She shares a lot of wisdom. Fear is the teacher. She gives props to others and comes across as sincere with self-deprecation. She is soulful and intelligent. Her Christmas song is the one that got me. I love the words so much. She is a great communicator.
I keep coming back to this video and I always feel renewed every time I listen to her. You can tell how genuine, kind and prolific she is as a writer. She is funny, too. Her wit, ability to affect someone through her music, and be able to share her thoughts eloquently with such humility is a gift to the world. This time, her point of "returning back" in her writing suddenly hit my core. I've been going through a lot of healing and "returning back" to myself sums up everything in my life right now. I came out 2 years ago and Brave has been my anthem. Saint Honesty helped me through a lot as well. Her music is inspiring, healing and magical. Thank you for being a messenger that shares her overflowing energy to us through your writing. I love you, Sara Bareilles! 💕
Congratulations-welcome to the lgbtq community!! I’m revisiting this interview after watching her latest masterpiece…the film of Waitress the musical. It sounds like we both love her in a very similar way, though I came out years ago (I’m 61). But I’ve been through a life changing year (battle with breast ca) and Brave was my mantra. If you love her this much please go see the new movie-it’s out until 12/12-I can’t describe in words as eloquent as yours how much of a mind-f*ck it was to sit there and listen to her impeccable, melodic voice as she took us through this beautiful musical like a veteran actress who has impeccable comedic timing and to realize that she also wrote the very songs she was singing. I believe it’s a masterclass in making theater art. I hope you get to see it and I wish you well and the best in life. 🌈🎭💕
This is definitely one of my most favorite UA-cam videos ever! Thank God for Sara Bareilles. So much talent, beauty inside-out, such a great role model! ❤️❤️❤️
I love her, I love her thought process, her ability to power others up around her, with her voice and with her music, she is such an inspirational woman
this was amazing... I just couldn't stop listening to this interview and the songs..... omg how can it be eveytime you listen to her singing seems like the most special time she ever sang it. AUTHENTICITY AT ITS BEST-
Such an amazing artist! 💕 Also not to mention how amazing Mr. Perales is, who engaged wonderfully with Sara's story and masterpieces. The interview was on a different level, with more substantial and not your usual contents. He asked questions we wanted Sara to tell more about, and with that I knew her and her craft even deeper.
This is one of the best interviews that I've seen from a musician/actor. She is so well spoken and really knows how to express herself clearly and directly while maintaining an engaging level of humor and self-deprecation. The interviewer is also really well researched and a great listener.
I come back to her talking with Camille often. I love how she has the presence in real time to hear Camille, to hold her up and share advice that worked for her. Goals. Also thanks Sara for the advice, I need to hear it as well and appreciate it.
Sara, this was an hour and twenty minutes in some essence and elixir of true art in our bewildered era and world. My old and battered hat (if I had one!) is off to you in respect bordering on reverence, For your rich and faceted humanity. For your deep kindness. For your fabulous voice which is the one instrument apt for your complex, aspiring soul. Tears began to well in me even before you sang, hearing the soul music of your cogent answers which disclose such rich intelligence of intuition. You are a central minstrel and even poet of our times. I am of the 60s (Freedom Summer, hippy movement) and love you for passing on the torch of truth, beauty, and, yes, goodness.
To hear her describe the function of her songs as reflexive and that some of her work was inspired by a return to past experiences inspires me to grapple with the roots of my addiction. Her voice is flexible, tender and sharp all at once. Stunning and so nourishing!
YES! This was amazing, we need more of it every week or every month! Sara is so insanely talented, seriously one of the biggest talents of our lifetime. She has so much soul, an incredible voice, she plays the piano and the guitar in such a beautiful way, she writes unbelievably stunning lyrics and on top of that she is hilarious. She's my favorite person on earth, it's indescribable. I was a bit sad to notice that she almost felt "afraid" to mention less known songs, but I wish with all my heart that she would know this: surely certain songs are known by everyone (like Love Song or Brave) and they are special and beautiful, but I believe that the people who truly love her music also really love the unknown songs. They love her for Any Way the wind blows, Free Ride, Inside Out, Little Voice (which has been an anthem to me for years), Only Shadows, etc. Those are the deep, gorgeous songs that made us love her in the first place. How Once Upon a Time could've been a "bad album" is beyond me, it is flawless. I hope that deep down she knows this
I've sung Gravity at a local Karaoke scene... And someone was like , that was beautiful man... And I was like, of course it was - it's a beautifully written song.
I want to get your book, I want to get your albums and absolutely get the song for the ACLU, that is wonderful of you to do. Maybe the kids are getting taken care of today: It’s been 5 days since Inauguration!
I'm new to this artist...but she seems to be a winner. On the other hand, what is this deal about punk rock? MUCH of punk rock is this ("younger brother (or sister!) in the garage playing REALLY loud") junk. She manifests genuine musicianship...and dedication to her work....and seems to about combating corruption and political corruption, which is IMPRESSIVE.
...and BESIDES...the really talented PR bands...like Blondie..eventually turned into REAL musicians. ; Some of her tunes are "SPOT-ON" and spectacular!!
I found it funny too. To talk about mass entertainment events in the middle of a pandemic is, while we're getting back there, a bit of poor timing. Edit: lol! I just realised it was filmed pre-pandemic. Then I don't understand why they were laughing, except maybe it was cringe.
It's surprising to me to hear her talk about how she has to work really hard at piano and how's she's "fine" in terms of skill. I actually disagree. For years she's been an artist that's made me wish I played piano. Also finding out that she worked with T-bone makes total sense after hearing the music on this album. I'm a big fan of his as well so it was great to hear her talk about the process of working with him.
I mean, being inspirational and being proficient, when it comes to playing an instrument, don't necessarily coincide. Ludovico Einaudi comes to mind, he has created some beautiful-sounding compositions and fans of his music have a high emotional attachment to it, but he's not a virtuoso by any means, he just knows how to draw beauty from simplicity. On the other side of the spectrum, I know progressive metal bands whose members are unquestionably world-class in their respective instruments, but their songwriting sounds soulless most of the time, just a bloated mish-mash of flashy bits, fast noodling and rhythmic hiccups that goes nowhere and illicits no emotion, except for maybe awe at their expertise for the first 2 minutes (out of 20, usually). Artist modesty aside, I believe Sara when she says she's not great at instruments other than her voice, because moving/inspirational pieces of music can spawn from incredibly simple combinations of figures.
She is one of the sharpest, brightest musicians I've ever heard speak.
She shares a lot of wisdom. Fear is the teacher. She gives props to others and comes across as sincere with self-deprecation. She is soulful and intelligent. Her Christmas song is the one that got me. I love the words so much. She is a great communicator.
Interesting comment, I just saw an interview where she says she studied communications on college
1:04:13 I think I am inlove with Sara Bareilles. It says a lot about a person. Man, let's protect this woman, such a wonderful human being.
She’s so eloquent and clear, no wonder her songs are so beautiful
i love her sooooo much
she's so talented, wise and with an uncomparable sense of humor. one of my favorite artists ever, for sure
Now she is a Grammy-winning singer. 😍
From the very first time i have heard sara i never stop loving her!

Want an incredible woman, I love her so muchhh and she’s so so underrated she’s literally one of the most talented people on this earth
"Somebody write that down. Get this bitch a bumper sticker" I DIEEED HAHA. I love her so much.
Hahaha...somebody write that one too!

Such a gem. Keep making beautiful, meaningful music. 🙏
This girl is sooo damn talented!! Her voice makes me feel so good!!!! Her voice combined with meaning always brings tears to my eyes

emmy nominated actress.

grammy winner now !!
God bless Sara, she really inspires me to grow as a person.
She is such an incredible singer-songwriter. I really enjoyed the interview!
In love with this interviewer as much as I am with Sara. Adorable and brilliant, educated questions.
Sara is such an amazing artist and strong woman. Also she looks SO great, I did not think she was turning 40.
To hear her describe the function of her songs as reflexive and that some of her work was inspired by a return to past experiences inspires me to grapple with the roots of my addiction. Her voice is flexible, tender and sharp all at once. Stunning and so nourishing!
She's seriously the best artist of all time
YES! This was amazing, we need more of it every week or every month! Sara is so insanely talented, seriously one of the biggest talents of our lifetime. i love this.
man, i loved this interview! Sara is remarkable.
i could listen to her talk for hours
I've watched this video countless times, and each time, I'm always glad to see her stay hydrated throughout her performance. 😄
I know; I'm weird.
I love Sara Bareilles, I think she is so talented and she looks so nice and sweet, person. Good to see we still have in show business people like her.
Sarah has a amazing voice and down to earth and not mention she is right up there with Lennon&MCcartney she has been blessed with so much talent.
I've sung Gravity at a local Karaoke scene... And someone was like , that was beautiful man... And I was like, of course it was - it's a beautifully written song.
so intelligent, funny and lovable aside form talented.
She's brilliant! Love her music and lyrics!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING
I love Sara Bareilles.
She is brilliant!
Grounded, personable, funny so talented!!!
"It's such a good thing to be punk." God, I love her.
Yessss!! August moon, ancors away so many!!
wow, she made me cry with She Used to be Mine
Thank you for your great and really touching music! you are an amazing and awesome woman! hope to see you in austria one time 🙈
How are these people not singing along? I’d be up dancing and making a fool of myself!
You blind I would assume
They're in awe
It’s nice to see such a good human live such a rewarding life.
Sara's description of the origin of "Satellite Call" is interesting; there is a parallel w/ Sarah McLachlan's "Possession".
Right, except Possession is told from the point of view of the stalker, so very different effect.
Oh God, how can she think we don't know these sooooongs
everything about this is magic
This is a most wonderful performance.
So wunderschön! So Ehrlich! So Nachahmenswert! Ein Genuss!
i love her so much
So refreshing these days a host actually let the guest talk and doesn't do silly and stupid jokes.
Perfect. Almost. Here. Now. Proceed as the Opens.
I love her!!
Wonderful!!
You would want to listen to gravity after this video.
she is the beeeeeest
Love her comments about the reaction to 2016 election
Loove the audience😍😍😍
She's just a perfect example of what a lot of brain power can produce in a human.
She's amazing
armor is such a powerful song
Sara !!!
I'd be happy to do a few trumpet takes for you Sara.
I want to get your book, I want to get your albums and absolutely get the song for the ACLU, that is wonderful of you to do. Maybe the kids are getting taken care of today: It’s been 5 days since Inauguration!
So very talented, as opposed to all the phony lip syncers out there these days. And being personable and beautiful doesn't hurt either!
Hi Sara!!!

@@456zounds Heh, I think you just don't like punk rock, and that's fine. I'm not a huge fan either. But "real" musicians? Come on, now...
I think you missed the point, it's not about punk rock as music genre but the attitude.
17:42 😂. She's amazing 🤩
I love Sara but I’m having a hard time with the interviewer.
"Get this bitch a bumper sticker" lol
You are a writer!
random question: why are people laughing at the SPONSOR´s ad?
I found it funny too. To talk about mass entertainment events in the middle of a pandemic is, while we're getting back there, a bit of poor timing.
Edit: lol! I just realised it was filmed pre-pandemic. Then I don't understand why they were laughing, except maybe it was cringe.
1:06:36 Brave
1:10:42 Armor
1:15:51 She Used To Be Mine

Armor reminds me of Ani Difranco so much. I mean Ani isn't the singer Sara is. But the rest of it.
Onesies!!
Sara's a one off.
Sara is awesome, the interviewer is awkward
She is a delight...the interviewer is the worst I have seen for quite some time. He seems incredibly nervous and twitchy.
Dude is a little creepy.
Heather Lewis i though so haha but he certainly knows a lot and asked really interesting questions
Excellent interviewer though
Sort of Woody Allenish, lol!
Love your music and your voice, but I do not like the political leanings of some of my favorite musicians and artists.
Wonder why republicans can’t art
4001 iPad yup
Scott..Including Sara?
And that’s your right.. it doesn’t affect the music. But she has a right to her authenticity . Artist express and feel.
Oh, there had to be one supporter of insurrectionists in the comments. How's your Orange Clown of a traitorous former President doing nowadays?
