I bought this guitar this week in black Gloss. Used price was 899, down from 1400$ new(CAD). So excited for this . This will be my third electric. First was an epi SG, and then an PRS SE. Loved both guitars, but I was looking for an upgrade. For the price, this chravel sounds absolutely amazing. Every reviewer on UA-cam I've seen is like "this is the best guitar I've ever played, my mind is blown". Got super lucky. After reviewing new models for weeks, and thinking of getting a PRS S2 or an Ibanez AZ, I asked the guitar store guy and he recommended this guitar, and we found one in the system with a huge discount. Very fun, I'm super pumped about it
I'm on a very similar trajectory. Started out with an Ibanez Gio, then an Epi SG and now a PRS SE. Planning on a Style1 or Style2 but they're a bit expensive here so building myself up to bite the bullet
@@glenncary9456 It stays in tune well if you don't use the whammy bar. This isn't a problem for me because I very rarely use the whammy bar. I got my guitar professionally set up as well and it still goes out of tune a little bit. But, I recommend the guitar because it is unbelievably smooth to play and the Seymore Duncan pickups sound great.
@@dextershumba7262 It's similar to a Strat neck pickup sound, but slightly thinner sounding. I highly recommend the DK24. I've never played a smoother feeling guitar ever. The only downside is the locking tuners don't keep it perfectly in tune if you use the whammy bar often. That's not a big deal for me though because I almost never use a whammy bar.
Great pickup combo. The Full Shred is a great bridge pup for clarity with high gain and high speed, accurate alternate picking. Sounds superb. Nice demo. The Alnico II Pro in the neck just sings.
Did you get it? I'm looking to get one. I'm more into clean /od although I like being able to go into high gain. Looking for fender single coil cleans. Does it do that? Can't find many clean demos.
Great review! Might have to put one of these on my short list. It's also nice to put a face to the source of one of my favorite guitars (Reverb). I bought a 1974 Tele Custom from you all some time back. LOVE that guitar - named her Claire - and your service is fantastic! Cheers!
Today at Guitar Center I tried a PRS Fiore , American Professional II tele, Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray, Fender Player Plus Strat HSS and the Charvel Pro Mod DK24. I walked out with the Charvel...it killed them all.
I had a similar experience. The one guitar that did beat it for playability was the Charvel Guthrie Govan custom. It was nearly four times the price though.
Caramalized necks and woods are more resistance to humidity changes as the wood gets its sugar removed by the process. You can read about it on any manufacturer website.
+1. ABSOLUTELY love mine. Its a ripping rawk machine if that’s your deal. I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this super strAt. Excellent shredder killer riff delivery vehicle
Own this beast. But decided to throw in some Dimarzios.Tone zone in the bridge and Evo 2 in the neck.I just always was a big fan with Dimarzio..Sounds INCREDIBLE.
Bought one a few days before Christmas. Replaced string trees, then put on staggered locking tuners, addressed the nut, even blocked the tremolo and I still can't do a simple bend on the G string without it going out of tune!!
@@Shreddah I had the satin burgundy one and yeah, I loved the look of it as well. But, after multiple trips to 2 different "luthiers" and still tuning issues, it had to go!!! I do know, the guy that I made a trade to, has replaced the neck and hardware in hopes of remedying the issue...Better him than me!! All I'm out is a re-tube. Lol
@@GLENLYNAS did that as well. Still had issues. Been seriously contemplating getting another So Cal Style 2 and giving it another shot. All because the necks! 🤘✌️
i always had a question, what if i swapped it's pickups to dimarzio evolution, would the mini toggle switch of additional 5 tones?? if yes them it would be great mod for me
What do you think about the charvel dk24 humbucker humbucker Floyd rose (dark amber) with only the 5 way switch and a regular maple neck? What is the difference? Price tag is the same.
I don't understand... Doesn't it have a "Rolled" Fingerboard? And isn't one of the best things about a "Roasted" Neck is that you don't have to lacquer it? And this also has Jumbo 6100 size frets? All these things seem very important to me, yet no one mentions them. Am I wrong about these things?
Ricks charvel has stainless steel frets, Bareknuckle pickups and is Made in Japan. and I think a flamed Neck. That to me isn't worth it being twice the price at all but each to their own. Same thing with the USA selects too. They're almost the exact same guitar as the Pro-mod DK24 but are 3x the price just because they're USA made. Ridiculous really, the pro mods are easily the best deal
@@Robv73 The color is actually Matte Blue Frost. Robin's Egg Blue is a similar but different Charvel color that comes with a gloss finish (also a very nice one)
I bought one of these last November; as a metal guy (modern stuff like Gojira, Periphery, Thy Art is Murder, August Burns Red, System of a Down, etc.) I can tell you that this thing fucking SLAYS metal tones. The only caveat is that you will want to use an EQ pedal (which you should do anyway tbh), without it the Full Shred in the bridge has a bit too much high end and not enough bottom. I have an EQ on my multistomp, with that I can fine tune my tone to fit literally any modern metal tone I want. Don't let the lack of EMGs discourage you from this guitar, in my 10ish years of playing I have not played a more comfortable neck, it is mind-bogglingly good! Not to mention the versatility with the series-parallel switch.
@@Wolfgang_von_Caelid I currently use an esp equipped with EMGs, I literally don’t think I can go back to my passive pickups anymore; I mean, I can always just put EMGs in the guitar after I bought it, but it’d be so much better if they offered an active pickup from the factory.
@@bigbo1764 Check out the pro mod style 2…they’re also very versatile with all the pickup settings but have active fishman pickups My previous main guitar has emgs (60X and 81X), which I also adore, but the fishmans definitely give them a run for their money
