the crawlie take 4 damage and then only needs 2 more to be defeated? Or does my attack fail?
Hey Zack, you have to roll the target value or higher to defeat a minion (there isn't partial damage - except in the case of a boss - which is tracked with the cloud tokens.). You'll find this covered in the video starting around 12:28.
Explains it so well! Thank you! The instruction manual leaves unanswered questions. I di have one qiestion i may have missed the amswer to. How often do the discarded dice go back into the bag? After each player turn, or after each round (where a round would be all players and minions turns)?
So glad you enjoyed! I don't remember from memory, but I think watching from here: ua-cam.com/video/vwIvQfuCoGI/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=1205 until 21:11 should cover it.
About to start this with my 8yo son. Just watching and rewatching this and the playthrough videos over and over again to try and get the rules to stick. 😅 Once again, excellent video Rodney, love it!
Big, expensive looking production values? Heavy story driven gameplay with choices and consequences? Rolling and collecting sets of colored dice? Yup, this is a Plaid Hat game.
Hey James, thanks for the interest. I avoid doing that, because I really find this sort of things comes down to a player's group, the player count, etc. There are too many factors that I think are unique enough to each play session, that I think my estimations would become a sticking point for viewers who had wildly different experiences.
Thanks for this wonderful video. One question which I don’t think was answered in the video or in the rule book: do you carry anything with you from story to story (buttons, hearts, stuffing, items etc.)? We have been discarding everything at story end, and starting with just five stuffing and a weapon. I’m playing this with my boys. We actually just play a page or so each session rather than a whole story. They are always desperate to play again the next day which is great. Thanks again.
Boss rules.. do they remain activated after they are encountered? I feel like we played this incorrectly. After the encounter, and minion activation, we removed all the black dice and then didn't have the boss attack again until we had placed enough threat to cause a minion attack. I am playing with a 7 and 5 year old and they had fun, but I am really struggling with the rule book not feeling complete! Thanks for any help you can provide.
Sounds like you were playing it right. They will only activate and take a turn when the number of dice on the threat track is equal to or greater than the number of minions on the board.
Thank you so much, I borrowed this game lately to play it with my 8 year old daughter but the german rules are not quite clear enough for me to know what I have to do Now I know, that I can also discard a searched item if I don‘t need or want it It did not mention that the stuffing are the life points, we had to figure that out So we played it a little wrong during first story but now we are ready to take on the next adventure Maybe it is just bad translation or some stuff is mostly clear for players used to dungeon crawlers but I was not, but thought, the game is for 7 year olds, so how difficult can it be - well, turns out there are quite some rules and a good book keeper will definitly enhance the game play with kids
I think i would rather play Stuffed Fables than Mice & Mystics but there is one thing i really need to know: is Stuffed Fables a game for children or can adults have a nice time with this game as well? When i watch the videos or staff interviews of Plaid Hat Games i get the feeling that this is made for kids only so i am a little bit worried that game couln't satisfiy me.
That's not something I can really assess for you, unfortunately. We do have a full play through of the first scenario if you'd like to see if you think it would appeal to your tastes.
I just played this with my daughter last night. It went a little slow since we were learning, but seemed really well designed. After watching this video and searching through the rules, I'm still confused by one thing. When do dice in the reserve get put back into the bag? Is it only after resolving a combat encounter? Do dice get returned to the bag when turning a page if there was no combat?
Hey Keith, I think this thread does a nice job of summarizing the conditions under which dice are returned to the bag: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1930548/end-turndice-bag
Great video, thanks a lot! A couple of questions here: 1. Skill dice: are we allowed to roll, say, 2 yellow dice for Search separately, and, if we are lucky, getting two items? If yes, does it also apply to movement or attack? 2. When the minions are activated, do they start acting immediately or right after the current player ends his/her turn? Thanks!
Hey Maks, I normally do my best to answer all rules questions but I lent my copy of the game out to a friend, so I don't have the rules handy to look these questions up for you. You might find them covered on boardgamegeek.com if you didn't find the answers here in the video.
for 1. you can use dice seperately as often as you want and as much as you have die left. so if you have 2 yellow dice you cann roll 2 seperate times and take 2 items. or even more if you hae more yellow dice. 2. the minions are activated at the end of the players turn (or you can say after that players turn) as its only then when the threat is checked not during the turn or at the beginning of that players turn when the dice are pulled out of the bag.
Hey Rodney, a couple quick questions. In the video (21:01) you note that a surge may result in more minions being added to the track. You also note that these would get an immediate activation. I assume this activation happens only IF the number of black dice exceeds the number of minions, or no matter what? Right after this you state that you should discard all black dice, but wouldn't they already be in the discard pool as a result being rolled during the minion's activation? Thank you, guess those weren't so 'quick' but I wanted to be clear. :)
The rules do just say that "If the surge resulted in minions coming into play, the minions will immediately take a minion turn.", so based on that, it would seem that they activate, even if the number of black dice didn't equal or exceed the number of stuffies. That said, I haven't looked through every encounter in the book, but if we assume that surges generally create random encounters - then those only add a number of minions equal to the number of stuffies in play - meaning the number of black dice will always equal the number of enemy minions (so it works out naturally anyway). To your second point, if the number of black dice during the threat check step equaled or exceeded the number of minions in play, then yes, they would have activated during that step and the dice been discarded, but in the example you're asking about, it's when a surge is triggered (which only happens in a situation where minions didn't activate - that is, when there are minions in play, but "fewer" black dice than them).
@@55DeArc I would say so yes : as long as they are Minions in game (and therefore on the track), they are no surge, and the Minions just take a turn each once the black dice on the track equals the number of minions in play. If no Minions are on the track, you then have to compare the number of black dice to the Stuffies instead. Once you have a number of dice equal to the number of Stuffies, a Surge happens.
It's been long enough since I shot this video that I don't know the rule from memory, and I don't have my copy of the game to be able to look it up in the rules, unfortunately.
Great video Rodney! Looking forward to the play through video. I know you probably can't share your thoughts, but I would love for someone to post a review before I preorder this game. It looks great so far though, for sure!
If a stuffy is collapsed when you leave a page, they begin the new page collapsed. As a reminder, a fellow stuffy can always give some of their own stuffing to a collapsed stuffy, which would remove the collapsed status.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial as always! Sorry if this is obvious - at 4:08 are you supposed to re-shuffle the Item Deck any time you gear up? I assume this is because you have seen the cards when searching for the items. Could not find this mentioned in the rules. Also are some things missing from the rules? For example they only mention that the starting minion position is on or adjacent to the relevant symbol, so you could technically place all the minions only on spaces adjacent to the symbol?
Hey Kindred, it's a little tricky to answer your question about re-shuffling the items deck, because I'm not sure of what exact situation you are referring to (with the adventure book being so diverse, there are so many different places it might instruct you to get gear, that unless I knew what the situation looked like, it would be hard to know if we were talking about the same thing). For example, when you get items from going to the vendor, you don't go searching through the deck, so you wouldn't reshuffle in that case. If the game instructed you to search through the deck for a specific item though, yes, I would see you needing to reshuffle after that. And yes, you may find things missing from the rules, but I worked with the publisher to try to get answers for any questions that I felt were left unanswered. You find others though. As it relates to placing minions, it is discussed here: ua-cam.com/video/vwIvQfuCoGI/v-deo.html. Hopefully that helps!
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you so so much for your reply and at lightning speed too! I am constantly amazed at your super ability to read all the comments and answer all questions. Much appreciated and hope you continue to make these videos for many years to come.
Holy cow I was expecting this to be a little lighter considering the theme. I plan to play with my 14 and 11 yr olds ... How many story sessions would you say until they "get it"? My first impression is that it is similar depth to 7 Wonders, in that there are tons of rules and details, but none of them that complex and that after one session of confusion it starts to make sense.
Hey Mike, I wouldn't know how to estimate that for you, I'm afraid. It's going to be based on your kids, their experience with games, and their interest in learning, but hopefully the video can give you a sense of it. We also have a full play through if you'd like to see the game in action to get a better idea.
The 14 yr old boy has played Blood Rage so I'm not too worried. The 11 yr old girl likes Dixit but I might have her buy in to give it a shot since it became our first ever Mini's Painting project :) instagram.com/shtanky.aoh/ ... we'll give it a try this weekend time permitting!
Hey Rodney, Quick question. To perform a skill test, do the stuffies have to be standing on the square where they read about the skill test? For example, in the second chapter of the first story, there's a chance to pull out a wagon. Thematically, it makes sense to be standing on the square where the wagon it, but it required us having to move each stuffy off the square before the other stuffy could get on the square...All this in order to attempt the skill test (that we kept failing).
Paul, I wish I had the answer for you, I lent my copy of the game out and can't easily look up the scenario to see how it's worded. This might be a question to take to the boardgamegeek forums for the game in the meantime.
On this note, in the video you said that the remaining cards at the end of the story are shuffled into their respective decks. Is there a way to differentiate between the cards from each story to those you start with? Does playing through the game with all the story cards shuffled together affect gameplay in any way?
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Greetings from Canada! We have a promo store, and you can support us by picking up an item there, if you'd like: www.podpledge.com/project/382/The-Watch-It-Played-s-Promo-Store/shop
Great game, great video - thanks for that! But I still have a question: The blue dice can be used for "standard actions". What are these? Every action except fighting? Greeting from Germany
Move, Reserve, Encourage, Skill Test of Matching Color, Group Task of Matching Color. You'll find this on Page 8 of the rules under "Any Color Attribute Dice".
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Hello, thank you for the video. One question - when moving to another page the rulebook says put all dice back to the bag, except the dice on cards. Do we remove threat dice from the threat track and put them back to the bag?
Hi Rodney: I have a question; Ol’ Number 2 it’s the only weapon with two colors (Green/Yellow) next to the weapon’s name. Those that means I can also use Yellow Dices for attacking with Ol’ Number 2?
Great as always!i really want this for my kids but they don’t speak English yet and I’ll have to translate everything,it will be a big obstacle or not?thank you
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
I didn't understand one thing: all the players go from the beginning, and then the threat scale is checked? the scale of the threat is checked after each player?
Hey Vladimir, I think this card will help: ua-cam.com/video/vwIvQfuCoGI/v-deo.html This card shows all the steps you complete on a single player's turn.
I doubt I'll get a reply since it's been so long since you posted this, but are black threat dice removed at the end of every turn or just after the minions have taken their actions?
It's been awhile since I shot this, so I don't remember off the top of my head, but I believe this is explained here: ua-cam.com/video/vwIvQfuCoGI/v-deo.html
When using the earned abilities of heroes that , for example, "add one blue die to your attack roll", where do I add the blue die? Does it mean i need to have a extra blue die in order to use the skill?
Are the dice included in the game orange and pink and the instructions tell you they are red and purple? Are they shown in the rule book as pink and orange or red and purple? Just wanting clarification.
I'm not completely sure what you're asking, but let me put it this way: the dice you see on screen are what comes in the game. They are referred to as red and purple in the rule book.
I still don't understand surges. Please help? Specifically, no one answers what happens if the surge does NOT result in the page explicitly telling us to add minions to the board. Like if the surge icon just says to flip a sleep card, is that all we do? We don't additionally ALWAYS generate a random minion encounter in cases where the surge didn't specify a type of encounter? Also, what happens if we surge additional times on the same page and the story instructions don't explicitly mention what happens on subsequent surges? We've only played through Story 1 so far, and we decided that a surge always spawns minions in addition to whatever the page stated because otherwise there are pages where minions would never spawn. We also found it weird that most pages don't default any minions, and it wasn't rare that we managed to complete the objective to leave the page before we drew enough black dice for a surge. Is it intended for the minion/battle part of the game to be so minor, or maybe that's just how it goes in Story 1? Thank you for any answers!
Yes, if the surge icon just says to flip a sleep card, that's all you have to do. So if you had several surges, you'd flip a card each time. A surge will instruct you if it's mean to spawn minions instead. In Story 1 you will find pages where there are not a lot of surges.
How do I buy this? On PlaidHatGames website it’s $60. Preorder? But, I see people already have it...How is this? It’s $50.97 on GameNerdz.com? What should I do?
I came across your video in order to learn how to play this game. But one thing isn't clear for me: In all the characters cards they are holding some weapon, for instance, flops is wearing a crossbow. Does that means that she is a ranged character from nature? Or the weapon that they are drawn with doesn't impact in the gameplay? Tks!
@@WatchItPlayed so, those are not the "default" weapons that the characters are "born" with, right? the game, story, style is absolutly insane, but I felt while playing that the rule book lacks in depth!
I have a question. When you progress in the story and flip the book to another page the rule says that all monsters are discarded and all dice are put back in the bag (except reserved dice). Does this include the black dice on the track? We played the first story yesterday, we put the black dice back in the bag after flipping a page and therefore the monsters didn't activate a single time neither surge was triggered - it was WAY too easy! Another question: what happens to exceeding dice on the track (e.g. if there are two Monsters and three black dice)?
@@WatchItPlayed Sorry for the confusion. I'll try to make it clear. When it's the performance actions phase, am I suppose to follow the order of those actions such as move first then so on with reserve or I can choose which action to use. Sorry, I'm just still learning the game. Hopefully, it's clearer this time.
@@BP2009ism I think the confusion is that you are saying "performance action phase". I'm now realizing, you mean, when you perform the action phase. You can perform the actions in any order you like.
So looking at family games to introduce styles of games and the ones that keep coming up are this, mice and mystics, clank, mechs and minions, my little scythe. Anyone played most of these with someone between 7 and 10?
It’s an interesting age range, because I’ve certainly played games like this with kids of that age, but the success of it greatly depends on their personal interest in learning/playing and their experience with other games of that type.
Hi Rodney, we played the first page with my son last night. And I have quite a few questions if you have the time :). It said that if it was your first play you shouldn't add any leaders or bosses so I didn't, we just fought regular minions, do you know if this is correct? When there's a pre-set encounter with a specific minion type, do they always go with the leader? Also in the weapons deck there are many +2 ones, can you choose any of those as long as they include the word Kitchen or Study? Last question, when you turn the page, do you keep your weapons, hearts, buttons and reserved dice? What happens with stuffings? If I turned the page with only two, does the amount get reset or do I keep the two till I get more? Do you earn a heart after every page turned? A lot of questions sorry! I know you're a busy guy 😁. Love your channel!
Hey there, did you get a chance to watch the video? I believe some of this is addressed there. Unfortunately it's been quite awhile since I shot this, and I don't have my copy to be able to look up the other information for you, but if it helps - if I don't say that you lose something when you flip a page, it means you don't. Happy adventuring!
@@WatchItPlayed Hi! Yes I saw it many times. It was extremely useful, even though there are things that I didn't find (in the rulebook either, which makes sense 😁). It was my bad, this is 3 year old video, plus I rained down with questions. Thank your for taking the time to reply 🙂 (and super swiftly). I'll search the internet for those specific details. Keep up the amazing work you're doing and happy gaming!
@@xeptyon any luck finding some of those details? I also got confused about when the items and boss in the discovery deck in the first part of the story were supposed to come into play. For instance, I only saw the wagon mentioned in the second part, so that confused me more. Ahaha!
Thank you for this video. I really don't understand why a very well produced game like this does not provide a guided "scenario #0". I consider myself a kind of a seasoned player (I play Gloomhaven, Zombicide, and Tiny Epic Zombies, to name a few), but when reading the rules I was left with many questions regarding HOW to put every rule together while playing. Thanks to this video, I think I now understand how to enjoy this game. Cheers!
Very glad you found this helpful! I know what you mean, sometimes even a simpler game gets in its own way with a rule book that isn’t as clear as it could be.
Hi, I just bought the Game and have a doubt. When using Lumpy, he is able to discard a Heart yo add a Blue Die his attack. Do I need to have this blue dice? Or is this like a magical dice?
I'm not sure what you mean by "do I need to have the blue die, or is it magical"? The effect means that if you discard a heart, you can then take one of the games blue dice and add it to your roll.
@@WatchItPlayed sorry about my english :( I understand that blue dice is ANY blue dice in Game? I mean, where do I take It from? From the discard dies? Or is It a blue die I must keep previously? Thank You so much for your answer!
this is very informative. but a lot of what he said isnt in the rule book so it has been incredibly difficult trying to figure all this out by using just the rulebook.
I dont get what you do with the story cards once you've used them and finished the story...are you meant put them all in the same order they came in again, for replaying the story as designed?
My son got this for me for Father’s Day, and we just started playing the first story. We are have so much fun so far. But, I have a question regarding the threat dice. I haven’t been able to find an answer anywhere, so I’d thought I’d see if you knew. We found it was possible to have more threat dice out of the bag then there were minions on the board (the player might have killed one before the end of his turn, or the minions only need one more black die to trigger their turn but the player drew two). What is done with that extra die? Does one of the minions get an extra attack during their activation? Or, the extra die roll over to the next time (thus making the next activation after this one that much closer)? Or does it just get discarded? We love your videos, and my sons (currently 7 yrs) is always asking when Luke will come back. ☺️
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
@@WatchItPlayed thanks for the reply. After re-reading the rules, it says to end movement but pause the turn in order to read the entry in the book. I got confused with the pausing part of the rulebook.
@@AdrianPaneto Hey Adrian, that doesn't really mean anything other than "stop what you're doing, and read the entry". Pause your turn is meant to be descriptive, rather than your turn functionally being put on pause. Hope that helps!
1. Why shuffle item cards before they are selected and the reshuffled? Just don't shuffle before the selection. 2 I get colourblind friendliness, but they should have chosen names that do describe the chosen colours...
Some of the scenarios will feature walls/barriers and will instruct you to put the card near the board as a reference. It simply tells you how to treat the sections of the board that function as walls/barriers.

Wow! The theme is awesome, the artwork is amazing and the game looks fun. What more can you ask for...
Glad you enjoyed checking it out!
Just saw this game at the Games shop, Decided I needed to come check out your video before going back to buy it. Looks like a fun game but a little more involved than I was expecting.
I'm glad the video helped to give you a better idea of what's going on in the game!
I thought this game would be lighter. It kind of feels rules heavy.
Join us for the play through that will be starting soon and it should give you an even better sense of that.
I think for it's genre it's pretty light
Got this game delivered today. We are missing a piece but I contacted the shop and we are getting the missing piece! The game looks AMAZING. Reading through the rules made a lot of sense. Can't wait to play
Glad the missing piece is getting sorted! Have fun adventuring :)
This has become one of my all time favorite games! I really hope they come out with more, or at least use the same style.
Thanks for checking out the video Brandon!
If you like this, check out "Aftermath" or "Mice and Mystics", they're both book adventure type games like this :) I started with mice and mystics originally, and then got stuffed fables later :)
Thank you so much for your videos. You are the only one who gets rules 100% and I don't even need to bother with the rule book.
It means a lot to hear that! Glad to be able to help!
Well this is a pleasant surprise. This will go on my kid's game shelf
Hope you all have a great time playing together!
Just got this for my birthday, holy crap I've been waiting for so long!! ^-^ Can't wait!!
Good luck on your adventures!

Can't wait to play this with my daughter. Really hoping it gets into stores before Christmas. Thanks for another great video Rodney!
You're welcome Kevin. I don't know when it releases, but I'm hoping you get it in time!
What a wonderfully themed game. This is definitely going on the shelf. Thanks!
Thanks for checking it out!
That artwork is pretty amazing
Hey, glad you liked it!
About to start this with my 8yo son. Just watching and rewatching this and the playthrough videos over and over again to try and get the rules to stick. 😅 Once again, excellent video Rodney, love it!
I hope you both have a fun time playing!
This tutorial has been a great resource!
Thanks Jacqui, so glad it's been helpful!
Eheh, a month after I commented that companies should hire you to replace instructions booklet, you participate in one. Great job!
Glad you liked it!
Big, expensive looking production values? Heavy story driven gameplay with choices and consequences? Rolling and collecting sets of colored dice? Yup, this is a Plaid Hat game.
Is that a good thing, bad thing, or...just an identifying thing?
and no one of this is defect? Yup this is a Plaid Hat Game!
thenightsshadow I think the last, though he definitely seems to approve.
Merry Christmas to WYP and your families. Have a happy a healthy & safe one.
Thank you kindly Douglas.
Hi Rodney can I suggest that you include how long the average game will take in your How To Play episodes?
Nothing carries over between scenarios, so you are playing correctly :)
This looks like a great family game. Thanks for the review, Rodney. Awesome video, as always.
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Great explanation of the game, thank you very much!
You're very welcome Debora, have a great time playing!
Will you be doing a how to play video for Great Western Trail?
Hey Danny, thanks for the interest. I avoid pre-announcing games I might cover, as my schedule can change and I don't like to disappoint.
Thank you so much, I borrowed this game lately to play it with my 8 year old daughter but the german rules are not quite clear enough for me to know what I have to do
Now I know, that I can also discard a searched item if I don‘t need or want it
It did not mention that the stuffing are the life points, we had to figure that out
So we played it a little wrong during first story but now we are ready to take on the next adventure
Maybe it is just bad translation or some stuff is mostly clear for players used to dungeon crawlers but I was not, but thought, the game is for 7 year olds, so how difficult can it be - well, turns out there are quite some rules and a good book keeper will definitly enhance the game play with kids
Good be a translation issue. Hard to say. Hope the video helps!
Ok thanks for the quick answer. I will try out the Play Through video of yours.
Having played both, I think Mice and Mystics has a more adult feel to it probably because of the classes available and the more D&D feel.
Again an amazing vidio its really helping me and my friends undestand our new games

I don't think you're ever too old to play this sort of board game. @@WatchItPlayed 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Thanks Rodney. Your the best.
Thank you kindly!
Great video, thanks a lot! A couple of questions here:
So basically surge can only happen when there is no minion on the board?
@@55DeArc I would say so yes : as long as they are Minions in game (and therefore on the track), they are no surge, and the Minions just take a turn each once the black dice on the track equals the number of minions in play. If no Minions are on the track, you then have to compare the number of black dice to the Stuffies instead. Once you have a number of dice equal to the number of Stuffies, a Surge happens.
When following the reshuffling minion deck instruction on a new page, does that include the minions discarded that were defeated on the previous page?
It's been long enough since I shot this video that I don't know the rule from memory, and I don't have my copy of the game to be able to look it up in the rules, unfortunately.
Great video Rodney! Looking forward to the play through video. I know you probably can't share your thoughts, but I would love for someone to post a review before I preorder this game. It looks great so far though, for sure!
Play through coming very soon!
Great video as always.
I'm wondering, what happen if a stuffy is down once the page is resolved and you need to go to the next page?
If a stuffy is collapsed when you leave a page, they begin the new page collapsed. As a reminder, a fellow stuffy can always give some of their own stuffing to a collapsed stuffy, which would remove the collapsed status.
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks a lot. We had our first session à few days ago and it was a lot of fun. Your video really helped making it a smooth experience
This game looks so adorable!
The cute factor is in full effect here :)
Great paint work! I hope you all have fun playing :)
Thanks! We're taking this game for our first spin tonight :)
This might be a question to take to the boardgamegeek forums for the game in the meantime.
is it possible to play again a story after finishing it, or it is some sort of a legacy game? - thank you!
I hope there's not permanent changes, so far looks to be similar to Mice & Mystics, so fingers crossed for replayability :D
There are no permanent changes made to the game, each scenario can be played over again as often as you like.
No permanent changes!
Thank you a lot for your time, sir! :)
On this note, in the video you said that the remaining cards at the end of the story are shuffled into their respective decks. Is there a way to differentiate between the cards from each story to those you start with? Does playing through the game with all the story cards shuffled together affect gameplay in any way?
For ranged attacks, do they need to be in straight lines or do we count squares like with movement, so a combination of straight and diagonal?
A combination of straight and diagonal.
Can you equip both LEFT Claw and Right Claw at the same time? Both are melee but the Left Claw mentions if the stuffy has both claws equipped.

Hello, thank you for the video. One question - when moving to another page the rulebook says put all dice back to the bag, except the dice on cards. Do we remove threat dice from the threat track and put them back to the bag?

Hi Rodney:
I have a question;
Ol’ Number 2 it’s the only weapon with two colors (Green/Yellow) next to the weapon’s name.

We are.
When using the earned abilities of heroes that , for example, "add one blue die to your attack roll", where do I add the blue die? Does it mean i need to have a extra blue die in order to use the skill?
It has been a good while since I played, but I believe this just means you take a blue die (from the bag, if you have to) and roll it when you attack.
@@WatchItPlayed thanks for the reply. We will try that out. =)
I had the same question, thanks for asking (and thanks for the answer!).
How do I buy this? On PlaidHatGames website it’s $60. Preorder? But, I see people already have it...How is this? It’s $50.97 on GameNerdz.com? What should I do?

Mark No problem. They are a good website.
I came across your video in order to learn how to play this game. But one thing isn't clear for me:
In all the characters cards they are holding some weapon, for instance, flops is wearing a crossbow. Does that means that she is a ranged character from nature? Or the weapon that they are drawn with doesn't impact in the gameplay? Tks!
Hey Kevin, that’s just fun artwork, it doesn’t mean they have to use the weapons they are shown with.
@@WatchItPlayed so, those are not the "default" weapons that the characters are "born" with, right?
the game, story, style is absolutly insane, but I felt while playing that the rule book lacks in depth!
This game is adorable
I have a question. When you progress in the story and flip the book to another page the rule says that all monsters are discarded and all dice are put back in the bag (except reserved dice). Does this include the black dice on the track? We played the first story yesterday, we put the black dice back in the bag after flipping a page and therefore the monsters didn't activate a single time neither surge was triggered - it was WAY too easy!
Another question: what happens to exceeding dice on the track (e.g. if there are two Monsters and three black dice)?
Yes, the black dice go back too. For your second question, you’ll find the answer on Page 11 of the lures under Check Threat.
I do not completely understand the point of blue dice beyond being good for encouragement to block damage. Do they have any other use?
Hey David, such additional uses will be dictated by the scenarios special instructions, if any.
For the performance actions, are we suppose to go in order for those?
I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by Performance Actions. Do you have a timestamp for which part of the video you are referring to?
@@WatchItPlayed Sorry for the confusion. I'll try to make it clear. When it's the performance actions phase, am I suppose to follow the order of those actions such as move first then so on with reserve or I can choose which action to use.

Hi, I just bought the Game and have a doubt. When using Lumpy, he is able to discard a Heart yo add a Blue Die his attack. Do I need to have this blue dice? Or is this like a magical dice?

I dont get what you do with the story cards once you've used them and finished the story...are you meant put them all in the same order they came in again, for replaying the story as designed?
Yes, they can then be reset for future replays.

@@WatchItPlayed thanks for the reply. After re-reading the rules, it says to end movement but pause the turn in order to read the entry in the book. I got confused with the pausing part of the rulebook.
@@AdrianPaneto Hey Adrian, that doesn't really mean anything other than "stop what you're doing, and read the entry". Pause your turn is meant to be descriptive, rather than your turn functionally being put on pause. Hope that helps!

Do minions move diagonally?
Yes.
1. Why shuffle item cards before they are selected and the reshuffled? Just don't shuffle before the selection. 2 I get colourblind friendliness, but they should have chosen names that do describe the chosen colours...
Oh yeah, I agree on both those counts, but for the videos, I stick to the rules as written.
Yes, you're right to do that, a discrepancy would cause confusion.
How would you compare this to Mice & Mystics? It seems kind of similar in a lot of ways?
I avoid reviewing or comparing games, but we will be doing a play through of this soon on the channel, so you can see it in action.
Same company, so I would not be surprised if it was very similar.
What is the walls/barriers environment card?
Some of the scenarios will feature walls/barriers and will instruct you to put the card near the board as a reference. It simply tells you how to treat the sections of the board that function as walls/barriers.
