    Most Sony stereos will work with a steereing wheel control interface adapter. Keep in mind; the steering wheel control adapters must also be compatible with the vehicle you plan to use it in. So, we'll likely have a compatible adapter but we'll need the model number of your Sony stereo and the Year, Make, & Model of your vehicle to be sure. Assuming your Kenwood is also compatible with the adapter (not all aftermarket stereos are), any controls you had over the original factory stereo (volume, channel, source, etc.) would be restored. The trip computer functions can be retained by grounding a wire from the factory harness. You will find more info in the "Support" section of the main Crutchfield website. I own a 2008 Ford Focus, and I bought this adapter for my new stereo, the flaw in this adapter is that it needs to be tapped into the constant power wire. After a month my battery stopped working. I would recommend using a CRUX Smart Harness adapter. It doesn’t drain the battery and it works great. If you also own a Ford Focus I do recommend the RP4-FD11 harness, that’s a very good one too.

    Can this be run from the same 12v accessory and same ground as the radio? My 2011 Crown Victoria LX seems to only have one of each when I looked at the connector and I don't know whether they can be shared between the aftermarket radio and ASWC-1 or if it's more complicated than that

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  9 років тому

      Most of the information I have seen on this indicates that a lot of vehicles need the ground to be in a different spot from the radio's ground. I would imagine this is true for all vehicles. If you purchased it from us, you can give our technical support a call for confirmation. If you purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, you may reach out to Metra as they make the ASWC-1 interface.

    Hi, so the 3.5mm plug's Brown cable just goes to the Brown (KEY 1) in my Aftermarket stereo? Not both Brown and Brown/White?.

    Many aftermarket stereos will offer a 3.5mm jack for an optional wired remote. On these models, the steering wheel interface adapter will plug to this port. Hi I am doing my research before installing an aftermarket deck into my Mazda 6 and have a few questions you may be able to answer.
    First off...an aftermarket deck should only affect the "audio controls" on the steering wheel correct? As in, the cruise control functions on the steering wheel should be fine?
    I am considering buying a Sony MEX BT3-100p single din deck that has bluetooth functionality. My car also has hands free calling features on the steering wheel. Will these calling features work with a bluetooth head unit? Will the Axxess adapter also allow the answer call and hang up button on the steering wheel work? Built in microphone? etc...
    Another question I had regarded satellite radio. My stock head unit was Sirius ready and all i had to do was call Sirius and register. I currently have a 5 month subscription. The Sony head unit i am considering says Sirius XM ready, will this be easy to register my current subscription with the stereo deck? Or will my subscription be lost with the stock head unit being replaced?
    Sorry if I sound very clueless but these are features in my car that I did not have before.
    I was used to an old Subaru Impreza with just the basics. Basically I want to upgrade my sound but do not want to sacrifice any of the cars features...but also do not want to spend a fortune.
    Thanks

      Sometimes the wires for those hands free calling controls do run to the radio and when they do, they can be kept working. Well, depending on the original factory equipment (basic audio, premium Harmon Kardon audio, factory Navigation), we have different recommendations. While PAC may list the SWI-RC as compatible in all factory equipment versions of the vehicle, it may require additional parts (resistors, etc.) in some factory configurations.

      In order to retain the steering wheel controls in your car with the adapters we carry, your aftermarket head unit must have a SWC (Steering Wheel Control) 3.5mm input or steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow).
      You may want to check with the radio manufacturer directly for more info on the "key 1 and key 2 wires" you mentioned.

      It's hard to say without more specifics. The easy answer is to take it back to the "professional company" an have them troubleshoot the problem. Either it was not installed properly or the adapter may be defective. Regardless, if you paid for professional installation, I would certainly have them take another look.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  8 років тому

      +drslickrick15 This interface does not keep a factory installed Bluetooth microphone working. The extra wires are there because this interface can work with many different vehicles and aftermarket radios. They automatically include all the wires that could be possibly used in these different vehicles which means some will always be left unused. Typically, the only way to use a factory Bluetooth microphone is if there is a way to keep the factory Bluetooth system working when you install a new radio.
