FYI - even though middle mouse button doesn't work for some reason, you can still open assets in new tabs: hold down CTRL on your keyboard and left click the asset thumbnail(Windows, Chrome/Edge). Or, middle click the asset title, works, too.
Been enrolled in your Ultimate 2D Top Down Unreal Engine Course on Udemy for aa week or so now and have already learned so much from you, thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone :) Question though, I am looking to make a top down roguelike similar to enter the gungeon or brotato more recently, do you plan to teach anything relating for building out those types of games? Hey, thank you for taking the course :) That is something I'm also interested in, but generally I prefer to cover genres that work both in flat 2D and also as 2D/3D hybrids. I think that might be hard to realize for twin stick shooters like that since it could lead to issues with depth perception.
@@CobraCode Hmmm, good to know, so are you suggesting that the Zelda Dungeon Project in your course could not be used as a starting point for a roguelike??
@@AidanDowney95 It would definitely work for Flat 2D. Not quite sure how it would play out as a 2D/3D hybrid. Usually games that do something like that like cult of the lamb, don't have upward or downward animations for attacks and only for walking. I feel like you might have some awkward depth perception things to fight against, but can never know unless you try!

Yeah, change is always hard and I'm also not too fond of having to adjust to the new system. I think it is mostly to get the marketplace in line with their long term big picture goals for UEFN and the metaverse and have everything in one place. It is pretty cool that they support multiple platforms now, so this will allow us to get our hands on Unity assets without having to go through the laborious process of opening them up in Unity itself and extracting them. I think I have also heard that you will be able in the future to only pick and import certain assets of a pack instead of having to add the entire package to your project... but that might have just been a dream xD
@@CobraCode I share that dream. Hope it comes true. BBeing able to find individual meshes and other assets in a Bridge like plugin, preferably with an auto-loaded 3D preview, would be a game changer for Vault usability.
Thanks for letting us know about this Cobra. I plan on learning ue5 for environment creation soon. So will our Assets and any we grab will be free till end of this year or next year?
I'm trying to log to it but their servers are like ultra down. Guess I'll check it out a week later when everything stabilizes with their servers 😅 Hope they are able to mirror the site inside the client. I don't like to click an outside link to be able to check on Fab. The EPIC client needs a huge overhaul. Also, hope they allow us to tag our assets some day. I find it hard to browse the vault to find stuff for what I need by just the words on its name.
Fab has neither a review nor a questions feature and I have to open an additional browser window to use this. There are also no wishlists so far. It's a downgrade as far as I can tell
Since today you can just install the fab plugin from your library to open it up directly inside of Unreal Engine 5. (Under the 'windows' tab) I was also able to drag and drop assets directly from there. This was the big selling point for me... but yeah outside of that I'm also really unhappy with it in the current state and hope updates will happen soon...

it's garbage, no wishlist, new licence system is bad, no more review for assets, added garbage from different platforms which clutters everything, lack of filters for research and sneaky sellers have nicely upped their prices. Thanks Epic for catering to your customers :)

I read the license on FAB, but just to confirm. I can still use the assets for commercial projects, even if they are free in the markeplace, correct?

Unreal has been buying up 3d asset store pages and is now merging them all together

Assets from the previous store and Fab are inaccessible to Linux Developers because Epic doesn't release a store for the Linux Unreal Editor build.

Does anyone have the same problem that you can't download the PaperZD plugin into the unreal engine library in FAB?
When I go to the PaperZD plugin in Fab, all I can do is 'View in Vault'. But then it doesn't even appear in the vault

The ones you can claim right now till the end of the year will be free AFAIK.
Not sure how it will be handled starting after that.

Yes
That's just the time window where you need to claim those assets. After that you can use them indefinitely.

You don't need a script just go to the store and there's a section to get all 17k assets in one click
First time I’m using it, so far I’m on the 5th epic login, I genuinely hate the epic games launcher and whatever tf this monstrosity is.

That was also the case with Unreal Marketplace tho.
At least uestore had better filter options. Fab practically has none
