    I have only eve5r driven abroad once when my son was playing squash and I drove to France and Belgium and hated ever single second of it. It never stopped raining for the 3 days we were there and never seen rain like it before. So much to think about and organise before you go and not just a case of filling up and driving over there. To be fair it sounds like you are well organised and well prepared - time will tell lol, take care, cheers Alan

    Great video again. Just a few points to add, you mentioned you had magnetic Angle Morts. These are great for the front but you will need a sticky one for the back of the Adamo. EHIC cards are being replaced by GHIC. Just a reminder for people to check the expiry date on the EHIC and, if needed, apply for GHIC. Revolute card is great, would recommend it, as you have. Have change/coins, not just cards. We found many places in Germany that did not take cards. Coins we essential for some Stellplatz and for getting water and electricity. Have a paper-based map as a backup, the phone signal was not good in some places. I can't remember if it was Germany or Belgium (think Germany) where the speed changes are not indicated as you enter a village, you must automatically drop your speed even further by a school. Luckily most sat navs will tell you. Lastly, we read somewhere that the Hi-Viz jackets had to be within your reach so we kept ours in that middle compartment. Have a great trip.

    Blimey I thought it was hard enough remembering everything when just going abroad. This sounds a bit of minefield. A green badge here, a yellow badge there. This adapter, that adapter. Most mobile companies will do a monthly roaming pass or as you in the past per day. I think it works out cheaper after about 10 days to get the month pass. Look forward to seeing where you visit in Europe as it sounds like you'll be visiting some places I got to last year 🙂

    Looks like you’re all sorted for your European trip, what a-lot of preparation 😂. When the phone companies stopped offering free European roaming, I went over to O2 / virgin media for my mobile sim, the only one who allow you to use your data - call allowance any where in Europe as if you’re at home, very useful for navigation. Another thing Dave southern Germany & Austria in the past tended prefer cash to cards, it’s a-lot better now but we found there were times when cash only was necessary.
    Hope you both have a fantastic time and shoot some fantastic footage to share with us all,

    You can top up a standard Revolut card while abroad from your U.K. current account. I used an eSIM which cost £100 for unlimited data for three months across Europe. The eSIM is a virtual sim so you can load it on you phone while leaving your existing sim in place. Camping car is great. I was in Europe for three months mid April to July and didn’t book any sites, just turned up. You need to take your original V5. If you are going through the Netherlands you need two warning triangles.

    Hello Dave and Sue! We are also headed to Europe! In one week. We will be there almost 2 months. But we are not living the vanlife of course... we will be taking trains and staying in all kinds of places.
    I'm not a fan of driving overseas...
    We will have to hire a car whilst we are in Germany for a couple days. We will be visiting a few wee ancestral villages that are not accessible by train.
    You are doing an amazing job preparing all the things you need! I'm glad I don't have to do all that. My biggest problem will be figuring out how to fit everything I need and one small suitcase and a backpack! Lol 😂
    Maybe we with cross paths with you somewhere on the continent!

      Oh wow that will be brilliant Dara.
      Yes we’re a bit nervous, not particularly about the driving, although a 24 foot long Motorhome is going to be interesting! More about the unknowns of park ups and Aires and sites really. But excited to see new places.
      We’re doing Northern France, Alsace, Black Forest, Bavaria, Austria and the Romantic Road and the Black Forest again on the way back. Going for just over a month
      We’re not starting until mid August so a while yet but we’re so looking forward to it.
      And as us Motorhomers say (apparently), 😃, we will see you all the road!

      @@NBNatureTrailvan I have a friend in Cheltenham who is also going on a long camper van trip through the European continent soon. She was telling me that it's a lot easier to find park ups in the EU than it is in Britain. Hopefully you won't have troubles, and you will have a great time! I'm so glad you are returning to Alsace again! What a fabulous area❤️
      We will be in Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. I will be spending my 60th birthday in Brussels! In September our son is coming over and we will be celebrating what would have been my father's 100th birthday by visiting the ancestral villages of his German forefathers/mothers. It should be quite an adventure! I don't plan to film very much of it, because nobody watches my European videos. This is a blessing, because it will let me be more "present" and just enjoy what I'm doing! 😉

    Happy Weekend Dave & Sue - As always it is fun to watch you and see how you prepare for your trip with Florrie to Europe. There are a lot of practical things to think about and I was stunned to learn that reversed polarity can be an issue in 2024, but so much for European integration:) One thing you did not mention is the question of vaccinations. Now most European countries should not cause any concerns when it comes to ordinary diseases, but with ticks being an increasing issue it might be worthwhile to think about a TBE vaccine depending on where you are going and how much nature you will be exposed to. As you go in September the threat is also a bit reduced, but it can be worthwhile to think about it. And I guess you are getting more and more excited about the trip and it will be fun to watch your further preparations:) All the best, Ant

    • @NBNatureTrailvan
      @NBNatureTrailvan  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks very much Ant.
      Yep couldn’t believe the reverse polarity on sites. Fairly common apparently- hopefully we won’t need the converter.
      Great advice on the vaccination mate. Yes, we will be walking through potential Tick hazards on this trip so will look into the vaccination. We do wander through a fair bit of deer country at home so we always check and have the tick kit ready. Googling the TBE now.
      Thanks again mate and have a brilliant Sunday in the North.

      @ArcticNatureExperiences 3 місяці тому +1

      @NBNatureTrailvan Incidentally ticks are almost nonexistent up here in the north, but you have mosquitoes and black flies in plenty. So I wear mosquito-repellent clothes which also give protection against ticks. Could be useful for you as well?
