I'm glad it's not just me! I'm playing for the first time, and while this mission wasn't my first loss in the Terran campaign, I was usually able to figure out what I messed up pretty quickly, adjust my strat and win next time. This mission, though, is just brutal, and I'm torn between pushing through to say I beat the entire campaign and just throwing in the towel and moving on...
Just FYI, vultures and spider mines break the Terran campaign if you use them correctly. They don't give you detection (other units can't see the ghost) but they hit and kill cloaked ghosts just fine :) In this mission, I just rush out mine research, then lay 10-15 mines in the east corridor. No turrets, no science vessels, no bunkers until much later on. Reynor also has 3 starting mines which I deploy immediately. Then I scatter mines all over the central ramps and paths. They eat ground attack waves for breakfast and help spot for air units incoming. I seal White onto his side of the map by mining all the bridges and then the only threat is air units (including annoying drop ship play with ghosts, so don't totally neglect turrets/science vessels!) The value from a single vulture is unreal. 1 mine can kill multiple marines with splash. 1 mine kills a goliath or ghost. 1 mine brings a tank down to half health. They ignore armor so they're stupidly good vs ultralisks. Due to hydras clumping, 3 mines can kill an entire attack wave!
Absolutely loved watching through this. I love the story of StarCraft, and I am sad that not enough people watched for you to continue it. All I could think about is how Age of Empires Definitive edition should have been more like this. Thank you so much for playing through the Terran campaign!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I wanted to continue playing but doing a series that not enough people watch is actually really harmful to the channel unfortunately. Thought I'd still go to the end of Terran and try for 100 APM though haha.
This levels jump in difficulty always made me use the "Power Overwhelming" cheat when I was a kid. Nukes, tanks, and battlecruisers always intimidated me
@@ramadhanmalik98 I recently replayed this campaign and i was like FFS was it this hard? I try to make a movie they rush at you with everything. Your starting base is tight as fuck, hard to even put supply depots without problems and build a proper army.
This was a bittersweet memory. I lost so many friends here. But my biggest disappointment was after I left Raynor in charge and told him not to simp after Kerrigan. And what does he do? Chases after her in Char not once but twice!!!! At the cost of so many of our men and equipment!
I think the best thing to do is to put rocket turret to the right of the base. Ghost's AI forces them to attack your command center and if detector is on its way, they shoot a nuke at it. Also putting siege tanks on ramps is a good idea, since it allows them to gain visibility and enemies deal less damage to targets on a higher ground.
There is a quicker way to complete this one: Create 3 or 4 Wraith groups, send them to the lower left corner and from there on a suicide attack on the cannon. This also works on other maps where you have to destroy a single target in order to win.
Back when Blizzard was THE standard of quality in the gaming world. Great storylines, immersive gameplay, the works. Hope you did Zerg and Protoss, will check shortly!
Unfortunately I didn't get around to playing the other campaigns. No one was really watching these videos at the time and I had to move on to something else.
I appreciate your video on this since I prefer to take a traditional approach to the campaign missions, not sure what I mean by traditional, but basically I underestimate how difficult the mission can be but I also don't want to cheat like I did back in the day and don't want to do a wraith pileup on the ion cannon. Your method is far more identical do how I tried to do it recently but I was too impatient and thought I wasn't going to make it. From your video, the main thing I learned is that I need to send larger quantities of units into red to have a chance, since I'd be so conservative in sending marines in (when there's really no reason to). Also liked and noted how you walked all your units off the ramp entirely first before pushing onto red (especially the second time with tanks). Definitely giving this a shot again today with some more realistic expectations lol
I like it how the tank and marine army was annihilated. The way I do it is to take out the red Base and then set up a serious network of turrets and go all out nukes. The Ghost are a complete nightmare here.
Today Mediolanum first part stream on Twich was already an amazing show :D Even more whit Counting.T.L.S coming by ^^ Can't wait for what's coming next ;-) It couldn't be better to continue with another such quality classic war game as Starcraft :-) Let's end up Terran campaign ! Personally I'd love to but I'm currently trying to make sure I can pay bills =P I think I'll let this campaign sit for a bit and see how the numbers do.
The answer to your question is yes, but it's complicated. A unit directly under a tree is considered to be in cover and it slightly increases the chance to miss. It works out to, on average, a unit under cover taking 1 more shot to kill. High ground actually gives a ~48% chance to miss for units on the low ground without vision (eg flying unit to spot). Units on the low ground also cannot initiate the first attack. When a high ground unit fires, the low ground units gain vision of it to shoot back, so being on low ground is a greater than 50% disadvantage in damage. All this stuff is critically important in professional broodwar actually, it means a much smaller army on high ground can hold off a much bigger army
Man this game looks good on your computer. I have the remastered version as well and even though it looks good, it doesn't compare to what yours looks like. I heard it also depends on the monitor we use right?
If my video looks good on your monitor, your monitor should be fine unless you're not on a 1080p display. Do you know your monitor's resolution? Also, just to be sure, make sure you don't have retro graphics turned on in-game.
lol I am aware that I can switch between retro graphics and HD graphics. It's pretty cool and thought it look very nice on my computer and then I saw your video and a few others and noticed that mine is nowhere near as good as everybody else's. I am not sure what my screen resolution is. What is the best way to check? Cus right now my monitor is running 1680 x 1050
Haha just had to be sure. If your monitor is running at 1680 x 1050 that is most likely what your monitor is. That's a less common resolution though, are you on a laptop? I'd guess your monitor can't go up to 1080p, which is why my display looks a bit better as that's 1920 x 1080. Just a lot more pixels.
GamerZakh oh okay that makes sense. No I am running a desktop computer but the computer is 7 years old which is probably why. The monitor came with the computer. Even though I use my computer a lot and try to play games when I'm not working, sadly I am not as smart with computers compared to most people lol. So you are saying my computer probably doesn't go that high, so I'm guessing the 1050 for the resolution is the one that supposed to be at 1080 right? How expensive are monitors by themselves? Is there one you recommend for me to get?
Ah yeah 7 years old is starting to push its lifetime. Monitors are relatively cheap nowadays though especially if you're just going for 1080p. 2K and 4K resolution monitors are driving prices down and you can get a decent one for not that much. Depends where you live and what currency you're working with. I've had good experiences with Samsung monitors but you don't really need to go by brand. Best way is to go to a shop, find the top 5 you like looking at and are 1080p, then check reviews online to make a decision. You'll also want to double check what cables can plug into your PC. HDMI, VGA, DVI, etc. Depending on the monitor you want, you might need a cable converter.
Huh? I totally am through the whole game. How else would I jump around the map without clicking on the minimap? As a specific example, you can see at 33:50 that I tell a bunch of control groups to attack the white base.
Yes, but I'm watching from the beggining of the series, and that was eating me alive :P It wasn't to attack you or else, just to ask if your familiar with grouping units, as I didn't watched the 10'th episode yet, I though adding com to the newest sc episode would draw you attention. Thanks for answer anyway :)
Haha no worries, but that's why I'm confused. I use control groups from second 1. You can see the moment I start mission 1 ( ua-cam.com/video/s08CDHbfwZY/v-deo.html ) at 8:53, I immediately set the starting marines and SCVs to control groups before doing anything else. I can guarantee you I'm using control groups throughout the series, it's just some points when I'm 1Aing and spamming units I don't bother setting groups because I only have a few free and I expect the units to die.
