Good match. I was curious, Were elbow strikes from the mount illegal in this bout? I know amatuer circuits often have more rules than professional circuits and I saw you chose to drop gloved punches rather than elbows from the mount.
I find the gloves a good handle for my throws, grabbing a Judogi with gloves is more of a hindrance. What's digital choking? Just grabbing the throat with your hands? Yes there was no downward elbows and I thought that ment no elbows while I was down, but really it was only the 12 to 6 elbow than was forbidden lol. To be honest I only strike to set up submissions anyway so it probably wouldn't have made much difference.

There is no doubt that all grappling came first from jujitsu and then Kano eliminated the throwing techniques that would hinder a person, but as you can see combat judo is not for the weak of heart
@@professorl.hilton. Many of the original jujitsu throws would break joints, sometimes before the throws were even completed. Kano wanted something that could be taught in school as PE and practiced full force. Some of those techniques were later banned in competition if they were too dangerous. About 15 years ago, I trained with several judo black belts in Japan who were in their 60s and 70s. They said judo was meant to throw an attacker on his head or spine. I suspect that would hinder a person!
Combat judo also would include pressure points and elbow strikes,, depending on the individual s ability it could be lethal. I’m now 80 yrs of age and trained under Japanese and Korean Yudo👌
The Brazilian jiu jitsu/mma school I went to had judo black belts teaching, in addition to the BJJ instructors, and the Judo teachers were either high belts in BJJ or black belts themselves. I don’t see why so many people on here are acting like BJJ and Judo are not complimentary arts. I get the lineage but BJJ is a great art to combine with Judo.
BJJ is essentially Judo, at least derived from it - so it's completely complimentary arts, training both and grabbling game is golden. If it's going for the octo/ring, mix it with some Muay Thai and you've got a good foundation - For pure self-defense, I'd say get some jiu jitsu lessons (not the Brazilian one), even if Judo works fine.
In the end, it's clear from watching this video that the most appropriate indicator for determining who is truly the strongest is not which martial arts are the strongest, but who uses which skills with a high level of fight IQ. Technical proficiency, training experience that is as close as possible to actual combat, mental strength, and fight IQ are all important elements that make up a top street fighter.
This video should be called... "skilled judo practitioner" vs "guy who watches ufc"... not really a fair comparison of fighting styles but fun to watch anyway

I trained in judo for a couple of years but I never felt like I improved very much. I feel like if you don't start when you're very young you'll never get really good. And it seems like the kind of martial art that if you're not really good at it won't be much use to you.
@@troybingham6426 judo throwing takes a long time to become proficient at and you'll never be elite unless you're physically gifted to begin with but with a couple yrs youd destroy an untrained man and be excellent on the ground since it's far easier to grasp.Unfortunately it doesn't address self defense at all but can with some modification.
@@scarred10 I must have been doing something wrong then. Or else I just didn't have much aptitude for it. Judoka's newaza is a bit rough around the edges, but his experience and pressure more than made up for it. It doesn't have to be perfect in the context of mma, it has to be good enough.
Thr old stylist fights were fun to watch, but ehat we learned is there is no one superior fighting style. You really need one striking style and one grappling style to do well. Most people who go on to be champions practice boxing, Muy Thai, BJJ, and wrestling. Each one adds something special and unique to create thr ultimate fighter. There are endless videos of people who want to prove their fighting style is best, and each one can be countered by an example of a high level practitioner in their field getting knocked out or submitted by another low level practicioner in another. Fighting has evolved past learning just one style. Just look at the UFC. Rhonda Rousey won a bronze medal in the Olympics in Judo only to be knocked out twice by two Muy Thai fighters. Judo is a great fighting style, but it is not the only one you need. Anything less than one striking and one grappling style will give you a false sense of confidence.

The gloves hinder alot of grappling techniques. You dominated the striker with your Judo. Had it been no-holds-barred, no rules, you'd have finished him much quicker cause digital choking is very efficient from the mount position you quickly attained. You represented Judo very well.

Not exactly what Kano did...throwing techniques that would hinder a person? Hinder what?
Shoulder throws were meant to brake joints of arms,,O UCHI GARI originally would dislocate knee cap … etc as well as Osoto GARI
