She is half Italian half Belgian and became Canadian in 1995. Her English debut album in 1999 was quite a success worldwide with 4.5 millions copies sold. She is a big star in Canada and France as well as Eastern European countries.
Fantastic analysis. This is her original based on Albinoni's Adagio. She also wrote it in Italian. She composes & writes the majority of her songs (in French, English, Spanish and Italian). Calls herself a songwriter with a voice. Because of her deep understanding of effective song structure, all her covers are sublime. Yeeeeeeeessss! Finally Sam! 🥰 I have been waiting for your reaction to Lara! Isn't she just spectacular? You made my week! Truly! 🌷 There is a reason Dimash thinks so highly of her and have her as an inspiration. Another amazing performance is "Je suis malade" from the same live. There are english subtitles to that as well. Just incredible!
First congrats on pronouncing her name right. "Je suis malade" with eng.subs from the same concert is a must. Lara is criminally underrated vocalist with one of the best technique in the business.
I think it's less than she's underrated, but more that she's been unknown in the United states. It's a long story about why she didn't breakthrough in the U.S., partly her record label wanted to pigeon hole her into being a singer of dance songs, and Celine Dion's management who did all they could to sabotage her career. But thanks to UA-cam, people are now discovering this amazing woman.
@@abc456f You are absolutely right. I would even say that Céline used to say that she was not afraid of any singer in the industry. But to compete with Lara, the poor Céline knew, and mostly her dead husband, that Lara could easily compete with her. That is why, her husband threatened her producer to cancel her tours among other things...
Lara has been singing this way since 1985. Belting as a master with all those breathing and resonance controls. And even nowadays she keeps taking classical vocal lessons, but she uses to teach as well, she has been the vocal coach in TV shows like The Voice (in Canada and France) since 2004, and her pupils has always won the contest. She has been composing in 4 languages since she was a teenage, and she already released songs in 12 languages. She is fluently in 4 languages (Italian, English, French and Spanish), and she can have some comunication in Russian, Flemish and Portuguese. There are vídeos on UA-cam showing her language versatility skills in 12 languages and composing at the piano as well. She is 51 years and has starded singing professionaly in 1986 (when she released her first album and video clipe in Belgium), but her worldwild album only came out by 1990/91. Finally my dear!!. I'm so glad you did this!. I LOVE Lara. She's a beast!. Now you definitely need yo watch and react to her 'Je Suis Malade' live performance at this very same show. Caruso is another favorite!.
I could make a list of recommendations for you but won't, Lara has the ability to get deep into the story and live it, She has several tracks in French and Italian which you need to listen to. I can't say enough on how amazing this woman is. You will find her rendition of Caruso amazing, Je suis malade, je t'taime 2001 in Paris are my favourites (yes I know).Lara will use her breathing for effect. At the end of Malade you can see her struggling to get out of the song.

I am so happy that you finally took the advice of your followers. Interesting note: she and Dimash have a mutual admiration society. In fact they have some duets! And Igor Krutoy composes for them both. And I believe he is composing for Diana ankadinova. My you tube watching is confined to Dimash, Lara, Diana, and EXO. One of Lara’s most emotional songs is Je Sui Malade. Gotta watch it! I appreciate that you’ve continued to react. I’ve been following you for two years. Too many reactors disappear after a year or two, so thank you fir still being here.
She is simply amazing. She now sings this in the original key which is 1 semi-tone higher. If you do react to more of her I would love you to do some lesser reacted to videos such as 'You're Not From Here'.
Ohhh, I have been DYING for years to understand what she does in this fascinating little original song of hers through a real analysis by a pro. On the surface, there aren't the vocal pyrotechnics but there is so much amazingness going on. It is really an incredibly difficult piece but she keeps her technique/toolbox invisible to keep it sounding so gentle and easy-breazy. I want to know how. How?!? It fascinates me.
She has mastery of everything that refers to singing, she studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where she learned to place her voice, the type of breathing, she is not just any singer.
Lara Fabian took the original instrumental "Adagio in G Minor" by Albinoni and wrote lyrics for it. While this is fresh in your mind, watch Dimash's performance of the song on Singer 2017. That performance won Episode 6 for Dimash, and Lara sent him a congratulatory message. The other connection with Dimash is that Igor Krutoy has worked with Lara for years, with them collaborating on her 2010 album Mademoiselle Zhivago. This was made into a short movie with her as the star. When Dimash started collaborating with Mr.Krutoy, he covered some numbers from this project. You can also see Dimash sing "Ti Amo Cosi" with Lara and opera singer Aida Garifullina at Igor's 65th birthday celebration concert (on Y.Tube).
Albinoni's Adagio has long been my favorite "classical" piece so you can imagine I was in heaven when I discovered Fabian and her take on it. More than just writing lyrics, she shaped the 9 min piece into an incredible pop song. That ability is a real skill.. I admire that she is a composer responsible for incredible original melodies as well as a lyricist. An all-around artist.

Despite being unknown to many, she was able to captivate the crowd. Gosh, at around 3/4 of the way (in ending the song), one by one the audience started to stand up and clap their hands. ending on a standing ovation. It showed the greatness (mastership) in her.
Thanks for the reaction! You should definitely do Je Suis Malade next, but english subtitles are definitely necessary! I look forward to that reaction! Cheers!
Fantastic reaction and analysis! You clearly know your stuff! I have never heard anyone who could employ so many different effects in one song, on top of beautifully intricate melodies, without ever once sounding like a show off or just over the top. Her choices are impeccable every single time. As for Adagio, it is a love song to the powers of inspiration, begging for them to not abandon her. It is such a very personal plea for her, that I can't really appreciate anyone else trying to cover it. No matter how good they are. It is her song, from her very soul. This is what being a songwriter means to her. I hope you will do more Lara!
Celine has nice voice to listen, but Lara lives her songs. She in so deeply in them sometimes, that Celine can only imagine. Lara has voice which touches you deeply ❤️ Love and thank you for your nice reaction ❤️❤️❤️
Helo sir.... You have to listen from Lara Fabian je suis malade with english subtitle and Caruso.....you will be shocked for sure. Two of the most amazing performance I ever seen
there are only two singers in this world who will hold you emotionally from start to finish, these are the best storytellers around. Lara Fabian and Floor Jansen.
Only the best female pop vocalist of all time. She belts them with emotional impact in 12 languages!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a UA-cam video titled “ Lara sings in 12 languages” In addition she co-wrote many. And this live 90s concert is mine ( and many other professional vocalists) the best 90s concert of all time. -Al
This was great!! Such an interesting analysis. Thank you! Je suis malade (with English subtitles) should be next! It will also blow you away. It’s honestly the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Off the chart emotions. I subscribed and can’t wait for the next Lara reaction 😊
Everything she does is purposeful. She inhabits the character in every song. Brilliant. Another song that she’s wrote , ‘Broken Vow’ from this sad concert. Actually, this entire concert is loaded with one jewel after another. If I were given a time machine , I would go back to 1997, sit in the front row of this concert, “From Lara with Love”, more than many times.
Sam...Dimash idolized Lara when he was growing up and actually learned "Adagio" from her version. She was a co-writer of this great song. BTW, Dimash finally met Laura at the Igor Krutoy 65th birthday celebration and the joined opera great Aida Garifullina in a trio of "Ti Amo Cosi" which is magnificent.
You're not the only one to 'discover' Lara late. I did also, only a few months ago, but now am a massive fan. Many professional singers have described her performances as professional master classes also. Her Mother was Sicilian, her Father is Belgian & she spent many years in Canada. Lara is classically trained, composes & sings in several languages. I have seen NO performer who so thoroughly inhabits a song with the subtlety, nuance & power of Lara. Particularly songs about love & loss. She was performing & composing with the Russian master composer: Igor Krutoy long before Dimash & is very well known & beloved across Europe and also in Canada. Dimash cites her as a major role model during his studies & remains an avid admirer and they have now performed together as well - with Igor. The comparison with Celine is understandable. They both spent their formative years in French speaking pats of Canada, had similar training at similar times and therefore also somewhat similar presentation styles, however, whilst I am also an admirer of Celine, I believe Lara has a broader and more subtle mastery of her instrument. [ That's just my personal preference. Keep your hats on Celine fans, there's enough love for both! ] # See also Lara's stunning performance of 'Caruso'. Also, on this topic, whilst Lara has always declared herself an admirer of Celine I'm not sure that this courtesy has been reciprocated. There is some historical sensitivity around this comparison as some malicious players - I believe originating in France? - set up a false professional competition & rumour mill between the two, whilst also attacking Lara's reputation, both personally and professionally, which Lara found deeply painful. This resulted in her leaving France & not performing there for some time. { # To see how her French fan's reassured her of their loyalty you had best NEXT REVIEW 'je taime' in Paris 2001. > Fair Warning: if you do this you'd better get the tissues out ready! } For yet another 'Fabian Master Class' one can't go past the incredibly powerful ' Je Suis Malade'. Enjoy.
I’ve only discovered her because I was Obsessed with Outlander & her song was on the compilation video. Wow she is beyond brilliant, I now listen to her everyday, cant get enough. Love her emotions bringing every lyric to life. Your emotions are fab too. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺👍🏼💃🏻💝
Great analyse! She is such an emotional master. She really sucks you in and hold you until the song is finished. Great technique of course but it's also who she is, her personality, how in contact she is with her emotions, her guts to lose herself totally to make the lyrics justice. Amazing woman. Thanks!
Thank You. I subscribed, I liked, I love. Great analysis, really really good. Lara is the deep end of the pool. Once you enter, you will not be able to get out. You will not want to. She writes most of her songs, she sings well in at least 6 languages well (her Italian and french are perfect and I saw one in Hebrew, not the easiet of languages to sing in)), and has reported to have sung in 12 languages (unverified). If you turn the sound OFF, you will still be mesmorized, The greatest performer\artrist\songwriter\singer of the last 30 years. The Queen. I am very envious of you...you have entered a journey, an exploration of Lara, where the first time through is insanely magical. I remember my journey, like it was yesterday. Finally, it needs to be said, always, always choose a live performance (with subtitles) as Lara live is unbeatable and she sings in languages I do not speak.... her words are always true, sincere, powerful.
Hey, Sam! You really pointed out the most important things in very short time. Wait 'till you hear more of her, you are in for a treat! ❤️ The "Filthy" move comment made me laugh...and your singing voice is beautiful. The deeper, warm and breathy tone you used as an example, sounded wonderful!
One of the only pieces of hers where I recommend the official video. 🤭 Otherwise, she's such a revelation in live performance. Live always seems to unleash the beast in her.
Thank you for your expert reaction. I learned so much about the greatest voice on the planet. Please react to her Broken Vow and Caruso. Both make me cry out with joy. Thank you.
LOL You know her for sure. When she got International and the pick other popularity was when "From Sarah with Love" I am pretty sure you have heard that song. It was playing everywhere nonstop!
She’s a technical beast. She has years of training obviously to explain that mastery. But she’s also an interpreter in my book. Not just a singer. Lara on stage is both an auditive and visual experience. No matter what’s she’s singing, she’s always IN the song, IN the character. It’s probably been mentioned in the comments but she started singing “professionally” when she was in her late teenage years. Her dad would take her to a pub/piano bar in Brussels and she would sing in front of strangers. She has mentioned a time when a fight broke out at the bar, and she kept singing like nothing was happening around her. It apparently attracted the attention of some promoter. The rest is history. Lara is one of the greatest voices I have ever heard (without poking in the lyric/opera singers obviously). She still has this technique nowadays, even though she’s toned down her vocal intensity. But she demonstrated she could still reach high notes and sustained belts recently. Look up Je suis malade, during the Star Académie in Canada this past year. Also you can basically react to all the songs from the same show Adagio is from: Broken Vow (which is breathtaking), Loved by Grace, You’re not from here, Je suis malade, and so on. Check her Nue concert back in 2002. Or her En toute intimité show. Too many to list, but these are some staple displays of Lara when she was slaying her vocals on stage.
"I can't believe you haven't heard about Lara before..." 😂 HIGHLY recommend "Je Suis Malade" w. French+English subs from the same "From Lara with Love" concert. But BRACE YOURSELF! I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of THE single best performances of any song ever. Just amazing, song + lyrics + performance.

Gosh, at around 3/4 of the way (in ending the song), one by one the audience started to stand up and clap their hands. ending on a standing ovation. It showed the greatness (mastership) in her.
Ok now you need to teach me how to sing this one! 😝
Loved your reaction and happy that you’ve found Lara finally 😉😎 looking forward for “Caruso” and “Je suis Malade” from her 🙏🏻 cheers mate
Celine has nice voice to listen, but Lara lives her songs. She in so deeply in them sometimes, that Celine can only imagine. Lara has voice which touches you deeply ❤️ Love and thank you for your nice reaction ❤️❤️❤️
I simply love your analysis. I always knew the voice was the greatest instrument, and you just help us grasp the rules of a great performance.
Helo sir....
You have to listen from Lara Fabian je suis malade with english subtitle and Caruso.....you will be shocked for sure. Two of the most amazing performance I ever seen
She's fabulous! Great reaction 😊❣
"Caruso" is stellar.
You really need to react to her singing Caruso and Je suis malade to see her full abilities, and why Dimash cites her as his biggest influence.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ive seen her live 3 times and each time has been amazing!
there are only two singers in this world who will hold you emotionally from start to finish, these are the best storytellers around.
I subscribed and can’t wait for the next Lara reaction 😊
the official video clip of this song is beautiful what they have done with the statues is almost magical thanks 4 sharing : )
That was an great first reaction to Lara. You really need to react to "Je suis malade" with english subs. It's an amazing performance.
Nice analysis. I subscribed to hear more reviews of Lara's Live performances...they are the best.
THANK YOU!!!!!! She blows me away. Loved seeing your reactions...Goosebumps every time!
Great reaction of a wonderful performance. First time watching you. Thanks for the reaction. Check out her live version of Je Suis Malade.
Just incredible!!!!
Lara is the best singer of the fucking world!!!!!!!!
I agree!! I suspect she is the best singer in the universe!!
This version is the standard as Lara co-wrote the lyrics !
Nice one Sam. It's amazing what comes from Brussels these days. Like our Lara. She's pretty amazing though.
I subscribed 2 months ago to hear more reactions to Lara Fabian....and there's nothing more! : / I'm gone
LAra Fabian is just out of category
Wow loved your experienced reaction. You truly know what your talking about!! I agreed with every reaction you had.
{ # To see how her French fan's reassured her of their loyalty you had best NEXT REVIEW 'je taime' in Paris 2001. > Fair Warning: if you do this you'd better get the tissues out ready! }
For yet another 'Fabian Master Class' one can't go past the incredibly powerful ' Je Suis Malade'.
When I listen to Celine Dion, I get major Lara Fabian vibes.
Great analyse! She is such an emotional master. She really sucks you in and hold you until the song is finished. Great technique of course but it's also who she is, her personality, how in contact she is with her emotions, her guts to lose herself totally to make the lyrics justice. Amazing woman. Thanks!
Sweet man! Sweet voice! Thank you!
Bravo!
Performing live def brings out the beast in her. Astonishing.
(Though Mlle. Zhivago "music vids" are worthwhile, esp. Mademoiselle Hyde and Llora.)
She is a Goddess.
Her version of _Caruso_ is incredibly beautiful and deeply moving - especially if you know what the song is about. Gets me every time.
Very interesting reaction. Thank you.
Enjoyed watching this reaction. You did it good.
Hey, Sam! You really pointed out the most important things in very short time. Wait 'till you hear more of her, you are in for a treat! ❤️ The "Filthy" move comment made me laugh...and your singing voice is beautiful. The deeper, warm and breathy tone you used as an example, sounded wonderful!
I really love her singing Mademoiselle Hyde, that’s another that Dimash has covered.
One of the only pieces of hers where I recommend the official video. 🤭
Otherwise, she's such a revelation in live performance. Live always seems to unleash the beast in her.
I envy you hearing her for the first time!
You have to hear her version of Perdere L’amore with english subtitles. What a performance and what a song what a lyrics.😍
You should react to her live version of caruso ! A masterpiece !
From the concert From Lara With Love.
Sublime phrasing and emotionality.
i watched about 40 analysis of this espicific song, the one you had there impressed me so much, wow. (sorry for bad english as i'm french)
Thank you for your expert reaction. I learned so much about the greatest voice on the planet. Please react to her Broken Vow and Caruso. Both make me cry out with joy. Thank you.
There is one video called lara vs lara vs lara comparing her 3 decade career vocally. Showing the same notes through time and its amazing
other songs, from the same concert, "Broken Vow", "Je suis malade", "Love by Grace" and more. Thanks for your professional reaction ad analysis.
C est la meilleure et elle demeure au Québec Canada , elle chante toujours aussi bien …..yesssss
Great analysis not to mention you are amusing as well!
Una de las grandes cantantes...Quédate...en español u castellano...es increíble.....gracias...!!!!
really interesting video....! great analysis full of tehcnic ;) THX mister !
great reaction...thanks
It’s a signer you’ll never forget
You most see je suis malade live (with english suptitles), from lara fabian. Sry for my english
Fantastic, more
Hi, thank you for this lovely reaction. Please i'm very interested to hear your analysis of her voice on the following songs : Yentel, Broken vow , Caruso , Je suis malade & finally you're not from here. She's the best singer for me & especially she's a very very nice person. Would love to hear your analysis .
Thanks for sharing with us these moments. Regards
