Alice: Madness Returns - The Infernal Train, final boss and ending

This video basically features the final sequences of Alice: Madness Returns. To be more precise, the video starts around the last part of the Dollhouse visit and Alice's meeting with the Dollmaker, goes on with the Infernal Train as the very last level of the game and the final boss fight held there and ends with the final cutscene. Note that the video was recorded while playing on hard difficulty.
While it was initially developed as a full fledged level not different from the previous ones, the Infernal Train featured in the game proper is basically a tragically short area where all you have to do is to let Alice walk around, kickstart a bunch of cutscenes that give closure to the plot and have the final boss fight of the game. Considering the Train spots arguably the best visuals and design of the entire game, it's kind of a letdown.
The Dollmaker is arguably the only boss fight featured in Madness Returns and the last battle you must win before reaching the ending. The fight has two different phases:
- In the first phase you must destroy the Dollmaker's hands, one at a time. Each hand will keep attacking you till its weak spot, a huge doll head, will lack its tar shield and will be opened to your attacks. Hitting the doll head will cause the hand to collapse, which allows you to get several easy hits in. The Dollmaker's hands can dish out several attacks, but all of them can be more or less dodged easily with Alice's evasion move. In this phase the boss will also summon some basic Ruins, which at this point should be a mere nuisance to you (they also drop roses upon death to recover your health).
- The second and last phase is kicked in when both hands of the Dollmaker have been dealt with. In this phase the boss will sometimes expose his long tongue to your attacks while summoning some Floating Ruins: you must try to ignore the Ruins and aim straight at the tongue with a ranged weapon since it's the boss' only weak point now. Whenever the Dollmaker doesn't expose his weak spot he will send again his hands after you: they very much act like they did in the first phase, only now they are more aggressive and have also a tricky grabbing attack that is harder to dodge and will consume a nice chunk of Alice's health over the time if it hits. This was a fantastic game. Colors,storyline,and design But damn it was so stressful lol
I also wish there were more proper boss battles. The first game had a whole list of bosses

I have seen many despicable figures and villains in stories but few compare to Dr. Bumby/the Dollmaker in terms of how vile and low they can truly be.

Not all of them are like that
True psychologists are in their line of work to help people. That's why Dr. Bumby was such a bastard: he used his line of work to do the exact opposite and worse, he preyed on the most vulnerable. Not to mention the fucker is a murdering pedophile, so that alone is worth pushing him in front of a train. There's bad people in every line of work, Alice didn't have enough people to trust to keep her safe and couldn't trust herself in her madness.

The Mad Hatter is either referring to:
- Alice causing her parents' death (which we know it's untrue at this point)
- Either Alice trying to forget or witnessing the other children do the same
I think she saw the psychologist enter the house and was on his way to her sisters room. But rather than scream or speak up, she remained in bed in fear. Her crime was that she didn't do anything. I think that's what I got from it.
That's exactly it. It isn't what she did, it was what she didn't do. She did nothing, and her sin was inaction.

Kind of a bit of both. She’s accepted her madness in a healthy way, but she’s also placing a foot in reality, ending the toxic madness. As such, the two worlds she knows are blurring together.
She's even more bonkers but is in a far better place emotionally.

The point is that he was killed by the train, the same metaphor he use to take control of her mind, he fell in his own trap, and he is not a bad villain, he is despicable as he should be, the point of his character is that a man with much power never will look like the villain, as he said, no one would believe someone as respected and inteligent as him to be this evil, and Alice as the "crazy one" would not be taken seriously if she accused him.
Thats why it was more easy to just push him in the train, he would probably not be punished by his actions, so she just killed him there.
