Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides.
Her fanbase knew it and wanted to show support and they used this song, her biggest hit, in France, but also in Russia and Eastern Europe, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”.
I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her.
It shows how benevolent and humble she is.
The song itself is a gem, her most famous french hit, massive also in russia and eastern europe, and she has performed it in many different ways: for example intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999, subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité tour.
“Je t’aime” was written by Lara Fabian and Rick Allison, her music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

As I understood the information, the audience sings especially for Lara to give her strength and love again. She probably had a very difficult time, personally and professionally, and was about to give up her career. The pianist knew what was happening or had it coordinated with the audience. It is very touching, the audience has changed the text and sings "We love you" instead of "I love you". Lara is obviously completely overwhelmed and fortunately overcome the hard times and still sings.

She lived in Italy for a few years and visited often, As far as I know she grew up in Belgium, where she did all her schooling.

I see that other people have already commented about how the crowd was saying “we love you“ and she was replying with “I love you“. The other comments have also talked about how she was going through a really tough time and the audience knew about it and they planned this way of telling her that she was loved by them. It’s even more touching when you get that. At one point just before she was starting to sing, someone in the audience yelled “don’t sing Lara”, basically saying that they were going to sing to her … about how they loved her. The reply she said near the beginning is something along the lines of “you caught me off guard“. Anyway, this is the most amazing audience interaction I’ve ever seen. It would’ve been amazing to be there. I’m so glad they gave that gift to her … and to everyone who gets to watch it like us. And yes, I’m not ashamed to say that every time I watch it I end up with tears in my eyes

I believe she's Belgian/Italian. Speaks 4 languages, and sings in about 14 languages. She moved to Canada for a long bit. I speak 5 languages but can barely hum in one.🤣

The music industry is filled with entertainers that claim to love their fans but perform for them as just another paying customer. When Lara sings it is as if she is singing just to you in a manner that connects with every member of the audience. She is magical, and in every performance that she puts her heart into the fans feel the love she has for them and in this case decided to serenade her and show the love back (the chorus line is "I love you" but the audience changed it to 'We love you). So sad that because of a few record labels and the deals they made with certain people, us in America have missed out on what the rest of the world has enjoyed, a truly legendary performer. Thank you Lara we will always love you and thank you Saeed for your reaction video, there is so much more you will discover and enjoy from this talented lady.

The thing is….She began her career in Canada(Québec, French side)
She’s a powerhouse, a masterclass for other singers… In the US, she was on the same disc company as Céline Dion and Sony wants her to sing Withney Houston style and she refuse, wanted to keep her own style. So she sold 3M discs in the US but let the field to Celine and concentrate her energy for Europe and Québec where she began….

Als Vlaming heb ik haar ook pas sinds enkele maanden leren kennen. Ze heeft aan Eurovisie deelgenomen voor Luxemburg, het jaar dat Celine Dion won voor Zwitserland. Haar nummer Adagio en haar versie van Caruso (beide live) zijn van een zodanig goed niveau, dat het schandalig is dat ze in Vlaanderen niet meer (geen) aandacht krijgt. Internationaal wordt ze bij de beste vrouwelijke stemmen gerekend, zoniet ‘de’ beste…. Thx
