It's kinda funny how not only does Nolan mention Gravity being a weakness to Viltrumites; but also mentions the Ragnar's enhanced physical forms because of the gravity. Like suggesting you should work out in higher gravity like in a totally unrelated anime.
One thing you have to appreciate is that Nolan properly learned how to write prose, which is something that no superpower could gift him. Man properly learned a skill that required real effort.
@@DasG00D1one It could be set in the past, when Mark was a little boy and Nolan was still pretending to be a decent guy. He could read them the books like bedtime stories, hinting sometimes that it indeed happened to him during his time on space.
I really like how the covers and titles of the books actually look reminiscent of retro science fiction books and films. Even Nolan's narration sounds like a Captain's Log from 'Star Trek'. Not to mention how the scene where he tried to wrestle the first Ragnar reminded me of Captain Kirk's initial grappling with the Gorn.
I wonder if Nolan got into Star Trek after arriving on earth? I do love the detail of Nolan talking about his previous adventures in a style of cheesy science fiction from the 60s. It gets even funnier when you remember Cecil said he wrote travel books and he's still technically doing that.
Nolan's partner: "Honestly, the gravity isn't too bad here. Give it a few weeks, and we should be just fine." Nolan: "But what about the Dinosaur Men?" Nolan's partner: "The wha-?"
I find it hard to believe that Cecil never once thought "hey Omni-man is writing stories about aliens and space travel. Donald! Order a copy of every book and have The Immortal read them all. Perhaps these are autobiographies!"
Exactly what the other guy said, they were well aware of the books but they couldn’t do anything to get them How would Cecil on earth with limited technology ever find Space Racer or find and capture a Ragnar?
Basically a write what you know thing. For a sci fi adventure there should be a feel of danger, and for a Viltrumite only these things remotely qualify as danger. He knows how those situations feel so he writes about them, because a fall into a chasm isn't really a problem for him so he won't be able to capture the dread in that
Perhaps Omni-Man was already doubting his loyalty when he wrote these books since it would’ve been early into him starting a family with Debbie and Mark So he wrote the novels as a little contingency, just in case
is less about weaknesses and more about "my biggest and most dangerous adventures" the books dont cover every weak. only the ones with dangerous missions
My opinion is Nolan mentioned the characters (Space Rider etc.) he write on the books have beat and defeat him before he travel and arrived on earth. So he asked Mark call all of this characters to defeat the Viltrumites. Even Allen knows this characters are so truly real 😬
If the reason Ragnars are so strong are because they lived on a Planet with much stronger gravity does that mean that a warrior who regularly trains in similar gravity levels could easily best a Viltrumite?
Think these books show that Nolan didn’t have his heart 100% set on the viltrum mission, even prior to the events of S1. He would’ve never made those comics if he didn’t have part of his mind against the viltrimites.
Viltrumites can fly plus they have special suits that help them adapt on planets with harsh conditions and envrionments or are unhabitable for viltrumets.

Two thoughts: 1) I find it a little odd that both Debbie and Marc are not well acquainted with Nolans books. Wouldn't it be something they would have expressed interest in and supported him? Seems a little strange unless he specifically told them he didn't want them to read his work. 2) Its odd that Nolan was a novelist/writer. Writers have to have a lot of emotion and empathy in order to write compelling characters and writers want to share themselves through their work. It's one thing to write just for your own amusement but it's another if you actually want to share stories with the world...for such a closed off and secretive character it's a bit of an odd profession. Perhaps his emotional repression is why his books were not popular with readers...or, his writing is a hint that there's a lot more to the character then he lets on
