I love that you somehow immediately manage to make these interviews go a lot deeper than is typical, like I've seen a couple on Ryan's Supra that spend half the time on the styling and feel of the car, but not a word on like how he managed to acquire the engine. Still really bummed you guys have so little subscribers despite this quality in content.
I originally slated this car for using the Judd engine for drifting , saying it was not a suitable engine and probably drop a valve . So so pleased they went to time attack . I watched quite a lot of the documentaries of the build and was very impressed yet cringed when they first went out on a demo run thinking that engine ain’t going to last . Ironically just as these guys it was Georg Plasa and his Judd e36 that has influenced and inspired my journey. We’re half way through a super light e36 GTR with 750bhp 😵💫. Definitely not an easy task considering the only un touched un modified components from the original shell are the rear lights and steering rack 😂. Great interview guys 👍🇬🇧
I am so glad someone finally used a Judd engine in this car. Though I am out of the racing game currently, we built a 10,000 rpm 2.0L Subaru engine and one Norstar engine. High RPM engines is where my heart is at. Really miss the Subaru engine it was a one of a kind build.z Hope to see this Judd go for a long time yet.
Pretty sure you're just throwing around indignant incendiary statements to get people to suck your egocock. For anyone who has matured beyond seeking validation via denigration.. Using exclusive language like "genuine enthusiasts" outed any validity to your perspective and really just made you sound like a preteen defending their treefort. Cars are cars, racing is racing. Hell I'd be into nuclear fusion powered cars, if there were such a thing. There are plenty of "genuine enthusiasts" that are into EVs. Alas your treefort is safe. No need to respond, take care.
damn, this was one of my favorite builds series in YT, I miss getting the notifications about it and seeing Ryan goofing around Dom at the workshop 😂 nice to see car the car back on track! great interview!!
The Judd V10 is amazing, I remember seeing the Ferrari 333SP's race in IMSA WSC from 1994-1999. A few of the teams ran this motor and it's a symphony to hear in person.
Great build, I'm lucky enough to have heard Georg Plasas e36 with the same engine in person. There's just something special about high revving na engines. Must be a riot to drive.
Georg Plasa was using the 3.4 V8 Judd in his Cars and not the V10, nevertheless it’s great to see that he had such a great influence worldwide with his builds. RIP Georg, you’re a legend.
He says the engine needs to be rebuild every 3000 km. In a racing scenario where the engine is being stressed for many laps and seasons I can fully understand this. But let's say if this Supra was used as a regular road car, would the rebuild intervals need to be the same? How durable are these engines in a daily driven scenario as a street car.
At some point, I really want to make a crazy project. Not pure track crazy, but a super hot street build. I want an EG Civic coupe with a light turbo K24, maybe 300-ish horsepower. All the hot stuff. Ohlins coilovers. Brembo brakes. Quaife sequential. Rollcage. But done properly. Very clean, very street. Full interior. And a wacky bodykit, neon lights and a full Itasha anime waifu wrap. I want to build a sleeper which is a sleeper by being as un-sleeper as possible.
Probably i didn´t heard it, but whats the weight of that thing ? Awesome to see that kind of enthusiasm, to build such a car, this kind of engine, wether if V8 or V10 is like a holy grail in motorsports, there is not many more to be and of course its a lot easier to put a big turbo on the machine and get power, more than you need.
I believe it was around 1100kg without driver for this event as published by WTAC (as in you didn't miss it, we didn't ask in the interview sorry!) 😎 - Taz. worldtimeattack.com/index.php/ryan-tuerck-formula-supra/
I’d love to see this thing evolve with full unlimited active aero and turbos to compete against something like the Porsche RP968. I know he asked Judd about the possibility of turbocharging it and they met him with the 😐 face. I think I remember the Kyle Engineering page mentioning collabing on an Indy V8 powered Honda S2000 as well. If that ever gets off the ground, we could see some psychotic head to head matchups.
FD drivers are fun, they went through an era where it was all about getting more horsepower and they settled at 3x the hp they used to compete with, on machines that they’re able to control with incredible precision. The latest season wasn’t very competitive but it showed the power that teams had over individuals for the first time. Smart minds with loose regulations will always be able to go beyond what we think is possible.
