My wife and I are bringing our 3 young boys for the first time to pog lake in 13 days and we can’t wait ! We changed our booking from anther camp ground to this one based on your recommendation , your videos are great and so informative. Thank you and keep em coming !
We usually go there in August. We try to stay further south at this time of year. Be prepared for black flies. Have some good bug jackets and mosquito repellent. I love watching your videos. Just one critique, I notice I have to adjust the volume a lot as the music is really loud, so I turn it down, then when you talk it is too quiet. Just something to think about going forward. Not sure if it is just me.

Seeing you with your kids was quite amazing. We are set to pick up our new trailer from Rustons in the next week or two. We figured this was the best time to get started as we have 3 young children under 6. Hopefully they still love camping in their teens. Some great memories to be made!
That's awesome that you're going to create some great family memories to last a lifetime. Our kids were 15, 13 and 12 when we got our first travel trailer. We all loved it and we realized that we should have done it years earlier. In this video our very young looking kids are actually 24, 22 and 21 years old. They all have full time jobs now and don't get out camping with us much anymore. However we all go camping together for Thanksgiving each year. A tradition we're trying to keep alive. On a side note, Ruston is where we bought our current travel trailer. Very happy with the service they provided. Happy camping!

Just love your channel. Took my family camping first time to Bruce Pen on Canada day weekend. Since then this became our thing to watch haha.. We went tent camping at Killbear/Grundy this week and planing go to Pog Lake and Bon Echo next week lol. Your videos are awesome and can't wait to watch more!

As we had said earlier, we spent 4 overnights over the long weekend at Pog Lake. We also visited Ostongue River-Ragged Falls on Saturday and Arrowhead on Sunday. We think we were a week late as people told us that the peak had been just the last week. It was extremely crowded. Over 30% leaves had fallen, but it was still spectacular. We did hiking trails after hiking trails. Your video came in very handy indeed.

That's awesome! I'm glad we helped inspire you. Pog lake is our favourite place, especially with a waterfront site. We were at Pog last year and stayed for 7 days. We don't have a honey wagon (tote waste tank) so on day four we hooked up and drove to the dump station to empty the black and grey tanks and top up the fresh water tank. This year we are doing a lot more parks and we are usually stay 3 or 4 nights at a park before moving on to the next park. That works out great as we are reaching tank capacity when it's time to move on anyway. If you plan on doing longer stays at parks it might be worth investing in a honey wagon like this one amzn.to/3C64gVS Happy camping!

If you have bikes, the old railway trail to the Lake of Two Rivers store is a good ride. Kayaking or canoeing Pog Lake into the Lake of Two Rivers is a nice easy paddle. Algonquin's visitor centre is great. The logging museum is pretty cool for an outdoor walk. It's a great park. Happy camping!
As there are so many campgrounds within Algonquin, which one(s) do you think would be best for a first timer at Algonquin, family of 6, tenters? We love to hike, beaches, fishing. Hubby isn't a fan of boats / water so we have never done any canoeing or kayaking at this point.
We loooooved Cannis Bay. 2 times. Pog Lake looks really good too.

Hi Cole Family! Just discovered your channel as we have 6 camping trips this year😊....question...when you are not taking your dog along does he stay at the campground by himself? Is that usually okay to do?....we will be bringing our Labrador with us but are worried about some activities we might not be able to bring him along to...thanks so much in advance...am really loving your channel!
Ontario Parks says to not leave dogs unattended. That makes sense because they want dogs always under control so as not to disturb other campers and wildlife and also to keep the dog safe. We have a new to us dog and didn't know how he would be alone in the trailer. I set up a camera in the trailer and left him for about an hour but was just two sites over. I never heard anything. We went back to check on him and check on the recording and found that he just laid on the bed and looked out the window. We did further tests when camping with friends that were camped next to us. We left the dog and asked the friends to monitor him. Upon return we were informed that no noise was made. So we are comfortable that he won't bother anybody left alone in the trailer. The other concern is the heat. If it is hot out and you need the air-conditioning on, I wouldn't leave the dog alone long because you never know if the power goes out, (which sometimes happens at parks). You don't want your best friend in a hot box of a trailer. If the temperature is cool enough that AC isn't needed we'll leave him for longer periods of time. It's your call. You know your dog best. I've been to parks where I've heard dogs barking for hours alone inside a trailer and it's not pleasant to listen to and concerning for the dog wellbeing.
Anyone have suggestions on a good water front site good for a family of 2 adults and 2 children (lots of space) tent camping? Electric or non electric
It looks like you had an interior campsite. where did you go for the water access around minute 3? We got site 119 but are hoping to find some water access to have the dogs swim !
We were at site 123 and our friends had site 120. Site 120 has direct access to the water and we usually went in there for the dogs to swim, us to swim and to launch kayaks and SUPs.
How do you find the bugs in Algonquin? we usually go end of August when there is none, but are thinking end of July this year.
We've never been to Algonquin in July. We always go August or later. In 2019 we went to Arrowhead which is very close to Algonquin. It was the 3rd week of July and the deer flies, horse flies and mosquitoes were CRAZY! It was also during a heat wave with the humidex temps being over 40C so that might have had something to do with it. That area of the province has always been bug territory in July, but hopefully it's better for you than what we experienced. Happy camping!

Hi! Ok so are the black flies as bad as everyone says in June? Should we be looking elsewhere for June if we have two small kids?
I've never been there in June and that's because I've gone interior camping in Algonquin, in the end of May many times when I was young. The black flies were horrendous. I don't have any reason to believe they would be any better in June. I try to only go camping in that area in August or later. I suggest you get bug jackets with hoods for everyone. Good luck.
I've only camped in Algonquin end of May but thats always right when they are just starting to come out. June is definitely the worst time for Black flies there. We did Killarney in June 2 years ago and blackflies were beyond horrible. Never again.
What sites are the water front sites?
Any info to help would be great.
In Campground A they are 117 to 134. Have a look at the Campground map. It's not every site between those numbers because some are on the other side of the road, but every site between those numbers that are on the water side. I know there are waterfront sites in B and C but I don't know the site numbers. Good luck and happy camping!

Yep, Season 1 and 2 with a GoPro Hero 7 Black and Season 3 with that camera and a Hero 9 Black.
how are the mosquitoes that time of year?
August is a great time for Algonquin Park. No mosquitos, black flies, deer flies etc.

Do you prefer Canisbay or Pog?
That's a tough one. Canisbay has really nice, big sites. The average site at Canisbay is probably nicer than at Pog. However, Pog has waterfront sites and Canisbay doesn't. We love waterfront sites. We'd probably say that we would prefer Pog if we could get a waterfront site but Canisbay if not. Really, we are splitting hairs here. Both are great campgrounds with access to everything Algonquin Park has to offer. You can't go wrong with either one.

We like Campground A waterfront sites, 115, 116, 117, 118,120, 122, 124, 126, 127,128,129,130, 132, 134. Water access for your canoes, kayaks or SUPs.

That's funny you got 136 when I stopped my recommendations at 134. I couldn't remember how high up the numbers go with a water access so I stopped at 134. 136 will be great too. Happy camping!

Sorry about that. That was our first season doing the videos and we were just figuring things out. I think they get better as the seasons progress. We're on season 4 now.
