In the 1830's The Shell Trading Company began selling exotic sea shells. They imported tropical shells and sold them as shell bejeweled boxes and such. As the importer (Marcus Samuel) was able to control the flow of shells and manipulate supply and demand. His son's inherited and began also selling kerosene and eventually the Shell Oil Company was born and still exists today. So this video using selling sea shells is amazing. (and also based on historical fact).
😮 didnt know that... That makes it even crazier... Thanks for this...
@sharis9095 yup, spot on with the history of the shell trading company that went on to selling oil, their first oil carrier was a vessel named the conch, and was wrecked off the east coast of Sri Lanka…….
It takes a clever mind to explain a complicated topic in a way that everyone can understand it and to do it so creatively using “she sells sea shells”. Ren is a genius.
"No one is going to give you the education you need to overthrow them." - Linus in a Sunday Peanuts comic.
Teach the kids to question everything.
Recommendation: rewind 10 seconds after every pause. *Every* reactor misses something going back into something mid sentence. Rewind and catch it all.
This is what powers the Hi Ren line of “Ren mate, we’ve heard it all before. She sells sea shells on the sea shore”.
Ren spitting facts. the man is super talented
Ren is saying that we're all part of the Money Game. I love the nursery rhyme 😂
I just love listening to his voice/voices. He's so talented, its crazy 🤪 ❤
Love ya man, but I find it hilarious that you were drinking Starbucks during this 😂
Haha, I came here to say the exact same thing!
Me laughing at the fact that I’m drinking Scooters while watching. It’s a coffee chain but it is local at least!
Had to Pause and check if someone thought the same. Had a good laugh about this ^^
I could watch this repeatedly and still miss things.
I think that'll be true for most of us
Truth…great reaction. Yes the system, especially the education system is designed to plug us all into the game
Now rewatch Hi Ren and you’ll catch it when he mockingly says, “She sells seashells on the seashore”. Makes more sense after seeing this.
Great observations, especially like WalMart. A few months ago a pharmacy chain went bankrupt. I live in a small town on Lake Michigan, not far from Chicago and we have one of their stores that benefits from their summer trade as well as locals. I recently learned they are closing our store. This leaves an elderly population that has to travel much further for their needs. It infuriates me that their corporation was greedy and this has happened because it affects people I care about, especially all of the staff that I have become friends with over the years. Who will no longer have jobs so merry you know what. Things are broken.
Outside of the system my whole life as an artist. Now I am almost done with my teaching degree as a 44 yr old. Trust me, my students will be taught critical thinking skills. ❤
Thank you!! ❤
Love everything you said.
I had a friend who had narcissistic tendencies. I could empathize with him but he was so closed off it became difficult. I used to be married to him. I’m glad you are doing well.
DeBeers controls the output of diamonds into the market creating a false high value. Diamonds are one of the most abundant gemstones there is.
Control+Marketing= £$
We're getting Money Game Part 3 at the end of this current Sick Boi album that Ren is in the middle of releasing. He said that it's on a similar level as Jenny's Tale and Hi Ren, as far as being a song that's complex both in the writing and the music. He specifically wrote it as a transition from Sick Boi into the next album he's already written and recorded, that he described as "more traditional timeless type songs"
This one is soooo good ❣️
#Ren 🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥
RENegades!
I believe he is pointing at the diamond industry, South Africa had multiple mines, owners. They were flooding the market so the prices were low, they ended up amalgamating and early 1900-1930 no one spent a month's salary on a ring, The mine owners got Hollywood movies involved, this meant every woman expected a diamond ring worth a month's salary, songs like "Diamonds are a girls best friend" etc they only released so many diamonds on the market so high prices, I had a friend who was a jeweller and he said take a diamond ring in to sell and you will get the value of the gold, metal but unless it's a top quality diamond, nothing. Peace and love 😊
I like how he threw both sides under the buss it's a unparty.
There's a really sad part to that whole Walmart story. A sad part is when walmart picks up and leaves after they have killed all the small businesses around them. That happened here in Juneau We were pretty lucky and only killed one of our small businesses. But there are other towns where it drove away all hold of the other competition. And then the town only had the walmart and then the walmart left i've heard about that.
There's another thing the powers that be really do not want. And that is an informed public.
Brexit wasn't about currency, the UK never switched to the Euro. It was about Britain (Br) withdrawing (exit=Brexit) )from the European Union, which had, since the early 90's, created an economic type of federalism, but not a political one.
Brexit has isolated the UK from the Eurozon. It was marketed In nationalistic terms as a way to stop laborers from poorer parts of Eastern Europe from flooding into the UK &forcing wages downward. Unfortunately, any assessment that blames migrants for decreased labor standards misses the mark by misdirecting anger downward, rather than upward.
Blaming the least powerful members of a community for the policy choices made by politicians and the poweful interests they serve, only cements the enrichment of the few and the immiseration of the many. This song describes how those few, the capitalist class and the corporate media they control, brainwash all of us into their socipathic ideology
Well said
❤❤❤
DeBeers did the lock em up make like there is a scarcity for Diamonds.
DeBeers, founded by Cecil Rhodes in 1870, has been a highly successful and effective controller of the diamond market, having developed a unique purchasing and marketing cartel that has influenced prices in the market virtually undisturbed for almost a century.
But the biggest trick they pulled was creating the concept of a Diamond engagement ring. Funny thing, multiple times a girl might get engaged before getting married & 2nd hand used market is crap as most end up thrown in a lake. Diamonds have an actual low intrinsic value not like gold or silver, they devalue by 50% immediately after retail purchase. Prior to DeBeers engagement ring "A Diamond Is Forever" campaign in 1948 only 10% of engagement rings had a Diamond now it's in the high 90's.
Let's not talk about chocolate at Easter or Xmas presents.
🔥🔥
I think Ren wrote this in 2016, which would be before Brexit.
Hiya Vicky, when Ren sings "Britain split through fickle sh*t" the results of the Brexit vote are on the bottom of the screen, ✌🐦.
@@eddiebirdie1545 thank you! I didn't notice that (obviously). Maybe he wrote part one in 2016. That date is sticking in my mind because it was an awful year for me. Anyway...thanks again!
@@vickyterry3150 no problem ✌🐦.
love this reaction brother! i feel the same way on the things you aid here! by the way have you seen the ren vid of ren just doing money game 2 solo live whatever u call it? i kinda like it
Walmart doesn't even have to buy out the small businesses. They naturally fall due to the price differences. People all go to Walmart.
We have a major problem with a permanent group of unelected bureaucrats that we don't see. They are the ones who hold to the plan while the people we vote in come in and out. Our elected officials are bad enough. We need a major shift and to clean house with them all.
Just read an article about how private equity is going after veterinary clinics now. Not just housing. The world is sick because of money.
What! What’s the reasoning behind that? Push more drugs?

Yes, it was the word you had to say separately!
Business economics in a nursery rhyme.
Super
It's theater of the absurd
Britain was never a part of the monetary union (by choice). They were a part of EU, but never had euro, only the pound, always.
Love your videos mate. Top work as always. Just a bit of info on Brexit...
Brexit was us (Brits) Leaving the EU. Unelected people in Europe making laws and policies that effect us all. So we voted to leave the EU and control our own path! And if we don't like their (UK MP's) policies we can elect a new party. We never had the Euro as currency, we kept the Pound all along.
You mean those people we elected to the European Parliament while part of the EU who proposed 95% of those directives (the EU doesn't make laws) and supported 98% of them or those elected MEPs that elected members of their civil service unlike the UK civil service that isn't elected where we have unelected members of an unelected chamber part of our Government run by an unelected PM? Our current PM wasn't even given the job by vote of either his Party nor the Party membership after the Party membership voted for a person that cost us £39b in 5 minutes and nearly collapsed the entire UK pension system. She also lasted less time then a cabbage.
We always had control of our own path.
What people like you disliked is that the other 27 members were also allowed a voice in the shape of Europe due to English arrogance. They had no voice in the shaping of the UK, every law passed in Westminster was passed by Westminster, no one forced anything on us, the people we voted into Westminster did.
Now we get to follow 100% of the rules with zero say in them if we want to trade with our biggest export market that's 20 miles away.
GG for the self inflicted economic sanctions that have risen our inflation to the highest in Europe with the 17th largest growth in the G20 worse then sanction hit Russia.
I really know nothing about Brexit as an American but I have heard that the far right from outside of Britain did a lot of selling Brexit and tearing down the EU to the people so that they corporations could strengthen their power hold. Don’t remember the details.??
Hay man great reaction try crucify your culture go's in hard on the establishment
Will do!
Retail has NEVER been the way you described as how you imagined it. Ever.
Seems ironic to educate your own people poorly and then braindrain other countries for the talent needed, but that is in reality what is done. Keeping the masses ignorant for compliance. Foreigners can be kicked out if they pose a threat. Enjoy your reactions and subbed.
The System Tom Macdonald sorry going to check an see if you already have watched it? Just asking because you mentioned the system (broken? can't remember if you said that or not?)
Going to watch it this weekend!
