And agreed. Star Wars KotOR is amazing with its voice acted everything. It really is the best at that. Its not lazy and generic for the actual voices. Also I should really have put all of my multiple comments in one big comment but eh...its interaction for the channel at least lol
This earned my subscription even where our takes differed, because I could see and respect your rationale for them and you're allowed to have personal preferences. Knowing why you like what you like when it isn't something I like lets me know how to take feedback on games I haven't played yet so honest consistent feedback is far more useful than just having unexplained likes that align with mine on a limited sample set but I don't know why.
The thing with the game is once you get to end game you have mindlessly played not really thinking but then once you start doing pvp well or the master que which unless your in a guild it can be a pain to find others to do or even complete because of its massive change most people play dps and thats fine until you get to master where you need a good tank and a good healer
It's got some disturbing trends: Galactic Seasons is just monetized Conquest, and S5 now locks subscriber story progression behind the (monetized) GS level grind.
We need a Revan series! Done just like Ashoka, Mando and Obi-Wan. I would love a new trilogy of GOOD movies featuring Revan as the main. But we would most likely end up with the skywalker saga for movies.
Ashoka and Obi-Wan are just trash. The only mid series is Mando. I don't want that Disney make trash with Revan like they did for every characters of the franchise before. I prefer to maintain the goated Revan like we saw in KOTOR and SWTOR and not being ruined by Disney like everything they do with Marvel and SW universes since they bought them.
Six companions including the Ship Droid. Yes, you can adventure with the Ship Droid as a companion. Not really recommended because I think he's the hardest companion to find gifts for; thus the hardest to gain influence with; which affects the companion's performance.
I literally created a character on a new realm where I had no access to anything. Just to have a little bit more challenge, but the game has grown so easy that even without legacy or money or anything it’s a cakewalk.
Very good. entertaining and engaging main 8 stories. Just don't bother trying to max gear past lvl 80, it's pointless grinding. Don't bother with master FP, ops, pvp etc, unless you have friends too do them with. The vast majority high rated players are very toxic on this game.
I wish they would do Solo OPS like they do with the Revan flashpoints at least for the Dreadmaster and Machine God storylines since those are story important. Instead of one companion have your character bring their entire roster along.
Agreed and understood many points you said from basic crew skills, terrible pvp q times for LOW LEVEL toons, and the great decorations system Swtor has. Until you said your last point. Where is it said Swtor is dead? Are you just looking at Steam chart because it wasn't until 2021 Swtor was released to Steam. The game has been out for 12 years do you really think the main playerbase is on Steam? Come with actual proof the game is dead and then your point will make sense. Until then you just spat a flat out lie at the end for zero reason.
BTW the Devs have announced and stated multiple times they have no intention of stopping production. You for some reason comparing an MMO as massive as Swtor which is connected to the bigges IPs of all time to baby MMOs that have no where near as much traction as this game. Can you use your brain for a little bit and see that Swtor is on a different level?
You can get the outfits that cost money by grinding and selling highly requested items, and to grind for them you need to do group raids and be subbed however. But regardless it is so much fun.
The games basic combat system is great in my opinion. Its the depth of it when it starts losing my love. I actually still prefer tab targeting for mmorpg games like this one.
Yes camera movement is STILL not fixed. Game made in ancient engine in 2010 and having fundamental issues with teams in last 10 years have no chance to resolve. But somehow the cinematic team is pretty chad still :D
It's the only mmo I come back to regularly. That loooong Darth Tanathon arc is one of my most memorable gaming experiences. I just couldn't go to bed towards the end before I see this asshole crawling before my inquisitor because i grew to hate that soab so hard, that's how well written the main storyline is.
i love swtor. my comfort mmo. its got great stories from 1-50 with 4 different classes with 2 different sub specs that you can play 2x for light / dark side choices in the stories. pvp is fantastic too. its just sad that inevitably like anythign EA touches, it becomes a MTX cash cow where the quality is no longer the focus and its all bout the quantity. HHOWEVER, KOTFE expansion was a great step in the right direction and is enjoyable.
I mean, honestly I played this game when it first came out, and I found no fault with it whatsoever. I don’t play MMORPGs for anything else but the story. I enjoy the leveling process. I enjoy occasionally grouping up and doing a dungeon or flashpoint in this case but once I finish the story, I’m kind of done with it because all the games I grew up playing as a child. You had a goal that you had to achieve, which is why you gained levels in the first place I feel like it’s kind of pointless just doing random crap over and over again.
My friends and I were there during the release of the game over a decade ago. The world battle pvp was laggy and had so many performance issues. I believe the map was Hoth pvp or something, it's been awhile. Then the class imbalance and constant overhaul of the skills sometimes to the point of nerfing a whole class in PVP because they had ported over the PVE skills and was considered overpowering. It was also quite dull after having reached the early level caps but the devs did release newer contents, but by then, the player base dwindled to non-existent and it took over 15 minutes to queue up for a pvp match. It was not worth the subscription but then the game play were nerfed without it. Not sure how it is now after a decade and in 2023.
Just started playing about a month ago, i love it. It's not really a pay to win(it does help though). I'm surprised on how good the graphics are and how many people still play this game!
Man I thought the combat in SWtOR was one of the primary draws. I like how each "mob" encounter is more than one enemy which makes it feel more epic. I also thought the animations for the abilities are really cool and had a very SWtOR feel. You wanna talk about bad combat, and it's my favorite MMO of all time. Dark Age of Camelots ancient combat is terrible and LotRO combat always felt lack luster to me. However I'm also not a fan of the lasers coming out of my ass when I jump or all the light trails and fireworks particle effects just from swinging a sword (Like alot of Korean MMOs) so I tend to have a weird combat taste. That being said leveling and combat in this game has undergone quite a bit of change since launch. It's not nearly as difficult as it was early on.
Funniest part about SWTOR??? It wasn't *really* made by BioWare - it had a lot of BioWare's *writers* assigned to the project - *but* - crucially - it didn't have many of BioWare's best producers and directors involved In fact, the studio that SWTOR was assigned to - BioWare Austin - was a completely separate studio that EA *branded* as BioWare xD
My friends and I were there during the game's release and we were excited to enjoy the somewhat new to use SW universe since we're only seen the movies at that point in terms of lore exploration. But wow, was it disappointing and overhyped. The game had performance issues, especially in large scale pvp maps (was it Hoth? I can't recall). Then there were the constant overhaul of class skills due to pvp imbalance in the early days. They tried to keep the PvE interesting with new contents, but it just wasn't that much to do after quickly reaching level 50/60 at that point and wasn't really worth the monthly subscription anymore. Now that I have less time as an adult, I would expect less wait time to queue for PvE and PVP games. Is it still as long of a wait time of sometimes over 10-15 minutes just to get a PvP game going in 2023?
@secondslate7158 The studio that is taking over SWTOR is known to be maintaining MMOs, and I'm sure the game will be alive for years to come, but I don't really see the game ever scaling back into the mainstream again.
@secondslate7158 Honestly, I hope I'm wrong, but if I was a dev, I'd tell my remaining players what they want to hear as well. Again, I hope SWTOR comes out with some awesome expansions and content, but I don't think the company they're going to has the budget for that.
@@EbonhardtTVWhile I agree, I hope that it isn't being sunsetted (which is a possibility), they did migrate a large dev team over to broadsword to work on the game. The stated reason for the move is because they wanted Bioware to focus on their single player games. They still have new story updates coming though we don't know exactly what's coming after 7.4. I'm not going to say that Broadsword, in the past, hasn't only been involved in maintenance mode for games, I hope that with the staffing changes they can keep adding to the game.
I really don't get why they don't implement a teleportation system like Final Fantasy XIV. I played through almost all of the story and three expansions and I never got used to having to see the quick travel vehicle (it changes depending on the planet) going through the maps over and over and over and...
Maybe I'm misreading your comment but there is an instant quick travel system aside from the taxis. If you're still playing the game look for it under General in the "P" menu. It has a holomap looking icon. Like FF14 it costs credits to use and unfortunately it has a cooldown, but that cooldown can be reduced to zero using credits on Legacy unlocks.
The game was released more than 10 years ago and they still didn't add a single new class. Reverse lightsaber wielding? No. Kazuul Knight with shield and laser spear? Nah. I'm a betatester of this game, played on day 1 of release and it lost all the charm for me with all the "easy mode" inclusions and the passive agressive pay to win stuff. That said...nothing will ever damage my first time getting my lightsaber for my Jedi Knight in 2011....that was a gamer core memory for me and I wish the game could come back to what it was at launch, an absolute MMO experience where effort has a reward (nobody now knows all the stuff you had to do to get a magenta crystal for a lightsaber....getting a random artifact in Illum, climbing the highest mountain in hoth, reach the hottest spot in tatooine...and after some hours popping that lightsaber in the fleet and everybody was O.O) . Wish it comes back, wish they revamp it and resurrect it as Final Fantasy XIV A.R.R did.
Can't disagree with any of your points at all, I remember when I played back at launch, and it was so much hype, which began to fall off so quickly that it was depressing. A FF14 style complete remaster of SWTOR would honestly be something that gets me beyond hyped. I love this game with a passion, and it would be incredible to get to experience SWTOR redone with all the changes, little improvements and all that stuff that the people want. It sadly won't happen, but the Star Wars IP is upto grabs for anyone, so perhaps we'll get another MMO someday, maybe a cross between SWTOR and Galaxy.
The Class stories are SO FUCKING GOOD. The newer expansions are meh but man is this game full of thousands of hours of storylines. People are sad we didnt see KOTOR III and I agree they did Revan dirty in SWTOR but man.... We got so much story with this game I forgive them for not doing KOTOR III
i quit a year ago, mostly because the endgame was a grindfest. i still miss the atmosphere, but i will never return corellia was a chore, and it only got worse from there
17:02 This is the biggest lie in the video apart from the title. This shows the overall logins not "unique", if 1000 people logged in yesterday, they quit, and a brand new 1000 logged in today Steam Charts would only show 1000 logins. Is this where everyone is getting the 100k number from? Jesus I thought it was from MMO-Population but this is even more sad.
The game has barely received any contento worth playing in the last 3 years or so It's really worth it as a newcomer but it has no real endgame and the lack of new content will drive you away
Thos game is probably one of the highest quality mmos out there, even 13 years later. Games lol ke ffxiv do the graphics and aound deaign better, but no other MMO has conpelling storylines like SWTOR. Its a shame they spent so goddamn much money on the voice acting. The character customization options at the beginning are extremely lackluster. Its a great tab targetting classic MMO!
On that point of the combat being boring across the entire MMO genre, I understand it's a subjective opinion but the fact FFXIV got lumped in with the rest grinds my gears so bad simply because it has the most engaging combat late-to-endgame with unique job-features and rotations that you have to build & expend as you go. Some requiring positionals, using buffs with good timing or having the ability to adapt quickly to change your rotation without losing your flow. WoW is pretty generic and is either exceptionally simple or just unrealistically complex to maintain good dmg with and have fun at the same time. (The only exception to the rule would be the Evokers as they are probably the most engaging class to date when it comes to Augmentation & Preservation. Devastation is for those of us who still use crayons to write) GW2's combat is pretty good I'd say given that all professions do actually feel different in how they play aswell as having a mix between complex & simple, though given th efact that the elite specs do not have a hard-set role as healer, tank or dps aswell as the targeting & spell system being unconventional in group play, it doesn't always feel that great to hold aggro or to heal/place barriers SWTOR is definitely the only game among the big ones that only shows class fantasy in visuals. There aren't any truly unique features that makes them engaging to play long-term save for a few buttons that apply a unique buff/debuff that changes how X reacts to Y or something but that's mostly the extent of it. As this creator said, it's by no means a bad thing but this just makes the gameplay roop repetitive and not engaging enough to keep me playing. As someone who enjoys a good balance of gameplay & story both, gameplay falls short way too hard for the story to make up for it. I've given the game countless tries by this point and only managed to get an inquisitor through the class story after 4 different reinstalls and a trooper halfway through his after 2 more. I genuinely wish they made a proper combat revamp as it has aged like spoiled milk. Of course I understand that given the age of th egame, the engine may just not be quite suited for a revamp or that throughout the lifecycle of the game, it'd be weird to change it only now. Chances are I'm still going to have more installs just to scratch my star wars itch however, brief as it is... TL:DR This is just a long rant on opinion that this game is old, boring but still reels me in once in a blue moon compared to the other big ones whose gameplay is superior.
Everytime I try to get back into the game, I reach the point where I ask myself wtf they did to the skill system and how they could remove the entire skill tree. And then uninstall it again. Leveling feels so pointless now. And creating a max lvl char doesnt let you have any connection to a toon. So sad how they ruined this game taking away every little bit of possible customisation.
I don't think it will be shut down. The game may get into a slow life support, but that isn't anything new. They just got a new server and ported it to 64 bit. Would be silly to waste cash if you plan to shut it down in a few years.
While I liked SWTOR, I loved SWG. I really want them to make a game that bring in all the best elements from them both. Lets start with what each one did well. SWTOR: Story, Character modification (armors, and mods) SWG: open world, item decay (items could only be reapired to 95% of current value each time repaird), very wide class path, experimentation in crfting. SWG fealt like a living world because of the item decay, mostly everything was made by crafters, and with the experimentation the same item could have very different stats. players into crafting could make a name for themselves. xp was simple, if you wanted pistol xp just ues a pistol. you did not need to take a full tree in any class, you could mix and match as you please. thus never ending up with cookie cutter characters. before SOE screwed it up, the combat system was not bad but could be improved. SWTOR What really pulled me in there was the class stories. That is also why i quit playing, class stories died and it all became the same story despite what class you were playing. I played every class story to completion. So to sum it up, what i would want to see from the next SW MMO is this. Open world, with good story line. immersive crafting system with item decay. open class system like SWG. player built cities. now that i think of it, what i really want is a Star Wars skinned Light no Fire.

Knowing why you like what you like when it isn't something I like lets me know how to take feedback on games I haven't played yet so honest consistent feedback is far more useful than just having unexplained likes that align with mine on a limited sample set but I don't know why.
this is the only game I’m interested to be a medic in the game I want to make a Jedi sage it looks fun actually fun to be a support class
The base game + the Knights expansions are 100% my favorite part of the game.
The thing with the game is once you get to end game you have mindlessly played not really thinking but then once you start doing pvp well or the master que which unless your in a guild it can be a pain to find others to do or even complete because of its massive change most people play dps and thats fine until you get to master where you need a good tank and a good healer
Still better than a board game.
But could use some love by now, not just milking item sales with minimal investment...
It's got some disturbing trends: Galactic Seasons is just monetized Conquest, and S5 now locks subscriber story progression behind the (monetized) GS level grind.
Hey! I loved your editing and take on the game. Great video!
KotOR is a great game and always has been. Ive been playing it on and off since 2012. I always get bored with it eventually but I always come back.
Anybody else remember the beta testing before it released
Very good. entertaining and engaging main 8 stories.
I love SWTOR.. one of my favorite Mmo ,hands down.. I strongly recommend. 👍👍
Don't forget it wasn't just Andromeda and anthem that hit the companies reputation. Swtor had one hell of a dark age especially in story.
I used to play this all the time. Definitely my favorite pvp. Cheers 😊
I just want them to bring it to consoles, Xbox especially.
Im getting a pc mostly for this game. Tired of xbox letting us down with each generation of not getting the good games
How you going to play with a controller?
EA isnt sunsetting they already have planned content and updates for next few years. They are just moving it to a subsidiary company
wait wait wait. Was that you with the Crest of the Dreadmasters at 13:55? I've wanted that for a decade and still don't have it.
I absolutely lost it at "Ffon Althe, the most generic Sith in existence." 😂
are you playing on darth malgus? usually there are a lot of people playing pvp on darth malgus and start forge but not other servers.
This game is absolutely amazing
Thanks for the review. How is the game doing now? Do you think it will be shut down anytime soon?
You can get the outfits that cost money by grinding and selling highly requested items, and to grind for them you need to do group raids and be subbed however. But regardless it is so much fun.
This game could be fantastic when they add one time premium purchase.
I play swtor for decade -> I only solo, I don't PVP. Most of the time it's also toxic. Lone Wolf is best way to play the game :)
Issac butterfield reference with “gorelok the destroyer”
i love swtor. my comfort mmo. its got great stories from 1-50 with 4 different classes with 2 different sub specs that you can play 2x for light / dark side choices in the stories. pvp is fantastic too. its just sad that inevitably like anythign EA touches, it becomes a MTX cash cow where the quality is no longer the focus and its all bout the quantity. HHOWEVER, KOTFE expansion was a great step in the right direction and is enjoyable.
Hey, just stumbled onto your video and wanted to say that your video quality is amazing! You deserve so much more subs my man!! Cheers from Germany!
I've said from the beginning SWtOR is 8 of the best single player story RPGs ;)
For pvp your class is good but nkt for the lvl early game abilities for your class were very pve oriented.
You forgot the world bosses on every Planet except the starting Planets
Is it available for console or PC only
Soloing heroic used to be a challenge
Amazing game. In my top 5 of mmorpgs since 2011...
@@GariusMariusilum pvp
@@86TrapHouse Thanks!
My issues is guilds and people skipping thins in ops and Flash points
I need to save for a new laptop so I can play this game
Just started playing about a month ago, i love it. It's not really a pay to win(it does help though). I'm surprised on how good the graphics are and how many people still play this game!
They recently overhauled the engine actually and added new shaders, I believe Broadsword hired some people who fork ReShade for their other projects.
It wasn't *really* made by BioWare - it had a lot of BioWare's *writers* assigned to the project - *but* - crucially - it didn't have many of BioWare's best producers and directors involved
In fact, the studio that SWTOR was assigned to - BioWare Austin - was a completely separate studio that EA *branded* as BioWare xD
The game’s director (James Ohlen) was also the lead designer for the Baldur’s Gate games, KOTOR and Dragon Age: Origins.
honestly i wish they had a more difficult version for leveling
Can they make a movie with help of people who made first trailers?
There is a button to shrink the map on bottom right...
wait swtor is being sunset? Like all of it or some part of it?
Is it still as long of a wait time of sometimes over 10-15 minutes just to get a PvP game going in 2023?
overseer harken is amazingly well written. When you realise babysitting slaves and idiots is his day job and hes fucking sick of it.
Sunset? It's just moving devs (although I understand the concern, no sunset has been confirmed).
@secondslate7158 The studio that is taking over SWTOR is known to be maintaining MMOs, and I'm sure the game will be alive for years to come, but I don't really see the game ever scaling back into the mainstream again.
@@EbonhardtTV sure but they actually made a point of explaining it won’t be sunsetted
Funny to ready this today, after watching devs Lifestream. I think we're on a good Way
I really don't get why they don't implement a teleportation system like Final Fantasy XIV.
Like FF14 it costs credits to use and unfortunately it has a cooldown, but that cooldown can be reduced to zero using credits on Legacy unlocks.
or just hop to your guild's flagship (or stronghold if you're not in a guild) and back out again to where you want to go
Wdym? They do have a system literally 1:1 to FFXIV dude lmao you realize you can click the fast travel points you don't need to take the taxi
Play the storyline missions.
Leave it at the that.
We got so much story with this game I forgive them for not doing KOTOR III
when you see that word "housing" , auto NOPE!
next game to try out, Age of Conan!
i quit a year ago, mostly because the endgame was a grindfest. i still miss the atmosphere, but i will never return
corellia was a chore, and it only got worse from there
The only place they went backwards was the new character creation screen. The old one was so much better.
Thanks, im going to download it again haha, fuck it.
The game has barely received any contento worth playing in the last 3 years or so
It's really worth it as a newcomer but it has no real endgame and the lack of new content will drive you away
Wildstar had best combat system imho
Yeah but somehow I stopped playing pretty soon after release. The quests and the world were just not keeping me there.
@@rayaqin totally understand, the game lacked depth :(
if they dropped the sub price, i wonder if it would make a comeback?
You must not know what the word sunset means in gaming rofl. Games quite alive.
Devastation is for those of us who still use crayons to write)
GW2's combat is pretty good I'd say given that all professions do actually feel different in how they play aswell as having a mix between complex & simple, though given th efact that the elite specs do not have a hard-set role as healer, tank or dps aswell as the targeting & spell system being unconventional in group play, it doesn't always feel that great to hold aggro or to heal/place barriers
SWTOR is definitely the only game among the big ones that only shows class fantasy in visuals.
TL:DR
This is just a long rant on opinion that this game is old, boring but still reels me in once in a blue moon compared to the other big ones whose gameplay is superior.
It is a niche game but you accurate in your opinion 🎉
alt-M will change that map into a mini map.
So, Harkun is a Walmart manager.
0:38
so is there any actual evidence of this or nah? because I cant find any, so I'm assuming you literally made it up.
I don't think it will be shut down. The game may get into a slow life support, but that isn't anything new.
They just got a new server and ported it to 64 bit. Would be silly to waste cash if you plan to shut it down in a few years.
You talked about combat at lvl20 realy? Try a PvP or operations hard mode using only lightning strike and shock.
Never watched the movies, but looking for a new game. I was going to play this but I saw your max level is 60, but if you pay for sub it's 80? Wtf??
While I liked SWTOR, I loved SWG. I really want them to make a game that bring in all the best elements from them both. Lets start with what each one did well.
SWTOR:
Story, Character modification (armors, and mods)
SWG:
open world, item decay (items could only be reapired to 95% of current value each time repaird), very wide class path, experimentation in crfting.
SWG fealt like a living world because of the item decay, mostly everything was made by crafters, and with the experimentation the same item could have very different stats. players into crafting could make a name for themselves.
xp was simple, if you wanted pistol xp just ues a pistol. you did not need to take a full tree in any class, you could mix and match as you please. thus never ending up with cookie cutter characters. before SOE screwed it up,
the combat system was not bad but could be improved.
If Swtor is amazing. Why not they make new SWO? Not this old game.. xD
Phenomenal
Not a bad game if SWG Legends didnt exist
