I must have watched this same skit 10 times now. There is something completely different about communication between people and team playing when cultures that are alien to each other meet in different environments. This show is a timeless masterpiece.
We owe Jack Benny and his stalwarts on the show our eternal gratitude. Oh, to have comedians these days with the insight and compassion of Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Bob Newhart and others of that time. True comedy!
Thank god for UA-cam. Being able to watch these amazingly talented people from the past is awesome. Jack Benny was a very funny man and Mel Blanc was not only a genius voice over artist, but showed his comedic acting abilities time and time again. Thanks for posting this.
Jack was, and still is, the best entertainer that ever lived. His radio shows were the best radio comedy ever made . Being my age, 72, I remember his shows very well. And his television shows were the best comedy shows ever made. Every day I listen to a couple hours of his radio shows and a couple hours of his television shows. He entertained the military during ww2 more then even Bob hope in that era.
I'm going to say something original that I've never seen on UA-cam comments: I miss the good ol days when shows were fun, and we don't have this kind of entertainment anymore. We won't see this anymore. There is no talent like this nowadays.
Both my mom and I just loved Jack Benny and enjoyed reruns of his show back when I was a kid (1960's). I was LOL at Mel Blanc's stone-faced "Si, Sy, Sue"! 🤣And the music was terrific. Jack Benny mostly pretended he was a bad violinist to make people laugh - but his playing was delightful here. Wish we had variety shows like that today.
Whoever said that Jack Benny was a racist is a bold face liar.Jack Benny was never racist and he made very sure where ever he went Eddie "Rochester"Anderson was there.Rochester died a very wealthy man because of Jack Benny made sure he ivested his money wisely.Jack Benny was a great man.
Rochester died in the motion picture country home. I think there was an income "ceiling" for people who lived at the home. I don't think very many multi-millionaires lived there. eddie Anderson may have HAD money at one time. however, I don't think he had all that much money when he died........
Indeed, there were numerous times when Jack's entourage would show up at a hotel only to be told that Rochester couldn't stay there; Jack's standard response was, "Then neither can the rest of us." He was a civil rights activist 15 years before there was a civil rights movement...
+Byron Benguche' you are so right--and if you notice Rochester's scenes with Jack were never condescending master/servant--in fact Rochester many times got better half of Jack's often infantile ways. By the way, Jack refused to perform, I believe, in places where Eddie could not book in the same hotel--They were friends as well as co-workers.
No wonder, that even through the hard times we laughed so much, it's not only funny to listen to, but Jack and Mel's straight deadpan comedy style made you roar, even with the sound turned off.
To Katherine Leisering:What else? Politically constipated Social Justice Weenies, snowflake millenials with no sense of humor and good taste who think the Kartrashians are better than Jack Benny & gang. Not by a long shot.I'm betting you grew up watching Mr.Benny like me or heard his classic radio show.I left another posting calling out people who thought Mr.Benny was racist.
I loved Jack Benny. He was so funny. And he was a very generous person, not the tightwad that he portrayed. But it made for some great scenes. And, yes, Jack was a very good musician! I introduced my son to the Jack Benny Shows many years ago. He enjoyed him as much as I did. Mel Blac was a regular on his show and was very funny, too. What would the old cartoons have been without the 'man of a hundred (or maybe thousand) voices'?
Mel Blanc did virtually all of the voices of the loonie tunes characters. Ask any voice over actor and yhey will yell you that Mel Blanc was the greatest of them all, hands down.
Every time I watch these clips with Jack and Mel, I notice Mel seems to have that same effect on Jack as Tim Conway has on Harvey Korman on “The Carol Burnett Show”!! 😃👍
In the ENTIRE History of Comedy, from the First Comedian, Og, standing outside his cave entertaining the rest of the tribe, to the Present Day, NOBODY Ever did dead-pan as well as Jack Benny (although I DO recall a Johnny Carson show when he and Jack Webb each did his best to break up the other one!). Benny was in a league by himself. A Great Man, indeed.
There is absolutely NOTHING "racist" about this stuff. Latinos LOVED Mel Blanc! A few years ago, there was a "controversy" about Speedy Gonzales on Cartoon Network. Some butt-in-ski thought it was "racist," and tried to get Speedy off the air. When Latino fans got wind of this, they insisted, "What's all the fuss about? We LOVE Speedy Gonzales!"
No matter how many times you watch these skits they never never ever get stale.

I grew up watching Mel Blanc Looney Toons reruns. Best cartoons ever, scientific fact.
I must have watched this same skit 10 times now. There is something completely different about communication between people and team playing when cultures that are alien to each other meet in different environments. This show is a timeless masterpiece.
Understanding humanity and being able to laugh at yourself is important. This is why Jack was so successful. Also loved Mel.
We owe Jack Benny and his stalwarts on the show our eternal gratitude. Oh, to have comedians these days with the insight and compassion of Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Bob Newhart and others of that time. True comedy!
Take note, Fallon...this is how a host carries a show.
si
Don't ask impossible things, less to a fucktard like that idiot.
but jimmy wants people to laugh at his jokes too!
Fallon talks too much and has to hijack other's time. Laughs at his own attempts at humour. Sophomoric. Benny had class.
Fallon isn't watching this. He wouldn't understand it.
Jack Benny, Mel blank, a true comedy team
Thank god for UA-cam. Being able to watch these amazingly talented people from the past is awesome. Jack Benny was a very funny man and Mel Blanc was not only a genius voice over artist, but showed his comedic acting abilities time and time again. Thanks for posting this.
I remember watching this the first time it played on television. It is still funny.
Comedy with no vulgar language. Just clean funny comedy.
OMG--It looks like Mel Blanc is actually playing that bass! I've never seen this version of the "Si!" skit before!
I'm going to say something original that I've never seen on UA-cam comments:
I miss the good ol days when shows were fun, and we don't have this kind of entertainment anymore.
Simon
I remember his TV specials as a kid in the early 70's. Thanx for posting!
Why is it today's generation can take an innocent lighthearted acted like this and turn it into a hateful rant
+budmangt2 Because they are uncle fuckers.
+budmangt2 Because no one can laugh at themselves anymore. If you do. you are a Bully! What a crock!
+budmangt2 Because we've been overrun by social justice warriors
+budmangt2 Today's generation likes comedy that's 1000 times more disgusting and worse than this is.
@@spectrum7virkeytroni bruh look at this dood
Greatest comedian to ever grace a stage.
Jack Benny or Mel Blanc?

This routine never gets old.
Considering it was an old vaudeville routine, it certainly doesn't! LOL
Whoever said that Jack Benny was a racist is a bold face liar.Jack Benny was never racist and he made very sure where ever he went Eddie "Rochester"Anderson was there.Rochester died a very wealthy man because of Jack Benny made sure he ivested his money wisely.Jack Benny was a great man.
yes i,m glad you said that..in his movies he always gave rochester the best lines and rochester would do 3 or 4 musical numbers...
+DarthAverage oops---I should have read yours before posting mine! more the merrier.
No wonder, that even through the hard times we laughed so much, it's not only funny to listen to, but Jack and Mel's straight deadpan comedy style made you roar, even with the sound turned off.
Love the Si Sy Su Sue skits! ALL OF THEM!!!
Good Lord! Give me break! This is, was, and always will be JUST PLAIN FUNNY!
And who prey tell are the 29 who dislike this? UNBELIEVABLE!
CULTural marxists who are upset Jack appropriated someone else's culture.
I loved Mel since I was a kid in the 70s.
I agree and will add that Mel Blanc was the best voice character of all time.
And Jack Benny was no slouch as a comedian, either!
me in the 50s
Not me , he made fun of Mexicans. Why didn't he make fun of Jews like Mel brooks.
Mel Blanc with his good hearted comedy nature was a gift nobody could ever reproduce.
Even all these years later you just watch Benny and marvel at his timing and pitch perfect dead pan reactions. The master.
Now this is entertainment. And I sure do miss it.
I SURE WISH TV COULD BE LIKE THIS AGAIN! I guess we were sure lucky to be part of it!

No, the first song was not "Tijuana Taxi," it was "Spanish Flea", which is why they introduced it as such.
What would the old cartoons have been without the 'man of a hundred (or maybe thousand) voices'?
youre right ---its the character he created--and of course it made instant laughs...
TheLouise24: I'm not sure how accurate this is but I understand Jack was a concert violinist
IMDB puts it at 400 voices, but according to Mel Blanc's son, it was around 1500 distinct voices.
That is the good old days. Loved Jack Benny.
I remember this entire episode! Jack Benny as well as his guests were all comic classics!
I have watched this three times in a row, and have laughed out loud every time.
Thank you for posting. :-)
People sometimes forget how good a violin player Jack Benny was. Good to see him here.
Indeed he was very good. He was actually an accomplished violinist. He was going to do it professionally before he got into acting.
4.5 minutes of entertainment that is better than anything on TV for the next 50 years.
They both have great personalities and comedic timings 😊

Agree . I'm not a prude but it's just swearing and really offensive humour .
It just goes to show modern audiences will laugh at any old rubbish . 🙂🇬🇧
DAE modern comedy bad old good because it makes you hip and cool?
@@fenlandhobbit2307 As if Airplane! didn't have offensive language. How ignorant you people are.
We LOVE Speedy Gonzales!"
no its just funny!
Marxist Liberals are not only censorship hypocrites, they also have no sense of humor. (Could their writers get by without a laugh-track? I doubt it.)
David Lafleche latino is not a race. Its a white ethnic group
@@davidlafleche1142 Yeah you should be proud of being a conservative...they're only half as racist as they were 40 years ago. Way to go!!!

Ah great stuff. This could make me think of Christmas (or the run up to) during our childhood, in the late 1970s.
The only problem with that is that Jack Benny died in 1974. I remember when it happened.
Mel Blanc, you were funny as hell.
