This is not a version, this is the original as she wrote the lyrics of the song.
More precisely she wrote it in italian then co-wrote this english version.
I will post more details in another comment.

Yes this is a version, the italian one, and the vocal arrengement was written by Remo Giazotto based on the Albinoni's neo barroque piece. But there are many other versions of Adagio performed by different artists in different languages.
      The history of Adagio.
Albinoni's Adagio or Adagio in G minor, whose original title is Adagio in Sol minore per archi e organo su due spunti tematici e su un basso numerato di Tomaso Albinoni (E 26), is a neo-baroque piece for strings and organ in G minor . His work was originally attributed to the 18th-century Venetian composer Tomaso Albinoni, but was actually composed in 1945 by the Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto.
The second version was written in 1984 by the spanish singer Dyango who recorded his hit “Adiós a la tristeza” from the album Al fin solos with the music of Albinoni's Adagio.
      Another version was also written
In 1984,by the Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen released a version under the name "Icarus' Dream Suite Op.4" on his debut album Rising Force. In 1985, Camilo Sesto, used the musical basis of Albinoni's Adagio to add lyrics of his own, which he dedicated to his father Eliseo Blanes, who died in 1982. The resulting song was titled "While my soul feels", credited to Camilo Blanes/ Tomaso Albinoni and was published on his album Tuyo in 1985.
In 1985, singer Annie Haslam of the progressive rock group Renaissance, in her second solo production, performed a version called "Save us All", on the album Still Life with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Louis Clark. In 1995, Ricardo Montaner performed it in a version called “Adaggio al amor” included on the album “Viene del alma”. In 1998, the soprano and classical crossover singer Sarah Brightman released a song called Adagio, "Anytime, Anywhere" based on this piece on her album Eden. In 2001, Chilean singer Myriam Hernández recorded Camilo Sesto's version for her live album Love in Concert. In 2001 the Spanish singer Rosa López covered the song in the program Operación Triunfo 2001 under the name "Ausencia". In 2003 she included it in her second album Ahora. In 2008 Adagio»Simple from Il Divo from the album The Promise. In 2023 the choral group Libera used it, using the lyrics of the Ave verum corpus,[3] for one of its most successful video clips.
Then comes the Lara Fabian's version and the cover of hers by Dimash.
Albinoni's Adagio Iis also performed by many orquestras around the world.
All versions has the same Albinoni's melodic base, and every each of them are beautiful and very unique on their own.

You said something about how it fit her voice, and there's a reason why you feel that. This song came from her very soul, her DNA. It's a love song to the god of inspiration, as Adagio, begging him to never abandon her. It speaks to the unexplainable connection to wherever songwriting comes from, and the fear of losing that. It lives under her skin and she'll always be waiting at "the piano that plays". This is how important being a songwriter is to her. She calls herself a "songwriter with a voice". So of course, any song that deeply personal is going to fit the original voice like a glove. This is why, for me, no cover sounds nearly as good, and it's not about anyone's talent, it's about where it comes from. Welcome to the Lara rabbit hole! Luckily for both her and us, she hasn't been abandoned yet and is still writing beautiful songs. She's so good she's managed to escape the dreaded curse of everything starting to sound the same. She's an extraordinary full package performer! She doesn't just sing you a song, she becomes it.

She is 54 now and stil sings ... But stil has a lot of power in her voice and the same story telling. GOAT in this. She mesmerises with her fillings and persuation. And that's what Dimash has to learn from her (of course is easier for her as it is her fluently speaking language). I love them both alike. Lara as warm preacher, Dimash with his beautiful voice tone and alien abilities.

She moved to Montreal and founded her own record company, Clandestina Productions. Her collaborator and producer, Rick Allison (whom she met in a bar in Brussels), joined her in Montreal and they worked hard writing and recording songs.
(She arrived in Canada when she was 20 years old, so she would already be a very adult teenager)

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version:
it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love.
    ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html
Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version:

Then a russian version was created for Lara in 2014, with another story, titled "Love of Tired Swans ».
When Dimash covered it in 2018, very few words changed, just a few to reflect the fact it was a male who was singing it.
Know: the music is from Igor and it was initially a pure vocalization by Lara, only one sentence in the song. The song was initially titled Vocalize but her fans instead referred it as "Ascolta La Voce" which is the sentence used in the song.
When Dimash covered it, the lyrics were created for him and you can consider it a new song indeed.

@@ericsicard910 Well, they are not Lara's songs per ce, they are Igor's. Lara is not the owner of the rights. Dimash's versions are not covers. They are his songs and Igor's, and as such they are in Igor and Dimash's joined album of 2021. I know that you know of Lara, but when you decide to compare her with someone else, try to find all the facts about that other singer too, otherwise what exactly do you compare or why mention the name of the other singer at all. Dimash enjoyed not only Lara as a singer when he was a kid, but many other singers as well. They might have been his stepping stones, but he never tried to emulate them. Never tried to imitate them. Remember, Dimash is a highly educated musician, he reads scores. Even for the competitions he worked out his own interpretations of the songs, let alone for his albums. Just enjoy Lara, you don't need Dimash to show how great she is.

In the music world, Ithe word "cover" is not attached to credits and rights, it is related to who has performed the song on first place, the original singer/performer.
So Yes Dimash covers Love of Tired Swans by Lara.
For Know, you are right, this is not really a cover, we can consider it a brand new song by Dimash.

She is beyond great, a real showmanship performance with emotion, acting, movement and the entire package. Probably one of the best “performers” with the voice of an angel. Two other showstoppers of Lara’s are Je Susie Malade (French) and Caruso (Italian) incomparable !

Once again the very beautiful, very strong but always velvety voice of Lara Fabian in all her 4.2 octaves range.
Dimash has a bigger range but Lara has had a big influence on the singing and performances of Dimash, just like Lara had on many other singers later on . That is way Lara is the idol of Dimash.
Lara wrote the lyrics on this old classic music composition Adagio in English and in Italian .
Many times Lara writes more lyrics in 2 or 3 different languages on the same composition of her own songs....
Lara also sings, performs and records this songs in the different languages herself.
I prefer the Italian version of Adagio, Italian is a more colored language.

Dimash sang two of Lara's songs. Adagio, because it gave him the change to showcase his vocal abilities during a competition, a brilliant decision by the way, he killed it and won the round. The second is a song composed for her by Krutoy. Lara graciously offered her song rights to Dimash to perform his male version of the song as a gesture of admiration and respect of his talent. Yes, Dimash respects and admires Lara as a singer, but to speak of big influence on his singing and performance is completely unfounded.

I would say that Lara Fabian is telling a story, and is embodying the lyrics with her voice. Dimash is a showman. And don't get me wrong, I love too what dimash is doing.
It is interesting to compare "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" from Daniel Balavoine (the original singer) to see a more intimistic version (note that's way less explosive than dimash version. Way way less. But I really like both interpretations).
Otherwise I recommend you "je suis malade" from Lara Fabian (in the same concert)(with english and french subtitles) to see a masterclass.

Dimash has an incredible voice and technique, insane vocals but sometimes the showcase of his range surpass the emotion of the song itself imo. Lara interprets the songs she sings, every word and even facial gesture is on point with the emotion she's singing about, that and her also incredible vocals and insane control she has. Would love to see you reacting to her performance of Je Suis Malade in this same concert, that clip is a masterclass of vocal control, technique and interpretation.

Organizers led him to understand that anything other than coming 1st in the 6th round would end his competition dream. So he gave it (more than) his all for his Adagio cover. Remember the Adagio that most people have seen by Dimash that was in a competition setting he has sung it many times in concert and it is different. This is her original so she is the blue print she sings this as a woman grown with maturity. He sings it like a young man yearning and reaching a very different take but both are AMAZING.

the music video came out in 1999 and that's a theatre/bar in Montreal i think ( Club Soda ) and that was shortly after the release. oh cool chatGPT knew it, Lara Fabian performed at Club Soda in Montreal in 1999, around the time she introduced "Adagio" to her audience. This venue is well-known for hosting a variety of musical performances and would have been an ideal location for Fabian's show before her move to the US. The music video for "Adagio" was released around this period, either just before or after her performance at Club Soda. This performance marked an important moment in her career as she transitioned to an international audience. (unless chatGPT is just repeating what i said in my question )

      ChatGPT
Yes, you're correct. The Club Soda show in Montreal in 1999 was part of Lara Fabian's efforts to prepare for her entry into the U.S. market. During this period, she was promoting her first English-language album, which featured many songs in English, including "Adagio." This performance at Club Soda was significant as it marked her transition from primarily French-language music to a more international, English-speaking audience. The show helped her to test and refine her English repertoire before embarking on her U.S. promotional activities and concerts.

Dimash would be the first to be happy you liked Lara's version as Lara has been his idol as he'd been growing into his own artistry. She didn't know about Dimash until Dimash's cover was brought to her attention and she sent him a congratulatory note about it. They have total respect for one another, and even though Lara is closer to the end of her career, she and Dimash sang several duets together. Lara can emote emotions in her songs as nobody else can, and even both performers' characters are similar as you could not find two more humble singers despite their immense talent. Lara did not have the exposure of the internet during her heyday, but through Dimash's (and other artists' such as Floor Jansen) covers people are rediscovering her for the first time. I'm a superfan of Dimash, but I agree with you that Lara sings it better (in part because of Dimash's weak English, and also because his tone was more shrill before he got even better after "The Singer" competition). I believe that Lara sang "Mademoiselle Hyde" also better than Dimash. These are not even her best songs. Her cover of "Je suis malade" is the epitome of acting/emoting, so much so that nobody even remembers the original by Serge Lama. Her "Caruso" was described by the original singer as the best version, despite so many superstars having covered it, including the great Pavarotti. Have fun reacting to this wonderful, and lovable living legend.
