    Thanks
You've taken a big interest in this little drone.
Answered a lot of questions that the other reviews can't. More technical answers they'll never get into.
I like flying this drone. When in doubt Power Out!

    Excellent video Justin.
Looking forward to more in this series regarding how the motor change effects for example battery run time when just cruising compared to more aggressive freestyle.
Also interested to see what dji do to improve the issue, presumably a firmware update.
But guessing the update will be best not to do if using larger motors..... time will tell.
Also would be nice to see a deeper dive down the trees at an even more challenging angle to try draw out the washout.

Excellent breakdown! I can't see the average DJI owner doing this mod because so many folks have DJI FPV because they didn't want to solder anything.
I am definitely going to try this mod. These motors are going to sell out quickly and get expensive. A lot of folks promoting the same motors so I guess they work well.

Great video as usual! At least there is now a solution that mitigates the "vortex ring state" issues with the Avata that you have so well covered. As you say, anybody who has built a few drones shouldn't have any trouble with this upgrade. I am enjoying flying my Avata up here in Hood River, and always enjoy seeing Oregon scenery in your videos! But at the age of 80 I often think "But can you really trust a person who wears their hat over their ears"? Ha Ha -- just joking of course! :o) Keep up the good work!

But I’ll tell you I do have a $500 Stetson Fedora that fits me like a King.
I wore it in Vegas with my honey and I got tons of compliments on it. ☑️✨
My grandad always wore Stetson. And damn any excuse and I wear that hat!!!

Brilliant breakdown, you didn't took the attention from the drone at all. Hopefully DJI takes notes for their next builds. I'm about to get into the fpv world and I want to buy the Avata, I've seen a lot of pros/cons. With that said, I'm more inclined to buy a prebuild 6" quad and at the same time to build one of myself as I am more into cruising "cinematic" videos, the only thing what puts me off are the lipo batteries. I think I watched to many lipo battery video fails 😅

Great video! More useful info for me to digest. Looks like upgrading the motors is the way to go. You'd think DJI would take note of this and upgrade existing and newly built Avata motors (for free) to eliminate the tumble, especially now that it's very well publicized. That would go a LONG way with their customer base.

Now you're thinking like I do! Take a near perfect drone and make it more perfect! This is the type of vid you're capable of, and the reason i subscribed long ago. If you get a chance, try a couple sharp left Yaw turns, without much mix, more like a newbie might, and if there's a little wind it might help induce the tumble. Also, a description of how and why you chose these specific motors would be awesome. Great job, keep it up! 👍

    • @dronecamps

Yes you are because *** Manual mode with the stock motors only gets me 5 minutes in a freestyle flight.

I just ordered the motors for my avata. Is it ok if I change the props, and if it’s ok to do it which ones you recommend? I’m a subscriber and see a lot of your videos. .

This is actually the second video I’ve seen with these motors, both of you really enjoyed the flight characteristics a lot more after this upgrade. A friend of mine has got his AVATA on the way, he doesn’t really want to do full manual so much. Which is why I got his cinewhoop so cheaply lol. But once he realises just how well it flies in normal and sport, he may end up getting theses motors once he realises that even in normal or sport mode it can do that deaf spiral.

@@maddmavic k apparently that deaf spiral has happened to people while in sport mode as well. The extra power from these different motors allows the AVATA to power through that problem.

Helps 85% with flying out imo. ☝🏻
There would still be a high wind threshold. Not sure I wanna test that tho! 🤣

Cool Video and a Great Mod for Hobbyists!
But at this point I think I will just build a new drone.
This will probably void all the warranties and if DJI finds out that I crash the drone, they will probably not honour the care refresh due to the mod.
If I really want to customize, I'll probably source parts out from online DJI parts surplus.

This may be true. Any after market part may void the warranty.

No wrong motor direction during replacement?

Install them just like the stock motors are installed and there is no issues with motor direction.

      No.
      - Runs wires straight to esc tabs.
      - Don’t cross wires.
      - Dji Fc sees and corrects
      motor direction.
      *#1 Rule : Don’t cross wires !
      You’ll be fine. ⚡️⚡️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
